Statement by the President on Immigration Reform
Last year, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate came together to pass a commonsense bill to fix our broken immigration system – a bill that would grow our economy, shrink our deficits, and reward businesses and workers that play by the rules. But so far, Republicans in the House have refused to allow meaningful immigration reform legislation to even come up for a vote.
That’s why, today, I applaud the efforts of Democrats in the House to give immigration reform the yes-or-no vote it deserves. Like the Senate bill, the House bill would strengthen our borders, modernize our legal immigration system, and keep more families together. It would make sure everyone plays by the same rules by providing a pathway to earned citizenship for those who are living in the shadows. And according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, it would grow our economy and reduce our deficits by $900 billion over the next 20 years.
Immigration reform is the right thing to do for our economy, our security, and our future. A vast majority of the American people agree. The only thing standing in the way is the unwillingness of Republicans in Congress to catch up with the rest of the country. And I want to thank the leaders in Congress who ar
The last sentence:
And I want to thank the leaders in Congress who are doing their part to move us forward.
Damn right! Put their asses on the clock. Make them show their goddamn faces.
Thanks Bob.
And of course thank you to our House Minority Leader Senator from California….Nancy Pelosi.
[Hey CarolMae, just entering this here so you know we were actually thinking of you. 😉 ] Hope all is going well.
For sure she’s in our thoughts and prayers today – thanks vc for voicing it.
Jeffery Sachs what the fuck are you talking about, President Obama could not care less about what you or the Republicans think anything.
Is megalomania breaking out all over the world?!

ZING. “Russia leads no bloc of nations.”
Proof positive that they have NO IDEA, nor do THEY CARE, about early childhood education!! WTF. There is a whole lotta learnin’ going on in kindergarten…you know, like learning to READ! SMH. They think this isn’t the “right time?” It is EXACTLY the right time!! Notice that they had the “fear” that “poor people” would use this as babysitting? Is anyone else as offended by that as I am?
Pissed me off so much I forgot the link! http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/03/26/kansas-gop-nixes-all-day-kindergarten-for-fear-it-lacks-academic-rigor-will-be-used-by-poor/
This speech is just breathtaking Bobfr. This is the TRUTH personified. President Obama is making it plain. I am hanging on his every word. I am so proud of him.
His depth and cogency are unparalleled, Lh!!
I feel like weeping right now. I am so moved by our amazing President Obama. I just love him so much.
THIS!!!!!
No amount of propaganda can make right what the world knows is wrong. – POTUS a minute ago.
Another speech for the ages, Mr. President! We love you! (Hurry back, sir!)
PREACH MR. PRESIDENT!
Your truths will set some free……..
Freedom will continue to triumph over tyranny! – President Obama
I just watched brief commentary about PBO’s speech as I was turning the channel and I saw some guy on MSNBC say, “The message in that speech was not all that clear”. What speech did he watch? Comments like that reminded me why I do not watch these pundits.
They are the quintessence of “ignorance.”
Before the speech started, one of the worms said; the speech will not matter domestically, it will not mean anything to the people here.
They always want to speak for the masses. They dislike the President and they want everyone to fall in behind them-period.
Luckily, I clicked mute when I saw Wolf’s face on CNN! We only need to watch the faces of those in the audience to know how that beautiful speech was received!
Beautiful…..THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA!
We love you!
WOW! these tweets are awesome!
Who said Pres. Obama’s speech would not matter domestically?
Got in on the last twenty minutes…..what I heard…..What a speech! Stated so many important things so eloquently. Even dealt with the U.S. invasion of Iraq…..he doesn’t hide things. Clearly said he opposed that war, too. Good. Vlad needs to know he is NOT dealing with prior administration, and the rest of the world needed to be reminded that there is new thought in the white house. I loved when he said: “Now is not the time for bluster.” LOOOOOOVED that!!!
If ever a person came on the world stage at the right time, for a specific purpose, that person is our president, Barack Obama. My heart just swells with pride seeming him on the world stage today. No one else in the world could have made that speech, spoke those truths with the credibility and trust he did.
I want to find in me the moral aptitude and clarity Pres. Obama has. Is there anyone like him?
No, there is no one like him. He is head and shoulders above all others. And I agree with you about his moral clarity. It’s what drives his small-minded critics crazy.
That was a hell of a speech. He laid out our principles loud and clear and showed the world the true face of Putin.
He went there on every spurious argument that Vlad, others in the international community and the ignorant mofos in this country have espoused. I especially like how he made it plain about our actions in Iraq (even though we should not have been there in the first place) vs. Vlad’s in Ukraine. My other favorite is how he spoke in support of LGBT and against intolerance. Listening to PBO speak with such authority and intellect, and grace is a balm to my soul. Like so many, I really suffered during the Bush years. Shrub was so embarrassing, so ignorant, so class-less (plus he looks like Elmer Fudd) and clueless. PBO makes me so proud; he has uplifted our country and inspired the world.
Desperation ….
The punditry can’t think or hear clearly when it comes to PBO.
Sam Stein has turn into another Ezra Klein. Nothing.
The quote in the second tweet of this series is the money shot.
Thanks NW for for the posting of these tweets. I always look forward to your summaries even when I have watched the speeches.
Funny how Stein could Not resist the urge to opine.
Did these fools not tell Us that their Job is to Report?
That is not reporting that is opining his bias to a straight forward speech.
Thank you Nerdy Wonka for your wonderful work.
THANK YOU even more for correcting Sam Stein. They heard the same thing that we heard and they never fail to twist the President’s words. He made it clear that he was against the Iraq war, and that we did not go in and hijack their resources as Putin is doing.
Thank you and “THANK YOU” again! Their lies must be called out with truths.
I am not aware of any other President who could have given a speech like that in a foreign country or here in America. It was riveting.
Right COS…..the only person in the world who could have given that speech. He has trust of people, integrity and credibility. Who else would even be listened to? Who else would have been invited to give such an important speech in that location? The world knows who and what he is. Americans need to catch up…….well, over half of us know.
You can bet Mitt “superpower” Romney couldn’t. Not even Hillary.
Thanks Ms Nerdy Wonka. I didn’t get a chance to listen to POTUS’ presser and speech.
You Do it so well. Your summation tweets are Golden. Thanks.
Oh man, I missed POTUS speech, I hope there will be a video of it.
Let me read Nerdy Wonka.
I saw Chucky Todd on the Reid Report talking about POTUS and I turn the channel in a hurry.
Now that she has her own show she has to have all the ASSES on…..
I have not been watching at all.
The King MSNBC, NBC Ass….Chucky Todd.
Thank you Mr. Bobfr!
Call them out!!!
They do this because they don’t think we care.
They do this because they know that many do not know what PBO has said
Question for these wicked fools……Is there ever anything this POTUS does lately that is Not savagely distorted, lied about or totally and willfully taken out of Context by the DC/NY Pundits?
hi TOD family,
I’ve been missing I know since mid December but I caught the flue when a little piece in our heat went off.We waiting 3 days before they came to fix and I didn’t get over that until late February then 2 ago as I was starting to feel better i got a sinus infection that put me right back in bed;I wasn’t allowed to be on antibiotics for a week so I started taking them just 4 days ago and it feels great being able to breath again 😀
my computer died on me so I had to get a new one and for the record don’t buy HP;such a hassle that I had to bring it back 😡
I still can’t sleep on my stomach since that surgery and will start treatment again in June and I’ll probably have 2 more surgeries before the year is over
I send love and prayers to GoBrok and HZ and everyone who needs prayers
Thanks Chip for this site
I’ll try to post more often
until next time
Fred 😉

President Obama Coming to Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation Gala in Los Angeles
March 21, 2014
This May, founder Steven Spielberg’s USC Shoah Foundation will host their 20th Anniversary Ambassadors for Humanity Gala, and they have a very special guest coming to the event.
President Barack Obama will speak about “common values” and “shared responsibilities in building a brighter future,” according to the USC Shoah Foundation – Institute for Visual History and Education, a nonprofit established by Spielberg in 1994, a year after he completed “Schindler’s List.”
Spielberg will present the Institute’s Ambassador for Humanity Award to President Obama, for his philanthropic work and commitment to education. Spielberg has a new book coming from HarperCollins on March 25: Testimony: The Legacy of Schindler’s List and the USC Shoah Foundation — A 20th Anniversary Commemoration, which combines, for the first time, the behind-the-scenes story of the making of “Schindler’s List” with the history of the organization inspired by the Oscar-winning film.
The gala will go down May 7 in Los Angeles. TNT is a presenting sponsor.

{{{Fred}}} Please take care. Thank you for checking in. I will think positive energy thoughts and prayers for you today and send them your way posthaste. Know that you have a place here on TOD and loving support.
The problem with the press is that they were so dumbed down from covering Bush that they forgot how to listen. Their ears are tuned to buzz words so they can get a “reaction” and they have no intention of paying attention so they lack understanding. They are lazy. They have a predetermined narrative and script that they just plug their in catch phrases and and then run-off at the mouth assuming that what they have to say is more relevant. They are rapidly making themselves obsolete. That is why they keep propping up Putin, because they want to cling to the old norms of bullying because. It is simpler to just retread the same tired norms rather than stepping boldly into a new era of governing.
I’m so damn proud of our president.
WOW! Col. Larry Wilkerson did not pull his punches on Joy’s show saying explicitly that people under the Bush admin. committed war crimes and need to be indicted! Is there something in the air?
Chat away:
http://theobamadiary.com/2014/03/26/chat-away-347/
Poorly worded, perhaps, but I thought I’d remind him:
Thank you JacqueO. You are so right, we don’t need WashPost or anyone to tell us what our President says, or means. He is always clear. And we are intelligent enough to just listen and absorb. Stein and others ….. well, words fail me. They want his words to be twisted to their own sick agendas. I am so tired of it.
I’m dreadfully tired of all of them, too, daisydem! But we shall move FORWARD!
Tell him to read slowly…..
