So yes you guys saw this earlier, but was anyone rolling eyes about Julie’s QUESTIONS? Personally I think US MSM should be restricted to ONE question per presser when they are called upon, especially on the international stage.
VC, thye ALWAYS embarrass themselves. Other world leaders must look on in wonder at the stupidity of the US media and gain new respect for our president for putting up with it.
Oh dear one, I truly hope today is treationg you the way you deserve, and I mean that totally in a positive way. As opposed to the way others, say amk, would deserve.
I never wanted to be among the people that have a negative view of the press but I have really come to despise the media.
I want to trust that they are bringing us info without a bias or an agenda but over the years I’ve seen that is simply not the case. It’s incredibly disgusting to see what is supposed to be news is now allll about entertainment; gossipy gotcha questions with a Tiger Beat attitude
I understand TD. I used to be a news junkie. I watched everything. The evening news, cable news, every news blog. You name it, I watched it. Unfortunately, I had to face a reality in the summer of 2009 when I saw how the press was manipulating those “townhalls” to the public. It was one thing when that stuff was just on cable but suddenly it changed that Fall and I started seeing that same sensational news on the evening network stations. I knew at that point that the media had lost all integrity and its been downhill every since. Other than an occasional view here or there or listening to Rev Al or Joy when in my car I simply cannot stand any of it. Everything is presented with a right leaning meme just like that press conference we just witnessed.
I could never remember when a president of US in a foreign nation is asked questions totally engineered mimicking the last presidential defeated challenger’s verbiages by US news media abroad.
Whatever happened to when a POTUS is abroad, a TOTAL deferential is afforded him on Foreign Policy matters?
“I could never remember when a president of US in a foreign nation is asked questions totally engineered mimicking the last presidential defeated challenger’s verbiages by US news media abroad.”
It has never happened before! By the way, people who tweet should remind Jon Karl, Chuck Todd, Ed Henry and the rest of the GOP propaganda, masquerading as the WHPC, to get over the fact that Mitt Romney lost and is not the President. He lost twice!
I am so glad President Obama emphasized the reality that Russia may be a regional power but it’s not a world power. If Putin was such a powerful world leader, then why is he hiding in Russia? Other than the U.S. media, GOP right wingers and Snowden/Greenwald cultist on the left, I don’t see many people in the world flocking to be in Putin’s presence.
I well remember all the immediate reactions after the ACA case too. The immediate reactions and suppositions are meaningless. As Shakespeare said: “Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” I believe this case is where our three strong women will have their will seen.
That’s our VP alright – working for what he truly believes in. Things that matter to the people, and not to the corporate donors or media overlords. Take note, HRC, take note.
The President was brilliant and on point as always in the Press Conference. I also appreciated the President of Hollands remarks.
Jon Karl and Julie Pace are paid-for propaganda puppets and that makes their utterances irrelevant. I doubt anyone but their bosses pay attention to their dopey questions. And us, of course, always there to defend our President who needs no defending but the instinct to stand up for whom you love burns brightly on TOD.
I can’t think of any successor to PBO who will be able to conduct foreign pressers with the skill and panache our President does easily—like it’s no big deal.
I am so embarrassed for Jon Karl – to be schooled on the international stage so publicly by the PM of Netherlands (after all the schooling PBO has given him and the other WHpresscorps over and over). Sadly, it probably went right over his/their head/s.
Oh YEA! No argument from me on that score, Annieb. My *embarrassment* was from point of view that Karl’s obviously too dumb to realize that questions like the ones he posed clearly show his stupidity; and while they may be acceptable to his colleagues and bosses in US, on the world stage they showcase poorly.
Of course, I do realize that if Karl is too dumb to realize his questions are stupid, he’s also too dumb to be embarrassed. Commenting on it just made me feel better. (kinda like ‘I’m smarter than you, Karl. Na-nana-na-na’) 😉
I pity the Fools…the WHPC. They make a mockery of themselves Worldwide. They are laughed at. But they expose their biases and they make many broadminded US Citizens know that in US today, Journalism is just about DEAD.
Vicki, finally got chance to watch the whole press conference and yes, our president was brilliant. US media idiots think they can embarrass the president on his international trips but they always end up looking like total jackasses themselves.
Ah, I’ve spent half the day reading the angry comments on the WP support forum and noticed a bunch of people having YouTube-embedding trouble too. They really have made a complete muck of things with this ‘update’.
The bad news today is the RW majority in the SCOTUS is likely to give for-profit corporations the power to deny women employees access to contraceptive health care. The good news is they will be handing the Dems a powerful political issue to motivate women to vote in Nov. The GOP will be permanently branded with this injustice.
For some reason, Bill, I don’t think that is going to happen. I have the feeling that Elena, Ruth and Sonia are going to work this one to the end, and will make at least two see reason.
I really hope I am right, because I do detest Hobby Lobby and the people who built it. I live in Oklahoma and know what they are. Also, they were not averse to providing contraceptive coverage before ACA came. They are huge hypocrites, and also, sadly, uneducated in the broad, true sense of the word.
I refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby, just like I do Wal-Mart. Before all this came up, I noticed when I went to the store the last time, that it was just hordes of “made by slave labor” junk imported from China. It was as if a boxcar had been tipped over and spilled all over the floor. These big “Christians” also start pushing Christmas junk stuff in July! Anything for a buck. They are of the Koch ilk.
The three women justices only need to win one of these RW nut jobs over. Kennedy is the only possibility, and he favored Hobby Lobby in his questions. Consider this, all five RW GOP judges are conservative Roman Catholics. Basically they are using the Supreme Court to impose their religious views on women and they don’t care one wit.
Sometimes people hide behind their so-called religious views (think Boehner, too), when really they’re just nasty people who “don’t care one wit” about anybody but themselves … and their party line.
If the RW judges are insane enough to give employers the power to deny access to contraception, I will do more than motivate women to vote. It will motivate every single american who is afraid of the power of religious extremists. Many people vote republican but they’re not comfortable with the extremists in that party. The SCOTUS deciding that employers will be able to deny contraception would be so huge, such a big symbol of the power of the religious right, it would scare a lot of independents and moderate republicans. Enough with giving power to the religious right !!
My prediction: John Roberts, who is very savvy when it comes to politics, so he will find a way to side with the liberal judges on this. He will put some poison pill in the ruling though, like he did in the ACA case when he gave States the option to refuse Medicaid expansion, which has resulted in millions of americans having to suffer.
Chips, thanks a lot for providing the video on the morning’s news conference. I confess that the hardest part was, as always, the Q & A. If it weren’t for the fact that PBO and the Dutch PM did a resounding job of showing me how to sanely and methodically deal with ignoramuses/ignorami I’d currently be dousing the smoke from my ears. I know that the idjiits would not have learnt anything, but still the leaders were good.
MONDAY, March 24, 2014 (HealthDay News) — A new wireless pacemaker appears safe and feasible for use, potentially advancing the technology that cardiologists use to maintain heart rhythm in patients, according to results from a new clinical trial.
/////
Today’s pacemakers maintain the heart’s rhythm by sending electrical signals through wires that run from the device into the heart through a person’s veins, said the study’s lead author, Dr. Vivek Reddy, director of the cardiac arrhythmia service at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
“These leads are the weak link for the whole system,” Reddy said of the wires. The leads tend to break over time, and when they do doctors must extract and replace them.
Unfortunately, the wires sometimes grow into the wall of the vein, and laser surgery could be required to cut them free.
This new wireless pacemaker contains its own pulse generator, and is affixed directly inside the right ventricle of the heart through a catheter run up a vein from a patient’s leg or groin, Reddy said. The nonsurgical procedure is faster and easier than the surgery currently required to implant a pacemaker, the researchers said.
The unit itself is smaller than a triple-A battery — 6 millimeters in diameter and about 42 millimeters long. “The total amount of space it displaces is about 1 cc of fluid, so it’s very, very small,” Reddy said.
The wireless pacemaker is expected to operate for eight to 14 years before it runs out of juice, Reddy said.
Wow, Bob! President Obama is really doing a superb job on the the international scene. I am so glad you pointed out the fact “Tzar Vlad” is hiding in Russia. Without the possession of nuclear weapons, Russia would be a third or fourth rate power. As the Dutch Prime Minister emphasized, Russia’s economy is nothing without the oil and gas.
Yo!
It’s Jacqueliiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!
It is! And it’s Chips!!!!!
Why don’t the Truth in Advertising Laws apply to the false Americans for Prosperity Healthcare Lie ads ?
That is a very excellent question.
Back for 1 hour and 15
Hi JO’B, Linda and CeeCeeeeeeee!
Hi, y’all!
Mrs. DD4O, hello! (hint) Have you checked your email
in the last yearlately? You know I barely every go there. Sorry!!!
Did any of the cable or broadcast networks (including CSPAN) cover the Presser with our President ? Or was it only available on wh.gov and online?
I tried C-SPAN but saw nothing. I know MSNBC covered the press conference.
Okay thanks. MSNBC was probably the only station covering it.
I was away so just wondering – is this live or the video? Thanks
Hi VC, this is a video. The presser took place earlier this morning.
Thanks. For some reason knowing this helps my ‘mood’.
So yes you guys saw this earlier, but was anyone rolling eyes about Julie’s QUESTIONS? Personally I think US MSM should be restricted to ONE question per presser when they are called upon, especially on the international stage.

Ha! “they always..”
Definitely one of my to-do things if and when I visit China. 🙂 Sample the “hot pot” dish, in addition to all the amazing historical sites for touring.
Is that a top or a dress FL Obama is wearing? Anyone know who designed it?
It’s a dress TrumpDog, but I don’t know who designed it.
You know the dress Malia wore when they all met the Chinese President and First Lady, well it has sold out.
Mmmmmm, hotpot.
Don’t you call FLOTUS a pot.
🙂 Afternoon Japa!

I went batshit crazy myself during ACA so I won’t do that now. Although we need to be informed.

Hey Chiparoo, I stole your video for an open thread on TPV.
And it took me hooooooooours to record it, you thief! 🙂
I was having the DAMNEDEST time trying to get video to embed on TPV. Finally got it to work.
Ah, I’ve spent half the day reading the angry comments on the WP support forum and noticed a bunch of people having YouTube-embedding trouble too. They really have made a complete muck of things with this ‘update’.
Well, crap, Spandan PAYS for SquareSpace. Shouldn’t have been that much trouble.
I’m going back to pencil and paper, it was so much easier.

My feelings exactly.

Frankly these five RWNJs qualify as mean and nasty men who care nothing for ordinary people. They care about wealth and property. Period
Carolyn, Hobby Lobby is filled with over priced junk. I’d much rather go to Michaels or other craft stores.
I was wondering what the hell Hobby Lobby was.

Kudos to Joy Reid for conducting a real interview with the lady from Hobby Lobby by refuting everything she said with facts.
Is there a link for that, COS? Would love to see:)
DF it was on her show today. Someone may know how to get the video from MSNBC. Sorry, I don’t know how to do it.
🙂 Thanks, COS…I’ll check the link that donna put up.
I found this at the MSNBC website. This might be the one COS is talking about. https://twitter.com/NoShock/status/448538789036576768

I wonder how soon these will be in use. My Daughter has the traditional pace maker. The wires have caused her some problems.
Aquagranny, I hope sooner than later. But after they’ve really tested them out. Crossing fingers for your daughter! HUGS!
