OK folks, time to send out the bloodhounds for Chips. Man Utd came from 2-0 down to progress to the next round in the Champions League. Methinks she may have overdone it on the celebration tip.

“……Early in his career, a scientist named Mario J. Molina was pulled into seemingly obscure research about strange chemicals being spewed into the atmosphere. Within a year, he had helped discover a global environmental emergency, work that would ultimately win a Nobel Prize. Now, at 70, Dr. Molina is trying to awaken the public to an even bigger risk. He spearheaded a committee of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general scientific society, which released a stark report Tuesday on global warming. The report warns that the effects of human emissions of heat-trapping gases are already being felt, that the ultimate consequences could be dire, and that the window to do something about it is closing.

“The evidence is overwhelming: Levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are rising,” says the report. “Temperatures are going up. Springs are arriving earlier. Ice sheets are melting. Sea level is rising. The patterns of rainfall and drought are changing. Heat waves are getting worse, as is extreme precipitation. The oceans are acidifying.” In a sense, this is just one more report about global warming in a string going back decades. For anybody who was already paying attention, the report contains no new science. But the language in the 18-page report, called “What We Know,” is sharper, clearer and more accessible than perhaps anything the scientific community has put out to date…………”

Thank you for bringing this here today, LP, I have downloaded and am reading it now, after driving through warm sunshine, into a driving hailstorm, and now rain, rain, rain, pelting on the window frames… Yes, I know it is spring, and the weather changes fast in spring, but this info presents a lot of points we all must be aware of. Fast.

My pleasure, MP. Couldn’t agree with you more……. would be nice if networks like CNN spent as much or more time on issues like this rather than missing airline conspiracies!

A little story about Colin the Cowherd.

He used to be host of Sports Nation on ESPN. (He left it to focus on his radio show, also on ESPN.) A few days after the first debate, he and his cohost were talking about some sporting news, and Colin makes a comparison to PBO’s debate performance. The gist of his comment was that the brouhaha over the sporting item was as stupid as everyone writing off PBO over one debate. It just didn’t matter.

After that, I’ve paid attention to Mr. Cowherd.

Thanks for the responses Layla and LL——interesting tidbit, LL. I always notice PBO awards good behavior——if they treat him fairly, he is more likely to give access. Anyhoo—-sounds like a good place to do some outreach, provoke some interest in Ocare.

      • March 19, 2014 at 8:39 pm

Cowherd is awesome……. he is progressive and lets his audience know it. He started getting attention while hosting a radio show in Seattle then moved to the Mothership. He took over Tony Kornheiser’s slot and his radio show that airs 10:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. on ESPN radio, and is simulcast on ESPNU television. The topics he discusses are typically 75% sports 25% current events. They usually post his podcast very quickly for anybody who cant access ESPNU or radio http://espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=theherd

He prepared for his ESPN hiring interview by reading the New Yorker and such……

Dudette, you and God are on fire! I think Vlad will soon find out that he miscalculated by invading Ukraine and annexing Crimea! He thought the whole world shared in the adulation he received from American, media pundits, tea baggers and fire baggers on Syria.

Nice to see Sec of Agriculture Vilsack in the audience for this film preview. PBO was magnificent. What an honor for Cesar Chavez.

Sadly in this situation, there is really not much President Obama can do on his own. What needs to happen is for us the American people to put pressure on the Republicans in the House of Representatives.

AB, there just aren’t words in the English language low enough to describe this despicable man. He has disgraced the position of Speaker of the House and is a blight on our country. That we went from Nancy Pelosi to this creature is an American tragedy.

Oh VC, it usually 2 steps forward, then two or three steps back. I’m still processing the visit to pain relief clinic earlier, but I feel as if I wasn’t heard, and was given a pat on the back, and a ‘there, there, just keep on keeping on, eventually you will feel better’. Well, tonight I feel terrible, and am in searing pain, so. Sorry to say, no strong gains. I keep on hoping tho…..

No, but his mommy was. Only thing she ever sang. (Parents at that time used to walk around singing “I hate you, you hate me, etc.”)

This little guy is a SpongeBob Squarepants fan. And a fan of Woody and Buzz from Toy Story. It could be worse, but don’t sing their songs for us, either, PLEASE. Ha!

Cesar Chavez was one of the heroes of my youth. I remember a period of time when no one in my circle was buying grapes. That was easy. What he did was hard. Very hard. Most of all he gave dignity to Latino people. I remember him not only as an activist for social justice, but also as a devout and holy man who sacrificed himself for the poor.
