I always notice that Mondays are real slow getting off the ground, not here specifically, but everywhere on the ‘internets’. I think that is especially so today after the time switch. People are drowsy.

Is that why one of my clocks was an hour ahead?
We don’t observe daylight savings so our time stays the same. One of our clocks automatically updated when it shouldn’t of, I guess.

PBO and babies—-the BEST way to start the day. And it’s always instructive to see that natural, happy reaction babies instinctively have with President Obama.

My initial tidbit—–I can’t believe there is no news about the missing plane, everyone calling it an “unprecedented mystery” and describing the disappearance as “into thin air”. All the possible oil slick and debris sightings were not related. U.S. satellite shows no mid-air explosion. No nothing.

    • March 10, 2014 at 8:40 am

It’s just bizarre, I can’t believe they don’t have the technology in this day and age to trace it.

        March 10, 2014 at 10:33 am

Why wouldn’t EVERY plane have a GPS on every major plane part as well as the black box and a GPS connected to a self-opening parachute type of vehicle? Craziness.

I am with you. I’ve noticed the lack of drumbeat news around this mystery. How can a plane vanish without a trace in the 21st Century with all the advances in technology? Moreover, when I think of the relatives of the passengers, my heart gets cold. What a nightmare! Lastly, I don’t like the fact that there were 2 passengers with stolen passports on board. That’s a bad omen. I hope we find out very soon, where the plane (or its remnant) is.

NCLB, Like you, I can’t imagine what it would be like for families, not knowing. It seems beyond belief that something like this could happen today.

      • March 10, 2014 at 9:21 am

This is a major tragedy and like Chips, I can’t believe with today’s technology, they cannot trace the aircraft. I guess there’s no news interest in the plane because the media (US and BBC World) cannot trace it back to PBO, unfortunately. I’m only half joking.

          March 10, 2014 at 9:26 am

Hopefruit, you have a point. If the missing aircraft could be tied somehow to the WH, the media and the right wing specs would be all over it… until Benghazi.

I’m sure they can blame him because Malaysia didn’t check those stolen passports – probably a failing by the IRS, the FBI or NSA

This needs a caption contest on twitter.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) took a break from his endless investigations into the Obama administration and checked out SXSW in Austin this weekend.

While there, he showed off his dance moves by trying out a new game from Microsoft. He tweeted a photo. It looked about as awkward as you’d expect.

      March 10, 2014 at 9:08 am

Um…Linda, Issa never fails to embarrass himself no matter what he does. What a blight on the landscape.

      March 10, 2014 at 9:31 am

Linda, in the future please add a warning in advance of a post like “Darrell-issa-dancing”. I mean, my heart is strong, but with repeated assaults like that on it, it can start showing signs of distress. I hope someone close to Issa would tell him to focus on his fake investigations; dancing should never be an undertaking by him. What a strange and bizarre posture on the floor. Never seen something like that before. Oh, I take that back. I saw Michelle Bachmann and Mr. Bachmann dancing and that too was quite a trouble feast for the eyes.

After the way Darrell Issa treated Rep. Cummings last week he ought to check himself into a mental ward. What is pitiful about it all is how he was allow to get away with it without any punishment by that sorry “A” speaker. Democrats shouldn’t disrespect Republicans like that and Republicans shouldn’t disrespect Democrats like that either. But these lying racists Tea Republicans feel they can do and say whatever they want since 2009.

WASHINGTON (AP) — With just three weeks left to sign up under President Barack Obama’s health care law, a major survey tracking the rollout finds that the uninsured rate keeps going down.

The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, released Monday, found that 15.9 percent of U.S. adults are uninsured thus far in 2014, down from 17.1 percent for the last three months — or calendar quarter— of 2013.

That translates roughly to 3 million to 4 million people getting coverage.

Gallup said the share of Americans who lack coverage is on track to drop to the lowest quarterly level it measured since 2008, before Obama took office.

    That’s it?

Let the idiot flounder, df. He, like all Republicans, assumes that people are as stupid as he is. He doesn’t understand young people who grew up on social media and don’t obsess about privacy, he doesn’t understand women, and he doesn’t understand any minority ethnic or racial group. Heck, he barely understands how to make it through the day without plagiarizing something. Sounds like the perfect GOP candidate.

LOL – the same “young” voters who detail every living minute of their lives on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube? Sure….”privacy” would get sure them going LMAO! …. ABC News recently had a news segment about a new trend with couples who are now having their sex acts filmed on camera and then the videos are put on a website for all who care to browse — I wonder what Snowflake has to say about this….

hopefruit, the problem is the loony left has managed to fool a lot of people that there is some difference in evil between govt. tracking (which actually does not happen) and marketing tracking. The government’s use of any data is Pure Evil All The Time to these loons, but it’s completely innocent if the data miners do it.

It’s absurd. And from some people who should know better, like Thom Hartmann. But they’ve been quite effective in selling this meme.

Gee, imagine if they’d put that energy into selling progressivism as ‘progress’ – steps in the right direction. Or put any of that energy into supporting PBO and moving us in the right direction.

What a missed opportunity to actually make the country better.

    GM all.

Well, today in Chicago we should be in the 50’s. Tomorrow night we will get hit with another 2-3″ of snow. Have I told you yet how much I hate this winter?

On top of that, waking up to a world that is still dark is ultra depressing.

    But that is life.

May this be a wonderful week for everybody.

    • March 10, 2014 at 9:55 am

Ugh, more snow? I still reckon you should stay with LL or GGail until it’s all over, Japa.

Snow, japa?!?!?! I’m not seeing snow in my forecast!!!!!

Dark at 7:00 a.m. is just stupid. Why can’t we enjoy the almost-balanced daylight and night like normal earthlings?

MOOOOooorning, Chiparoo and TOD. This DST is going to screw with me over and over and over again.

I woke up late yesterday after misreading 9:50AM for 6:50AM, ate only once throughout the day and I had to force myself to do so, I’m not the slightest bit hungry today, my whole freaking body clock and internals are messed up; and this is just Monday.

Anyhooooo, agree 100% with this tweet. The set design of Carcosa was amazing and also bone chilling. I’m never going to look at flowers as innocent objects again. Beer cans represent something sinister. Trees are places where evil is committed. Homes are structures where depraved and occult gatherings take place. Birds and their nests are instruments of death. Even the color yellow has sinister meaning behind it.

Bravo to Alex DiGerlando. He was the production designer on Beasts of the Southern Wild (a fantastic and beautiful movie) and was the perfect choice for True Detective. This show like Breaking Bad won’t leave me for a very long time. A+ on every level.

Isn’t she the most despicable human being? —no evidence that I can spot of any redeemable qualities. She should have never been plucked out of Alaska for national consumption—–should have been left there to fade into the wilderness, to just inflict her harm on the native wildlife there (sorry mooses). There should be a penalty for McCain and all the other Repubs who thought she was worthy of the 2nd highest office in the country. (demonstration of poorest judgment in history)

At least you have the will power to listen to Palin, I refuse to listen to anything the racists witch has to say. If she comes on tv i search for my remote. John McCain is a bitter old man who has not gotten over the fact that Sen. Obama defeated him in 2008. He has damage his reputation, and forever people will be asking why the hell did McCain select Sarah Palin as his VP candidate in 2008? We sensible people will never forgive him for inflicting Palin on the U.S.
