Have been busy all day and just now checking in to see what is happening today. Have they found the missing plane yet? Can’t believe they are having only those Republican traitors on Face the Nation.

LL, thanks for the great tweets. So much to understand. Now to go back and read the other posts.

So we have G7, EU, UN, NATO, OSCE and Ukraine all calling for diplomacy and talks between Ukraine and Russia.

      • March 8, 2014 at 9:19 pm

Yes, LH. And, we have Secretary Kerry informing his Russian counterpart that if they ‘annex’ Crimea diplomatic efforts STOP.

I found the two paragraphs below fascinating from the article you posted earlier today.

          Crimea: Putin vs. Reality
          Timothy Snyder

          ————————————————–

As Putin sat slouched in his chair at his press conference, shifting between clever one-liners and contradictory constructions, he seemed to be struggling to reconcile tactics and ideology. On the one hand, he has been an extremely good tactician, far more nimble and ruthless than almost anyone with whom he deals. He carried off his plan in Crimea with panache. He broke all the rules in an act of violence that should have opened a space for the true world, the world he wants, the glorious Russian gathering of Russian lands and peoples.

Yet dramatic action did not summon the envisioned new reality to life. Ukraine did not reveal itself to be a Russian land unhappily and temporarily ruled by a few fascists whose coup could be undone. It looks instead like a place where the revolutionary mood has been consolidated by a foreign invasion. As the chief rabbi of Ukraine put it a few days ago: “There were many differences of opinion throughout the revolution, but today all that is gone.” He continued: “We’re faced by an outside threat called Russia. It’s brought everyone together.”

Yes, LH. That is an essential article. I had posted a link and excerpt from it in a previous TOD thread. Hope everyone takes the time to read all of it. Thank you.

It was indeed a must read article, Bob! Also, the “Stop Putin” video, by those young students , was absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing all the information and for staying relentless focused on Justice and humanity for the people of Ukraine.

          • March 8, 2014 at 10:51 pm

BTW, LH. I’m glad you found the article interesting and thankful you reposted this segment. Do hope anyone viewing TOD will read it, in its entirety.

What a wonderful eveing I had. Here’s a little tidbit of trivia: Knox County Democratic Women’s Club is the oldest Democratic women’s organization in the country. Tonight was the 85th anniversary celebration. There was a fantastic turnout and good time was had by all. The emcee was Knoxville’s first female major. Fitting, huh? When the group formed its slogan was: Inform, Organize, Register and Vote. Don’t ou love that?!

For anyone dealing with a rwnj in their family, this is a must-see. Thankfully, my mom and dad haven’t succumbed, but they’re coming at me from other flanks. I’ve long held that Fox News and its in-bred cousins are, as one, the single most destructive force in America. This has to somehow become a well accepted fact, and then dealt with, if this country is ever going to fully function again. /understatement

You’re so right. This FOX disease has to be eradicated if the country has a chance of recovering and surviving. They do nothing but spread hate.

      • March 8, 2014 at 10:52 pm

I have said for years that FOX has been the number one contributor to what has happened to our democracy. I haven’t watched this, but I heard Stephanie Miller read the entire thing. I was thinking “spot on” for every point he makes. So very sad.

and I was with friends today who loved Kaiser. It may have been medigap but I don’t think they were referring exclusively to medigap. Go figure.

My 27 year old son would love to sign up but making $21,000 this year, he was told he was not eligible for subsidies and can’t afford it without.

TeaBaggers: Write this on the chalkboard in your heads 200 times [I can’t get enough of it – Ha!]:

It was as singularly embarrassing a public address as any allegedly sentient primate ever has delivered. It was a disgrace to politics, to rhetoric, to the English language, and to seventh-grade slam books everywhere. Yet EVERY media source, every pundit, every blog – be they left or right or in between have given her time and space. This is WHY the fool keeps laughing – all the way to the bank. The left should take the way of the President “I don’t think about Sarah Palin” – and stop giving her space for any reason whatsoever.

Syria, Syria, Syria – a huge humanitarian crisis whose possible solution is being hindered by putin (putin & assad, two cruel dictators in a pod)
