Good morning, Chipsticks. Congrats on being #1! I trust this is had nothing to do with you having inside information about the time of this post. In any case, I wanted to alert you to the Stonekettle post that Kathleen shared on the previous thread. Unfortunately, because I am technologically challenged, I was not able to bring it here. If you can, please highlight it on the front page. As far as I am concerned, It’s one of the most brilliant pieces I’ve read on the Ukraine crisis and all the critics of President Obama. It’s absolutely a must read!

      Have a wonderful day!

Most of Jim’s posts are a must read – this one is no different – I just find it unbelievable that such things have to be said – why anyone in the US currently supports the rantings of the GOP has me in tears

“A large part of the courtier press is heavily invested in the notion that there is an actual Republican “establishment” that is at war with its extremist faction. This is because becoming invested in that notion is an easy way to keep from confronting the fact that one of our two major political parties has driven itself insane.”

Morning Chips! It’s so rare that I am up so early. Thankfully, 99ts was able to post Jim’s article, first shared by Kathleen, which totally blew me away! I hope everyone at TOD will have a chance to read it. Chips, I am not sure we thank you enough for creating this marvelous place. I learn so much coming to TOD. But even more importantly, I just love the sense of humor, caring, music, celebrations and camaraderie. Oh, I must not forget the pride I feel from reading all the fearless tweets from you and all the TOD members.

” There is no place like Russia, and I’m a wee bit tired of Cold War relics pretending they understand the Russian mindset. The Russians don’t understand the Russian mindset.”

And on top of that, President Obama had the wisdom to select one of the most humane, down-to-earth, and totally cool, Vice President with a beautiful wife. Good Morning….

McCain Attacks Obama Over What He Wrote About Russia In College

He then shifted his attention to a 1983 article called “Breaking the War Mentality,” which Obama penned for a campus magazine as a senior at Columbia University. Conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg resurfaced the article on Monday in a USA Today op-ed.

In his article, Obama blamed “U.S.-Soviet tensions largely on America’s war mentality and the twisted logic of the Cold War,” McCain said, quoting from Goldberg. “President Reagan’s defense buildup, according to Obama, contributed to the ‘silent spread of militarism’ and reflected our ‘distorted national priorities’ rather than what should be our goal: a ‘nuclear free world.'”

    Morning:) We’ll be needing this… http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/media-matters-mythopedia

Media Matters for America is releasing a sort of Wikipedia for conservative misinformation.

The site, Mythopedia, which was shared with TPM ahead of its release, is meant to be an online compendium of truths and lies pedaled by conservatives. The website’s unveiling comes a day before the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“The week of CPAC seemed like the most appropriate time to launch a fact-checking tool, like Mythopedia, as I’m sure we’re going to be confronted with both old and new right-wing lies during the conference,” Media Matters president Bradley Beychok said in a statement.

So many lies to tell….so little time. Great fact check tool…..

President Barack Obama is hoping to send a wake-up call to “sleepy” Democrats this November. …

“It’s something about midterms. I don’t know what it is about us. We get a little sleepy, we get a little distracted. We don’t turn out to vote. We don’t fund campaigns as passionately,” the president said during a Democratic fundraiser in Virginia on Tuesday night. …

“We know how to win national elections, but all too often, it’s during these midterms where we end up getting ourselves into trouble, because I guess we don’t think it’s sexy enough,” Obama said.

What is strange about the GOP loving media ignoring something good the President is doing – they are currently fixated on the Uktaine – one thing at a time is their motto.

Short summary of the beltway coverage: “Republicans don’t like the budget so it’s DOA. And that’s PBO’s fault.” No discussion of the merits – on the radio yesterday you heard GOP ‘response’ but none of the particulars of the actual budget.

      Despicable.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday compared recent actions by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine to those implemented by Adolf Hitler in the late 1930s. …

… Clinton said she was proud of what President Barack Obama has achieved in signing the Affordable Care Act, which she said is already making a difference in many people’s lives. She touted the act’s emphasis on preventive care, which she advocated, the ability for adults to keep their children on health insurance until they are 26 and an insurer’s inability to discriminate against those with pre-existing medical conditions. “There’s just an enormous amount of good in this bill,” she said, “and I think a lot of the characterization of it has been somewhat distorted.”

… “But let’s stay committed to the goal of quality affordable health care for every American because it’s the right goal and over the long run it’s a smart economic position as well,” she said.

I found Hillary’s comments heated and alarming. At least I’m not alone in that.

IMO, here’s the real reason: SOS Kerry rattled off facts, history, strategy and 21st century framing with such skill that, even if not reported, many of us were comparing his tenure as SOS to Hillary’s and she comes up very short. So she had to steal headlines somehow.

I am beginning to believe that she is nothing but puffery and I’m becoming increasingly worried that she would be a bad President in this new century.

I am suspicious at all these anti-Dem, anti-Obama signals which are conveniently popping up everywhere as the midterm election nears—-moneyed powers at work. Really troubling. Yes they are getting it wrong. There are certain folks (whom I believe should know better) like Laura Rozen who has been feeding into that meme that Putin has the upper hand. Sometimes she spreads the foolish/sensational MSM memes without any push-back and I would expect her to have the FACTS and not be relying on the regular MSM for crappy reporting.

I was rather surprised, if not disturbed when she didn’t know that Canada had the joined the US in withdrawing their prep for the G8 meetings & threatened sanctions against Russia the morning AFTER this info had been blasted all over TOD the previous evening, and others, including Jefferson Obama had tweeted about it as well. There was absolutely no reason for her not to have known this since she was busy tweeting all kinds of things about Russia/UKraine and PBO/Putin during that same time.

Exactly! The media is so desperate to create “negativity” associated with PBO that they will bend and twist out of shape to make a “bad news for Obama” narrative. This goes against their desired narrative that PBO is not popular, or liked. And they are mad…
