      Africa, I read this piece and the quote from Corbett gave me hives. The reason he says there are a lot more unknowns than knowns about ACA is that he is a stupid and venal man who has made no effort to understand the law and its implications. When he says he tried to expand Medicaid, he means he offered a plan for federal review that put so many exclusionary and unfair tests and restrictions on potential recipients and directed so much Medicaid dollars to his pals that it is sure to be rejected by the federal government. If he had expanded Medicaid as stated in the law, it would not have been complicated and filled with “unknowns” and 80,000 Pennsylvanians would now have health care. This man couldn’t tell what truth is if it hit him in the face and the people of this state are suffering for it. Koch money will pour into his campaign, but we have got to defeat him in November.

    Good morning everyone. Should be an interesting week that will end in our attending the PA Progressive Summit where I will meet Prettyfoot for the first time and get to see ALL of our Democratic governor candidates at once! Then we drive from PA to DC to babysit our little grandbaby while mommy and daddy move to a new place. Hope everyone else has great things planned.

    emulating putin-like behavior: whip anti-gay rhetoric so that you can divert the populace’s attention from the fact that you are declaring to run for the president for nth time (contrary to the constitution);

    the need to understand HOW and WHY prices for medical procedures varies across medical providers is something that is important for trends healthcare costs for patients and the system as a whole;

    ObamaCare had a component of this – medical price transparency;

    but even though some entrepreneurs are working to provide this medical price transparency, these innovations addressing this go largely unmentioned by the media;

      Global, this one feature alone would be an enormous contribution to lowering the cost of health care. In some countries, prices are well known in advance and there is very little price variation because those who “over” price can’t compete. Insurance companies should be 100 percent on board with this because they are shelling out the extra costs which are clearly not necessary to do these procedures. There is no earthly reason for such wide disparities of cost, except that some hospitals will do what they can get away with, hoping nobody will notice.

    There seems to be quite a bit of rejoicing that Piers Morgan is being cancelled on CNN. But if you looked at Morgan’s tweets recently, you will note that he was openly hostile to the Zimmermans (include child killer GZ), and he was highly vocal against the Dunn Verdict and called out the NRA.

    I think those reasons are a significant part of why his show got cancelled. True his ratings have been low, but we all know that low ratings do not a cancellation make where the corporate media is concerned. Morgan’s ratings have been low for 2 years now – and were low when he was pushing the “are u disappointed with Barack Obama” narrative. Yet he was not cancelled then. I’m not exactly a fan of Piers Morgan, but I am even less a fan of CNN; I know them too well.

      Yeah I expressed earlier how I’m no fan of Piers but I did like how he went after Zimmerman, unlike many in the media who seemed to fawn over him. I’m certain he ruffled a lot of feathers because he was very anti-gun violence so the decision to cancel NOW is indeed odd. I do hope he stays in the public eye. Despite my dislike for him, his voice is needed to combat those who use guns as a first resort and not the last.

    Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) signaled that “he would be open to a White House bid at some point, though the governor has previously ruled out seeking the presidency in 2016,” Politico reports.

    Said Patrick: “That’s a decision I have to make along with my wife of 30 years, and she’s a tough one to convince. Let’s just see what time tells.”
