Out of the gate — A great discussion with former Governor Charlie Christ of Florida. He just makes sense. I don’t know how he was ever in the Republican Party. Then the interview turned to Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and all we got was gibberish. Nothing but tired old GOP talking points about so called EPA overreach and the canard about over regulation.

She’s been fantastic from the word go!

She’ll let her guest speak, but she won’t let them peddle lies on her show. Exhibit A —-> Kay Bailey Hutchison.

        February 24, 2014 at 2:27 pm

Tell it NW. Could you believe that tired old hogwash Kay Bailey Hutchinson was peddling. I loved the way Joy handled her in the interview. She challenged the BS from the senator beautifully.

Meta, Incredibly yes I can. I’ve even stumped their mother a couple of times. They are fraternal twins but most people think they are identical. They just look completely different to me and yes they have me and my husband wrapped right around those tiny fingers.

Just got push polled by the Koch Bros., their “Consumer Protection Something or Other” arm, re. the Keystone Pipeline. They had a bundle of propaganda in the body of the questions—–gas prices are rising and the pipeline is needed to reduce gas prices to 5 cents a gallon (or thereabouts)—-we’re running out of oil, and that will be the end of America as we know it (almost that bad), will provide thousands and thousands of much needed jobs, a big whopper! etc. etc. Will you tell President Obama that the decision on the Keystone pipeline will determine if we all live or all die? “NO!” Can we add your name to the petition to tell President Obama that the approval the Keystone pipeline is the Most Important Thing Ever In The History Of Time? (more billions for us!, no advantage to U.S. or its citizens) “NO!!!!!” and about 5 more questions of same flavor.

It was a little sketchy, but I’m willing to give him more than one day. He seems to have great admirers, people really like him, and I don’t mind a bit of a quirky personality—-variety! Something different. We’ll see.

She’s doing well so far. My only critique of her is that she rushes through the end of segments sometimes even when she’s hosting other shows. I’m sure she’ll be fine. Brilliant lady.

I completely forgot about Ronan. He’s impressive on paper but when I’ve seen him in interviews and different segments, I wasn’t really feeling him.

“President Komorowski’s advisor said that Yanukovych will not be able to get protection from Russia or organize a counter-revolution. ”This is the final end of Yanukovych… I do not think that Russia will support him, or that he will get shelter there. Ukraine is out of the woods. The Russians are already thinking pragmatically. They play sharp only when they have a chance to win,” thinks Kuźniar.”

How much do I love TOD? Let me count the ways……..to infinity and beyond…!!!!

I’m a Southside Chicago girl. I lived in the neighborhood and went to school where Barack did his community organizing. I was not there when he was starting out but moved back in 2002. I got to vote for him for U.S. senate and the excitement during that campaign was electric and intense. For him to be accepted by the Southside proved he was the real deal, winning over cynics, and bringing hope to people who had grown bitter over politics (like me). In 2008 before super Tuesday, I told everyone I knew that Obama was going to win in a landslide because the same excitement generated from his senate race was rolling across the country, and the quality of the competition could not match it. After Ted Kennedy endorsed him, I watched with glee the predictions of the pundits fail again and again.

I’m not sure how I came across this blog, but I follow religiously and party along with you all to the music and share in all your personal good news that you share.

I recently de-lurked primarily to add my heartfelt thanks to Chipsticks and fellow Bts because… it was time? And strength in numbers I guess.

THE REID REPORT (Day one, first interview is on the Annual Governor’s Conference)

Jindal: Obama waving ‘white flag’ on economy

Charlie Crist and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson join Joy Reid to discuss Obama and Biden’s remarks at the Governor’s conference and the reaction from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

      February 24, 2014 at 3:46 pm

They should laugh at Jindal. When you compare earnings in Conn and Louisiana, and economies in the two states, the gov of Louisiana has no standing to speak on the economy. Their economy is a less than minimum wage economy. Minimum wage would be big step up for them. Their economy is pathetic…..the other governors know that.

I am glad Gov O’Malley piped up but a Dem should have stepped up after dopey Jindel’s Obamacare statement. If he would extend Medicaid to his citizens maybe they would have a better economy. The XL Pipeline is not the end all that will make this economy better for ALL Americans only the wealthy ones.

    Interesting ….

  31. February 24, 2014 at 3:44 pm

OMG, be still my heart! Sorry if already posted, but this is incredibly welcome news, especially since he’s being saying, no, no, no:

[this is from GOPolitico, so I’m not posting a link]

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) isn’t ruling out a potential presidential run in 2016 or beyond.

Patrick told Politico he could “maybe” see himself as a candidate for president, saying he’d wait to see “what time tells.”

“That’s a decision I have to make along with my wife of 30 years, and she’s a tough one to convince,” Patrick said.

Patrick said he’d “like to have another opportunity to serve.”

“I believe in service. I enjoy it,” Patrick said. “I also like coming and going, you know, because I think that my private-sector life has contributed to how I think about public-sector challenges and what I do in the public sector.”

YESSSSS. I hope this comes to pass. We’d have a real interesting and competitive race.
And YES, I know: I’m keeping my eyes on 2014!
