BBC: Ukraine’s parliament has voted to remove President Viktor Yanukovych from power, after the most violent days since anti-government protests began in November left at least 77 people dead.

Earlier, protesters were able to walk into official presidential buildings unopposed, after police abandoned their posts.

Oh, this is rich: Putin urged Obama in their conversation to use all his influence to return the situation in Ukraine to constitutional channels. This from the guy who put his PM into the presidency to keep his seat warm until he could run again.

The building in the first photo, do we know what that is?

Not long ago I just watched a video that I think our NW posted about voting. I was in tears at the end. We see what a privilege we have when in the Ukraine they had to fight for self determination again too.

Carol, I wish everyone in this country could see voting as both a privilege and a responsibility. I’m appalled at the attitudes that seemingly intelligent people have about voting. They don’t bother because they think their votes don’t count, or the don’t see it as important and yet they are the first to complain if things don’t go right. It wish it could be required viewing for people to see what people in other countries go through just to have the chance to vote in a fair election.

We need to bring back Civics in school and more importance put on our right and obligation to vote.

In some instances I think people don’t vote because it becomes “too hard” (in many instances by GOP design). If I was a minimum wage earner who had to take unpaid time off work – or if I had to wait hours in a queue – or if I had to jump all types of hoops to register – I’m not sure if I would vote.

We had a 30 minute wait to vote at one election – I complained – presumably others complained – and the next election they opened a new polling place in our area – wait was 1 minute.

Your population is more than 10 times ours – if democrats ever get the chance – the first think they should do is introduce multiple voting days in all states (Can they do that?), have the same rules for all states and make the main election day a public holiday – or a weekend day.

Not that we don’t have troubles – “The boss of the Australian Electoral Commission has resigned in the wake of the fall-out over the bungled West Australian Senate recount” They lost 1400 votes during a recount – the courts have ruled a new election must be held – and the boss has resigned – as he should.

Hopefully this time the Ukrainians won’t fall to infighting, which is what allowed Yanukovych to get back into power.

These people are like rabid dogs who’ve been cornered.

I doubt that they realize that people in two parts of the world are demonstrating to get out from under the kind of government they advocate. None so blind as those who will not see.

So Georgia just approved a confederate license plate for the hillbillies living here.

The students at the U of Mississippi that put the noose and confederate flag on the statue of James Meredith are from Georgia.! When they get back maybe they will be presented one of those new ignorant flag plates…..

Actually…those plates were not necessary at all….In Georgia…a plate is not required on the front of a car…..millions already have a silly Rebel Flag hanging on the front.

BTW… James Meredith was a Republican…He ran for office several times as a Republican..

Think I just saw something on Twitter that said the Georgia governor said he “was not aware of” these new plates. Another Christie: “unaware” of stuff that’s sitting right before his lying eyes.

Romney is a fraud and a coward..

He rejected Christie for VP and Christie would not allow the Romney campaign to fund raise on his own in New Jersey.

      Misery Loves Company.

The lying bishop is wondering about looking for attention since his defeat on Nov 6th, 2012.

He knows how the fluffy Christie feels. Having believed that the presidency is within reach, ONLY to be hit by a 2 by 4 and The Stack REALITY is Finally starring before their very delusion.

Ukraine’s Yanukovich refused exit from country: Interfax

So, if true, he wasn’t on the flight of the ‘presidential plane’ to UAE.

    … not confirmed, yet.

Apparently Yanukovych lived lavishly with a private zoo, a garage filled with a zillion cars and a huge boat. He was a thuggish tyrant and a murderer, but a very rich one who knew how to treat himself very well.

HUGE news for Chicago! “Chicago wins bid for $320 million manufacturing hub”. Rahm said to be “giddy”, will be a huge feather in his cap. And hopefully will spill over to shine some positive light on Gov. Quinn—-the Repubs running against him are a nightmare. President Obama will make the announcement of this economic boom on Tuesday.
