    Hi Nerdy!

  2. February 18, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Love those old soldiers. Their respect is awesome.

Thanks, 99ts and CarolMae. šŸ˜€ It is an honour to make it through the gate first when Nerdy is in charge; she usually walks in so softly I’m not alerted until minutes later.

Hello, TODobots, one and all! I can’t remember the last time I greeted the entire village – at least not at this time of night.

  5. February 18, 2014 at 10:23 pm

Were they there for the screening of Monuments Men? Did you see my tweet of a real Monuments man near my hometown?

I was – as I am wont to do – chatting on the prior thread – when what I should have been doing was household chores.

At almost 2pm in my world I have just realized the laundry is waiting – and then I remember when my Mom used to boil up the sheets in a copper kettle – and I thank the person who invented the automatic washing machine šŸ™‚

I also stretched myself to turn on the dishwasher – which should have been finished a few hours ago.

I let Pete know you’re on it, NW! (Hope he stops here every now and then, to see our “shrine” to his images!)

He did answer one of tweet questions once a long time ago. šŸ˜€

      JO’B:

Was offline yesterday, just now seeing the tweet from @CamelotK re: Hillary appointing Barack Obama to #SCOTUS.

How presumption these f#@*^% PUMAs are!

First of all, only PUMAs and MSM want another round of the Clintons in 2017. The world is moving too fast to have retread ideas at the forefront.

President Obama is both strategic and innovative. IMO (not telling him what he should do, of course), he would be bored stiff on SCOTUS. Too leisurely, not a big enough canvas. Definitely wouldn’t utilize his greatest skills.

I think President Obama will strive to make a difference in the underserved and neglected areas of DC, which has been without a champion since DC became the capitol. He can get the ball rolling and then pass the torch to the young progressive leaders who live in the opposite corner of DC from Georgetown and Chevy Chase MD.

After Sasha has decided on her college location, Barack and Michelle will be empty-nesters who will be eager to get involved in community organizing on a national and global level.

BTW, did I mention I hate PUMAs? LOL.

        *not a big enough canvas*

Oh, I so very much agree with what you said there, especially! It’ll be so interesting to follow his path – and Michelle’s path – after 2017. Not that I’m rushing that!!!!

In real life, anyone here ever seen or tasted pineberries? They look pretty but I’ve never heard of them.

        February 18, 2014 at 10:51 pm

Here you go – you try it first, while I do a bit of research.

‘The pineberry is a white strawberry with red seeds. Pineberries are actually the oldest strawberry variety. Originally strawberries were white in South America and red in North America (known as scarlets). Spontaneous crossings between the Chilean white strawberry and the North American scarlets produced Fragaria ananassa, which is the base material for all the common strawberry varieties we have today.’

Another excerpt from my research šŸ˜‰

“In 2010 the pineberry was introduced on April 1st in the UK. Many media thought it was an April fools’ joke and believed the pineberry did not exist. However when it turned out the introduction of the pineberry was for real, this special strawberry got a lot of media attention.”

    • February 18, 2014 at 10:40 pm

No, I just saw them on twitter too. I get a LOT of seed catalogs so I’m surprised I haven’t.

      • 67 vcprezofan2
        February 18, 2014 at 10:53 pm

Perfect! Okay, your new job is to search out some pb seeds, plant them in the spring, then invite your nearest TOD neighbours to come for a pineberry feast once they start to mature.

        • February 18, 2014 at 11:18 pm

This will be the first year the plants are available in the U.S. And Canada. Not sure if there will be seeds but I’m already on it. I’ve actually grown strawberries and asparagus from seed. Going to plant more this year. And of course tomatoes. šŸ˜‰

        Here you go >>
‘Beekers Berries receives many requests from people, asking how to grow their own pineberries. Beekers Berries growers therefore, decided to start selling pineberry plants. Pineberry plants are now available in The Netherlands, home to the Beekers Berries growers.’

You have no excuse to not deliver as I’ve now done the initial research for you šŸ˜‰

Good evening CarolMaeWY!! Glad to see you here. Is your eye better.

I do enjoy working the elections. Have been doing it for several years. I am floater for the county. I will go wherever they need me. I like meeting lots of new people, but the day can be long.

        • February 18, 2014 at 11:15 pm

GE Marilyn. My eye isn’t really better but I needed support after the Dunn verdict and TOD is a place of refuge. I’ll probably stay off a couple days if I can. I’m enjoying the book. It’s hard for me to listen before my mind starts wandering. I’m not used to someone reading to me. I’m finally making headway in getting an appt. With an ophthalmologist. Take care. Glad you enjoy the elections.

Serious question: Is our US media covering a nascent civil war in Russia’s “near-abroad”? Thank goodness that Ukraine rid itself of nukes after the fall of the Soviet Union.

At least … probably quite a few more … another day like the past 24 h and it’s full scale civil war …

Grave concern should be that the next day or two are when Putin’s many beloved Georgians, Chechens, etc., decide to go for the gold in the suicide IED event in Sochi.
