O/T: I posted this at the very end of last thread so wanted to bring it over. Also, O/T…..I will be calling Corker’s office later about his comments regarding union vote at VW in Chattanooga.

I just checked our local newpaper online and found an article with the following title: “Budding bromance for Bill and Barry? Haslam misses presidential visit but makes state dinner.” It is about Gov. Haslam not meeting PO two weeks ago when he came to Nashville, but he and his wife attended the State Dinner. I did a blistering comment on the comment board about the disrespect of the use of “Barry.” I am fuming!!!!!! Gawd, these haters drive me crazy!!!

        🙂 :), MP.

I’m listening to Ed and lots of callers and couple of guests he has had on regarding this Corker comment and his interfering with the UAW vote in Chattanooga. Everyone agrees this may be against the law…..at the very least, the ‘spirit’ of the law. Every person is furious with Corker.

Good, excellent. If nothng else, perhaps he will learn to think before he speaks in future. I would enjoy phrasing that in a bit more common terms, but it’s valentines day and I am trying to be refined!! 😉 Don’t you let them interfere with your healing progress, okay? You are more valuable than the entire lot of them! ♥

Senator Corker attended the infamous First Inauguration night GOP/TP dinner on Jan.20, 2009 where they plotted agaist the “one term president.”
He was there with Jim deMint Tom Coburn and the other losers most if not all of whom will soon be history.

And PBO’s second term is going great, Sen. Corker, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that, mf.

The host of “The Soup” is coming to Washington.

The White House Correspondents’ Association says Joel McHale will host its annual dinner on May 3 in the nation’s capital. The group said Friday that the star of NBC’s “Community” and E!’s pop-culture show “The Soup” will provide entertainment for the centennial White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Bill Nye spent the 1990s providing science lessons to America’s youth. Now he’s pushing back against the country’s know-nothing adults.

Nye will continue his crusade against misinformation this Sunday on “Meet the Press” with a debate against proud climate change denier Marsha Blackburn, the Republican congresswoman who serves as the vice chair of the House Energy & Commerce Committee.

The host of the once popular after-school staple “Bill Nye the Science Guy” took on committed creationist Ken Ham earlier this month in a debate over the origins of humanity.

I can’t watch that crap, even with my Science Idol on the panel. Good that he’s taking on these nut balls in front of a large audience. He will be fantastic, of course. But I just can’t watch that show.

I keep on seeing this ad in tv about Alex Sink paid for by Chamber of commerce.
It says that obamacare cut 716 billion from Medicare. Yet she defends Obamacare. She’s for THEM not US.

    What is Them and US?
    Please define?

    • 33 japa21
      February 14, 2014 at 3:15 pm

THEM are all the average, hard working Americans. US is the 10%. Of course they don’t define it that way. Surprised they still do that lie about cutting from Medicare, but there are still people who believe it.

One thing I love about Obamacare is that it’s showing people that good government can work FOR them and that the current president of that government delivers what he promises. People who had given up hope that anything good could come out of the government they had been taught to hate have seen that when good people get elected those people work for THEM. Obamacare also shows that when Democrats work together, as they did to pass the ACA, people benefit. The Republican mantra of government as the enemy created a nation of cynics, disengaged from the government that is theirs. Our president has been committed to turning us into true citizens again, ones that ‘participate in their government and hold it accountable. By restoring faith, Obamacare takes us one step closer to a working US democracy in which people remain engaged and actually vote.

  26. February 14, 2014 at 4:57 pm

The Obamacare juggernaut is JUST starting. Signups are beating all expectations. And it’s a good bet that a lot of folks signing up, whether on the exchanges, through expanded Medicaid, or staying on until 26, are not regular voters, or at least regular midterm voters. They’ll see one party which wishes to make Obamacare better, and one which wants to throw them back on the tender mercies of unregulated insurance. At this point, self-interest kicks in. A) I’d better vote, and b) I’d better vote the right way. Millions of people having access to reliable healthcare for the first time is as possible as millions of people having access to potable water, or a secure food source. You’ll thank the people who provided you access to, well, life.

Combine this with Dems being proactive on getting people in voter suppression states what they need to vote, and I don’t think the generic polls are, at the moment, accurately portraying what’s happening. I agree with VP Joe in his statements to the Dem retreat today. People support Dem ideas. Now it’s time to get those people to the polls.

The Lie of the Moderate Republican: The Tumbling Down of Chris Christie

    By Frederic Poag

What is known, what is undeniable reality, is this is how Republicans’ govern. Is Christie any different from Scott Walker, who was bought and paid for by the Koch Brothers, in order to sell off Wisconsin public power plants?
A party that is driven by an inflexible ideology, one that is untethered from reality, whose sole purpose is the accumulation of power at any cost, produces exactly a kind of leader like Chris Christie. Eight years of the Bush Administration wasn’t an anomaly. It was an accretion. Despite all the hype of moderation, regardless of the professions of innocence, Chris Christie, remains, above all things, a Republican.

I wanted to tell you how much they touched me.

I was at the “grosh” today and I couldn’t believe the huge numbers of guys—-boyfriends and husbands—-swarming the place, grabbing flowers, chocolates, wine, balloons and those dumb little stuffed bears with the “clever” message “I love you beary much”—-(NO!—don’t buy that!)–and the last of the valentine cards. They looked either stressed or real proud of themselves. Seems like this day has escalated in significance in recent years.
High school teacher daughter reports that the day was frantic and almost worthless at her school—-Valentines Day has also become a huge deal there too—-with the guys wearing suits and ties as they deliver flowers and love notes to their beloveds in all the different classes. And the girls are all dolled up in their red short skirts and giggling and squealing with each love delivery. Needless to say, tough to combat that atmosphere with an algebra or geometry lesson. Daughter said she was “funny” by beginning her class by asking, “Do you smell that?” “Love is in the air”. Of course after she asked “do you smell that?”, one kid had to respond with, “What? Did someone fart?” 🙂 She said she was also “funny” by wearing her red “I Heart Math” tshirt, and said math was her valentine—–they looked dumbstruck by that one. 🙂
Happy “ValentiMes” everyone. (valentimes is a jokey in our house—because of amusement that some people offer that greeting and are sincere in their belief that the word is indeed valentimes.

I love Obamacare because it represents the LOVE this President has for the people. LOVE overcomes fear. My friends, relatives, neighbors, myself and exponential amounts of other Americans can now live without the fear of being wiped out by an illness or denied for a pre-existing condition. I saw a client yesterday who is worried about abdominal pain and related symptoms. He signed up for the expanded Medicaid a couple of weeks ago. He is unemployed and before, because he is childless and single, he would have had nothing. With Covered California and the expanded Medicaid access, he can go to the doctor instead of just worrying.

Baking some healing lasagne for my friend now.

The President and everyone who helped him establish and carry out the implementation of the ACA are my Valentines today and beyond. They have truly put my heart and the hearts of so many other Americans at ease.

Happy Valentine’s Day TODers! You are all also part of my gratitude list everyday! Love and light to everyone here, especially Chips and everyone who works hard to keep this here for us.

    Tanti baci a tutti!
