NW, didn’t get a chance to say how terrific the R&S was this a.m. You continue to amaze us with the broad sweep of information you include. You and Chips do a far better job than any national so-called media I can think of. I don’t know what your future career plants are, but I hope they include either a run for political office or creating a new and better media. You would be formidable in any field, that’s for sure.

Oh, wow. Thank you very much for your kind words, Jackie. I’m so glad that the articles, news, thought pieces in Rise and Shine are relevant to you and provide information that you find valuable.

It’s been a pleasure to help Chips out with TOD.

      Thank you again.

2104. 2014. 2014 is my Only Concern this Year.

But just read this and went…..Okay then……Karl Turd Blossom Rove said what?

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/11/karl-rove-rand-paul_n_4767059.html?utm_hp_ref=politics#comments

In a Tuesday interview on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Rove questioned Paul for “beating up on” Clinton and Lewinsky, adding that this move may not be a “particularly good thing to strengthen your skills.”

“Frankly, Rand Paul spending a lot of time talking about the mistakes of Bill Clinton does not look like a big agenda for the future of the country,” Rove said.

Rove’s comments arrive weeks after Paul revived the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Tuesday urged states to repeal laws that prohibit felons from voting, a move that would restore the right to vote to millions of people.

The call was mostly symbolic — Mr. Holder has no authority to enact these changes himself — but it marked the attorney general’s latest effort to eliminate laws that he says disproportionately keep minorities from the polls. “It is unwise, it is unjust, and it is not in keeping with our democratic values,” Mr. Holder said at civil rights conference at Georgetown University. These laws deserve to be not only reconsidered, but repealed.”

    • February 11, 2014 at 2:07 pm

The idea that felons cannot vote is absolutely maddening to me. Particularly when the Constitution grants felons the right to hold office. Remember that idiot in Alabama (?) that ran for President from his cell? Once an individual serves their time all citizenship rights should be restored. Instead the system continues to punish them. Only in Amurka…land of the free.

The point of the article was to point out Greenwald’s hypocrisy – plenty of ‘data mining’ going on on his own site and his serious lack of any journalism skills. The article gets into the weeds, but the reason I posted it was to poke a stick in the eye of the Hypocrisy Chief.

      Good afternoon 57andfemale…
HAPPY TUESDAY to you, Mr.57, Mr. Nickelby, Mr. Kasper and of course pretty girl Miss Pearl : )

The story of Harvey touched my heart. I felt your words and they were beautiful. You and Mr.57 are just awesome human beings.

If you decide to write children books one day, I am your agent. Here’s the 1st one.

Mr. Harvey Finds a Home and Our World Is Changed Forever

I can see FLOTUS sitting before the students and reading this beautiful story. : )

        February 11, 2014 at 1:16 pm

First of all, thank you for your kind words and the strong, positive energy I feel from you every day.

My goodness you hit on something: many, many years ago I wanted to write children’s books. Life took different directions and I haven’t thought about that in decades.

I would need an illustrator because I’m challenged to draw stick figures, much less illustrate a children’s book.

Now I can’t get that image of a book about Harvey out of my mind. Or the endless conversations I imagine my pups having that I cannot hear…….

FYI, I’m letting myself believe that my sweet Nickelby is out of the woods. Daddy let him out too many times yesterday but he still seems pain-free.

Pearl looked particularly lovely in her purple sweater with a little monkey applique on the back with a pretty pink bow. Although she, for one, has had enough of this terrible winter.

        Love you, girl friend!

          February 11, 2014 at 1:30 pm

Too cute for words…..now I am visualizing Miss Pearl. Good news for Mr. Nickelby, puppy prayers are working : )

Go for it 57andfemale! write that book about Harvey, our pets can change our lives just as humans can and do. I can see it happening for you; Broadway play…a movie, a – okay I’ll slow down : ) Just Do It!

The dream has been resurrected and nothing is by coincidence. I always tell my students; reach for the moon, and if you miss it, you will be left among the stars. If you never do what you have thought about doing, you’ll never know, if it could have been done. Now get out there and introduce the world to Mr. Harvey.

          YES YOU CAN!!!!!

          Love you back : )

    In Houston, Texas.

A guy named Derek Poe decides that a great way to advertise his business is to hire another guy to stand at a busy freeway intersection while dressed to get noticed and carrying a sample of the product.

Free enterprise and advertising. We love it.

Only problem was that the dress-up was a giant banana and the product was an AK-27.

The ‘simple’ answer to the Washington Post’s feeble assumption that PBO’s initiative arose as a result of criticism.

    //…..
And so it comes as no surprise that this week President Obama will announce a new initiative titled “My Brother’s Keeper.”

President Obama will launch a significant new effort this week to bolster the lives of young men of color, seeking to use the power of the presidency to help a group of Americans whose lives are disproportionately affected by poverty and prison.

Obama on Thursday will announce a new White House initiative called “My Brother’s Keeper,” which will bring foundations and companies together to test a range of strategies across the country to support young male minorities, taking steps to keep them in school and out of the criminal justice system, a White House official said. He will also announce that his administration will launch a more vigorous evaluation of what policies work best and publicize results to school systems and others across the country.

This initiative will obviously build on the work Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Attorney General Eric Holder have done to eradicate the school-to-prison pipeline that currently affects so many young men of color.

About 350 guests are expected for the glamorous formal affair, according to a Senior White House Official, which will be held in a massive, dramatically lit indoor pavilion on the South Lawn. The White House calls the structure a “tent,” but it is to a tent as the Flintstone’s car is to a hybrid of a Maserati and a Rolls Royce.

    [Hmmmm. From Boomnan]:

[…..] I think John Boehner and other Establishment mouthpieces have finally found a winning argument that is persuasive with the mouth-breathers. They think that their house majority is safe, and they’ve convinced themselves that they can win control of the Senate if they can just refrain from shooting themselves in the foot. They have been able to take positive polling numbers to the wingnut faction of the party and argue convincingly that they are on a glide path to victory in the midterms, and the idea is that they will win if they can just avoid rocking the boat too much.

That means that there can be no more government shutdowns or downgrading of the country’s credit rating. They don’t have to pass immigration reform. They don’t have to extend unemployment insurance. They really don’t have to do anything other than keep the government open and they will be rewarded by the public despite their role in making the government utterly dysfunctional. In fact, the dysfunction of government is the best argument for Republican governance, because the Democrats insist on behaving as if the government can do things effectively.

So, elected Tea Partiers (as opposed to the unelected kind) are willing to sit back and wait for their reward, and then they can really attack this president and his health care law. […..]

It used to be they worked for the people, the majority – in the interest of the people.. ferreting out lies; etc… Now they work solely for the corporate owners.. they no longer expose dishonesty- they manufacture and propagate it… I believe basically nothing that they say anymore.. without evidence. Sick of their gossip and the way they go all out to set us all up against one another.

A massive attack that exploited a key vulnerability in the infrastructure of the internet is the “start of ugly things to come”, it has been warned.

Online security specialists Cloudflare said it recorded the “biggest” attack of its kind on Monday.

Hackers used weaknesses in the Network Time Protocol (NTP), a system used to synchronise computer clocks, to flood servers with huge amounts of data.

The technique could potentially be used to force popular services offline.

Several experts had predicted that the NTP would be used for malicious purposes.

The target of this latest onslaught is unknown, but it was directed at servers in Europe, Cloudflare said.

Guess there aren’t any single gals at the state din—-or even married gals—-willing to take him for a spin on the dance floor. (surprising because even tho he’s not that cute, they could have at least told their friends they danced with the president of France) (oh well) Guess the dancers at the event will just have to be happy with shimmying in their seats to Mary J.
