Thanks, Nerdy Wonka, for the beautiful pics of the Obamas showing their love for each other. They so remind me of my dearly departed mom and dad and how much they loved each other. Wonderful!!!
It is such a pleasure as a former church marriage prep counselor with my late husband to witness such First Family role models in the WH for how to keep a marriage strong and alive.
I’m enjoying them, as well, and especially that you’re encouraging us to “smile into the morning”! Sometimes there’s too much negativity in what we read and comment on, all over the place, and we have to plan our mini-escapes! I, for one, am glad you get that, NW!
Amen, JOB! I really love Nerdy Wonk’s posts because they combine the serious stuff and hilarious stuff (especially the tweets from GOD). There is so much evil and ugliness in the world. But there is good, beauty and laughter in the world which enables us to remain human and sane. So I join you in thanking NW for all her posts and especially those that allow us to laugh and appreciate beauty.
I concur with everything ya wrote, nath! It’s too hard to keep finding the rough side of everything … without remembering there’s a smooth side! (Can ya tell I’m a Libra?) Most of us here know that, and know that we really must “keep it together” for the bigger fish we have to fry between now and November! Not to mention the fish we’re frying in our own lives – Ha!
Personally, I’d rather join Chips and NW and the other BTs in thinking, every now and then, about the lovely Obamas and Bidens and the good things they do for our country, than to concentrate strictly on what the latest awful statement was, made by a Republican and their minions! The latter is too draining of our energy and resources.
And, as you said, there is good, beauty and laughter all around, if we just snatch it!
I am a Libra too, JOB. Born on October 8. I am committed to the struggle for justice. At the same time, I will always enjoy the “beauty and laughter all around” us because that’s what life is all about.
You’ve had to remind me more than once that you’re a Libra, and I’m sorry – again – that I forgot! Luckily, I think it keeps us trying to always be at the point where we figure out a way not to have enough misery around us to have to use our precious time to revel in it.
Now, if you’re a true Libra, you’ll understand what the heck my tired brain meant by that! (Help me out here, nath!) Goodnight. Enjoy the beauty that abounds, as you said.
JOB, I think I understand everything you said perfectly! You are saying that us Libras refuse to give in to cynicism and despair because of our love for life and humanity as expressed in poetry, song, dance, and laughter.
You are most welcome Nerdy Wonka! It’s really you, and your football nemesis Chips, who deserve all our thanks for this incredible site. I just love the fact that your devotion to covering serious issues is always accompanied by gaiety and humor. I always look forward to your Saturday “God tweets,” which remind me not to take political and religious nonsense seriously.
JOB, I am now, 100%, a Seattle Seahawks’ fan! This bike is the biz! I loved motorcycles when I was younger and would have loved to ride this Seahawks bike.
I think your great grandson deserves a mini one if they are available. I am sure you are aware that as a great grandmother your role is to spoil him. Let his mother and his grandmother be the ones to worry about the havoc he may cause riding it around in the house or in the neighborhood. By the way, I never knew my great grandmother, but my grandmother, who passed away at age 101, spoiled me and my brothers and sisters. But she also taught me a great deal about life.
Sweet! Never knew my great grandparents, but I still think lovingly of my maternal grandmother and grandfather, neither of whom I ever heard a cross word from! Glad you have the same warm type memories!
In light of an encounter of my own today with the ugly and obese underbelly of this country, and amidst the Marcus Smart justifiable anger, I pulled up this video from a few days ago. I hope you guys can take the time to watch it… Like PBO says, “We look like the world.” And I LOVE my country for that, if, at times, I’m not lovin’ much else : (
Kathleen, I am so grateful that you posted this video as I had not seen the ‘behind the scenes’ version of the stunningly poignant Coca Cola commercial.
What a gift to be able to view this before trying to get a bit of rest!!! Thank you.
My hope is that millions upon millions of Americans – and others – will view it in the weeks and months ahead.
I am watching my taped Olympics a little behind the telecast cuz I like to speed up through the things I am not interested in as well as the commercials. I used to compete in baton twirling competitions in the days that girls were not in sports. I then progressed to judging competitions in baton and dance drill team competitions. Having this background gives me a little insight into the judging. Our US men’s skater has great potential. When he gets the quadruple he will be unstoppable. His difficulty, variety, and transitions into jumps as well as his showmanship and musicality were superb. Yulia was good but needs to mature in her style to be great. Gracie looked good. I certainly think the scores should have been closer than they were.
Wonderful, special photos, NW of our President & First Lady. And, then the tweets of the exceptional Ms Lupita Nyong’o – great way to enter a new week!!
Departing for the next several hours, will just request that all of you demand of the two folk in this tweet an absolutely unambiguous and robust commitment to support DEMS at the Federal, State, County, City, School District, etc., in EVERY State.
i’ve loved the wonderful photos of our fabulous first lady here today. just hopped over to the ‘mrs o’ blog for another dose of awesomeness, only to find that mrs t has decided to close down the blog. i’ve enjoyed seeing the first lady’s clothing choices, and reading the comments there–many women have been inspired by mrs obama to express themselves, and stand proud. lots of loving farewells in the final comments. thanks again to nerdy wonka and all the tyrants here for bringing us the images that keep us smiling through the political maelstrom.
Nice dem senator from Montana on MJ – saying a lot more in support of the President than Robert Gibbs – just said the ACA was a great boon for small business – with employees having health care available.
I am smiling now.
Hello NW.
Hello, COS!
Holy freaking awesomeness!
Wow indeed, NW! Lupita is absolutely gorgeous!
Lupita’s skin just gleams. (And I love that her name is Lupita. Because Spanish.)
In other matters, tonight’s menu, because it was awesome.
Broiled pollo asado. (Which is Mexican marinated chicken.)
And, the kicker: carrots, boiled, then sauteed in butter, soy sauce, and honey. #Heaven
We’re going back to limiting our carbs. We’ve been bad in that regard.
😀
Yep – think so too, especially with the bobble or two. She seems strong but unformed. But OMG – those spins with the leg straight up.
Thanks, Nerdy Wonka, for the beautiful pics of the Obamas showing their love for each other. They so remind me of my dearly departed mom and dad and how much they loved each other. Wonderful!!!
You’re welcome, Majiir. 😀

Lupita is simply gorgeous! Thanks for the pics, NW!
You’re welcome, Judith! Glad you enjoyed them. 😀

Thanks, Ms. J’OB! 😀

Love it! That’s exactly what I meant – Ha!
I am a Libra too nath, and I agree with you.
Thanks, Nath!

Yay!
For our Seattle friends … Seahawks porn:
JOB, I am now, 100%, a Seattle Seahawks’ fan! This bike is the biz! I loved motorcycles when I was younger and would have loved to ride this Seahawks bike.
I’m going to keep my 3-y/o great grandson from seeing it, because he’ll think we’ll be getting it for him!

p.s ^ it’s not the original commercial – it’s a lovely look at the non-actors who were a part of it.
yikes! wanted to play it one last time and see that somethin’ v. funky happened to it – j’boom you still around? anyone can fix? thx!
Hi, Kathleen – I fast forwarded through it (too tired to actually watch), and it looks like it’s showing okay to me! Not sure what you mean?

Goodnight, y’all!
Lovely!

Thanks for making this easy to RT, Bobfr! You have a way with words!
Thank you Judith!! 🙂

I completely missed the figure skating today – and that’s one sport I really wanted to see… drats!

Thank you!

YES WE MUST
I hope you get an answer to your tweet, Bobfr. I am still waiting for one of them to answer me.
