    Bringing this over

    Hear Hear Donna – you are so spot on.

    I have been working away on a web page of 2014 races. It is not as cute as i want it to be, it does not have all the data it needs to have, but it is a start.

    Please use this resource as you work on campaigns in 2014.

    I will bring on a co-chair for the OFA team and let them take on more responsibility in running OFA from April forward. Then I can take off my OFA hat and put on my “Organize Sonoma County for Dems hat” That’s a big hat.

    I think we can make a real difference in this election

    We need to be ready to

    1. Phone bank
    2. register voters
    3. Go door to door
    4. donate
    5. use facebook and twitter to spread the word

    We have the momentum, the GOP will make blunders as they did in 2012.

    As long as the President isn’t ready to quit then neither are we.

    Here is the page, it will look better in time. The senate is totally correct but I need to add more names. The house is kinda done, but the last few states have inaccurate links.

    With all of us working together we can make the page a starting point for folks who want to help and need a 1 stop to look for information.

      “As long as the President isn’t ready to quit then neither are we.”

      ABSOLUTELY, Linda!!!

      No surprise you are leading the charge in Sonoma County!!!

      I think it is important that from now until they finally get it, we need to bring #TwitterHeat to every ‘Dem leader’ until the are unequivocal in their words and obvious by their actions that they are ‘ALL IN’ to turning the 114th Congress a vibrant BLUE.

      These two must truly feel #TwitterHeat …

      Because, whether you like’um or not, if they get truly engaged for Dems – all across the country – it will make a big difference. And, if they had any skill at 21st Century American political calculus they’d realize they’d be acting in their own very best interests by doing so.

      Yes WE MUST

    I quoted Leader Pelosi on the previous blog…..after this one had started. She told Rachel once when Rachel was discouraged: “Don’t agonize, strategize.” That’s what Nancy Smash does……she plans, she encourages, she raises money…..she WORKS!

    • February 6, 2014 at 10:00 pm

      It’s the idea that life should be easy and everything should fall into your lap.

      Being raised Catholic, being raised by immigrant parents, the one thing they drummed into me was that, no, life is not easy. Oh, yes, you’ll have moments of luck, moments of bliss, moments of beauty. But the basis of any decent life is hard work. Discouragement achieves nothing. One has to encourage oneself, and we have to encourage each other, as that’s the only way anything gets accomplished.

        Come to think of it…..isn’t Nancy the daughter of immigrant parents……or is it immigrant grandparents. Anyway, she obviously has the same work ethic…….no entitlement. Too many WASPS have that sense of entitlement and privilege, and I can say that about WASPS, because I am one. I know whereof I speak. THE MOST entitled feeling people, all for an accident of birth.

    So, tried to get the dog member of our family to go out and pee and poop. He stepped out, went down the stairs, felt the rain, and gave me a look like “Are you fucking kidding me, Dad”. Promptly came back in. Schmuck.

    Carolyn, I remember those words Nancy Pelosi spoke to Rachel in that interview, and I have never forgotten them. Thanks for reminding us, Carolyn. HZ

      You know HZ, it’s been rolling around in my head a bit…..she might have said “Don’t agonize, organize.” But either way, she’s telling us to stop moaning and groaning and get off our butts and get to work……just more nicely 🙂

    I have absolutely no idea what went on in the world today (I know I’ll never catch up completely, but thank goodness for TOD), other than the first events of the Winter Olympics started. Woohoo!

    If there’s anyone who’s excited as I am, this link might be of interest to you. I, of course, cannot watch anything live from work tomorrow [Grrr!], but maybe somebody out there can put this to use:

    How To Watch The Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony Live

    Oh yeh, I did hear about the sorry-ass Senate GOP bastards screwing the unemployed once again. Just straight up EVIL!

      We can see it live in my world – despite it is in the middle of the night – seem to also have 8 online streams – but I’m not that interested. Winter sports are not really an Australian thing! We don’t do winter much anymore 🙂

        Then you can cheer on the Jamaican bobsled team! 🙂

        I hear they’ve inspired several other warm weather countries to bring in bobsled teams this year too. I think one of the teams is from Tonga, if you can believe that. 🙂

          We have a team there also (media talk about safety to the forefront) – but very small – I might watch the opening to check out the Tonga team 🙂

    I think that we will see PBO and FLOTUS spend a good deal of time raising money like crazy for the 2014 races and that will more than compensate for any ‘PAC’ that’s hoarding money for 2016. Right now voters haven’t got a clear idea of who’s running in their states because petitions aren’t filed and the primaries aren’t yet in full swing. We have learned through two grueling presidential runs how to organize and reach out to voters, so when we have candidates in place, it’s going to be up to us–no one else–to do the job. Organize, contribute, register voters, phone, knock on doors, spread the word and get out the vote. I’m positive the president is keeping close tabs on every race and will respond when asked or appropriate. Yes, we’ve got a big job ahead of us; let’s keep our spirits up and our hearts strong.

    Another fine Spandan essay … “Republicans Get Ready to Cave on the Debt Ceiling, Again”

    “For more than a year now, the president has drawn a bright line on the principle that fringe political movement does not get to extract concessions from the greatest nation on earth in order for Congress to simply pay the bills it racked up. The president has drawn the bright line and dared the Republicans to cross it. And every single time since then that the debt ceiling has come up, Republicans have gone close to it, and ultimately surrendered.

    And that is where the GOP is headed this time. They have gotten a taste of the public backlash from a government shutdown in October, and the party has no appetite for repeating it several fold by defaulting the United States and causing a real economic calamity – especially in an election year. Because despite convincing their base that the debt ceiling can be used to force the views of a fringe minority on the policies of an entire nation, Boehner and the Republican leadership know better.”

    Well, Yep!

    #TrustBarack … or get paved …

    a number of Dems are cowards who will only do the right thing if they are sure that the voters are demanding it;

    in order to get the attention of dems, I believe we ordinary people need to be out vocally on the street saying that we need ALL Dems must fight to get a Dem congress and senate;

    based on my observations, it seems that true independents only seem to support Dem when they see them actually fight for policies that benefit ordinary people;

    a very vocal movement for socio-economic justice is the one sure way to get the attention of Dems & strengthen their spines to support PBO’s agenda and fight with all they got;

    I feel that we, who support PBO have let him down repeatedly when we do not go out on the street and vocalize our support for his agenda – most of us wore tee-shirts and all kinds of creative stuff to get him elected, twice;

    but since once we cast the vote, we seem to leave PBO to fight the nutcases, alone;

    face it, media always wants a good footage before they can give due attention;
