Thanks HF, complete surprise! Out tonight to a meeting, having completed the course on CompassionateChoices/5 Wishes Advance Directives, am half way thru a class called Conscious Dying. Based on some of the foundational work of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, we hope to become more helpful to our clients and families in their final months, days and hours. It’s interesting.

Mighty Chipsticks!! 🙂 Did you see my comment in the last thread, where an email reply I sent to my cousin somehow ended up on the TOD thread? Very strange, I haven’t seen that kind of WP ‘magic’ before!! Lucky I wasn’t sharing any top secret info, eh?

I’m going to repeat what I wrote in response to LL’s excellent essay (posted earlier today):

Regarding ‘hidden agenda’ in your, as always, fine essay, LL – Putin & the Kochs are, and have always been, indistinguishable to me. As the Soviet Union was dissolving, I had several conversations with Russian emigres about the fact that members of the KGB would emerge, publicly, as what they already were – ultra-wealthy tyrants. We had no doubt that Putin would be at the head of the pack.

We know Snowden was interacting with Greenwald & Poitras well before he took the NSA contractor job in HI. Would not surprise me if it predated when Greenwald, stupidly, bragged about it:

“But is this how it really went down? Greenwald tweets today: “Bart Gellman’s claims about Snowden’s interactions with me—when, how and why—are all false.” And: “The reality is that Laura Poitras and I have been working with him since February, long before anyone spoke to Bart Gellman….I have no idea whether he had any conditions for WP, but he had none for us: we didn’t post all the slides.””

When one is pursuing the potential of a ‘hidden agenda’ in the saga of the traitorous actions of Snowden, Greenwald, and Poitras, one must be forever grateful to Greenwald for providing that chronological benchmark.

The plutocratic agenda of the Kochs aligns well with Putin’s national and international agenda. One need only look at West Virginia and Sochi to get a glimpse of the consequences – for the majority of humanity.

These are ruthlessly avaricious people. They view themselves as global tsars. Undermining cybersecurity of the US and its allies, in the age of information technology, would be high on my strategic list if I were one of them.

#SnowdenOpTruth – is all about how Snowden, Greenwald & Poitras INTENTIONALLY undermined US cybersecurity in a world in which cybersecurity is actually a 365/24/7 battlefield.

Do read the responses to Mrs. Greenspan. They’re hilariously delusional.

And man, did I time my piece or what?

Awwwwww—-sob—-no more Willard. I was so looking forward to another round of his charismatic appearances, maybe another treat of his rendition of “Davey Crockett”—–and Miss Ann’s sniveling face—-would have been SO FUN to see that again. But it is not to be. (sorry desperate Repubs who were trying to yank Willard off the car elevator due to the Cristie crash and burn)

    Dear Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) ,

I am doing a bit better day by day. I hope GoB, Tmngirl, Dudette, and all the others in a similar journey find courage, peace, and God’s grace to face the challenge.

Thanks for asking. And by the way, congrats on getting a reply from GM.

Enraging—-just saw on Tweety. How can this Ok. Rep. be allowed to remain in Congress—-as he basically agrees with a constituent who goes on an ugly anti-Obama rant, saying Obama should be “executed”, that he’s bringing in “all these Muslims” and other hysterical fantasies. Bridenstine replied that “everyone knows the lawlessness of this president etc. etc.” This is beyond the pale, beyond what should be acceptable behavior for a member of the U.S. Congress. Shouldn’t there be an ethics investigation, at the least?

What the GOP flock does no longer enrages nor surprises me. It is a very different kind of people. These creatures have no sense of who they are, let alone what decency is. It is unfortunate for the country because there seems to be a sizeable number of these indecent people throughout the country and what is worse in leadership positions and elected offices.

        February 5, 2014 at 8:05 pm

And sadly nothing stupid that comes from Oklahoma surprises me…..I live there! This Rep is absolutely reprehensible in every way. This Obama bringing Muslims idea is strong in certain quarters here. I don’t know what these people are reading or ingesting.
We have a number of Muslims in the state who are law abiding good citizens, whose children participate in school and school activities, who bring a richness to our society, but people like this woman and this rep know nothing of it.
We quit a church because these attitudes rose to the top after 2008. We could not stand it.
Yes, this rep is a fungus on the body politic.
On the other hand…..my husband went to his cardiologist today, and a man was in the office from North Carolina who regularly comes to OKC for his cardio appointments. In fact people come to this doctor from all over. Our medical care is top flight…….these idiots give us a bad name.

These are racists people, and then you have nuts out there who try to blame President Obama for the division in this country. No the problem for the divided country is racists people like that woman and that Congressman, people like John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Eric Canter, Paul Ryan, that weasel Prebius, and the leaders in the Republican Party who remain silent.

If I could frame a tweet for posterity, I would do so with @AllanJBrauer’s tweet.

    Alas, I could only retweet.

From everything I’ve seen of Mrs. Ezra Klein, she doesn’t have an analytic cell in her body. It seems that most of the young “it” bloggers that came of age in the last decade had a background in Economics, which is NOT Rocket Science, nor is it Foreign Policy. It’s pretty much modeling and guesses.

Loving my moment of schadenfreud (didn’t watch the Ezra portion of @Lawrence last night, just can’t tolerate listening to him — I think it was 99ts who said he talks likes he’s got marbles in his mouth, LOL).

However, I thought @Lawrence’s “rewrite” on the NFL (bad) socialism run amok was great. I had no idea that these money grubbing owners and players are NON-PROFIT. When did that happen? Their stadiums have been built by taxpayers for decades.

This makes no sense, especially because now a single Superbowl ticket cost the same as a season tickets for a NHL hockey team. Absolutely revolting that the God of money has overtaken what used to be a nice way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon with friends.

Oh dear – my major at university was economics! – what I learned as a student was – you could argue both sides of any issue – but to get the top marks – you argued the same side as the professor.

Economists who know what they are doing – and understand real world economics – can get top marks when they take the side against the Professor. Very few of the wonks ever did that – but anyone born after 1950 – who support Keynes – did exactly that. Economists of the 70s/80s/90s argued their souls against Keynes. Each and every financial cycle of the last 40 years have proven that Keynes is and was correct with the basics. Governments spend in bad times – and save in good times – not doing this is still causing grief from the 2008 financial collapse.

Mark Knoller was clearly on the edge of his seat watching this game – but for the opposite reason that we were. You can hear the sigh of relief in this silly tweet…

    • 67 Nerdy Wonka
      February 5, 2014 at 8:22 pm

Knoller is silly and infantile. CFPB Director Cordry wasn’t “defeated.” He answered the final Jeopardy question correctly. His opponent had more money to bet and that’s how the opponent won.

Richard Cordray was great and fun to watch.

    • February 5, 2014 at 8:28 pm

Damn! I can’t stand it when people in different time zones tweet spoilers. He should have capped the first two words. Or maybe I show read slower. Grrrrr!

      • 70 hopefruit2
        February 5, 2014 at 8:33 pm

As UT said, Knoller is so damn childish that he couldn’t help but rush to tweet that “Cordray was defeated” Never mind that there were THREE contestants, and Richard actually came in 2nd, not last place.

    • February 5, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Knoller could not guess his way out of a donut. I doubt if he could get past the interview.

Saying once again that you can’t fix stupid. One of our Republican house committees voted on a resolution yesterday to ask/encourage Sean Hannity to move to TN. I guess Hannity has made some comments about leaving NY and moving to another ‘friendlier red state.’ Can you all even believe this crap????? Of all the problems that TN or any other R led state has and a committee actually deliberates and votes on something like that????????

On another topic–me: I am doing really well. Good balance of rest and moving around. No pain and have cut way back on pain meds but do still take it. Even able to do a lot of stretching exercises in shower. Feeling blessed !

Agree, there have been a few petitions there that don’t appear to fit! Reminds me of the book from the ’08 campaign – something like Barack Obama is your new bicycle – all roads lead to President Obama! I guess in these cases it’s indicative of the greater trust in the White House, now, which IS a good thing.

Watched the WV press conference on Maddow’s show today. Interesting aside when the Governor was asked if he and his family drink the water he replied “Yes” with a beginning of a NO shake of his head. According to the body language taught in the Lie to Me series I am currently rewatching that is the sign of lying.

  25. February 5, 2014 at 11:18 pm

    Hi Y’all!

Went back to work today. It was great to get back, but I’m so exhausted my eyes are red & runny!
[Trust when I tell ya, not a good look for me!] 🙂

Kinda of bummed too. Can you believe they had the nerve to block TOD from our network while I was away? Grrrrrr!

Apparently some nameless person or person(s) at work have been spending too much time on blogsite, so they decided to put the kibosh on the whole deal. Sheesh! It’s like they never heard of multi-tasking! FASCISTS!

Now I can’t checkout what’s happening here during the workday unless I do it from my phone, which is a royal pain in the patootie. But, like Tawanda from Fried Green Tomatoes, YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME!

Anyway, I’m plum tuckered out, so I can only muster a quick minute for greetin’ & re-tweetin’. I wanted to especially thank you all for your thoughts and prayers as I ease down the road to recovery. I feel your love everyday – it gives me strength, it gives me joy, it gives me peace. I’m thinking of gobrooklyn, nclb, hz, nath, alycee and all of our friends who are in the middle of some very tough times. I’m sending you virtual chocolate-covered kisses and teddy bear hugs.

I’m hoping some of our other music aficiandos out there can hold down the fort at least until tomorrow evening, when I hope to be back on DJ duty — with bells on! 🙂

In the meantime, here’s a musical message from me to you! Love you guys!

What a lovely report of your day, Dudette. Coincidentally, when you wrote that being here feeling everybody’s love every day “gives me strength, it gives me joy, it gives me peace,” I’m sure I speak for TOD when I say that’s exactly how we all feel about your presence!

      Hello Dudette,

I thought of you earlier and had a special prayer for you and all the other residents/visitors with special challenge on this site. Glad to learn that your first day back at work went well. However, be mindful of checking the TOD hemisphere while I work. IT departments are very clever at knowing exactly how we spend our time on the computer. Be careful.
