I know I am guilty if this as well, But let us all start praying again for the President. After the 2012 awesome win, I know I relaxed and coasted through 2013. But as we start another year and By God’s Grace; 3 more glorious years. Let’s remember to pray for the president like we did in his first term.

Fired up! Listening to music ohvah here, to keep fired up through this long prelude to the SOTU!

Loosely translated, this one shows the raw strength that President Obama has brought us, to fight our adversaries and move forward. Makes us “stronger every day,” in our quest to support him. Like in the song, if we lost him, we would cry. Luckily, he’ll be our President for years more, not to get greedy, and I plan to be “as faithful as a puppy” in my support for him!!!!! And that white-haired guy who’ll be sitting behind him tonight, our Vice President, to whom I’ve been faithful as a puppy for decades, even though he doesn’t know that, of course. (Ha. I said “loosely”!)

Dotster, they’re very frightened of something, that’s for sure. If they really thought the president would mess up and no one would listen, they’d be relaxed and confident. Instead they’re desperately scrambling for some sort of Republican triumph. Reminds me a little bit of all the post first debate “he is doomed” discussion before PBO destroyed Romney in debate #2. Time to tune out.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the wrist at Roosevelt High School this morning and taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to the city Emergency Medical Services Division.

Police said a suspect is in custody.

The school was put on lockdown around 8:30 a.m. amid reports of gunshots being fired on the campus near Punchbowl. The state Department of Education tweeted that students will be released for the day at 10 a.m.

More than a dozen marked blue-and-white police cars lined Nehoa Street in front of Roosevelt High School and at least one ambulance was sent to the school, which has about 1,400 students.

School officials earlier sent out a text message to parents saying: “The situation at Roosevelt is under control. The Honolulu Police Department is wrapping up their investigation. Again, the situation is under control. Please remain calm.”

    GOOD GRIEF …….

    When one response becomes five

    By Steve Benen

Tonight, meanwhile, will be a veritable free for all. There will be one Democrat, the president, enjoying a high-profile stage. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) will deliver the official Republican response.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), meanwhile, will deliver a Tea Party response. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will deliver his own response. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) will deliver an official Republican response in Spanish. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will apparently deliver some kind of pre-buttal before the speech and its rebuttals.

      • January 28, 2014 at 3:50 pm

        NO Unity is correct….

but why is the press allowing anyone other than the “official” GOP to be aired?..

is it because more than just carrying the water of the GOP…the MSM loves spectacle…..sensationalism…. drama….

but imagine the precendent being set by allowing all these “non-official” rebuttals…esp in the case of Ran Paul and Ted Cruz….
when has a person ever got to deliver a rebuttal…not as a member of the opposing party but as an individual….
does that mean that now…ANYONE can give a rebuttal to the President’s SOTU address…

Since we cannot stop them AND the media facilitate (instead of curtailing) them (and because I’m kinda weird), I take the GOPs frenzied gallery to “rebut/pre-but” this president as a compliment to PBO. IMO whether they realize it or not they are acknowledging they do not have ONE person to take him on. Consider, each year they increase the number of responses (and that’s not counting the pundits who pile on) and still they come up short. In a way, GOP and media strategy to deal with this president has not grown at all in substance in all these years. They still splash mud on the walls, and as it slides down they peer with magnifying glass to see what sticks, and for how long. Yet, PBHO still has TWO TERMS BABY! 😆 😆 😆

Off to cook, so I can check in again ASAP with that out of the way.

Legislators in South Dakota would feel a lot more comfortable if they could pack heat at the workplace.

A Republican-sponsored bill that would allow elected officials with concealed weapons permits to carry guns in public buildings passed out of a state legislative committee on Tuesday.

The original bill would have permitted anyone with a concealed weapons permit to carry a gun in public buildings. It was then scaled back to include only elected officials and public employees.

The current version, which passed 8-5 in the state House Local Government Committee, applies only to elected officials. As the AP noted, South Dakota state law currently allows judges and law enforcement personnel to carry guns in public buildings.

“This bill was brought to defend those of us in this room and those county officials in the courtrooms,” state Rep. Betty Olson (R), the bill’s sponsor, said in defending the legislation.

According to the Argus Leader, Olson contended that Sen. John Thune (R-SD) should be able to carry his own concealed weapon in the state capitol if he so chooses.

The South Dakota legislature passed legislation last year to allow armed volunteers in schools. Dennis Daugaard, the state’s Republican governor, signed the so-called “school sentinels” bill into law.

Is killing our children so common that is does not even get reported until the next day now ?

Police in a North Carolina town are searching for a man who sprayed a church playground with gunfire, striking four youths and leaving a 12-year-old boy gravely wounded.

The Rev. James Gailliard at Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount said the shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, as about two dozen neighborhood teens played basketball on courts behind the sanctuary.

Gailliard was in his office when he heard more than 15 gunshots and ran outside. Among those hit was 12-year-old Nyreek Horne, who the preacher said was shot in the head. He cradled the bleeding boy until help arrived.
