Wow – Where have I been? Just found this post. Thanks so much, Chips. The poem was, of course, inspired not just by the photo, but by LL – who pointed out the young man in it.
Sometimes we need the people around us in any crowd to “point out” – and be – our inspirations, as we move forward in life!
It absolutely had to be ‘front-paged’ Jacqueline, it was simply beautiful. You’re a gem of a human being, thank you for sharing it with us.

Someone commented a relative does not vote but complains…they need to be called out as lazy, unpatroitic, and people like them have no right to complain. They are the reason things are so messed up. If more Dems voted there would be no Pres. Reagon, Bush I & 2, no 9 11, no Iraq & Afghan wars, less climate change, universal healthcare, and no deficits, etc. The reason we don’t have all this and more is because of nonvoting.

Former Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell didn’t always get everything she asked for from the Virginia businessman and political donor Jonnie Williams.
The Washington Post reported this weekend on a couple of instances when Williams felt “a little used and put her off,” according to people familiar with the account Williams gave to federal prosecutors.
According to the Post, after the McDonnell family had spent a vacation at Williams’ lake house, the McDonnells’ sons had driven Williams’ Range Rover home. Maureen McDonnell subsequently asked Williams if the boys could take the vehicle back to the University of Virginia. Williams said no. Not long after that, Maureen McDonnell called Williams with another idea: could he give her money to buy another of her children a used Ford Explorer. Again, Williams said no.
The McDonnells were indicted last week on more than a dozen charges related to the tens of thousands of dollars in gifts and loans they accepted from Williams, who previously ran a struggling dietary supplements company called Star Scientific.

CHESTERFIELD, SC (WBTV) –
A patient at a mental health facility in Chesterfield was shot and killed by a parole officer after officials say the patient attacked a psychiatrist inside.
According to the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, a patient was brought to the Tri-County Mental Health Center around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning for treatment.
When the psychiatrist was with the patient, staff members inside the clinic heard the patient become loud and argumentative. That’s when the agent went into the office.

Every time the President has to give a speech – it’s mass hysteria. I’m getting swamped with emails telling me to “tell President Obama” what he should or should not say tomorrow at the SOTU address. I’m seeing a whole bunch of tweets from various outlets soliciting “advice” from folks about what the President should say. Meanwhile no one seems the least bit interested in the fact that there are FOUR GOP “responses” to PBO’s SOTU address. I’m shaking my head as I type this….

WASHINGTON (AP) — A House plan to make major cuts to food stamps would be scaled back under a bipartisan agreement on a massive farm bill, a near end to a more than two-year fight that has threatened to hurt rural lawmakers in an election year.
The measure announced by the House and Senate Agriculture committees preserves food stamp benefits for most Americans who receive them and continues generous subsidies for farmers. The House could vote on the bill as soon as Wednesday.
The compromise was expected to cut food stamps by about $800 million a year, or around 1 percent. The House in September passed legislation cutting 5 percent from the $80 billion-a-year program.
The Democratic-controlled Senate had passed a bill with $400 million in annual food stamp cuts.
How are they choosing who can eat….
There is also a story that is Not always said. There was an increase in 2009/2010 Bill. As the economy continues to gain traction, there are some tapering down of funds to reflect also the facts. I am not sure that this part of the reporting is always mentioned. Just like the deficit and the slowing down due to Tax increases and some reduction in growth of some Gov agencies.

The state Supreme Court on Monday approved the language for the proposed constitutional amendment.
The justices gave its approval by a 4-3 vote just three days after a petition drive reached the required number of signatures to place the measure on the ballot.
The decision is a defeat for Attorney General Pam Bondi, who challenged the ballot language by saying it’s misleading.
Personal injury lawyer John Morgan has spent about $4 million to place the issue before voters.
Gov. Rick Scott is opposed to medical marijuana. His Democrats challengers, state Sen. Nan Rich and former Gov. Charlie Crist, both support it.
