Blimey – the man got the odd boo – deserved – and I’m in trouble!! If he wasn’t well enough to play – he should have let Fedex get out there and give the crowd a game for their money.
And a bright and cheery good morning to you to. I didn’t know you were a rafa fan – I find it amazing that he seems to grunt more when losing than winning. A distraction tactic?
Anyhow, I didn’t watch it all – I was watching the most delightful show – The Great British Bake-off. Only cooking show I ever watch . We’re a couple of years behind the production – one series we haven’t yet got to is now on youtube. Bit behind down under!
Oh boy Chips, VC will not be a happy camper because you managed to sneak in while she was getting the sleep out of her eyes. Congrats on being numero uno!
Morning everyone! This is what time you wake on Sunday when you fall asleep at 7:30 pm on Saturday! 🙂 I have no idea what’s going on or what I missed…. par for the course.
And my Stupid Democratic Gov. Dayton sent a letter to the President to ease regulations on propane gas and natural gas because of high prices happening because of the prolonged cold snap. Sometimes I just shake my head at some of these DLC’ers. We are to go back in the deep freeze again with blizzard conditions starting tonight. Damn can’t win this winter. Everyone else stay warm and out of the icky weather.
GM Roberta – I continue to be amazed that so many, so called political leaders, think the President can control anything and everything – despite they see that the congress keeps stopping so much that he tries to do.
Happy Sunday to the TOD morning crew. Lots of road trips for us ahead. We celebrate mother-in-law’s 94th birthday on Wednesday and then we’re off to babysit our little grandbaby on Thursday and Friday. I’m praying the weather gods are kind to travelers this week.
That’s an impressive birthday jackie – how delightful that she is still here to celebrate your grandbaby. Enjoy your visits and wishing you mild weather.
Thanks, 99. MIL has better eyesight and hearing than I do, drives responsibly, volunteers weekly to help teach life skills to prisoners, and visits the “elderly” in the nursing home. She still cooks, shops, cleans, reads extensively and never misses a trick. I’m certain she will be a centenarian–at least.
Listening to up with Steve – he really does allow both sides to have their say. There is a supporter of the Lt Gov ranting whenever given a chance to say something – and Steve does not interrupt him.
I’ve never watched Steve until this story broke – I find him impressive with how he treats his guests – and the guy was a loud mouth. His support of the Lt Gov had little basis in fact. Sounded a little like Queen Victoria – “Women just wouldn’t do that”!
I saw “Mitt” last night on Netflix, there was a scene after a Republican debate that Mitt said “Obama blew away everyone in the Democratic debate.” then Mitt started calling out all the names that then Senator Obama defeated. He mentioned Senator Clinton, Senator Biden, Governor Richardson, Senator Edwards, and Senator Dodd. All those names are the Who’s Who in politics, but Senator Obama was able to beat them and send them on their way. Mitt also said that “despite John McCain having all the military and foreign policy experience, Obama was still able to beat him.” There’s a scene at the end of the documentary that’s very sad and interesting, and it proves to be quite accurate about those that go up against Barack Obama.
Morning, Don! What would that very sad and interesting part at the end, be?? I’m not going to sit through that Mitt movie…inquiring minds want to know! The man sounds defeated before he even DID anything. Awful choice for President…sounds like people will see that if they watch. Now fess up and spill the beans on the ending:)
Ok desertflower, here goes. At the end of the documentary Mitt and Ann are standing in front of their home and its cold and dark outside and they are talking with the Secret Service people that had just dropped them off, not unlike a cab driver that has just dropped off his passengers. Mitt and Ann are carrying a couple of bags through the garage, they walk into their home and turn on the lights. And after some silence Mitt walks over to a big bay window and sits there looking out aimlessly, Ann sits quietly on the other side of the room on the edge of a sofa. It was sad in that just a few hours earlier Mitt was on the cusp of being President of the United States of America and now they were being dropped off like they were coming back from the grocery store. And now its just them two all alone in a big empty cold house and they have no idea what to do next.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. My heart aches. NOT. Thanks for the details. Yup, sad and pathetic that all their money and influence couldn’t buy them an election. We have that problem all the time, don’t we?
I’m snarkin’, but really..thanks, Don. Don’t believe you sat through the whole thing.
I like your description of the scene
“There’s a scene at the end of the documentary that’s very sad and interesting, and it proves to be quite accurate about those that go up against Barack Obama.”
It appears Romney really thought President Obama was going to be defeated. He didn’t believe the country would vote for him twice. Republicans see what they want to see – they do not see reality.
It’s much more than that 99ts, Mitt and his ilk thought that how can this little “you know what” win again. I’m a wealthy business man and I know how to run a country because I’ve run several businesses and a Olympics. Not once in the entire documentary did Mitt mention the middleclass or the poor, everything out of his mouth as about businesses he’s turned around. The entire family reeked of privilege and entitlement.
Which was exactly how he ran his campaign – all about Mitt – nothing about anyone else. His achievements were always based on what he was given by others – be it business or the olympics – but he thinks he did it all on his own.
And the media enables that delusion because the media, for the most part, is run by Republicans/Libertarians. With all those polls and endless hours of worthless punditry suggesting that PBO was going to lose or at best eke out a win in the electoral vote (while still losing the popular vote), the exaggerated hyperbolic lamenting of PBO’s first debate, and other such events, it was no wonder Willard went to Nov 6 with a mountain-sized ego that he was going to be President-elect Romney.
The media most recently fooled the GOP into thinking that the ACA and associated “problems” with the website was going to be THE issue of 2014 – thus there was clearly no planning on the part of the GOP for the current success of the law. Right now they have no coherent message to put up a convincing rebuttal to PBO’s SOTU address. They are forced to grasp on to straws provided by the likes of Snowdenwald – and that is about to fizzle just like IRS/Benghazi/Syria/ACA etc, because the American people simply aren’t buying what the GOP/Libertarian media is selling.
Amazing how everything the media/GOP threw at the administration was easily proven false, but the Governors problems are yet to be resolved – despite the GOP is trying so hard to say “move along”
The GOP is falling back on their never ending attacks on women – not sure what the media will find for their backstop – probably Snowdenski
So, goes to show that Mitt was delusional when he and Miss Ann thought that he had a chance against our magnificent President! Now, we have two sore losers (Mitt and McCain). Their loss to PBO will eat at their core forever.
The Presidency was the first thing Mitt had not been able to buy. He basically bought the Republican nomination. So, he was in disbelief about losing. Loss had never happened to him before. His only reaction is to demean the person who beat him. Al his TV appearances are total bitterness and anger at President Obama, not one bit of self-examination or reality acceptance. He’ll be eaten up the rest of his life. GOOD!!!
We share more than I ever knew – to me that makes the world a small and friendly place.
Very quiet Austalia day in my town – main activities relate to citizenship ceremonies and parties for new settlers – apparently from 150 different countries!
This looks like it’s going to be an important special, should be required viewing by all. 1 in 3 American homes now have guns, many loaded and not locked away—–accessible to kids. Young parents might want to inquire about same before they send their kids off to a play date at a friend’s home.
Good! This might be the ONLY way to get through to some of these imbeciles with their reckless and irresponsible behavior…they all think that this will never happen to them, until it does. They won’t read an article, but they’ll watch TV…so, if this drives the message home what guns have done to HARM and not PROTECT….all the better.
Twenty years ago when my children became old enough to go to others’ homes without me, I made them promise to leave a room if there was a gun-even a toy gun. They thought I was insane, but I drilled it into them. I told them that sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference and they were not to take any chances, just tell their friend their mom wouldn’t allow them to stay in the room with a gun, and then to call me ASAP. Even back then I knew of two children killed by guns; one was the cousin of a little girl in my class who was killed by another cousin playing with a gun, and the other was a boy who was sneaking around an elementary school at night with a toy gun who was killed by a policeman who thought he had a real gun. I think after that they made toy manufacturers put bright orange tips on the guns but I told my children to take no chances.
This photo just turns my stomach. I will never understand people who do this to their children. I will never understand people who feel the need to carry guns into restaurants and coffee shops, schools (places of LEARNING), WHEREVER. It’s disgusting and terrorizing and it is ruining our country.
Still listening to Steve K. Christie is a crook and evil. More and more and more keeps coming out. Will the people of NJ be open-minded enough now to realize what they’ve done????
He won’t survive as governor – whether they want him to say or not. I could not understand from the discussion why he cancelled the tunnel? Who benefited from that?
How wonderful it was to catch up on yesterday’s threads and see our wonderful {{Dudette}} was here for a bit last night. I’m so glad to read that she is doing better health wise. Even though many of us lurk at night and don’t comment we come here and read and listen to the music that she, amk and 99ts and others provide us overnight.
Hi Donna – I’m much more of a listener when it comes to music – my taste is in my boots. The beatles, the Everly brothers & Johnny Cash! with a smattering of Tchaikovsky. I love Dudette’s music because it is all so new to me.
I am lost for words – you are too kind meta – I speak the truth as it is in my world.
The mother of my grandbabe has been a musician since whenever (got it from her father). She tells me I have the worst taste in music ever. I’ve learned to live with it 🙂
I missed Dudette last night but so happy to hear that her health has improved and she’s well enough to post on TOD. I miss her excellent TOD DJ’ing and fabulous posts/tweets and look forward to seeing them again!
The Feds offered ex-gov Bob McDonnell a plea deal that would spared his wife any jail time, but McDonnell didn’t take it. And that ladies and gentlemen is the type of person he is, proclaiming yourself innocent is one thing, but not taking a deal that would have spared your wife is another. McDonnell was supposed to take that deal as soon as it was offered and I believe the Feds would have worked with him and his lawyer on a sentence that was somewhat digestable sentence, but since McDonnell can’t or won’t take the deal I think the Feds are really going to go after his ass.
Don’t think I’d want to be at their breakfast table this morning!!! Did anyone else notice her facial expression when on stage with him this past week! He was smiling…..and if looks could kill……..!
I work in a Federal Prison, the only thing worst than prison is going to prison. Christie had better have his come to Jesus moment, and quick. Trust me, the Feds don’t play games and they don’t wait for any man.
Full page ad in NY Times this morning. ” No Labels.” An alternative Party. Co-Chairmen Jon Huntsmann and Joe Manchin.
I’d like to suggest alternative names for this new political party:
No Brains
No Winners
No Heart
They didn’t start this “party”! I believe that was Mark McKinnon (sp) that did, years ago. I like Wonkette’s take on this “party” and it’s probably the closest thing to truth..
Their announcement: They had formed “No Labels,” a group of politicians and such who don’t like partisan politics for one of two reasons: 1. They lost their Republican primary this year, or 2. They’re Democrats who either want to seem above their party or are afraid of Republicans. Mainly, everyone present wanted to know if they were a political party. “This is not a political party and I am not running for president,” Bloomberg said, basically. Then The New York Times‘ very own Slate intern Matt Bai said something dumb, and No Labels stole some intellectual property.
For some reason somebody actually went to No Labels’ website, and it turns out they stole someone’s graphics of giraffes and seals and dogs! Cool! That is certainly a new paradigm!
This whole thing just cracks me up..”No Labels ” IS A LABEL!! If politicians would just do the honest work of the people’s business…we wouldn’t have to endure this BS to begin with!
I remember this. Ridculous then and ridiculous now.
Timing is what is interesting.
Expect every possible distraction from the State of The Union message.
That’s why Rand is getting extra ink this week.
Peggy N is bored.
NY Times is talking about dwindling audience.
See, when it is our beloved POTUS then SOTU is an unimportant artifact.
One would think that Manchin would have something more pressing to deal with, like his state not having clean water to drink. Poor West Virginia, one more mishap and it’s going to turn into “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.” My god must we have to endure Huntsman again, no not Jon, I’m talking about his obnoxious ass daughter. The one that thinks she has something interesting to say
One would think! I read this this morning and sent it to by best friend in Charleston. From Bill Moyers…just about the only journalist left on this entire planet that I trust. Read it and then connect the dots and follow the $$$$. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY!
is it possible for you to modify your tweet a little so that it includes the actual twitter handles of these two “dreamers”? I want to be sure that they or their people receive the message into their personal accounts.
prominent people who tried to push this through last two election cycles only used it for collecting money from the gullible ambitious people;
by the way look at the co-chairmen – political dead wood with not iota of charisma or core value – just searching for personal attention & naked ambition
Additional names associated with this are Joe Sestak and Evan Bayh—–deadwood indeed And I think a TOD favorite Ed Rendell when he isn’t busy hawking Fix The Debt for Pete Peterson might also be with this bunch of losers
This fucking guy and all his theories on “States Rights” which is another way of saying that blacks or gays or any other group that isn’t lilly white deserves any constitutional protections. I absolutely loathe this guy with ever fiber of my being; he’s lived and sucked on the government’s teat all his fucking life but god forbid some poor soul that needs a helping hand.
😎
I guess Man United is losing the next game, C-H-E-A-T-E-R.
Mata United will never lose again!
Good Sunday Morning Ms. Chips and Congrats on First. You are becoming a real expert at this first thing 😉
Thanks Donna, good mooooooorning!!!
More like early, early bird :-). Goooood morning!
Moooooorning CTGirl!!!
Morning
Good Morning Carly
Morning Donna Dem 🙂
😆 Look at those gorgeous faces!!!
so, your boy rafa lost. And a swiss won.
And the crowd booed the poor fella when his back gave out! Grrr.
exuses, exuses
Think I’ll put 99ts in spam for the day as punishment for that Ozzie booing.
Blimey – the man got the odd boo – deserved – and I’m in trouble!! If he wasn’t well enough to play – he should have let Fedex get out there and give the crowd a game for their money.
Boooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! 😆

It’s exceptional grunting though 99ts!
The Great British Bake-Off? John with the red hair won. Ooops, sorry.
Oh you just love to say “who done it”
And no – there is no thing such as “exceptional” grunting – time for it to be banned!
😆 😆 😆
Good morning…wishing everyone a wonderful a day!

GOP looks for unity within party
Visible cracks show GOP has a ways to go in addressing problems diagnosed after the 2012 election.
LOLGOP @LOLGOP 53m
——————————————————-
There will be 3 GOP responses to the State of the Union and all 3 will be from @MarcoRubio presenting his different views on immigration.
———————————————————-
Funny. I am sure that the Gulper will have chronic dry mouth after each response.
Sorta sad but darkly humorous
Dotster, metaphorically, this ‘peace killing’ will continue until the doves far outnumber the ‘hawks.’
Listening to up with Steve – he really does allow both sides to have their say. There is a supporter of the Lt Gov ranting whenever given a chance to say something – and Steve does not interrupt him.
Noticed the same thing. That guy was clutching at straws to support the Lt. Gov. and badmouth the Mayor.
I’ve never watched Steve until this story broke – I find him impressive with how he treats his guests – and the guy was a loud mouth. His support of the Lt Gov had little basis in fact. Sounded a little like Queen Victoria – “Women just wouldn’t do that”!
I agree with this Schäuble feller.

LOL – is there anything Obama-related that conservatives do not do with “hate?”
I didn’t know (until now) that your republic day was the same day as our Australia Day – small world 🙂
who you calling small world?
Yeah, son unit came down from the college just to watch the parade in my state. He lurvs everything military. /smh

Wow. Steamroller, indeed.
This kind of sums it up for me:
“Campbell, a Clinton ’08 leader, said she doesn’t view Clinton’s Iowa loss as a mistake per se.”
They had no real ground game. They relied on gimmicks and her infallibility. She was caught WAY off-guard.
Don’t have coffee/ food near your face. Blame Bob Cesca.

I posted about this last week. What a nasty dickless wonder he is. I hope he feels some real pain from all this.
I work in a Federal Prison, the only thing worst than prison is going to prison. Christie had better have his come to Jesus moment, and quick. Trust me, the Feds don’t play games and they don’t wait for any man.
Bob & Christie – both need to cut deals with the Feds;
I have read and seen enough about Federal Prison (with no chance of reducing the sentence) and I can’t play games with the Feds
But he could have gotten them all back if he had properly disbursed the foreclosure and Sandy funds.
DUDETTE WAS HERE LAST NIGHT?????? Now I have to go back and see:) hoping she’s feeling better and better everyday!
She was in mighty form DF, wonderful to see her back!!!
I just went back and saw her posts:) SO glad that she’s on the mend and back with us where she belongs. Missed her terribly:)

Excellent addition to Vicki’s names. Can I use them all in a tweet? 🙂

Agreed.

HF, a small suggestion :
is it possible for you to modify your tweet a little so that it includes the actual twitter handles of these two “dreamers”? I want to be sure that they or their people receive the message into their personal accounts.
thanks a lot
Great suggestion Linda!
thanks a lot! sent
total waste of time – going no where fast!
prominent people who tried to push this through last two election cycles only used it for collecting money from the gullible ambitious people;
by the way look at the co-chairmen – political dead wood with not iota of charisma or core value – just searching for personal attention & naked ambition
Additional names associated with this are Joe Sestak and Evan Bayh—–deadwood indeed And I think a TOD favorite Ed Rendell when he isn’t busy hawking Fix The Debt for Pete Peterson might also be with this bunch of losers
Not to mention out-of-office out-of-his-mind Michael Bloomberg
Put all these guys together and you’ve got a “Flowmax” commercial.
🙂
and that my friends is the “No Labels” ticket for 2016 Presidential contest…
DITTO. That’s a better way of saying what I said earlier…….about more and more and more coming out and how corrupt and evil he really is.
Happy Sunday to all.
I love this !!!!!
this is very creative message from the Nuns and it is full-throttled support of socio-economic justice with PBO policies collected – love it

I gave up on polls during the 2012 election. And you would think that killing Osama bin Laden the poll numbers would have went up 30 points or more.
Rise and Shine.
