    Congrats VC!!

Before departing — LL, you asked my thoughts on how Ukrainians would respond to the protest ban โ€“ check #Euromaidan TL over the past few hours.

โ€œWhere were you when the Ukrainian civil war started?โ€ is now a timely question โ€ฆ.

Chips – I asked a question about nathkatun7 at the bottom of the previous thread. Thank you

When did it start Bobfr? I can’t seem to remember anything. It’s a sin to wake up late on Sundays I see. It’s a sin to have a slow connection or be sick or not bring offerings to the alter either I guess. I’m doomed. Why would VC be offering tea of all things to calm a liberal down? I’m going to sign off, probably never hear from me again. . . Off to never never land. . .

I doubt Bobfr can answer this one …’Why would VC be offering tea of all things to calm a liberal down?’

Because, I’m a ‘believer’ in the restorative powers of herbal tea.
Because I never gave a thought to the repubs (until you mentioned them).
Because I’m sorta-kinda anti-alcohol, plus have no desire to be held accountable should my guest meet in a alcohol induced accident.
        Because, ……. just because. ๐Ÿ˜€

TY, Bobfr, and though a few people have asked, because Nathk has been a sporadic commenter working on west coast time, I don’t get the same sense of urgency. I’m crossing fingers and also hoping he went on holidays, or is away visiting relatives.

Didn’t think I’d ever need to tell you this – but you are WRONG, GrandmaD. The game played in the NFL has very little to do with FOOTball, even though they stole the name [The NFL was formed on August 20, 1920; FOOTball was being played in other countries waaayyy before then!]. Real football is the game in which the ball is played by the feet, AND handling the ball is forbidden! I’ve always resented that I had to change my mental framework and remember to call the real football game ‘soccer’. IMO ‘soccer’, or maybe ‘socc(h)im’ better fits as a name for the sport played in NA!!! ‘Tis another example of North Americans moving in and messing up a good thing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Good afternoon Nena20409,
      Happy Sunday to you!!!!

      Are you kidding me?
Jokester scumbag is no different than Christie….lies to no end.

He has been protecting Christ on his show all week and turning it on President Obama. It sounds like he is telling R.Maddow and the others to move on. I don’t think he can shut down Dr. Maddow on this, she appears to be an individual who would stand up to the jokester. He wants cover for his dear friend who has hurt others to line his own pockets.

I hope the twitter universe will serve him up raw, on a platter of nails and tar. Christie is the jokester’s savior who is going to “take back his America.”

Yes. I will look and see if I can find a Video in 2006/2007 when David G had a show on MSNBC and he had JoeScar, Dr. Maddow and two others on as his panelists. JS said something and Maddow corrected her with facts. JoeScar complained, got angry and left a Live show. True story and his show then, the Scarborough Country was tanking in the polls.

No way Dr Maddow, LOD, Kornacki or Hayes would not Report on Christie……no matter how loud or sad lying SOB JScar feels.

        • 73 Cindy
          January 19, 2014 at 2:51 pm

I don’t always agree with Dr. Maddow’s politics, but when she is bringing down the liars and exposing them for who and what they are, she deals with the facts. This is why she enjoy inviting them to come on her show because she can chew them up, and spit them out with the facts. I am still waiting on the Koch brothers to take her up on her offer. They have “not” accepted her offer.

Funny thing, if this Mayor (Mrs. Zimmer) wasn’t telling the truth about the Hoboken shake down, I believe that Christie would be on every station calling her a liar. I haven’t heard them call her a liar the way he did his chief deputy (can’t think of her name). No one in his camp is calling her a liar about “the statements” that were made to her. That is what I find very interesting .

                  Ooooohhhhhh yeah,

Dr. Maddow can definitely handle pouty face jokester. He always want to be right-regardless of facts. He is nothing more than an over zealous talking bull dog for his man Christie. He invites the others to his morning show; Lawrence, The Rev, Matthew and Hayes but I notice Dr. Maddow is left off his list.

He loves to out talk the panel, he ask a question and if it doesn’t line up with what he “wants to hear”, then he immediately cuts them off, and she called him out for it and poor pouty boy got mad and left. The jokester is scum and he wants everyone to agree with his lies, he was trying to protect old man McCain and Dr. Maddow spoke the truth and presented the facts. Home boy “can’t handle the truth” and he leaves; tail stuck between his legs so that he could lick his manly wounds from Dr. Maddow’s beat down.

I would love to see him attack her on her coverage. I would put my money on Rachael to beat him down and see him crawl off like the slime that he is.

                  Thank you Nena!!!!!

He hangs on his mini time in elected office like it’s all that’s keeping him upright and employed, and – of course – it is (similar to others who come on his show, including those disgraced in journalism). Morning Joke is like rehab for losers. Joe’s definitely a misogynist, although that’s not his only character flaw. And why people like Mika and entities like MSNBC allow his bullshit right in front of them, we’ll never know – although having the goods on someone like Phil Griffin is my first thought.

Exhibit Shows Adelman’s Civil Rights-Era Photos
    JAN. 19, 2014, 11:39 A.M. E.S.T.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. โ€” Flipping through a stack of color images he shot during a 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., photographer Bob Adelman is casual about the history they represent.

He pauses at the image of a group of people with clasped hands raised in victory at a Montgomery, Ala., cab stand, where people had gathered during the city’s long bus boycott a decade earlier, and calls them “real King fans.” Pointing to the second floor of the Alabama Capitol, behind a line of green-helmeted troops, he chuckles as he remembers, “Gov. Wallace was hiding behind the curtains up there.”

Then there’s the man with his fist raised in mid-speech, whom he calls “Doc” — better known as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Now they seem like momentous events. At the time, they were covered in the back pages of newspapers, for the most part. The only time blacks appeared in newspapers at that time was when there was violence,” Adelman said.

The images are among roughly 150 assembled at Nova Southeastern University’s Museum of Art-Fort Lauderdale for an exhibit marking the half-century since the Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964.

Adelman volunteered his services as a photographer to the Congress of Racial Equality and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. He went on to shoot the covers of national magazines and the front pages of national newspapers, but he always considered himself an activist.

“Unlike photojournalists trying to get the shot, this is somebody that is part of the circle really recognizing the role he can play in bringing about change through his images,” museum director Bonnie Clearwater said.

The exhibit is titled “The Movement,” referring to both the efforts to end segregation in America and Adelman’s aesthetic as a photographer, Clearwater said.

Just a random comment. I particularly like how the Hoboken Mayor said that when she was confronted during the televised panel discussion, on Christie’s behalf, even the sound engineers probably picked up on the conversation … meaning it could possibly have been recorded and/or heard by a person outside politics … aka a new witness to her account. Probably why Christie hasn’t apparently directly called her a liar, since there may be proof. Love it.

Somebody’s digging for it as we write about it, I’m hoping! I’m not going to put down the Hoboken Mayor for being late in her coming forward with the story, at least she did, but if she had confided in some federal official early on, they might have performed a sting operation via her to get it on tape. She could have said, “Proceed, Governor,” and he woulda been history already!

I feel sad for her, Mrs. Zimmer, because she was trying to put the people interest ahead of politics so that they would be helped. How could they (Christie and the mobsters) see this town in need and play politics with their lives? I have no understanding of this.

What I have noticed; they (bull dogs for Christie) have called it politics but they haven’t called her a liar for the statements and allegations that she has made. No one from his office has called her a liar. I suspect, they are wondering if a tape is involved.

        • 103 africa
          January 19, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Given what we’ve learned about the Christie gang, I can see why she did not come forward. This was somebody who supported him and then saw his shake down moves. At least she had the good sense to jot it down. She will be ripped apart, but she did the right thing by speaking up.

I can bet a leg, there are many more stories like hers out there. Many more.

            Happy Sunday Africa,
I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I just pray that the people of Hoboken support her in all that she is going to endure. I believe that they are going to try and force her out of office. I love the fact that she offered to take a lie detector test and asked; would they do the same?

          • 106 jacquelineoboomer
            January 19, 2014 at 4:40 pm

Yes, her contemporaneous diary entries are definitely good evidence – of many things, including the fact she wasn’t “on the take” from day one. She was shocked by what was going on, at that particular time. Now, let’s see if there are other “profiles in courage” who know something, as you said!

        • 107 99ts
          January 19, 2014 at 5:41 pm

          Hi JoB

I’m sure if she had come forward before Bridgegate Christie and cronies would have been virulent in their response. She would have been bullied out of a job – everyone would have called her a liar – and her town would have suffered – more than it already has suffered.

She knew there would be no written/recorded proof. She has explained perfectly why Christie thinks he is free from bridgegate – he has probably berated his staff endlessly about putting nothing in writing to him about these activities – all of the promises/threats are doen verbally – the prosecutor knows he will win the he said/she said argument – he is the Governor – he cleaned up the state etc etc
