      Of course Christie will blame the messenger……that is standard procedure for a malignant narcissist such as Christie. He’s too late…the jack is already out of the box. You can’t push it back down without it popping up again. All Christie has left is to blame MSNBC. Scott in Fla didn’t want to be seen with him, Lindsay Graham said it would be better for him not to come to So. Carolina…….the dominoes are falling.
      As to planning a foreign trip to make him look like some foreign policy expert……well, as his person said…..that’s a little indefinite now.

      I suspect Maddow and Kornacki expect this push back from Christie and they ought to be ready;

      the push back will be tried but the FBI and other agencies of the Fed are already on it – too late now;

      besides, if one thing about the republicans is that all those with presidential aspirations will find a way to make this story bigger!

    • January 18, 2014 at 6:59 pm

      Jovie, when a person tell you who they are, don’t be surprise when they prove it (e.g., Chris Christie is a bully). Christie’s very response validates his ignorant bully behavior.

      If the Koch brothers didn’t get their script read on MSNBC I don’t think that Christie will either, do you, Jovie? Thanks for the info once again. If Christie and his circle have been bullying, running an influence racket, holding back needed relief funds from stricken communities, making petty and vindictive moves over the last few years, there will be more and more people speaking out. There is a social theory about the bystanding issue. Once someone takes a step to intervene against the harm and bullying, other people step up as well when they may have hung back before. It may not be just people who were themselves harmed but those that watched it happen while serving Christie or from the sidelines while a fellow mayor or politician, etc. was intimidated and now feels compelled to share their story.

    It seems multiple times a week I read in the Chgo Trib about cell phone thefts, accompanied by assault, shooting injuries or fatalities. I see today a teen shot after he handed over his phone has died. I know there was a push to get cell phone makers to implement anti-theft software that can remotely deactivate stolen phones, but the cell phone makers have refused because——–would eat into their profits from selling phone insurance programs. Profits over people again. Disgusting. I think this proposal needs to be re-introduced, force it on the cell phone corps. This is such a stupid crime, lots of needless loss of life and one that could be wiped out with a little decent cooperation from the cell phone industry.

    Uh oh—–it’s Obama’s fault! Actually the NBC News report was mostly devastating for Christie, Michael Isikoff reporting on the charges of political strong arming, showing clips of the statements by the Hoboken mayor, Kornacki, vids of the city drowning after Sandy etc. And the response from the Christie camp was hysterical, that they have done everything possible to help Hoboken recover and that more money will be coming their way whenever that darn Obama administration approves the next round of funds. So if you’ve been wondering—-it’s all Obama’s fault. I don’t think that’s going to fly.

      January 18, 2014 at 6:50 pm

      Yes…here’s the statement: http://www.msnbc.com/steve-kornacki/christie-statement

      “MSNBC is a partisan network that has been openly hostile to Governor Christie and almost gleeful in their efforts attacking him, even taking the unprecedented step of producing and airing a nearly three-minute attack ad against him this week. Governor Christie and his entire administration have been helping Hoboken get the help they need after Sandy, with the city already having been approved for nearly $70 million dollars in federal aid and is targeted to get even more when the Obama Administration approves the next rounds of funding. The Governor and Mayor Zimmer have had a productive relationship, with Mayor Zimmer even recently saying she’s ‘very glad’ he’s been our Governor. It’s very clear partisan politics are at play here as Democratic mayors with a political axe to grind come out of the woodwork and try to get their faces on television.”

      There’s more bs drivel at the link. What a piece of work.

        The only media that the GOP says is non-partisan is the media that supports the GOP 100% of the time. MSNBC has attacked the president on so many fronts so many times – yet Christie proclaims it is a partisan network.

        MSNBC SHOULD become the Fox of the left – they would gain viewers by the thousands – and be forced to tell the truth – all the time.

        MJ opens his mouth and blames the President because Chris Christie is a liar. If it weren’t for Benghazi!! Christie would never have staff that close lanes on bridges.

        There is NO way the Mayor of Hoboken had 70 million coming before Saturday – about 9am – if she had known that to be a truth – she would never have gone on the program. Waiting for Christie to fly over and tell her all about it.

        Every pundit HAS to preface their statements with “IF the Governor did not know”

    when christie’s bridgegate scandal first broke, I wrote a comment here cautioning that from the appearances, this could be a story that exposes the corrupt and/or christie-collaborating Dems in NJ;

    I mentioned that logically, if a Mayor was punished for not cooperating, it follows that others were rewarded for cooperating;

    I think that this would be a good time to review Barbara Buono’s concession speech and how she criticized fellow Dems for supporting christie inspite of his rightwing policy record and bullying;

    once again, this may be a chance for NJ to do another round of political clean up of politicians who find it very easy to choose political expedience instead of the people’s interests;

    some Dems may be going down with sinking Christie (and he is vengeful enough to want them in jail with him);

          The way politics is usually played. When your opponents are stumbling, step out of the way and let them fall politically. I doubt that Corey Booker is like Christie. His past behavior is quite the opposite. He goes out of his way to help those in distress. Christie takes a Limo and a Helicopter ride for 200 yrs and a few blocks respectively to showcase that he is entitled and his Governorship is saluted by all.

    I didn’t want to be a “Debbie Downer” yesterday on Michelle’s big five-O celebration, but yesterday was the 20th anniversary of the Northridge earthquake, which occurred on the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

    Thank God this earthquake happened at 4:31 am on a holiday morning. I worked very close to the Northridge Mall (where one worker was killed as he swept a parking structure that collapsed). The building I worked in had 90% of its windows blown out, and an A/C unit crashed from the ceiling into a cubicle. Our building reopened for business a month later, though I was called into work (working from trailers and outdoors [yes, portapotties] at first) the following day.

    When I went to work the following day, National Guard personnel lined the streets. It was an odd feeling seeing men in camoflage an tanks in parking lots (many not have been tanks, but whatever all-terrain vehicles they used at the time).

    So as we get ready to fete another MLK Jr. holiday, remember how grateful Angelenos were for this holiday 20 years yesterday.

    The Shooting Ranch, in Texas of course – I’ll say no more.

    Outside of Austin there’s a place called Creedmore, which is dangerously close to the thriving metropolis of Buda. It used to be a quite, rural area.

    Not so much now.

    The day after Christmas, The Shooting Ranch opened. It’s not so much a ranch as it is a berm with crazy people on the other side.

    “Enjoy a day of unlimited shooting! We offer a special shooting package starting at a flat rate of $19.99 for an entire day. Kids ages 6-16 shoot for half price, just $10 for all day. Little ones under age 6 shoot for free. Golden shooters ages 75+ shoot for $13 all day. Our single flat rate is a bargain when you consider that many ranges charge by the hour to only offer paper targets.”

    Okay, so you can go shoot a gun without a license or any sort. That’s a big deal. Until …

    “Karla Gray says bullets have been whizzing by her home and office which sit about 3,100 feet away from the range.

    “We covered up the hole in this window, but the bullet continued across the desk and embedded in these folders,”

        I keep a side eye on Texas because my father and his wife live there – but I have never been able to figure out why. Last time I visited *he* ( a man whose memory is going) owns a gun! I won’t mention that there was one day he couldn’t even remember where he had placed it! Maybe the gun obsession comes from the drinking water, though not everyone gets tainted.

        • January 18, 2014 at 10:42 pm

          VC, your story reminded me of my Grandmother, who in her nineties, one day during casual conversation mentioned that she owned a gun.

          I was shocked…”You have a gun?”.

          “Sure do…I’m ready for them should they decide to come and bother me.”

          I remained calm. “Where do you keep it”, I asked.

          She answered like a woman ready for the quick-draw, “I keep it upstairs in the walk in closet, on the back wall top shelf in that big round hatbox.”

            Was your grandmother living in Texas too? 😉
            Truth be told FayP, I believe I could better handle where your grandma kept hers and the fact she knew where it was. My father apparently couldn’t move far WITHIN THE HOUSE without having his gun handy so that he too could be ‘ready for them should they decide to come and bother’ him. The fact that his everyday movements are not the steadiest didn’t seem to register with him. When he finally located it, after an entire day’s search in which both my stepmother and I had become gradually apprehensive, it was in the cutlery dresser. 😯 Stepmother told me he has to have it handy at all times, yet he often forgets where he has left it! Honestly, I respect her patience, tolerance and love (??); she and I have great conversations, but I haven’t a clue how she lives with him!

            • January 18, 2014 at 11:08 pm

              That’s just a little scary! In my Grandmother’s case, I couldn’t help but think it would take her forever to get to her gun, especially since one needed a step-stool to reach the top shelf. Did I mention the hatbox was tied with a fancy satin ribbon? Old folks. 🙂

    Yet Christie called on Kelly O during his presser. Walked up To Craig Melvin as he walked towards Fort Lee Town Hall to fake his apology and then shook Chuck Todd’s hand as Christie stepped off a Bus just days ago? So when did Christie discover the Partisan of MSNBC?

      Does anyone remember the name of the wait staffer who a/v’d Romney’s “47 percent” remarks at the big-donor fundraiser? I know I started following him on Twitter and must go find him to see if he managed to get into this gig. Ha!

        Scott Prouty, although he went by the name of Sue Denim (pseudonym) when he sent the videos to Rachel and what’s his name on DK, although I’m unsure how he spelled it.

    Rita Moreno coming up on SAG awards show. Back in the ’60s, for some reason our Catholic high school got tickets and marched us all to the downtown movie theater to see West Side Story. My homeroom nun was LIVID when we returned, and yelled at all of us for laughing and yelling while they were “kissing and making googly eyes at one another” up on the screen – while we were in public in our school uniforms in front of members of the public in the public theater. Behind the scenes, we laughed and laughed because the school not only got the tickets but marched us there during school hours to see all that kissing. #ADayInTheLifeOfAMemberOfTheRockNRollGeneration
