Mark Kirk (R-Il) got to go undercover for the vote. He knew there would be 5 votes to carry the ayes. Now, he can just sit this one out because they’ll be votes to pass the thing. I’m gonna do my best to GOTV against this guy.
I remember shortly after PBO took office in 2009 being very upset by one Mark Kirk Repub from IL and thinking his actions were traitorous. He had been bad mouthing PBO’s stimulus plans saying he would go to China himself to convince them not to loan any money to us. A foreshadowing of GOP obstruction to come although at that point I had not seen it in action. He did not go. All mouth and no action, but that does not make his mouth any less dangerous.
So the worse Speaker in history has release some statement, same old B.S. He is going to focus on jobs, trying to save his and those wacko nuts who boss him.
Visiting granddaughter’s 26-y/o friend here in Illinois (nobody knew his political persuasion) just said “Obamacare” out loud with a chuckle, when I said I was watching the presser. Granddaughter told him he’d better not say anything bad about President Obama in front of me. I reminded him he might be sitting outside on the front porch in the snow.
Then he said those magical words: “Don’t worry about me – I voted for Obama.” And I walked over and gave him a big hug (I’ve known him for years, too, so that wasn’t as odd as it may appear).
Nah. My maternal granny was a terror. Though she never finished high school, she made 2 doctors, 1 lecturer with double degrees, 1 accountant and 1 businessman. All on her husband’s meager salary as a clerk. Since I was a troublemaker in my early years, I was packed off to her home and it took only 3 years for her to straighten me out. A very tenacious disciplinarian.
Only 3 years? Good for her to do that snap turnaround! (Love your story.)
Luckily, no one “crosses” me here, but not because I’m a very tenacious disciplinarian. More because of their fear of what I “might” do (there are stories my son feeds them – Ha!). My new favorite line to the younger ones is:
Sounds as though you’ve been trained by experts, so I pity them, too! 🙂
These were my grandma rules when I first had visiting grandchildren 20+ years ago (still are):
1. Have fun.
2. Listen to everything I say, so I can have fun, too.
Scheduled for 11:40 am. – Livestream for Vice President Biden Speaks on Infrastructure and Other Investments in the Wake of Hurricane Sandy – http://www.governor.ny.gov/
I wish he would turn around and say something like ” Your Senator just voted to deny your emergency unemployment “. Surely some of them have Republicans as Senators …
Thankful for David Plouffe being in a position to hit back when POB needs it on the outside. We all working together with him can move this along more smoothly.
I think Layla is right. We have a team out here who can keep his back, for sure. Surely, we realize that POB can speak loud and clear on his own, but he does know how to read the Congress, and like Layla stated,”he does not want to antagonize right out of the gate, but do not expect him to stand next to the gate too much longer, Congress. He will be playing his card fair and square as always, but he is tired of the BS from Congress. Gloves on as ever.HZ
Best summary yet of House GOP. We should always say GOP so people don’t confuse their frustration with congress with the efforts
of House Dems. I wish all surveys could distinguish between GOP led House and Dem led Senate.
POTUS is back! Looking tan and healthy but I thought a little sad. Watch his eyes when the woman who introduced him talked about wearing her hat and coat in her house to stay warm.
People like Rand Paul are batshitcrazy – for me, that’s a given. Boehner I really, really, reaaallly dislike. He has power where as Rand has little. Boehner says UI most be offset. This guy is worst than the stuff on the bottom of my shoes after walking through a doggy park.
I was just talking about this very thing with some friends. These Republicans don’t give a dam about being fiscal responsible, if they did why did they close the government down, and nearly destroy the faith and credit of the United States. As I said before this is all about not wanting to help this President, if that means people have to suffer so be it. The people they care about is doing just fine, the rich folks.
This vote was completely egregious. He is a sociopathic bastard. he calls a press conference every time he pushes to have more physical therapy sessions for stroke victims on Medicaid, but couldn’t care less about anybody else’s health or livelihood. Yet he’ll parade like a ‘moderate’ and maybe get away with it. It’s what he’s done in the past, but this time we have votes like this to point to. He’s a RWNJ in moderate clothing.
Here’s a perfect example. GOP objection is being portrayed as merely an issue of how to pay for UI benefits when that has never been an issue in the past. Meanwhile we all know it’s their unhinged and deranged ideology. And obstruction for obstruction sake. They just are not fit to govern.

Hey donna dem 4 Obama,
I don’t know if you know this, but some of us were waiting for our dinner invitation on Sunday. You had to go and tease us with “smothered pork chops” and warm apple pie : ( not a good thing to do and then run off.
I was in Piccadilly on Monday, and I actually thought about your awesome meal; they had smothered pork chops and they were looking real good. Of course I am sure that yours are better. : ) Please send us invitations the next time….
Ahh Cindy most here know that my dinners are always open invitations. Sunday is family day and I consider TOD my online family. I must say that my sons did devour those pork chops. 😆
They voted 60 – 37 (54 Dems + 6 Repubs) to bring the bill to the floor and right now, they’re having general speeches about the bill, on the Senate floor.
Me
Cheeeeeeeeat!
You’re one to talk.
Good morning Chipsticks,
I just want to know the secret for getting here first, I want to play : (
Morning Cindy! I would share my secret, but that would be like Coca Cola giving away their recipe – so, no can do!
Oh you can tell her alright, but then her pixels will have to come out with their hands up and be ridden out of cybertown at high noon.
😆 You’re a hoot Cookemom, a wordsmith!!
Ok : ), I am going to work on this until I can figure out the “GREAT SECRET.” Once I do, I will not share my 1st…..
Congrats ut!
You are speedy, ut

And this is so weird for an outsider to understand – how does Il vote for a GOP Senator?
Congratulations indeed, Mr. Vice President. HZ
And yet they keep voting this fucker time and after time. All these polls have become pretty useless.
Turkeys voting for Christmas. Unbelievable.
So the worse Speaker in history has release some statement, same old B.S. He is going to focus on jobs, trying to save his and those wacko nuts who boss him.
Since 2010 that is the only jobs he has focus on.
Common sense doesn’t reach Republicans, because they have none. They hate this black guy in office more then they want to do the right thing.
That’s fine but has he articulated the area of the so called focus? Any specifics, I wonder??? NAW.
Boehner is just running his mouth as usual. What kind of job bill have Boehner put forth during the three years he has been speaker?
0-zero-zip-nada-none!

who is not afraid of granny?
you? Ha!
Nah. My maternal granny was a terror. Though she never finished high school, she made 2 doctors, 1 lecturer with double degrees, 1 accountant and 1 businessman. “Since I was a troublemaker in my early years”
Early?
EARLY?
Look, be glad I turned out the way I am now. Being her first grandson helped.
I am glad Amk. No, honest, I am. 😆
heh, lemon, lemonades and all that.
She would tell some great stories. Fav past time for all us kids.
Did she ever read you this:
Can’t think who it reminds me of.
I was really him. Terrible.
Only 3 years? Good for her to do that snap turnaround! (Love your story.)

Scary, eh?
🙂 Granmas are.
I pity my future grandkids.

Make that a hot lunch!!!!! And a hug from me!
I just told him you said that and he laughed!

I do not think PBO wishes to antagonize anyone right now! He knows damn well it would make matters even worse IMHO
Love this, Bobfr! 🙂

I know Vicki…PBO feels the American people!
Yes. I think he always thinks about his young mother when she was struggling, and everybody’s mother who’s struggling now.

If only there was a honest US media …
May I share an exchange between myself and yardarm on the last thread. Made me laugh out loud:
“I would rather throw snowballs at my effing Senator, Mark Kirk, who voted against UI extension. That heartless, piece of shit.
yardarm: “Put some black ice on his wheelchair ramp.”
😆 😆 You two are sooooooo bad, but Shipmate is marginally badder!!
I’m a nurse, I will take care of the ramp thing…now black ice…do I need to get that from black people…
You’re bad……..
No, Layla. I can show you how we can make that. I was good at doing that in college. No problem.HZ
I hope you did not take offense HZ. I was mocking redneck ignorants!
count me in, he’s got to go.

Watch the media shower the GOP with praise because 10% of them voted for UI….
Bipartisanship!!! It’s a beautiful thing!!!!
And hence the preemptive fact pushing. 🙂
Smart. I noticed that DWS is also taking a page from your book on that preemptive fact pushing.

LMAO! Meeting Boy is always complaining about one thing or another….
antes and Tours have become the latest French cities to ban a show by controversial comic Dieudonne M’bala M’bala.
Dieudonne, who has six convictions for hate speech against Jews, had been due to open his tour in Nantes on Thursday.
Bordeaux and Marseille had already cancelled performances.
President Francois Hollande earlier urged French officials to enforce an order authorising the ban, but Dieudonne has vowed to appeal.
The comic has quipped about gas chambers and is accused of deriding Holocaust survivors and victims.
But he denies his trademark “quenelle” gesture is an inverted Nazi salute, instead describing it as an anti-establishment sign.

Great beginning of a plan to GOTV …PBO has shown us how it can be done…
Motivate….
Organize….
GOTV….
It is NOT impossible…we have beat them TWICE!
#YesWeCan!
One party offers a helping hand, white the other party just gives you the finger.
White Privilege in action. 5 white guys + 1 dead white woman = intellectual.
Blacks and President Obama must come with caveats to be considered intellectuals. Wow.
Thank goodness he’s getting his butt handed to him.
the punkt is trolling. just mock & spank.
What about Mr Magoo Dylan….he’s white!
When does the Senate vote on UI extension? They just did the vote on proceeding to the vote, correct?
They voted 60 – 37 (54 Dems + 6 Repubs) to bring the bill to the floor and right now, they’re having general speeches about the bill, on the Senate floor.
The Hatred is there for all to see …if they choose too..
Yes..they LOVE HATRED!!!!!!!
This is ohhhh so true!!!
New post.
