I just come here after a hard days work, after a 2 week vacation, and I get growled at by the blog mistress of the dark? WTH! Some here would say that you are a ” c word”…..I choose to think that you have phenomenal dexterity and are particularly good at sneaking in the front door to first, while simultaneously hitting “Post Comment”…you know, the one you’ve written A HEAD OF TIME. Amiright?

Let’s clarify what that “c word” was…it was cheater. Everyone who thought differently, get your mind out of the gutter. I hate that word.

Now, Chips…about that crush on this guy….are you KIDDING ME??? Yikes.

Thank you sweetness….you had a much nicer greeting for me than Danny’s mom did… 🙂 How did you fare today with your “warm” temps? Cozy, huh? Been in 120 here…106 is balmy!

106 is balmy – I would have said barmy 🙂

I try to avoid the 120 option – today is under 90 – but I still believe in climate change – despite the northern freeze.

Are you still on vacation? or back in the world of teachers?

Yes…back to work! Woke up at 3am this morning so afraid that I would sleep through my alarm and be late for school! Crazy woman that I am…come to find out from other teachers I spoke with today…..seems EVERYONE OF US had that same thought and were up all night 🙂 Good to be back though….could get too used to lounging around otherwise…that would be bad. Really bad.

THIS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL DIRTY (Ed ‘Cheshire Cat’ Henry strikes again from the front row.)

Fox News Continues to Blow the Obama Vacation Dog-Whistle

    By Bob Cesca

According to Tommy Christopher, Henry asked press secretary Jay Carney, “The First Lady stayed behind in Hawaii, and the White House said that was an early birthday present from the President. Does that mean he’s paying for the flight back, or are the taxpayers paying for it?”

No such questions were ever raised about Laura Bush or any other past POTUS. In the era of pres Obama, what used to be is No longer and what is today are unheard of in our history.

Nena, no such questions were raised about Laura Bush vacations and trips.. But we all know what the problem is. B-L-A-C-K. How dare those black folks do only what any other President and his family have done.

I could not believe that question at the end of the presser today dripping with sarcasm and contempt. It just made me want to take a shower. It was really disgusting. Meanwhile, all of the questions about getting unemployment insurance extended (for just three months) were focused on what the Republicans wanted in return and not on the Americans who will be impacted. Thankfully, Gene Sperling did a good job explaining the impact. But the jackals were unable to formulate any intelligent questions after his presentation.

This is what I was saying the other night about our president taking care of his business for his family in a beautiful and quiet way and getting on with his work as our POTUS. POB does not allow the foolish people to get into his personal family affairs the way they would like to, so it explodes these fools with dumb questions and reactions where they can almost not breathe. They forget that FLOTUS and POTUS have so many different friends who do very classy and wonderful things for and with them in the proper manner.

I love it. Not time to get their gossip groups together to start a party. Believe me, the ladies are enjoy themselves. Dr. Sharon Malone Holder, Gayle King, Oprah, Ms. Jarret, and many others. Love it. Live it up ladies and relax and enjoy your time celebration the pre-FLOTUS’ 50th.HZ

        January 6, 2014 at 8:37 pm

I’m so glad FLOTUS is having this extended vacation time. She is the hardest working First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt…..I firmly believe that. She has done more good and helped more people than we can know.
One way I know the quality of the Obamas is that they make friends and keep friends. They treasure their friends and their friends treasure them. Both of them have friends from years ago who love them, and they also have new friends like the Bidens who love them. This speaks of high quality people.

Thinking of other First Ladies…..Eleanor….HARD WORKER; Bess Truman……hated D.C., hated the White House, did very little; Mamie Eisenhower, did very little if anything; Jackie, did some very good and important things, but also skipped out of appointments and took several LONG vacations in three years; Lady Bird worked hard and regularly; Pat Nixon…..was so self effacing we hardly knew her, though she did take some important trips with him; Betty Ford…..she brought the discussion of breast cancer out of the dark, secret place it had been kept;;;Bravo Betty; Rosalynn, worked hard but did not have good PR; Nancy……well, we know about her astrologer and her Just Say No campaign and her goo-goo eyes at Ronnie; Barbara……who really cared?…..Hillary…..as someone on this blog said earlier, she fought the role the entire time, and the last 1 1/2 to 2 years she was campaigning for Senator; Laura…..was nice and demure, and seemed to find her voice the last term. I read that when she and Michele spoke, she told Michele that she had not realized how influential a First Lady could be, and not to waste the first year being silent, but to advocate for something important to her. I’m so glad Michele did not waste time.

          January 6, 2014 at 9:41 pm

Great summary, Carolyn. Of all the First Ladies, I think that Michelle Obama is the most centered and comfortable in herself. Eleanor was painfully shy and struggled with that all her life; Bess, as you say, never really cottoned to WH and DC. Mamie Eisenhower was used to be the grand dame as the Supreme Allied Commander’s wife; Jackie struggled with shyness issues and heaven only knows how much knowledge of her husband’s infidelities. Both Pat Nixon and Betty Ford had addiction issues. I honestly never new what Rosalynn did–she seemed so quiet. And, I’m sorry, but Nancy just seemed like someone I would never want to meet. Michelle Obama projects so much health, vitality, energy, intelligence and warmth, it’s as if she’s just bigger than life and fills her FLOTUS role completely.

I’ve seen comments about the First Lady staying over in Hawaii for a few extra days, of course they have been from right wing haters. But what I usually tell them is what a wonderful birthday gift from the President to his wife. Hope she enjoy herself and thank her husband when she gets home.

The song Rock Steady should be revised and renamed; Rock Bottom.

CBS is now pathetic. Leslie Stahl? Seriously, what is wrong with these people. This woman said last year on MSNBC that in the 1980s she personally witnessed Reagan having issues with disorientation and confusion in 1983 or 1985, but she and many others kept quiet. Now can anyone say that she would have done the same for a Dem POTUS? DC Pundits also protect GHW Bush’s affairs. Hillary Clinton spoke of it once and the media claimed that since no woman came out, it was a dead issue.

How Edward Snowden Turned Unwitting Journalists Into Activists

By helping him dribble out his NSA revelations, they are advancing his agenda in exactly the way he intended.

    By Michael Hirsh

But the latest installment from the “Snowden files” (as the Post’s subhead put it Friday) made me wonder if what we’re experiencing and reading right now is still journalism, investigative or otherwise, or whether it is becoming something very different. I wonder if, after all the disclosures that have already touched off a major reassessment of National Security Agency surveillance by the U.S. government, what we’re reading now is more like free advertising for a certain point of view — Edward Snowden’s point of view, that is, as well as that of his comrade-in-outrage, Glenn Greenwald.

Somewhere today it was mentioned that a Judge said gun sales cannot be banned in Chicago – and then we have this

(the link has an auto start video – truly one of the worst intertubes features)

“A 13-year-old boy who allegedly killed his sleeping 16-year-old cousin after an argument over a video game system was ordered held in custody today by a juvenile court judge, authorities said.”

Without snark – I blame the GOP – they are teaching children that guns are the way arguments are resolved.

I think we have forgotten press conferences before President Obama – people often “joked around” – both the politician and the media – but the media has attacked PBO since he was elected – jokes not allowed. To date de Blasio does not have that problem.

Great news that Janet Yellin was confirmed.

Seems the tidings are shifting on GOP obstruction.

I’m ignoring the squeaky wheels on the right who will continue to impotently flail against this administration since the MSM are desperately seeking any way to claw into the stately Obama Adm.

ICYMI, just before Christmas, Jeh Johnson was officially sworn in as Director of Homeland Security. Pretty much crickets from the MSM; a stunning contrast in media coverage between Mr. Johnson and those who came before him.

    Dec. 23:

A reminder of what little leverage the GOP has against this administration this year, from government shutdowns to PBO nominees…
(posted yesterday, but a reminder to emos who love nothing more than handwringing – this twitter summary really doesn’t do the article justice, recommend the actual article as rebuttal against your friends and relatives who believe the MSM doom and gloom).

I always enjoy reading Kay’s posts at BJ – for anyone who has a past of being made to “stand outside the door” or “go to detention at lunch time” – as I did in my youth – this attack on children at school is frightening

“The repercussions of the constitutional violations perpetrated by Defendants are
severe and far-reaching. Children are regularly and repeatedly handcuffed and arrested in school and incarcerated for days at a time without a probable cause hearing, regardless of the severity-or lack thereof-of the alleged offense or probation violation. ”

3 women, who die young, are greeted by St. Peter. He tells them. “All of you led very good lives down on earth, so all of you will be admitted into paradise. The only rule: “DON’T STEP ON THE DUCKS.”

Confused, they all ask “Um … what?”

St. Peter says “If you step on one duck, it quacks. If a duck quacks, other ducks will start quacking, and … well … you’ll see.”

With that, the gates opened and the three waltzed inside. And, sure enough, All of heaven is covered with ducks. there is almost no room to walk with the millions of ducks.

A day of careful stepping later, the first woman steps on a duck. Seconds later, every single duck in heaven is quacking. It’s so loud the women aren’t surprised if earth could hear it. Hours later, when the quacking ceased, an angel appears with a very ugly man and chains him to the lady and tells her this is her eternal punishment for the duck-stepping.

Not wanting the same fate, the other two women become very cautious for the next week, but sure enough, the second lady steps on a duck.

She gets the same punishment as the first lady.

The third lady becomes so careful that, a year-and-a-half later, she is still duck-free. Then, an angel appears next to her with a very handsome man and chains him to her.

Thinking that this must be a reward for her good-doing she asks the man gleefully “What did I do to deserve this?”

And the man replies with a grimace, “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck.”

    it is really cold! just coming in after a bus ride and it was brutal out there;

    something that was a source of amusement to me is that as almost each other person climbed onto the bus from the cold cold weather, they cursed at no one on particular;

most new riders let out a loud cuss paragraphs but the people already seated on the bus and the bus driver just ignore this “strange behavior”.

tomorrow the temps are predicted to be even lower so I will be ready to laugh “quietly” at the torrent of cussing

Amy Chua, the self-proclaimed “Tiger Mom” who, in 2011, published a book arguing that Chinese women are superior mothers — thus their offspring superior children — has even more to say.

In “The Triple Package,” Chua and her husband, co-author Jed Rubenfeld, gather some specious stats and anecdotal evidence to argue that some groups are just superior to others and everyone else is contributing to the downfall of America.

Unsurprisingly, the Chinese Chua and the Jewish Rubenfeld belong to two of the eight groups they deem exceptional. In no seeming order of importance, they are:
