I have a patron, Serg, who, I swear, has the most encyclopedic knowledge of popular music which I’ve ever encountered. He’ll ask me for a band and I’ll say “Lord, I haven’t thought of them in years.”
But in doing these night owl chats, I’ve learned that, unbeknownst to me, I have a pretty good musical library running around in my head.
What Tweet of God said sarcastically I say with conviction: Music is the universal language.
Btw, and IMO, Harwood knows better, and could just STFU about now. Just to save face. Ask yourself, John Harwood, isn’t your Soul worth far, far more than whatever big bucks you are being paid?? Camel and Needle, sir, Camel and Needle.
Hey, JO’B! Done in for another day. Just so you know, whenever I try to type the word ‘job’, iPad always brings up JO’B, not just once, but easily 3 times before it gets straight! So, you have conquered even Apple technologies! Way. To. Go, JO’B!! Goodnight y’all, big hugs all around, and I’m sure Chispticks and DannyBoy are sleeping it off. I hope they do not have bad dreams!
Goodnight to you, MP, and I’m thinking both Chips and Danny are snorin’ up a storm after their big scare earlier. I hope it’s just good dreams tonight for them.
S’pose he’s educated enough to get the reference? Can he think metaphorically?
I’m sure Cardinal Dolan can’t and Langone the owner of Home Depot can’t!!!
Langone with his stupid, selfish, whining remarks just underscores the camel/ needle metaphor…..
They’re trying basically to blackmail the pope, as they’ve blackmailed the hierarchy for years.
Yep, just laughed out loud when I saw your tweet! That very thing had been going through my mind ever since I read that article about those two………..So well put!
Know what? Good luck to them ~ they have fallen very rapidly behind the times, and are too stupid to know it! This is the 21st Century ~ time is speeding up. 15 words can be heard around the globe in 15 seconds, recorded, and irreversible. The Information Superhighway is still gaining momentum. The tides have turned. More people want Good in this world than want Evil. Good seeks Light, Evil seeks Darkness. Choose Good, Choose Light, Choose Hope and Kindness.
It a new year and the same old Bull from those piece of crap media folks. I remember the time when I expected better from john Harwood, now he is just like the Todd, Tapper, Karl, Henry, Knoller, Pace, Bash, worthless piece of crap, who call themselves journalists..
I had a problem with the hardware on my new MacBook Pro (lines across the screen). Took it into the Apple store and the swapped out. Tojo 15 minutes. Great service. First time in 33 years I’ve ever had a problem with an Apple product.
Yes, it is! But most of my suspicions aren’t. (No idea what I meant by that last part, but that’s the kind of mood I’m in! Ha! Just amusing myself tonight.)
I am glad to hear that dotster3. I was wondering about that. To some it might seem like a not that big of a deal gift, but I am sure it meant the world to Sasha and Malia’s Godmother, Mama Kaye.
The family who got the gift in error sound just lovely! They were going to drive over and deliver the gift, but had to hand it over to the Special Agent of the post office instead, who hand-delivered it.
This just struck me so funny. (I’m so tired, I’m punch drunk.) This could be his best friend for all I know, but now Cory Booker is offering rides on the streets of Newark.
I'm Driving on Broad St In Nwk. You OK? If not, let me know I'm close MT @cllebeau: I ended up at Newark airport WHO IS GONNA COME SAVE ME?!
As my son once called out in his ventriloquist voice when he was about 9 years old and we were in a courtyard at a mall in Florida where they were putting on a mini circus and some performer was upside down bracing himself with one finger or something:
Richard Pryor singing. Seriously. He is singing a jazz number, and he’s damn good! Apparently, at one point early in his career, he opened for Nina Simone. He was so nervous that she just hugged him to calm him down.
I’ve done that a few times, because I usually only get a chance to catch up late in the evening, west coast time… When I see good comments, I sitll respond, even if nobody sees it. Makes it more fun!
Ever since I found out how to check answers to my posts – I love it when someone posts late – as I said to Bobfr – there is an 18 hour time difference between me and the West Coast – we are around at different times 🙂
… and, one of the most important tasks WE have in 2014 and beyond is to drive that message incessantly to these folk.
If the Saudi’s, Bahrain’s, Iranian mullah’s, etc., gave a damn about the Palestinians, for real; if Republicans gave a damn about the poor white “Christian” folk who comprise their ONLY base (besides the 1%ers), well, we’d be living in a very different world.
I caught a glimpse of PR “News hour” this evening (would be a day or two late from in your world). I think I heard someone saying that cutting military pensions by 1% would actually be giving most vets a raise!! They can twist anything as long as they take from the 99%. The interviewer was nodding and agreeing – and I “clicked” so not exactly sure what I heard!!
I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can’t make heads nor tails of that reasoning or why anyone would half a brain would believe it. Frankly, I was more than a little miffed that the Democrats went along with this mess.
A religious wingnut climate change denier whose language level is slightly below that of GWB. Currently paying “consultants to work out how to screw the poor to “balance the budget” – charge them extra to visit the doctor – they go too often because it is free.

Is this all the action you guys generate in the early hours? /smh/ No wonder I resisted turning on the light for hours trying to force myself to fall back to sleep.
It’s going. Anything beats Kansas!! 🙂 I’m in Berlin right now. Arrived New Year’s Eve. Was the only Black person on my flight…the movie…”A Time to Kill”. I put in my earplugs, put on my blinders and went to sleep. 🙂
A very Good Afternoon to you mr. computer fixer! Seeing the collage in a tweet above reminded me – what’s the link that combines pics easily? I know you know (was going to say ‘cough it up’ or ‘spit it out’, then realized that’s not exactly the image I want to start my day with. Will settle for); SHARE, PLEASE.
Lucky you, seems you are one of those who can sleep when you need to. Do you know up front how long you’ll be there and do you speak German? I like the IDEA of travel but am not too fund of not knowing what people are talking about – part of my nosiness I think.
I’m here visiting some English-speaking friends. My daughter is in Stuttgart giving some kind of training. Don’t know how long it will last, as they never hold to the schedule, which is how I ended up being a military mom in the first place. They kept sending her on missions for periods of time leaving my grands. while they’re Dad was in Afghanistan. So I’d come in from Chicago for what was to be 6 weeks that turned into months, again and again. My daughter and hubby finally split and my house was left sitting for months at a time, so I finally sold it and just moved right on in. 🙂 So I’m following her. I’ll join her in a few days.
By the way…my German sounds like goulash. I plan to take some immersion classes once I get there…since they’re free…so I can at least ask for help. 🙂
Thank *you* for your service! The grands must be so happy to have you, despite the frequent movement and daughter will be more relaxed knowing the kids are with her mom. Are the kinds multilingual? I know youth is the ‘best’ time to learn new languages. The most attractive part of your description for me is the idea of immersion lessons. I like the idea of learning a new language though I’m not much for the discomforts of travel. 😉
I am not alone…Thank God for Grandmothers! 🙂 I couldn’t bear the idea of them staying with all sorts of strange people…too many crazies. The seven year old speaks Spanish and French. The three year old dabbles in both with his brother…I think he cusses a lot, but what do I know. 🙂 He knows peanut butter and jelly on toast in a bunch of languages. 🙂
Here’s a bit of good news (good to me, anyway) about my other daughter…the wedding is off. Hallelujah!!!
Tri-lingual….suh-weet! Definite pluses which I hope you and mom nurture. 😀 Also like the fact that 3yr old knows the way to his stomach in different languages – smart kid. 😉
I laughed out loud at the last statement because I remember you were uneasy with the prospective son-in-law and trying to bite your tongue. Sure is better for her/them to rethink before than after, and I bet you feel good that you weren’t the catalyst! 😆
While it’s still dark here, and with the help of my black out curtain, I’m going to try again if I can fall asleep. I know it didn’t work before, but if I don’t try it’s going to be a long, long tiring day. I’m going to give this sleep thing an hour or so to catch on /crossing fingers/
Wishing you a good afternoon, Faypax.
Wishing *you* a good night, Amk.
13 minutes of silence! Not a creature is stirring, not even the village mouse! Okay, so I’ll sit by the door and wait for Chips and DannyO since I don’t really feel like reading.
The smart homeowner who KNOWS she can’t get rid of salespeople without being rude or feeling guilty (after all, they’re only trying to make a living). 🙄
Thanks LL!!
Two mo’, way to go, bobfr!
Thanks Pamela 🙂
LL, you’ve got some of my favorites in that stack, btw!!
Let me tell you a story.
“Music is the universal language”
Could not agree with you more, LL.
And, you truly have “a pretty good musical library running around in my head.”
Thank you for sharing it with all of us.
Btw, and IMO, Harwood knows better, and could just STFU about now. Just to save face. Ask yourself, John Harwood, isn’t your Soul worth far, far more than whatever big bucks you are being paid?? Camel and Needle, sir, Camel and Needle.
So true!
And good evenin’, MP!
So funny about your iPad’s brain!
Goodnight to you, MP, and I’m thinking both Chips and Danny are snorin’ up a storm after their big scare earlier. I hope it’s just good dreams tonight for them.
Signed,
JO’B

As I tweeted:

I’m sure he’s skimmed over Mat 19:24
He claims he is a devout daily catholic (as opposed to weekly/monthly/yearly ones?). You think he woulda gotten this reference ?
He’s an empty temple, braying about God, without listening to God’s message.
Know what? Good luck to them ~ they have fallen very rapidly behind the times, and are too stupid to know it! “Camel and Needle, sir, Camel and Needle.”
He has no capacity to even understand your sage advice, Pamela. Sadly.
It a new year and the same old Bull from those piece of crap media folks. I remember the time when I expected better from john Harwood, now he is just like the Todd, Tapper, Karl, Henry, Knoller, Pace, Bash, worthless piece of crap, who call themselves journalists..
bbl …. time to prepare some dinner 🙂
Rest well or welcome to a new day – depending on time zone – TOD villagers!

colorado cannabis
Two ironic things stood out for me.
The cannabis crowd is uniformly white, both the sellers and the users, unlike unohoo?
It is heavily taxed for ‘schools construction’ thereby again letting the 1%ers off the hook.
Imagine that!
yeah, imagine that.
^^^^ LOVE THIS. You’re off to a running start in the new year, UT!
High praise indeed from TOD’s very own A+ poet and master wordsmith. 😀
You talkin’ to me? Ha! (I wish.) Thanks, darlin’. I see your sweetness carried over past midnight 1/1/14, as well. 🙂
That’s a great name. The former Donut hole is now the Wingnut hole.
Damn. Send me a bottle of that inspiration you brought with ya into the New Year, amk! That’s pitch perfect.
LOL. Trying to do a #@%** m$ partition daughter unit’s new laptop since new year can be quite ‘inspiring’.
Oh, I forgot about that #@%** m$ daughter’s new laptop stuff or I wouldn’t have interrupted you! Carry on. 🙂
Turned out the hdd was a dud to begin with. Now to fight to get a replacement. lenovo, my foot.
I have no idea what you meant by what you just wrote, but I’m happy for you. Or not. Depending on what you just wrote.
😛
I had a problem with the hardware on my new MacBook Pro (lines across the screen). Took it into the Apple store and the swapped out. Tojo 15 minutes. Great service. First time in 33 years I’ve ever had a problem with an Apple product.
We’d have to make a trip to Boulder, CO to swap out my new one! Wouldn’t that be a hoot!
Goodness, Apple is that old? Man, time flies! 😀
aaand… we have a winner : )
excellent!
Brilliant, amk – this needs to be a 2014 slogan (and 2016, 2018, etc.)
Hey jo’b – enjoyed the link to Emory study. Thanks – it’s always satisfying to see one’s suspicions confirmed by science : )
Yes, it is! But most of my suspicions aren’t. (No idea what I meant by that last part, but that’s the kind of mood I’m in! Ha! Just amusing myself tonight.)
ha! totally get it!
🙂
Okay vatos y vatas, this homeboy is off to bed. See everyone on the flip.
Thanks for adding music into our lives, homeboy, as always. 🙂
The errant Obama fam gift to Malia and Sasha’s godmother, Mama Kaye, has reached its rightful owner.

oh, gawd this is hysterical! I’m picturing it all in comic book form!
He’s like the Superman of Newark! He should be back to the Senate after their winter break, soon, and then only be able to give rides on weekends.
As my son once called out in his ventriloquist voice when he was about 9 years old and we were in a courtyard at a mall in Florida where they were putting on a mini circus and some performer was upside down bracing himself with one finger or something:
“Eh, anybody can do that.”
No, seriously, that is phenomenal.
I’m not interested in David Brooks enough to read what he wrote or said about marijuana, but the parody Twitter accounts are fun.
How is THIS for rare??
Richard Pryor singing. Seriously. He is singing a jazz number, and he’s damn good! Apparently, at one point early in his career, he opened for Nina Simone. He was so nervous that she just hugged him to calm him down.
At least I wasn’t talking to myself on the last thread – some folks are answering me 🙂 🙂 That is a change.
Ha! I’ve done that once or twice today, myself.
I’ve done that a few times, because I usually only get a chance to catch up late in the evening, west coast time… When I see good comments, I sitll respond, even if nobody sees it. Makes it more fun!

Here ya go, if anybody’s looking for a theme for 2014:
That #YearOfTheAmericanMiddleClass should scare the pants off Republicans!
What’s with Rand Paul’s “White Power” salute? Boy, I’d like to wipe all the features off his hateful face.
Reality, hard, cold, harsh, and totally ironic, irony ….
That should read “and totally ironic, reality ….”
… time for some rest …

Maybe it’s their way of trying different solutions? If he denies it, it might fix things? 😕
The climate deniers won’t change their tune until their money starts to burn. By then, it will be too late.

I kid you not – a speaker for the world stage he is not.
This is the man whose 3 adult daughters dressed in virginal white on election night – with Mother in widows weeds – go figure.
Any wonder I prefer to check on what PBO & Co are saying/doing.
So, where are the genuine early birds and the late afternoon-ers and night-timers from other time zones?
Is this all the action you guys generate in the early hours? /smh/ No wonder I resisted turning on the light for hours trying to force myself to fall back to sleep.
I’m here. I was here for so long by my lonesome, I went off to find a cup of coffee. 🙂
Hello there, FP! I know you are faarrr away – how’s it going?
It’s going. Anything beats Kansas!! 🙂 I’m in Berlin right now. Arrived New Year’s Eve. Was the only Black person on my flight…the movie…”A Time to Kill”. I put in my earplugs, put on my blinders and went to sleep. 🙂
I guess it could have been worse. My grandson asked everyone he saw…”Are there snakes on this plane?”
Is grandson a toddler? I love how the very young can often engage any and everyone.
Aren’t you a bit late for the oktoberfest ? 😛
Yes…I missed the market, too, but it reminds me of the Chicago Taste anyway. 🙂 I did make it in time for the fireworks.
A very Good Afternoon to you mr. computer fixer! Seeing the collage in a tweet above reminded me – what’s the link that combines pics easily? It will only arrange pics in a row vertically or horizontally. For a collage, need another program
Thanks! Will help me start ‘small’ I guess. Will copy it onto my memory list right away,

Thanks for a swell conversation. Sleep well.
Thanks too for being here and helping me through the quiet when I strolled in. Much appreciated.
Doesn’t seem like my plan is working yet so I signed back in, this time while nibbling on a croissant and sipping some camomile tea.
13 minutes of silence! Not a creature is stirring, not even the village mouse! Okay, so I’ll sit by the door and wait for Chips and DannyO since I don’t really feel like reading.

Ha, an awake body!
So? You just apologize and redial your mother.
You sure don’t know when the opportunity knocks at your door, do you?
I rarely answer my door unless I’m expecting someone. Opportunity better phone first.
you the prisoner of zenda?

so the prisoner of zenda then.
Okay, okay, okay. Did you do one of those sales training course? 🙄
