Anyone else around?
Chatting away on the last thread – that is my byline ๐
I definitely know that drill, 99ts, as it used to be a favourite pastime of mine. Have to admit I don’t mind passing it on to you, Bobfr, Dudette, or anyone who enjoys the game. ๐
Congrats VC!
TY & Happy New Year, Judith!
Congrats on first, VC!!
TY, Betsy. I would like to thank ……
Congrats VC. Missed you today. . .
/sheepish grin/ I wandered far from the village, I confess.
Oh, where were you? ๐ ๐ ๐ Did you miss the morning drama?
I did but noticed references to it as I was trying to catch up. I’m very glad my nephew is fine and his mom is fine now too and much calmer. You never know when and where you’ll run into a nutcase!
I know, we worry so don’t we. ๐
Undoubtedly!
๐ ๐
Congrats, VC!
Timing is EVERYTHING.
Hi, LDS! How’s the new year progressing so far? ๐
Just absolutely beautiful!
Settling down with a bowl of homemade three-bean chili, hot green tea, sliced green tomatoes and corn muffins. Just chillin, waiting for the snowstorm to arrive in NYC. Praying for those who must travel home and those who are homeless, I will take nothing and no one for granted this year. We all need each other.
How about you?
What cha doing?
Recovering from several frigid hours away from home! It was unbelievably cold outdoors today and had I known I wouldn’t have gone out, but once I was there, I decided to get a couple of things done. I dropped off one of those gift baskets thingy to my mechanic, and figured since I was ‘outside’ I’d go visit this going out of business sale. Of course I spent more than I should buying all these household bargains that I don’t really need – like a bunch of new guest towels, additional blankets and drapes. Ask me where I plan to put them, considering I already have lots of guest stuff and very few visitors. Not to mention I already had 3 different sets of bedroom drapes in unopened packs at home. But they were so well-priced! ๐ Then I stopped by a friend who calls me periodically to ask if I’ve forgotten her existence (all because of my TODvillage hangout habits) and who lives on the path homewards from the sale….and for whom I had bought a Christmas gift while in the store.
….
So now I’m warming my edges and relaxing. ๐
Whew. But this now has me wondering, VC dearest one, if perhaps this is to become the ‘Year of the Out-of-Town-Guest’ for you.. Sometimes these ‘errands’ seem random, but are actually the True Path we should be taking. For whatever reason! Well, maybe??
Does your comment mean that you are thinking about coming this way? Cool, let me know so that I’ll use at least one set of the new drapes. The sheet set might not work unless you come soon, because I bought flannel sheets it being so cold and all.
MP is always thinking about traveling VC, it’s in her blood! Whether life circumstances will permit, well, now, that’s another thought process altogether!
A wanderer at heart, are you? Well time will tell what 2014 will permit for you in that area. Hang tough.
One day I shall show you all my canceled passports, with all the beautiful stamps. Back when passports were still stamped!! They are part of my collectible pride! Btw, suddenly, with all this downsizing silliness, I find myself thinking it’s is no longer a leap to consider moving me and kitty into an RV, (we could pretty much fit everything that’s left) and follow the sun, or the snow, depending on our mood!! Hmmm… UhOh.
Now here is where we part ways – the coward in me wouldn’t travel in an RV if you paid her! I need 4 stable, solid, STATIONARY walls around me when I go to bed.
It’s okay, VC, I shall do all the driving, and we will check you into a Hyatt Regency, if nearby, every night!!
Oh, and PS: just don’t you worry too much about the ‘fact’ that my right knee doesn’t bend too good, my RV will have Cruise Control!! ๐ ๐
I love these tweets
Yay! ๐
I love them too – I like the way this god sees the world – thanks UT
How is your 2014 going so far? I have sewed on all the buttons on the clothes hanging in my laundry room for 2013, finished the ironing, and cleaned the guest room for the Oberlin winter term student we are hosting for a month.
Good for you, Judith, but so guilt-inducing for me! ๐ Apart from going shopping (something I usually avoid at the best of times) there is precious little I have done. Fact is, on the two occasions I have HAD to go out I needed recovery time upon my return so couldn’t even sign on until hours later.
No guilt allowed, VC!
This. Is. All. There. Is. To. It.
Not to worry, Judith, my guilt under these circumstances never last long. ๐
Happy New Year, TOD!! Congrats on first, VC……… currently bracing myself for a the huge winter storm pounding us right now. Stay safe Everybody!
Take a moment to read this testimonial from former Vikings punter, Cris Kluwe. He has been an outspoken advocate for SSM and many other progressive issues for many years. He also happens to be an excellent writer (Check out some of his other posts on Gawker & Deadspin) but he just blew the lid open on homophobia in the NFL, despite the leagues public stance of acceptance.
“………..Allow myself to tell you a story about … myself. The following is a record of what happened to me during my 2012 season with the Minnesota Vikings, written down immediately after the 2013 draft in April, when I realized what was happening, and revised recently only for clarity. I tried to keep things as objective as possible, and anything you see in quotes are words that I directly recall being said to me.
This is a story about how actions have consequences, no matter how just or moral you think your cause happens to be, and it’s a story about the price people all too often pay for speaking out……….”
LP – Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, JB! Wish you and your family good health and fortune.
Right back atcha!
Read it LP. Saw your tweet. He is a good writer and I see he has book out too. Hope he does well. I was horrified to see that the Broncos had Mike Prieffer as a special teams coach for a year.
Hello, Carol! I think Denver is in the driver seat for the playoffs. I’m terrified of Saturdays Colts vs. Chiefs game……. we beat them 2 weeks ago at Arrowhead, but I think it was a fluke. I have a sick feeling Jamal Charles, is going to go buck wild on our D!
We’ll see! Hope you’re right. Nice to have you back. How is your hand?
Still on the mend, but getting better………. I have more pressing matters to contemplate. I scored good tickets to Saturdays 4:30 Colts games (for some reason it is still not sold out, along with Bengals and Packers games) but I’m scared of what this storm is going to the airport schedule. I’m supposed to leave Sunday morning for Vegas, and bus to the Auburn BCS National Championship game Monday, but I’m thinking of leaving Saturday ASAP just to make sure. Sophie’s Choice…….what to do?
It’s supposed to be very cold here. Be prepared for anything.
I am leaning on rolling the dice and catching a Red Eye to Vegas, Saturday night after the game (we have a brand new 1.2 billion dollar airport)…… I can always leave early if we are getting pounded. I was lucky as hell to score tickets from the Auburn alumni lottery allotment (only 12,000 tickets were available), but right now I’m enjoying watching the poor little faces of Bama fans after getting beat tonight by the Sooners ๐
Great, Enjoy!
Well, hello to you, LPlains, and all the best for 2014!
VC, dear friend………. hope you had a wonderful X-mas w/ friends and family. Happy New Year & best wishes for the year to come!
TY. Sure hope you are on top of things in your personal corner of the world.
Hi LP. Stay safe. Boy, this is mind blowing. I wish he had recorded that bigot, Priefer. Thank you for sharing. It is indeed, a must read.
My pleasure, Africa. Hope you enjoyed the holidays, and best wishes for the coming year ahead!
I’m reading about snow everywhere – I think it’s helping me deal with our heat wave – going to be a very warm weekend
I wish we would cool off here in Florida. It has been miserably hot and it was December, now it’s January and it is still hot.
(Didn’t realize y’all were on a new thread!) So glad Cardinal Dolan was called out in this …
Welcome too my world JoB – chatting on the last thread! Amazing that the church should be more concerned with people than money – the amount the RC church has invested in real estate would keep them going for 1000 years with no help needed from the billionaires. Do they really think they can buy a path to heaven?
I was reading the morning links and one mentioned he replaced a high ranking Bishop that was a thorn in the side of Pres. Obama. It was on Kos and a satirical look at the terrible 2013 Pres. Obama had. Good read, but I don’t have the link.
Un.effing.believable. The Duck Dynasty Klan are debuting a new line of firearms, including shotguns with high-powered magazines. I see this is officially the season of doubling-down.
I’ve been tempted to put this pic up on twitter from a very religious friend but have resisted. Not going help it go viral. She compares the Robertson family to the disciples because of their beards. Yikes!
I ‘ll say more like OBL and his followers.
That’s what I thought. . .
When will the Duck Dynasty klan be debuting wedding rings for old men to marry 15 year old girls? Maybe Clarence Page or Barbara Walters can answer that for me. Since they are so fascinating.
I’m so glad I turned off those guys. They are way past their due date. Let the younger people with fresh ideas have a chance. But not the like of Ezra. It’s one thing if they need the money, but they don’t.
I love it when Pete answers the occasional question:
If only we cared!!
If it happens, good riddance to bad rubbish! Whatever future venture he undertakes, it’ll go down. Whatever he had to bring to the table has already been eaten, the crumbs of which have been put out in the trash. Go against President Obama at your own risk, news jerks!
Raise your hand if you are going to shed a tear about Ezra leaving. Still waiting to see a hand raise. ๐ฆ
JOB, you response is perfect, just perfect. The fact that Ezra failed to get backing for his new website tells you all you need to know about why he was pimping for the GOP with his anti-Obamacare crap.
Agree. There’s no explaining away his failure to get the financial backing! He’ll try, because he loves himself like the rest of ’em love themselves and they all think they’re godalmighty, but we know the truth!!!!
He has a contributor gig with MSNBC. The wifey unit, Ann Lowery has a job with the NYT. Who knows, Gigi could be enticing Ezra for the Billionaire was bankrolling Gigi’s next act with $250M.
Po, po Ezraโฆโฆ
What new toy did he want, a brain?
I just heard Chris Hayes say there were 9 million enrolled in ObamaCare! Is that true?
Yes, Carol. The number is now actually > 9M, i.e., > 6.4 M (exchange + Medicaid/SCHIP) + at least 3.1M under age 26 staying on their parents insurance.
http://obamacaresignups.net/spreadsheet
Yippee! I want to shout it from the rooftop, but I’ll use twitter!
I’m confused. I thought just a few days ago the media was lamenting on how Obamacare would not meet the target of 7 million enrollees, and they were preparing to declare it a failure. What happened?
The Truth is out! The MSN doesn’t recognize the truth! ๐
๐
Judith, you mentioned hosting an Oberlin student. Where do you live?
God has my sense of humor! I have been saying for a long time that there are a lot of people who don’t believe in evolution. That’s why they refuse to participate in it.
God believes in it, he created it. ๐
Congrats on 1st, ‘The Quiet One’ ๐

This is prolly in response to some such fake rw poutrage that is already out there.

I have Zero, repeat, Zero empathy for those in NJ who voted for the BULLY Chris Christie.
THose who voted for Christie………Dems……helped create the Monster Bully that Christie is today.
Heck, the voters brought back the same party that ruined their lives from 2000-2008 to power in 2010 & 2012 and nearly elected a congenital liar looter as the prez.

‘Thundered’? You describe my stately, light-footed entry as ‘thundered’? Sigh, people no longer use words the way they did in the good old days! Just, ‘sigh’.
To win 3 medals by one person is a Thunderous accomplishment. It is superbly an amazingly Stately accomplishment.
Hmmm. Okay. I like ‘thunderous’ better than ‘thundered’. ๐

…And they all came in search of their very own Obama…”could this be him?”….
I so loved this from LL’s 2013 round-up I wrote it down: “Like Hassan Rouhani, Pope Francis wouldn’t have come along, or at least have had the same impact, until the Age of Obama.” Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see if it takes the media and historians less than 20 years to realize this.
That has been the best laugh of the day. Thanks for posting.
He’s brilliant!
The American public loves Pete Souza and are very pleased with his work. They love asking him questions about his career trajectory and photography in general. Only the GOP & their media are threatened by pete.
as well they should be. pete souza is documenting the obama presidency for posterity, as well as for our enjoyment now. and there’s really no arguing against these photos! they show the good, smart, hard-working, even-tempered, family man we love, and the repukes try to vilify.
How awful would it be without Pete Souza? It’s scary to think if there was no presidential photographer releasing photos on a daily basis. We would be left with the likes of Mark Knoller and his kind of crowd with their unprofessional, dreary and cynical viewpoint.
Btw, Knoller couldn’t even be shamed into updating his bio on his cbs website http://www.cbsnews.com/news/mark-knoller-01-02-2012/ Even after his useless reply to me on Twitter (“It was accurate when it was written”) it STILL states he is covering the George Bush presidency. Useless punk.
Pete indicated on Twitter that he is going back to university teaching in 2017. We will miss him!
but what lucky students he’ll have!
And that photo is scary – not to mention the copyright is @2012 Knoller says George is still the man in the white house – that’s about the level of his reporting – says it all.
How exactly is Mark Knoller a WH Correspondent if he can’t even keep the current President up to date on his stupid twitter page – especially since the current President is a year into his second term!? How can anything have credibility from him after that?
Ezra’s wife….
I like William Dailey’s tweets – rather amazing set of credentials, as well.
I just took a look and yes, hard to believe for a priest lol! I’m going to follow him until he starts preaching or suggesting I go to confession…
I love this image. ๐
Amk’s role model! ๐
Or is it amk?
I wanted to say it was amk..but held back. Thanks for saying what I was thinking but to afraid to say! LOL ๐ ๐
๐
Pete looks/acts deadly serious about his job, but has a fun sense of humor on Twitter:
Long time ago when lots of folks did not own cameras – friend of mine bought one for a trip away. He kept it in his pocket and at least 50% of the pictures taken were the inside of said pocket.
Oh, gosh, that’s hysterical! #Haven’tWeAllBeenThere
He was a dear friend – we went away on a business trip to a state neither of us had ever visited. He photographed his pocket – I took my photos to a local pharmacy to get developed (as one did in those days) and they ruined both films. I scored an apology and 2 unused rolls of film!
We did enjoy the trip – shame about the photography ๐
Memories are in the mind’s eye, anyway.
too true – would it score a mention but for lack of photographs – and Pete Souza’s comment.
Although I have a friend who never wanted to worry about photographs so she could enjoy the moment … then realized, when she had a child, that she could never share a photograph of “the moment” with her! So, both matter!
And those 10,000 will have alternatives.
The potential Medicaid recipients with GOP Governors who denied them Medicaid are Stuck. That should be the big conversation, right?
I thought I read somewhere (maybe BJ) that there is no penalty for overstating your income – re ACA subsidies – so if your income in those states makes you eligible for medicaid – you should state it as just above that level & be entitled to the max rebate. I have no idea if this would work – or is valid – but it sounds like a plan – it may perhaps fail when tax returns show the real income level?
But yes – the media should be ranting about this – as should every democrat in congress – however the republicans prefer that it be a failing of Obamacare – not a failing of GOP governors.
what’s bill doing there?
He presided at the inauguration. Made it all about him as usual….
Apparently de Blasio & wife are long time friends of the Clintons.
Not a great start for a man claiming to be there for 99%.
Bill’s speech was directed at what a great man was Mayor Bloomberg – every other speaker tore him to shreds.
It figures. bill has always stood by and stood for rich, his rhetoric notwithstanding.
Bad call by a brand new mayor.
Sorry but I can’t stand Bill Clinton. That man and his ego irks me
In addition to their possibly being “friends,” I’m hoping since Clinton might have campaigned for deBlasio, that the new Mayor felt obligated (not good) to invite him to preside. But from this point on, he’d better make his own decisions for the good of NYC – not himself or Clinton – or it won’t look at all good or be good.
I can just picture Clinton’s hanging around City Hall for the next couple of weeks, waiting to be noticed, and then finally when he realizes nobody’s noticing, he’ll go back to his “world” and give the rest of us a break!
Mayor de Blasio worked in President Clinton’s administration and he also was heavily involved in Senator Clinton’s election campaign. They are decades long friends.
I have very little regard for either President Clinton and SoS Clinton.
That said, the vast majority of the individuals Mayor de Blasio selected to participate yesterday, as well as those chosen by the Public Advocate and Comptroller, literally ripped Bloomberg & the plutocrats to shreds – to their faces. I have little doubt that Mayor de Blasio is going to be a Mayor for the 99%. May be proven wrong, but just his approach to the homeless, elderly and other vulnerable NYers in his statements today regarding preparations for the storm were in stark contrast to Bloomberg and Christie’s behavior in similar situations.
So, amk, my attitude is – let’s observe ๐
NOTE: that was Ms Clinton’s campaign for the US Senate, not her Presidential primary campaign.
Bob, my point is if you campaigned and won on the basis of being there for un-empowered, then you don’t ask the man who represents the exact opposite to swear you in, notwithstanding your friendship with him and his family.
Just contrast this PBO’s inaugurations where he brought people like Blanco into the limelight.
Hopefully he will do better from now on.
consider this though…president obama does similar things with people such as rick warren, rahm, the clintons, donnie mcclurkin and so on, so beblasio could simply be following a similar path. keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, especially if they helped you advance your career along the way.
president obama has earned our trust by his actions over the years for us to be okay with these kind of events now, so hopefully deblasio with do the same with is actions. time will tell all, of course.
Bubba officiated the official swearing in Yesterday.
Bill Clinton also gave a speech. That part I didn’t understand.
I wonder if Hillary might ask DiBlasio to be VP since he is younger, male and more Progressive if he is successful as mayor?
oh gag … until now, I didn’t know he’d be in the big photo. I knew he spoke, but this is too much.
They’re trying to make sure the state of New York votes Dem in 2016. ๐ ๐ ๐
Until you asked, i didn’t even notice Bill standing there – was too busy looking at the NY first family. Bill looks shorter these days… ๐
Two reasons – anyone looks shorter next to the Mayor ๐ – and Bill is aging. My Dad shrunk 4-5 inches between ages 70-85
Thanks, 99. He still looks short… ๐
He does – comes from being where you should not be ๐
Beautiful photo, except for the phony on the left.
phony indeed
Can we get a carpetbagger to Wyoming, not Liz Cheney? ๐
i wish they wouldn’t use that language as a metaphor. ‘shots fired’ is not just hyperbolic here; it’s offensive. maybe i’m skittish, but my first thought was that someone had actually shot at someone in a political arena. this has happened, and it is not to be bandied about for effect.
It is offensive – Gabby Giffords was impacted by such rhetoric – and of course the many who died around her.
So long as Ohioans get rid of him in Nov 2014, I will be satisfied.
Right on!
They don’t even try to hide the hate they have for the poor – health care – let them die.
This is almost as good as a story about cursive! Ha!
Oooh, job, I’m a typography nerd – loved this! thanks.
Me, too! And proud of it!
For Kathleen and LL
Well, that was interesting. I just got off the phone after about an hour’s conversation with a writer from Lubbock, Tx. who is writing a book about “the night the music died”, the final tour of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, Big Bopper. I was there that night in the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. The good ol’ internets—–he found my name from commenting on a story about the annual dance party at the Surf commemorating that day, Feb. 3, 1959 on the Chgo Sun Times—-some time ago. Anyhoo, he wanted to know what I remembered from that night. My memory is sketchy, it’s been a few years ๐ but I shared what I remembered. And he probably was most interested to know if I had or knew anyone who had photos from that night—-he’s only been able to locate 6. But this was back in the day when cameras were the size of a shoe box and weighed about 10 lbs. and everyone was not lugging them around everywhere. He also wanted to know if I saved my ticket stubs or got autographs—sadly no and no. He asked everything tho about what the weather was like—it was snowing and my mom didn’t want me to go—-it was a school night—–but I got my music and dance loving dad to say yes and we piled in a car and off we went—-the 10 miles to Clear Lake from our homes in Mason City. I have seen photos somewhere—-h.s. reunions?—-where I am in the 2nd row from the stage having a great time singin’ and clappin’ and dancin’. He asked every detail I could remember about every moment there, what the weather was like when we left, about finding out the sad news of the plane crash at school the next day and driving to the crash site on our lunch hour and were so shocked and sad. We also talked about the great rock station there and the DJ who used to broadcast atop the Barrel drive-in and was emceeing that event that night. I also knew the people who owned and operated the flight service who provided the charter plane and pilot that night. Anyhoo—-he’s written 2 books about that tour and this book about the final date in Clear Lake, “Dancin’ As If There’s No Tomorrow” is expected out in May. He said he would send me a copy for sharing memories. Interesting talk about how music changed after that tragedy, a pivotal moment in the music industry, he called it “a long rest”, about growing up in the ’50’s, Kennedy’s death and all the loss of “innocence” after that etc. etc. It was interesting.
Wow, dotster, that is so cool. I was a sophomore in HS in 1959 and remember reading about the crash in the newspaper. Whether you were aware of it or not, you were part of an historical moment. Glad this guy tracked you down.
omg. you were there?!?! that was such a historic night in the history of music and the world’s culture, given their influence on rock-n-roll. no doubt you had a great time at the show that night, which is all those three artists really wanted for those few hours that evening.
thanks for sharing and i’ll probably pick up that book!
So interesting dotster! Having grown up in rural Minnesota I can relate to the small town, cold snowy evening. A bit before my time but I have to listen to “American Pie” at least once a year – they will never be forgotten.
Thanks for sharing. That’s interesting, but the bus trip must have been sad.
not being reported yet in local news! the msm staffers following the president are getting these ‘scoops’.
That wins me – I luv to sit and chat with my ancestors – many of whom rest in coastal towns with magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. I find it a most calming experience and a wonderful way to remember those who made us as we are.
Malia and Sasha never got to meet their Great Grandfather. They never met Michelle’s father either did they? They weren’t born. When did POTUS Grandfather and FLOTUS father pass away?
Has anyone seen this: Very funny
OMG! This is spot on
LOL. ๐
Saw the tweets above about Ezra Klein, who has now joined the grifter crowd, whose hero is the odious Greenwald.
I knew there was a reason he assumed my second-most hated “journalist” spot (after Greenwald).
He is an opportunist who thinks he’s smarter than he really is.
He’s insufferable, thinking he knows more than he does. His wife is a sneering snob.
I hope they’re both out of “work” soon and actually have to toil to earn their paychecks. Now they’re both just sucking up the limelight of being the “golden” media couple.
It’s embarrassing to think that Ezra thought he had any kind of leverage for the shallow “punditry” he puts out, complete with misleading charts. Good riddance.
“When a 2nd-Term President and a Divided Congress Made Magic ” OK, then.
“Sick and tired of being sick and tired”. I can’t find a magical moment during the Reagan era, no matter how hard I look.
No wait! I’ll give the great tax-cutter credit for one thing…once he cut taxes and the economy started to tumble to hell, he had the good sense to realize that he’d effed up and course corrected, taking back half the cut everyone gives him credit for by raising taxes ten times.
I’ve stopped looking! ๐
Very appropriate LL.
Amen!
a ‘lame duck’ is an elected official whose term continues after a new official is elected but not yet sworn in. pbo will not be a lame duck until after the next presidential election.
president obama is now concluding the first year of a 4-year term. he is a sitting president, elected twice, and with three years more in office to do what he was elected to do.
how do these professional writers get away with such imprecise language? are there no editors? are there no dictionaries?
It seems there are different definitions. It is sometimes used now to refer to a president in his last term who is not running for reelection. I think it’s totally incorrect since it’s because of term limits not because of “weakness”. So Harwood is taking the liberty of using it under that definition. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/lame+duck
OMG, I think I’m gonna hurl.
I absolutely hate the fact that the MSM completely ignores the Iran-Contra debacle that unfolded during Reagan’s second term.
The flatlining of middle class wages and trickle down economics is attributable to Reagan.
RWNJs would not be as averse to facts such as “increase revenues, decrease deficit” if it weren’t for Saint Ronnie.
BTW, Africa, absolutely loved your post earlier today. You go, girl!
Reagan started the downfall of the western world – he took from the poor and gave to the rich and the democrats in congress watched him do it. Other countries followed him. When they tried to take something back under Clinton – they failed – because the GOP take take take and NEVER give back – that is how they bargain – and the stupid of the media applaud them.
Reagan borrowed so much money, he turned the United States from a creditor nation into a debtor nation. I find it interesting that those who claim so much concern about the debt never acknowledge that fact when their heaping praise on their mythological god.
Always against the blah guy FayPax – the media will only accept that GOP is good, PBO is bad.
Bonne nuit, folks! We’ve already ripped two days off the calendar – wow.
The year’s flyin’ by – we’re down to 363 days until 2015! Ha!

I never was a fan of Ezra Klein even when he was somewhat supportive of Obama during the 2008 campaign as he always came across as a know it all when in fact, he was light on facts and heavy on opinions. And now I hear he wants 10 million start up money for a website?
Here’s an example of the quality of his work. Last December 2012 after the Newtown 2nd graders murder by a gun toting nut, he wrote this crap, trying to present a “both sides” view. On #3 of his points, he later updates it by saying he was wrong that Israel and Switzerland have a gun ownership rate comparable to the US. His source? A decade old (yup from 2000!!!) article from the CATO Institute. Quoting gun statistics about other countries from 12 years ago?! And from the CATO Institute??? Yes, this is our “liberal” WAPO blogger.

Couldn’t agree with you more.
Ezra is insufferable.
I hope he and his snob wife get taken down a few pegs.
Her smug “sub-tweet” (posted above) is really uncalled for.
These two have no idea what it’s like to struggle, to not get everything their little hearts desire.
I despise them both.
Yeah, they really are insufferable. Her tweet was repulsive.
let them eat crudite.
Thank you for taking down that dork Harwood, who just calls it in. Cannot stomach him.
PBO is not a lame duck…..Harwood is the lame one!
thank you carolyn. pretty soon they’ll have everyone believing pbo is powerless and his term is finished–when he’s just begun! constant undermining as well as direct attacks–really ticking me off today!
So true!
Go Bob!!! SO TIRED OF RAYGUN!!!!! I lived through that and know what he did, and we are still reaping the whirlwind from his term!!!
Wow, that was a heart-wrenching but beautiful segment Joy Reid, subbing for LO’D, just aired——re. the father of Claire Davis, the innocent lovely girl who was the victim in the latest Co. school shooting, speaking at her memorial. He had a tough time but he persevered with his heart felt words—-about deciding not to be consumed by rage, anger and hate at the shooter, that he was so consumed by rage, anger and hate that he did not know what he was doing. Mr. Davis said instead they will focus on compassion and forgiveness, which he urged others to do also and told the gathered friends and family to reach out to those around you who might need the light of their love, to make love more important than hate. That is what he and his wife want and what Claire would have wanted. Whew.
Had me tearing up Dotster3
I saw the end of the father’s statement on Rev. Al. He just persevered through his tears. What a profound way to honor their daughter!
Saw it. Amazing and profound. What strength.
It was amazing what that father said. Just amazing. Mr Davis is someone who knows who Jesus is, much more then that filthy rich Home Depot guy.
It was so sad but uplifting.
Ok, UT and Chips are AWOL, so give me a mo and I’ll have a night owl chat up shortly.
Yeah, we’ll give you a mo. ๐
