Thanks for all the great tweets UT. Are you taking time out from Breaking Bad or is it over?

You’re welcome, CarolMaeWY. I pulled myself away long enough to check on TOD and update it and also to soak in the fact that my Chelsea boys won today, ending 2013 on an awesome note.

I’m now on season 4 of Breaking Bad and it is so freaking AMAZING!!!! I have one more season to go and then I can welcome back that beautiful thing called sleep. 😀

      • December 29, 2013 at 4:17 pm

When you’re committed, your really committed. 😉

      • December 29, 2013 at 4:20 pm

I knew it UT, we ARE twins! I’m on Season 4 too …. and I sooooo need sleep too!! 😆

        PS Chelsea? Meh.

OMG!!! YES!!! You and I are freaking awesome people (except for you being a fan of Man United of course) and the universe has decreed it as such. 😆

What episode are you on? It’s such a brilliantly written and acted show. Giancarlo Esposito who plays Gus is among the list of best guest stars/villains I’ve seen. He pretends to be so affable and genial but is a cold blooded monster.

p.s. Don’t be jealous of Chelsea just because Man United S-U-C-K-E-D all season.

          • December 29, 2013 at 4:29 pm

😆 Giancarlo Esposito gives me the CHILLS!!!!

I’m only on episode 3 in season 4, I do NOT want this to end.

Confession: I find Hank attractive /runs

I’m one or two episodes ahead. At first, I was all, yes I’m gobbling up the episodes super fast and then I realized I only had one more season left and then it’s bye bye to Walter White aka Heisenberg and dumb, dumb, poor Jesse and now I haz a sad. 😀

Hank? Ooooooooo…..someone has something for the bald, loud, and belly full of jelly huh? 😆

                  You kinda did, mate. 😀

It’s amazing how Walt has changed. Bryan Cranston played the character so beautifully and menacingly well.

In season 1, he’s all no violence, no death and then boom! he begins killing like there’s no tomorrow. He uses the Heisenberg alias and the, this is all for my family mantra to justify a lot of crap.

It’s going to be interesting to watch how the empire all crumbles because it can’t sustain itself. I can’t wait. It’s going to be gooooood!

                  • December 29, 2013 at 4:57 pm

Exactly! His ‘journey’ is an extraordinary one, and the thing is: it’s utterly believable. When you think of the timid man he was at the start, devoid of any self esteem, and now, it’s almost Jekyll and Hyde-ish, he’s capable of anything, and justifying it internally. It’s just the most amazing series.

I’m very happy you guys are watching it! imho, the last season is the best season. They pack so much into every episode that it feels like 4 episodes in 1.

                    • December 29, 2013 at 5:13 pm

Oh crikey, I don’t know if I’ll cope Forus!

That’s what I’ve heard. Apparently season 5 drew a lot of people in because the hype around the show went to stratospheric levels and lots of people tuned in and caught up. I’m on season 4 now and it’s been a fantastic ride. With all I’ve heard about season five, I can’t wait for super duper great one-two punch.

You nailed it, Chiparoo. The character development alone is phenomenal.

The other shortcoming for Walt, is his ego. His overinflated ego and smug sense of know-it-allness. He’s intelligent, yes, but it is also his greatest downfall. He wants to be recognized for how much of a master he is at creating blue meth and “providing for his family” that he doesn’t quite care or understand the consequences of his actions. Jesse spirals and spins even more out of control season after season (through many of his own faults) but Walter hasn’t lost anything of value deep down. It’s also weird that he seems to care for Jesse but is it genuine emotion or is it because Jesse is just another cog in the meth making wheel It’s fascinating to watch.

From what I’ve heard, season five blows all the other seasons out of the water and every episode packs a punch. I can’t handle it! 😆

                    • December 29, 2013 at 5:28 pm

So true about Walt. Timid and lacking self-esteem early on, but, exactly, all that combined with an arrogance and frustration that his genius hasn’t been recognized, and a bitterness over his former partner going on to make his fortune. A dangerous enough cocktail, made all the more explosive by what was to come in his life. Seriously, if Season 5 is even more amazing, I’m not sure I’ll be able to breathe.

Last January I had bronchitis and was therefore housebound and a friend told me about it and said it would help pass the time to watch it on Netflix. OMG. I almost didn’t want to get better. I ended up watching it pretty much non-stop for days until I was caught up to the final season. Crazy, crazy good. Be sure to locate the video where Hank discusses the end of the show. But not until you’ve seen the end!!! Oh and the very last song of the last episode is amazingly PERFECT.

That show was so good – so much so that to this day I probably think about different parts of it at least once a week. It ended perfectly so I don’t want it back but I wouldn’t be surprised if I never again see another series on TV well done in every respect; the acting, the filmography, and the well scripted lines, the character development and the storyline itself .

              • December 29, 2013 at 4:48 pm

“OMG. I almost didn’t want to get better.”

😆 I know how you feel, Forus!

It reminds me of when I watched West Wing (as usual, I was about three years behind everyone else) – I couldn’t cope with the thought of it ending, so tried to ration the last season’s episodes in the hope that they’d last, well, forever. When I finally watched the last episode I was inconsolable …. still coming to terms with it being over!

My excuse now is that I don’t have Netflix, but the real reason is that last time we discussed it BWD told me that it’s so good because it’s ‘bad’. I don’t handle bad well.

              • December 29, 2013 at 4:40 pm

It is bad, VC, but in a good bad kind of way 😕

So I hear. Problem is I already have problems sleeping and am susceptible to nightmares, so I don’t want to chance it. I confess I do feel tempted when you gals are all excitedly discussing the episodes.

                  • December 29, 2013 at 4:51 pm

I know what you mean VC, I don’t have a strong stomach for rough stuff either, and it is rough in parts, but it really is like nothing I’ve ever seen on TV before, it’s utterly absorbing – take a chance, watch the first few episodes and see what you think.

                    December 29, 2013 at 5:20 pm

vc, I NEVER watch any horror movie or any violent movies but thoroughly enjoyed every episode of Breading Bad In those parts, which are believable and not gratuitous violence, I still mute it and might walk out of the room. But 90% of it is very smart dialogue with no violence. Those parts that might be too much you are well aware they are coming up and you can just bypass them.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend Netflix. Very easy to sign up and at $7 a month I get more than my monies worth. Very similar to Amazon where they will skillfully recommend movies for you based on what you watched and liked in the past. It seems there are thousands of movies that never made it to the theaters or on tv. My genre is strong female romantic lead in foreign films. A whole lot better than most anything on tv and without any commercials.

Thanks for taking the time to offer some insight, FORUS, much appreciated. Like you, horror is not a genre for me; I have NEVER watched a horror movie and violence I find very hard to swallow, especially when unexpected and gratuitous. I confess that I pretty much covered my face throughout ‘Red Tails’ which I went to see after getting the buzz here. In truth I hadn’t considered the mute option as I really haven’t watched TV in years. I’m actually now leaning more towards a trial of the first segment. We’ll see. I won’t order Netflix though because I really do not enjoy movies, generally finding them too unrealistic, language too gratuitously foul, too long and often too much sex &/ violence. You gals seem determined to drag me into the land of the living! 😉

It’s not bad as in bad. It’s bad as in it’s sooooooo good. The lengths humans will go to justify their behaviors is fascinating.

Plus, the show is one of the best well written shows on TV. It has great dialogue, great acting, great scenes. Everyone from A – Z does a fantastic job.

                Five seasons of epic fun.

I believe you, Utal. Apart from when you are defending PBO or fighting with CC, it’s the most excited I ever see you (this and Scandal – which I also have never watched)! However, knowing how my brain works I have to weigh the pros and cons, and I don’t think I can handle watching and still get the little bit of sleep I now get. Too chancy.

          • December 29, 2013 at 4:40 pm

No, I won’t watch. I recorded one show to just peek. It was the one were the stars baby girl was born. Also at the end Jessie’s girlfriend died by chocking on her vomit. It hits too close to home for me. Meth is a very real problem in WY. But it doesn’t bother me that anyone else enjoys it for it’s writing, acting, etc. It was very realistic. Please don’t block me Chips or UT. I have my guilty pleasures too.

Off til Thursday, are you? Good for you! Hmmmmm. I’d better go look for my fastest running shoes with so many others free to run for the TOD gate in the upcoming week.

Wouldn’t you know I bought a stuffed Camouflage Duck from A&E long before this controversy was public? I’d never watched Duck Dynasty and new nothing about the show. But you couldn’t help hearing about them and how popular they were. My hubby had seen it a couple times but wasn’t enthusiastic. He does like to collect stuff to resell on eBay. So A&E offered this cute stuffed duck saying only 100 were being made. Hubby said go ahead, order it. It is much cuter than any of the people. 😉 Now I guess it will be a toy for my big dogs. Except it doesn’t have a squeaker. A&E conned me and they are going in junk email and/or getting a letter if I feel like taking the time to write it. They had way more than a hundred to sell. They saw this coming IMHO. I’m the sucker born that minute. It wasn’t that much, just the idea. Grrrr.

I’m guessing the new (desperate and wrong) GOP talking point will be that both parties are in disarray.

Bill De Blasio with the Clintons must be driving them insane—-most progressive on stage with most conservative. If we stick to this presentation of unity we will have a wonderful election night 2014.

  10. December 29, 2013 at 4:39 pm

Ok, now that my stomach is a bit settled, I just have this to say. Between you and the folks on TPV, you are just the loveliest people on the interwebs. The fact that you all put up with my scribblings and my questionable taste in music chuffs me to no end. I would be a much grouchier person without the oasis created by Chips and maintained by UT. I see the vitriol on the RWNJ and LWNJ sites, and I think to myself: “That used to be me, angry at everything, but doing nothing to change it.” Hope and the work to fulfill that hope make you a much happier person. We see that in what PBO and Pope Francis and Pres. Rouhani do. Cynicism is easy; cynicism means you have all the answers yet never have to do anything to implement them because it’s so obvious that everyone else is an idiot. It gives you an easy righteousness. Real change is difficult work; but it doesn’t seem difficult when you’re doing it, because you’re working towards a goal.

So, to all of you, thank you.

Here’s a little something to add to our stockpile ammunition of 2013 accomplishments. This video was put out by the Dept. of Interior and they promise Pt. @ will be released next week.

    • December 29, 2013 at 6:29 pm

      Thanks VC.

I think the Interior Department will be a major player during our President’s second term.

Another “under-the-radar” Cabinet Department, much like State, now that Hillary is no longer head honcho.

Both will 10 times busier next year than under the 8 years of GWBush.

      Wow.

I wonder if POTUS knew in May 2012 when Robin Roberts was asked to interview POTUS as he came out in support of Marriage Equality.

      http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20770501,00.html

Robin Roberts spent 2013 fighting for her health, and for the first time reveals she had a special person by her side: girlfriend Amber Laign.

Roberts publicly acknowledged a relationship with Laign on Sunday when she referred to her in a year-end Facebook post celebrating her many blessings.

“I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” she wrote.

Good Sunday Evening TODable TODbots 😉

I was just wondering………since today is Sunday and NYT took shorter amount of time to write about BENGHAZI than Lara Logan and her 60 Minutes fellow liars did as they dumped on the Nation on Oct 27 2013……a False story they claimed that took over a year to produce…….I was wondering perhaps, 60 Minutes on CBS (CBS is a Network that conducts Polling partnership with the NYT)……perhaps, CBS 60 Minutes should have the Reporter from the NYT on BENGHAZI on their show Today, simply, to show Lara Logan and 60 Minutes how a reporter should go about trying to REPORT?
