I had just said at the end of the last post that PBO’s eyes have looked tired lately so I am glad he is with his family away from DC.

First year that he left DC on time!

    • December 23, 2013 at 9:12 pm

      99ts is right.

DC beltway MSM and obstructionists GOP have done all they can to dampen our President’s spirits by lying, whining and admitting they care nothing about facts, only spin.

Love seeing this photos which do invade his privacy a bit, but it’s a joy to know how relieved he is to be away from the jackals.

Thank you, Hawaii, for being such gracious hosts.

If you’re unfamiliar with the specifics of how journalism has been abandoned by the WHPC, recall the question that Julie Pace, AP asked our President on Friday… Aside from data points… This as clear an admission as possible that the MSM has made a pact to pursue the “meme of the week” against our President, and to make attacks against him as personal as possible.

So unprofessional and despicable. I’ll say it again, cannot believe these people get a paycheck for what they do (spread Koch propaganda).

To illustrate, here’s a couple of tweets I sent to DC-turned-local Kentucky reporter Sam Youngman on Friday:

Hello late TODers – Christmas Eve in y world & this one is busy busy – cooking & cleaning – I do not cook on Christmas Day – with temps around 90F my Mom taught me to cook the day before. So we are having

Everyone’s favorite salmon fishcakes (my Mom’s recipe)
    Sliced ham off the bone
    Cold Roast Chicken
Green Salad with black olives and avocado
Potato bake (for this one I turn on the oven)
    sweet perino tomatoes (my favorite)
    stuffed eggs
    herb bread

Mini pavlovas with custard, cream, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries – covered in grated chocolate and served with vanilla icecream.

amk – if you are around – thank you for the Christmas message to all at TOD – I had to get out the magnifying glass – but found my name. πŸ™‚

Chips – thank you for the golf lesson – I’ll always be watching with pictures like this πŸ™‚

I can get to your place before I leave home – I think it takes you a day or more to get here πŸ™‚

We don’t do thanksgiving – so Christmas is our family day.

    • December 23, 2013 at 8:52 pm

99ts, your menu sounds wonderful. Love your idea of not cooking on Christmas day! So cool that your season now has all those berries for the pavlova.

Some folks in my world still cook a hot dinner – but most do not – fresh salads and cold cuts – makes for a day when everyone enjoys being together. My failing is to forget something – we eat for supper what I forget to put on the table for the midday meal!

    • December 23, 2013 at 8:54 pm

99ts, that menu has me in tears, toooooooo delicious!!!

If you ever head this way – drop in πŸ™‚ and join us – I truly can’t cook – all of this is put together with the basic of knowledge (& Mother’s recipe) – and by 6pm this evening my kitchen will look like the pictures you show of your cake cooking ventures. Mr 99 has learned to be the kitchen cleaner upper – bless him

Too true – sadly we live 100km (60 miles in US language) from the beach. I grew up 100 metres (110 yards) away from the mighty Pacific.

  22. December 23, 2013 at 9:20 pm

There was a discussion on an earlier thread about the 15 Dem Senators who are pursuing additional sanctions against Iran, despite being told by the President he will veto any such action.

Even the emoprog pundits are supporting our President against these “war at any cost” Dems.

My two cents on the earlier thread is that something in NJ politics may be motivating the junior Senator (Cory Booker).

A quick glance tells us this list is heavily weighted in favor of the northeast.

Aside: When I was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s in Duncan Hunter Jr’s district (San Diego County) I had met exactly 1 Jewish person in my life (at Girl Scouts). I went off to UCLA, fell in love with Jewish food, and returned home during the summer, disappointed that I could not get a bagel, which I had never heard of until UCLA).

Cory Booker should have learned something from Hillary. I believe this will haunt him in the future. I am surprised at him for jumping on this slippery slope.

    • 98 jackiegrumbacher
      December 23, 2013 at 9:59 pm

Arapaho, these senators are obviously reacting to pressure from some big groups and some powerful donors. They will go against the president because the veto gives them an out. They can tell the big donors that they did their best, but they could not override the veto. So they’ll get off the hook, without really messing up the works. I think they will also get a lot of personal calls and pressure from the president and Harry Reid. There’s a lot of posturing going on now.

So, instead of showing the world a united front with President Obama, they would rather serve their lobbyist masters? Who do these people work for, and who pays their salaries? Absolutely ridiculous.

I was rooting for Gillibrand for 2016 (possibly), but if she’s a slave to the powers that be like this, instead of supporting the sitting President, then I’m done.

Time for serious pushback. Mobilize people. Tweet Harry Reid and DSCC. Tell them to forget about asking for money if they sabotage peace and undermine the President.

Thank you, Arapaho:) I posted this earlier and I’m VERY proud that something good finally came out of AZ…and PHX in particular:) It’s because the Mayor of Phoenix, Greg Stanton, made this his passion and his mission. He had help from PBO and Sec. Shinseki and got this done for the veterans in Phoenix that deserved this and so much more….no one that has served our country should EVER be in this position to begin with. Bravo to them all for doing this, and getting this done ahead of schedule. ( Yes, the Mayor of Phoenix is a DEMOCRAT….but I didn’t have to tell you all that:) His actions speak for themselves)

Just got home from dinner…when in the hell did PBO get those guns??!!! He’s been working out:) Be still my heart….. Yes, golf IS fun!! For real!

    North Korea’s most surprising border.

North Korea is one of the world’s most hermit-like countries, so it’s rare to get a chance to meet people who live there. But the Chinese border town of Dandong is different. There are North Korean businessmen, waitresses and drivers. Some even speak – and sing – in English.

There is a seaside feel to this Chinese border town – its glitter-hard edge softened by the passage of river boats and wedding couples posing for photographs.

The lights strung up along the waterfront remind me of Europe. And there is music floating in from somewhere, the notes blown about in the wind.

Looking over the balustrade, across the narrow stretch of the Yalu River, it is hard to believe that the other bank is North Korea.

It is easy when living in Seoul to think that the notorious Demilitarized Zone is the only kind of border North Korea has.

    inneresting read.

    • December 23, 2013 at 11:08 pm

I read this amk, it is interesting. Don’t remember were I saw it, but it was on the internetz yesterday. The North Korean side still didn’t look pleasant. The waitresses sounded like slaves, surprised they knew any English.

It comes as no surprise to anyone at TOD that PBO looks gorgeous in his golf getups, does it? POTUS’ great good looks aside, his super stylish wife probably would stand in the way of the dorky plaid outfits some golfers wear.

I came across a headline at ABC.com, it read Michelle Obama looks glum at basketball game. Now I had to ask myself, is Michelle going to have to smile in every picture taken of her, if she doesn’t the media is going to interpret that as they see fit.
