    Morning TOD.
A brief note before I’m off for a long day with family.

ACA private insurance signups are over 1.4 Million.
Medicand SCHIP enrollments are just about 4 Million.
Total of enrollments exceeds 5.3 Million.
That is some individuals and some families—–so what? 10Million people covered on January 1 who had no protection this month?

The virtual silence from the Media about this Biggest of BFD tells you exactly who they work for and what monsters they are.

See you much much later but enjoy another day when Barack H. Obama is the President of the United States of America.

I used to think Huckabee wasn’t quiet as bad as those extreme radical conservatives, well I don’t think that anymore. Mike Huckabee is one of those extreme radical redneck racists conservatives. I’m so dam tired of some white folks trying to tell blacks how they felt about being treated less then human, having no rights.

Making sure your sons knew not to look at a white woman the wrong way or they could be kill like Emmitt Till was, but Uncle Phil don’t talk about things like that.

Huckabee IS extreme. He simply does a better job at hiding it. I watched the 2008 primaries quite closely in 2008. He was saying pretty mean things with a smile. And he was “schmoozing” the press so hard it was cringe inducing. And of course, the press, who loves the attention so much, fell for him.

Yep. President Obama and democrats have worked very hard at rebuilding the economy. AND worked very hard at mitigating the bad effects of republican policies. However, Republicans will take the results as a sign that THEIR austerity works. While in reality, what’s happening is that republicans are SLOWING the economic growth. If President Obama and democrats had been able to implement all of their agenda, economic growth would be EVEN BETTER and the unemployment would be AT LEAST one point lower. Economic experts have said so.

But proving a negative is impossible. So, the “good” economy doesn’t make republicans as much vulnerable as I would like.

Good news is they’ll feel extra confident in 2014 and will overreach, as they often do.

This is a very interesting read, President Obama is trying to move different government agencies in real-time to prevent and or end genocide that has plagued the continent of Africa.

President Obama commutes the sentences of 8 people. A lesson in outrage vs organizing ensues

And along comes the great Al Giordano to take down that nonsense:
To say, “Oh, it’s only eight, he should have released all tens of thousands of them” is trademark “Eeyore Activism” (the syndrome in which any one step toward progress is never enough, in which some even express anger at the person who made that step). As one with scar tissue upon scar tissue from the slings and arrows of having fought to end all imprisonment for drug crimes for so long, I see it as a watershed moment. It “normalizes” the concept for public opinion, opening the door for the rest of us to organize to free the rest.

The National Rifle Association reportedly advised its members against participating in a study released this week that shows a majority of gun sellers want tougher background checks for gun buyers.

The NRA apparently was unaware that the University of California professor behind the study — himself an NRA member — received the email discrediting his research.

Garen Wintemute, director of the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program, conducted a survey of 1,601 federally licensed gun dealers and pawnbrokers across the country in 2011. Fifty-five percent of respondents supported comprehensive background checks.

But when Wintemute started interviewing gun vendors for his study, he received an email essentially advising him against himself.

“If you are a federally licensed dealer in firearms, you may recently have received a survey questionnaire from gun control supporter Dr. Garen Wintemute, of the University of California, Davis,” said the email, obtained by Al Jazeera.

“Why is Dr. Wintemute sending the survey?” it continued. “Consider the source. Over the years, he has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from anti-gun organizations to conduct ‘studies’ designed to promote gun control.”

Wintemute said he never received any money from anti-gun groups. “I’ve turned it down, in fact,” he said.

Wintemute said he did not respond to the email. “The positions taken by the leadership of the organization,” he said, “don’t represent NRA members.”

The NRA was not available for comment at time of publication.

Small Alabama town accidentally hires black drag queens to dance in Christmas parade
    By Scott Kaufman
    Sunday, December 22, 2013 12:09 EST

Residents in the small town of Semmes, Alabama were surprised when one of the acts in the annual Christmas parade was a group of black drag queens known as “The Prancing Elite.”

The captain of the troupe, Kentrell Collins, said he believed the offer had been made in good faith, and that the representative for the Friends of Semmes to whom he spoke knew who she was hiring.

“I said we’re all over 21 and we’re guys. She was so excited. She was like I didn’t know they had any groups like that in Mobile,” Collins told Fox 10 News.
