I love being able to see so many pictures of the First Family every day. As I looked at this pictures of FLOTUS I noticed how engaged she always is with everyone she meets. And I was thinking how many lives they are touching each and every day. So many people will have hugged them, shaken their hands, smiled at them and gotten a smile in return. People tell them their troubles and share their happiness. It’s just amazing how many lives they personally touch each and every single day. Thanks for so many things here, but this is a thank you for the pictures. …And the TOD community. …And the naughty mat comments. …And the great tweets. …And the positive Obama loving world that is powerful to see and that I can actually feel when I open TOD. …And, oh heck! Itz all so good!!!

I don’t know if this was already posted, but I’m so glad. This article takes Issa to the woodshed and with good reason.

“House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is calling for a high level security briefing on the operations of Darrell Issa (R-CA), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, in which he would have to be forthcoming about what information he has released and to whom after he got his hands on sensitive documents surrounding HealthCare.Gov. It would then be up to the Department of Justice to make a determination….

The Ed Show had a panel that discussed it:

….Issa finally got his hands on sensitive information about HealthCare.Gov that were it to be leaked, panelist E.J. Dionne pointed out, would make the site vulnerable to a cyber attack and would endanger national security. The release of the information could jeopardize the security of websites across the government, according to cyber security experts from across the administration IT departments….

Darrell Issa is a crook! I wish the DNC and DCCC would target his district and expose his criminal past as well as the millions of our tax money he is wasting in his witch-hunt against President Obama. I also think that he can be defeated in 2014. His margin of victory in 2012 was much lower than his margins in all the previous elections.

    sometimes, I wish that POTUS would not tell these members of congress/senate about the specific day the First Family is leaving for Hawaii;

why, because sometimes I feel like the members of senate/house vindictively delay crucial votes just to spite PBO and cause him to shorten his vacation

    • December 19, 2013 at 9:46 pm

      ?

I think Harry Reid’s got this.

Don’t think that the Obamas will shorten their vacation this year.

Last year was awful, with PBO in Hawaii for only a couple of days. I absolutely LOATHED the GOP a year ago. And it didn’t get any better in January when they filibustered an enlisted vet for Defense Secretary. That episode ranked up there with the daily crap thrown at our President by the MSM and GOP (in terms of how mad it made me).

Yesterday I was asking TODville why Max Baucus for Ambassador to China (and others wondered too… FayPax is obviously not a fan [nor am I — think that the “corporatist that Brian Schweitzer had in mind when called POTUS one was actually Baucus). And MTMarilyn said she thought Baucus was on his way to lobby for some financial services firm when he retires.

BobFR was astute enough to figure out PBO’s real rationale, and here it is in a 3 minute video last night (from the Rachel Maddow show, hosted by Steve Kornacki because Rachel was at the WH Christmas party for the media — which apparently was attended by Chris “emoPutin” Hayes and Ed Schultz as well).

    A quick FYI.

I watched part of a segment on Rachel’s show. Senator Menendez has a bill to enact sanctions on Iran. This effort will clearly sabotage President Obama’s and SoS Kerry’s efforts at diplomacy with Iran. I saw that one of my Senator’s, Ben Cardin, is one of the sponsors of this bill. I immediately sent him an email and told him if the bill is brought to the floor and he votes for it, it’s a deal breaker for me. I not a single issue voter. But this is playing with fire. PBO is trying to prevent a war with Iran and we have these stupid Congresscriters attempting to undo his efforts.

PBO has said he will veto the bill if it passes. Harry Reid has said the bill won’t come to floor, but there are several Democrats who are sponsors on the Menendez bill. And the possibility does exist that there could be enough Senators to override PBO’s veto. I doubt it, but I think we should let our Senators know where we stand. May I suggest you email/call/tweet your Senators and tell them to vote NO on the Menendez bill, should it come to the floor.

    Repub pissing contest continues. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/12/19/peter-king-rand-paul-disgraced-his-office/?hpt=hp_t2

They are ALL KINDS of messed up!

Rep. Peter King said fellow Republican Sen. Rand Paul owes the nation’s top intelligence official an apology after saying he should resign for “lying” to a Senate committee about a controversial surveillance program.

The New York congressman also said that Paul’s comparison of National Intelligence Director James Clapper to NSA leaker Edward Snowden is “absolutely disgraceful.”

“For Senator Paul to compare that patriot, General Clapper, with someone like Snowden, who is a traitor, who has put American lives at risk – Senator Paul should be ashamed of himself,” King said Thursday on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

“It’s an absolute disgrace. He disgraced his office and he owes General Clapper an apology immediately.”

I don’t like Rep. Peter King. But in this case he is absolutely correct! Edward Snowden is a traitor. And so is Glenn Greenwald! Chicken hawk Rand Paul is a disgrace. Rand Paul may think he is winning the emoprogs, but he will never win the support of the majority of Americans by praising a traitor who handed over our country’s classified information to the Russians and the Chinese.

Cubans will no longer need government permits to buy modern cars from state sellers.

Until new regulations in 2011, people could only sell cars built before the 1959 revolution.

Private property has been severely restricted on the Communist-run island since 1959. The changes are part of a shake-up of Cuba’s struggling economy.

I am having trouble thinking of any group of people who have more hate for their fellow man than the US GOP members. Perhaps those who supported apartheid were worse – but to want people to go bankrupt and die rather than tell them the truth about the ACA is truly disgusting. Little doubt there are millions who think it is simply “the government taking my money”

Ugandan MPs have passed a controversial bill that will ban miniskirts.

The anti-pornography bill, which also outlaws overtly sexual material including music videos, was voted through after a short debate.

When Simon Lokodo, Uganda’s ethics and integrity minister, proposed the legislation earlier this year, he said that women who wore “anything above the knee” should be arrested.

The bill needs to be approved by the president before becoming law.

Uganda is a socially conservative country – it is also considering legislation to increase the punishment for homosexual acts, including the death penalty in some cases.

What IS IT with these guys? First we learned Steve Stockman was a pig….and now we can add Dana Rohrabacher to the list! DISGUSTING

    http://crooksandliars.com/2013/12/piggy-republicans-dana-rohrabacher-edition

According to OC Weekly, Rohrabacher turned a million-dollar home that had brand-new carpet and appliances into an absolute pigsty.

When Congressman Dana Tyrone Rohrabacher moved into a four-bedroom, four-bathroom, million-dollar Costa Mesa rental home on April Fool’s Day 2010, the immaculate, 6,300-square-foot property could have been featured in a glossy real-estate magazine. Built in 1948, the two-story, Orange Avenue home had been updated in recent years for comfort and style. The carpeting was new, appliances worked and walls were spotless. Thriving flowers, plants and grass adorned the idyllic back yard less than 4 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

But it’s now understandable why Orange County’s senior, career politician secretly changed the locks and refused to allow homeowner Robert Polyniak inside for annual inspections. When he moved out in August 2012, Rohrabacher left behind a shockingly horrific pigsty, a dump worse than a college fraternity house of unhygienic slobs unfamiliar with the most basic tools of cleaning. Darlene Whitsell, Polyniak’s longtime girlfriend, entered the home shortly after the congressman’s departure and wept at the scene.
