Good one, Africa. I’m glad to hear that people are wising up. Wish they had polled them against used car salesman.

used car salesmen – the least trustworthy occupation of my youth, I would now put in about 10th place – politicians, bankers, CEOs, mining magnates, wall street financiers etc etc are wayyyy ahead

Good morning all. We’re scheduled for a miracle this weekend, as temperatures are supposed to rise from the current 20 to the high sixties. This is to make everyone crazy scrambling in their storage closet for the lighter jackets that got put away in November. Hope everyone else gets a break and Hawaii delivers good weather for the president’s family.

There seems to be one – or at the most two – pictures of Snowden in the hands of the press – I really wonder if he exists at all??? Could be the start of a good conspiracy theory

99t, maybe our crack WHPC can write about photographic access in Russia. Better yet, maybe they can go there and try it.

Indeed – wonder if Putin will be giving out the photo opportunities – the olympics look like being quite interesting – outside of the sports events

Eddie seems not to understand that: 1) he’s owned and operated by the Russians now and only Vladimir gets to decide how to ‘dispose’ of him; 2) most countries (especially in western hemisphere) aren’t anxious to openly spit in the eye of the world’s super power; and 3) he’s really a two-bit hacker and Brazil probably has access to many of its own.

What Snowden is not happy in Russia. Well it’s Christmas time, if you see this Edward Snowden you are “Welcome” to come to my country. The U.S.A. I won’t turn you in. I mean why should I turn in a criminal like you in. I meant to say, a hero like you. I mean I will give you a parade, and march your lousy behind right to PRISON where you belong.!!!!!!!!!!!

    http://cendax.wordpress.com/2013/12/16/republicans-are-running-scared/

It’s not that the “establishment” is in reality much different from the Tea Party conservatives, it’s that the establishment wants to, at least until after the election, cover up that they’re the same and make themselves look more “reasonable” and “moderate,” while the Tea Party conservatives want to fly their freak flag proudly. The only way to keep that civil war going, and maybe creating a real change in the Republican Party? Democrats have to win. There’s nothing like a series of defeats – and no, one election isn’t it – to make a party decide it has to change direction.

That’s why the mid-term elections next year are important. It’s not just having the ability to pass progressive legislation, although that’s a big factor. It’s also the start of stopping a profoundly regressive movement. All elections are important, a fact that often gets lost on pundits and various web commentators, but this one has some more importance. The pundits are “sure” that Democrats aren’t going to take back the House, and may lose the Senate. It’s time to once again prove them wrong. If there’s a lesson from 2010, it should be that sitting out an election is a sure path to being unable to accomplish anything. The Republicans are running scared, and we should keep them that way. Even more, we should be running scared as well, because the stakes of not being able to regain Congress and state houses are disastrous.

DF, this is great. It should be used by every Dem candidate running to office in 2014. I wish we had a similar site for people whose food stamps have been cut and for those who will go hungry if the UI is not extended. People need to see the real faces and understand the true stories of those who are carelessly tossed aside by the Republicans. This isn’t a game that you play for political advantage. This is real with actual human consequences.

Russian MPs have backed an amnesty that may include some of the country’s best-known prisoners including Pussy Riot and the Greenpeace Arctic protesters.

The State Duma in Moscow unanimously approved the law at its third reading and it is expected to come into force within days.

It covers at least 20,000 prisoners, including minors, invalids, veterans, pregnant women, and mothers.

Charges against 30 people arrested on a Greenpeace ship may be dropped.

The 30 mostly foreign nationals were recently released from custody but not allowed to leave Russia.

Others who may be freed include some, but not all, of the political protesters arrested during clashes with police after Vladimir Putin’s inauguration as Russian president for a third term last year.

Kaiser estimates that 1,046,430 Texas residents are in the coverage gap created by not expanding Medicaid, making this one state responsible for 1 out of 5 people who will be denied subsidized health insurance.

Other estimates suggest that between 1.4 million and 1.7 million people in the state would be eligible for the full expanded program. As all legal residents are eligible for Medicare and only citizens can vote, let’s assume that only half of the low-end estimate of eligible beneficiaries — 700,000 people — vote.

In 2010, Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) won re-election in a landslide.

His margin of victory? 631,178 votes.

This will only happen, AMK, it we work very, very hard for it. Already the Dem candidates for governor in PA are slamming Corbett on this issue. They need to slam harder every single day until he’s a bloody, babbling stump. It is beyond reason that a moderate state like PA is subject to the cruelties of a tea party governor. It has to end.

Please check bags thoroughly upon your return to make sure Snowden is not trying to “Slip Away”.
He may try to disguise himself as a champion figure skater since he is into the spy business.

I hope the President keep thing just like they are. This nasty anti-Obama press don’t need anymore photo access to the President, First Lady, or any of his family, not even Bo and Sunny.

Well, AB, since Sunny has a tendency to express his “feelings” a little more readily, I say they can photograph him.
