Sweet post, Chips! Saw the fireworks and was trying to “guess” what we were celebrating. Then I saw it was Donna’s new twin granddaughters and remembered how she’ll be sleeping like a baby herself, tonight!
Congrats Donna Dem!!!! What an exciting Christmas your family is going to have. I have twin brothers 1 1/2 years older than me I always wanted twins, but they didn’t come. Blessings on you all.
Thanks, MTMarilyn, for your response re: Schweitzer on the previous thread.
After the holidays I look forward to hearing your thoughts on good candidates to replace Baucus in the Senate. (Schweitzer must have confused PBO with Baucus, LOL). What do you think of Baucus as Ambassador to China — an out-of-the-blue appointment, no?
I understand completely Nena’s desire to have a Dem replaced with a Dem in both the Senate and House, but Schweitzer just isn’t the type who would be happy not being the top dog… think of how Rendell (for PA Gov) would operate in the Senate. Nope, Rendell and Schweitzer would only be happy when they are the ones calling the shots — not the collaborative types.
Also, I think Schweitzer would be miserable cooped up in DC… the grand expanse of the WH, well, that’s another matter. 😉
I agree with Schweitzer no liking DC. When he was Governor he took his dog with him everywhere. I don’t think he would be welcomed in Senate Chambers. Not sure about Baucus as Ambassador to China. That is out of the blue. I have been to 2 very interesting political meeting in the last 2 weeks. Have been so busy I haven’t had time to write it all down.
Tomorrow is my really busy 12 hour day, so must get some sleep.

I can already picture Grandma D having a wonderful time with those girls, especially over the Christmas holidays! Pity they live so far, as I can imagine Donna and I going off to shop for cute baby dresses, and matching socks, and maybe ribbons or hair clips. Aaaw!
Senate report warns of vast data mining ‘behind veil of secrecy’
By Kate Tummarello
————————————
Some of the companies included in the investigation sell products to marketers that label groups of consumers based on their financial vulnerability, the report said, citing labels like “Rural and Barely Making It,” “Credit Crunched: City Families” and “Tough Start: Young Single Parents.”
“The use of these consumer profiles merits close review” because products that group consumers based on financial vulnerability “likely appeal to companies that sell high-cost loans and other financially risky products,” the report said.
The report also notes that privacy experts worry that “ready access to increasingly detailed consumer data lends to differential pricing.”
Senate Commerce Report Says Data Brokers ‘Operate Behind a Veil of Secrecy’ [Updated]
Report based on a year-long investigation into 9 companies
By Katy Bachman

Rockefeller scolded the industry during the hearing, especially the way data brokers segment consumers so that they can be targeted by marketers. “I can’t prove it’s wrong, but there’s something lethal about it. Consumers are stigmatized and then the deck is stacked against them and people are making money off it.”
Yo cheapo, you could at least have gotten different coloured/styled onesies so ‘poor’ Grandma can start identifying each babe right away! /muttering – probably got those two at a bargain rate/
Was trying to make a visual wave, in case you were wondering.
Yes, it has a long way to go. Maybe another night will produce more realistic results. 😀
Good night!
Oh, and Good Morning, Amk (whenever you show up)! 😉
Mega Congratulations, Donna, on the wonderful news! Beautiful names for the baby girls — here’s to lots of health and happiness! They’re getting a pretty special lady as a grandma — enjoy!
Thanks for the caroling. Music lightens the heart. Plus it also gives us a celebratory time within our TOD family to wish all happiness to our new grandmother, Donna Dem. Two lovely girls. Donna Dem, may your celebration of this most beautiful gift of your two grand babies be such a glorious one. Congratulations to the proud parents and grandparents.
