MoooOOOooorning Early Birds! Thank you all for the suggestions for the blog list, added a couple to the previous post and will update the blogroll today. You’re fabulous!
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone. Ms. Chips, don’t break you are patting yourself on the back for being first. 😀 😀 😀
Good morning, TOD. Won’t be around much today. My morning to serve in our food pantry (Manna House–love the name) 🙂 Leaving there and going to a Christmas lunch. Taking my “famous” sweet potato pudding. YUM. It will be a new recipe for all there so anxious to see what the ladies say. I’m taking the recipe. How’s that for ego?! 🙂 🙂
I’ve never shared this. It goes back to our food pantry. Tuesday’s is our busiest days of the four days we are open. We typically serve high 40’s to mid 50’s (clients/guests. Of course, that’s the adults who sign in. They have to include number in household, adults & kids) The first three Tuesday’s in November — cut in food stamps — we served 94, 80, and 62!!!! There were also two noticeable differences: Instead of 4-5 new clients, we had 12, 11 and 10 those weeks. Also had people show up who hadn’t been there in a LONG time. Bottom line is that I have personally seen/experienced how the cut in food stamps affects our neighbors/community. Knowing it was a waste of time, I have, in the past, called all three of my reps and invited them to stop in when they are “back home.” Sigh…………
{{{tnmtngirl}}}} You do good work:) I’m sure that everyone will love the pudding…yes, take the recipe. No shame in being a good cook and to pass the goodness around. Have a great day…and keep on those clueless reps. After all, THEY got THEIRS, all is well!
Tn, you are amazing. You have a good heart and a generous nature and the good you do helps a lot of people. It pains me to think of how many families are suffering from both the cut in food stamps and the lack of action on the UI extension. Republicans could simply care less about people and are oblivious to anyone’s hardship. I’ve been donating three times as much food as usual to our food bank, but I stand in awe of all your efforts. Bless you!
COMPLETELY random pic! I jumped a little when I saw that megawatt smile and those beautiful eyes gazing back at me this morning…if I would have known that this “completely random “pic was going to greet me this morning, I’d have gotten up earlier!! That smile gives the full moon outside my window some competition!
Congrats to you, Chips for your 1st this morning….bogus as it was:) You surely thought the megawatt smile would detract from your bogus first place today…I can tell! Well…for me, it worked! Thanks.
Partly agree on that. Germany has a very different political landscape. The US are basically a two-party system, whereas we have like five that matter. Coalitions are necessary for governing. 🙂 But yes, sometimes I do think that the GOP could learna lot from that kind of European politics.
Also, did I ever mention how amused i am whenever a Republican praises my chancellor for her conservative views yet is very ignorant of the fact that German politics would be seen a even moooooore leftist than PBO´s if American standards were applied? 😀
GoooOOoood MoooOOooorning, Chips Chica! I see that PF58 summarized your entry quite accurately.
Morning, Danny-O! ♥ ♥ ♥ You’re doing a regularly good job dragging out to enjoy the fresh air! 😀
MooOOOoorning, Evening/Night, TODobots! 😀
Morning to you, Desertflower! I think (I hope) today will be a good day. You have yourself some great fun days as you and your kiddies wind your way towards Christmas break.
Thanks, vc…hope you’re feeling better this morning. I’m just counting the days and biding my time…the kiddos are off the wall. I think I’m just a bystander now:)
I can’t believe how lucky chips was in that random blind draw for this early bird photo——-to just randomly come up with something so…….uh……pleasing to the eye…….even tho selection was so utterly random.
Hi Danny! I see you are trying to butter up your accuser, hoping she will drop those (false) charges against you. Remember, the bad things that happened to your toys had NOTHING to do with you! Maintain silence, confess to nothing. You are innocent!
Okay Chips, so where did you find that random picture? In the recent book shopping spree, or from a previously hidden source? I demand you reveal all the previously hidden random pics that you have placed, more than likely, under the mattress – better to reveal them ALL now, before that Danny boy stumbles onto them, I think.
Hmmmmmmm. So, are *you* stepping around *my* morning wish because I spoke the truth? Hmmm. I notice several people pointed to the unusual undeserved reward you accepted. Can’t handle too much truth in concentrated doses?
Evening, Amk! /picky-picky/ 😉 Yes, I saw the chilling chicken, and noticed your tweet further down re Merkel, although I confess I don’t normally check the tweets on line here.
National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden has written in “an open letter to the Brazilian people” that he would be willing to help Brazil’s government investigate US spying on its soil, but that he could do so only if granted political asylum.
In a letter obtained and published early on Tuesday by the Folha de S Paulo newspaper, Snowden said he was impressed by the Brazilian government’s strong criticism of the NSA spy programme targeting internet and telecommunications worldwide, including monitoring the mobile phone of the Brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff.
Brazilian senators have asked for Snowden’s help during hearings about the NSA programme’s aggressive targeting of Brazil, an important transit hub for transatlantic fibre-optic cables.
“I’ve expressed my willingness to assist where it’s appropriate and legal, but, unfortunately, the US government has been working hard to limit my ability to do so,” Snowden says in the letter, translated into Portuguese by the newspaper. It did not make the English original available online.
Traitor needs his ass thrown in jail for the rest of his miserable life.
And he should be granted amnesty!! So he can travel the world and cause chaos in international relationships. I truly have NO idea as to what he and GG are trying to achieve. No country could ever trust them – why should anyone trust them!
He is causing serious issues in my part of the world (for our RW govt) so I’m not really sure he has any clue what he is doing. I got so infuriated with the Mandela reference – Snowden is generating hate and distrust worldwide – he has done nothing to benefit anyone except GG. I think the latter convinced him he would be a hero and welcomed by any country in the world. Clueless – both of them.
Hahahahahahaha…so things aren’t going so great in Russia huh? Don’t worry – Brazil won’t take him either. And if they do, they’ll tire of him pretty quickly. This guy is BAD NEWS and contrary to his warped orientation, most people around the world just aren’t driven by an abnormal hatred of President Obama – even those from countries not considered friendly to the US.
This abnormal and pervasive hatred of everything “Obama” is sown, plowed and reaped right here in the good ol’ US of A.
One more thing. He doesn’t know as much as he’s pretending. Snowden will take the asylum and try to disappear. He can’t tell Brazilian intelligence anything they don’t already know. The hacker is just looking for a get out of jail free card.
The Brazilian intelligence won’t go for that. If Russia doesn’t want him, he can’t be that valuable. He would not need to write any “open letter” to Brazil to convince them – they would have seized him in a heartbeat.
Snowden is self-imploding globally and only the racist Libertarian US media is holding him up right now. All this “Person-of-the Year” and “Most-Influential-Person” and court ruling nonsense is the desperation on the part of the right-wing complex to salvage Snowjob and stick it to President Obama – who they realize is going to win this battle.
While the MSM was breathlessly reporting his “heroics” I remember reading the comments of some intelligence analysts who said flat out Snowden’s value has a limited shelf llife.
This is his Snowden’s quarterly cry of help please get me out of here.
Good morning TODbots! It is great to wake up to the beautiful full moon outside and that megawatt smile of our President! Love the picture Chips!
Was just reading that the current count for Herring in the Virginia recount is 305. He has gained votes. They expect to be all done by Friday. Sure hope it continues like this.
Isn’t a bit interesting that these dudebros almost obsessively point to Black freedom fighters/civil rights leaders when comparing their pseudoheros to? Mandela, MLK, Rosa Parks, etc.
They almost NEVER mention other heroes like Ghandi, Abe Lincoln, etc or icons of other non-Black identities,. I wonder why this specific focus on Blacks? Hmm….
Hopefruit, you can answer your own question. Stop and really think about it….who are their heroes? Ponder on the names you will think of and ask yourself…were they really heroes? I think you’ll find they obsess about Black heroes because they don’t really have any.
I get so sick of them, but when a Republican said, “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired”…that did it.
Yes it’s true that they have no heroes of their own – but my point is that they seem to focus almost exclusively on Black heroes and not heroes of other races/ethnicities (and there are many).
That points to something more than just a need to have a hero.
I totally agree, though I admittedly can’t decide if it’s their schizophrenic way of seeking to appeal to Blacks, or a way of undermining our icons. Whichever…it’s sick to me.
If they were trying to appeal to Blacks, they would be working in the trenches with CURRENT Black leaders who are fighting for things relevant to Blacks and ordinary US citizens of every stripe – parity in education, housing, healthcare, voting suppression, unemployment, neighborhood safety, etc. They would be supporting the CURRENT Black President in his efforts to give ordinary citizens a better quality of life while keeping the US safe from foreign and domestic threats.
But that’s not what they’re doing. Instead they are invoking DEAD Black icons to advance their whimsical gripes about imagined “surveillance” while dismissing the past and current struggles of Blacks and other minorities.
What?! Hopefruit, you want sane, sensible conclusions. 🙂 You must remember you’re talking about a bunch of old white men who are in training to learn to talk to women. They are so stupid, they possibly consider invoking Black heroes like an affirming pat on the head.
No-one, but no-one is on a par with Nelson Mandela – those who would say such a thing have NO reality. There is not another person – living or dead – who has spent 27 years a political prisoner – come from prison – sat down with those who persecuted him – worked out a peaceful program to lead his people to freedom – and followed it through.
I HATE such comparisons, they are the words of the ignorant, the fools, the charlatans and lots of other descriptions that are best not spoken – just imagine – which country will have the state funeral and the world wide mourning for Snowdenski
Thanks, df, read this. Long and well researched. The two comments were interesting…..from people with some knowledge and experience. What stuck out to me, was the statement that when the Obama administration too took over, (not only was the domestic situation worse than they thought) the international scene and what was going on was MUCH worse than they had any idea. Leaks, spying, illegal operations…….as one of them said, only long term history will reveal the hell we were in and didn’t have any idea. The more I learn, the more I know why GWB’s advisers and lawyers have told him to keep QUIET. It will take at least a decade to recover from his mess.
Never ceases to amaze me – Our new treasurer – man of budgets for you but not for me – is preaching doom and gloom – we are about to go down the European path of austerity – that worked so well, we should definitely follow it – BUT
the news headlines – on the TV, radio, news , intertubes – We won the ASHES – Sport conquers all!!!
The Ashes are a trophy played for by England and Australia in the game of cricket – best of 5 games. For those of you who do not understand the game – the rules are usually described this way
1. You have two sides, one out in the field and one in, in the field.
2. Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.
3. When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
4. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
5. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
6. Amidst this there are two men called Umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
7. When both sides have been in and all the men are out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
Dotster, this was priceless–a perfect look at Noonan’s inanities. I loved the part about Reagan’s brain being her house. He was spot on. Noonan is like a displaced person living in a place and time she doesn’t recognize. Her only reference point, which has never changed, is her brief moment of glory with that destructive hack, Ronald Reagan. I can see her wandering in the halls of an upscale nursing home someday, saying, “Ronnie, Ronnie, wait for me. I’m coming to make your heavenly words sing again.” Wonder if her bedroom walls are lined with Reagan posters.
Pope Francis moved on Monday against a conservative American cardinal who has been an outspoken critic of abortion and same-sex marriage, by replacing him on a powerful Vatican committee with another American who is less identified with the culture wars within the Roman Catholic Church.
The pope’s decision to remove Cardinal Raymond L. Burke from the Congregation for Bishops was taken by church experts to be a signal that Francis is willing to disrupt the Vatican establishment in order to be more inclusive.
I saw the NYTimes article and cheered, hf. Pope Francis is wonderful!!!
Also worth cheering about in this morning’s Times:
SOARING US oil production—-remember McCain & P “Drill, Baby, Drill?” We sure didn’t need the GOP then, either.
Also, General Motors adding 5,000 jobs in Michigan. “Let Detroit Auto Industry go bankrupt” Wrong again GOPMSM.
President Barack Obama—perfect for America in 2008 and perfect for US now.
A perfect description, Jackie – I shouldn’t be surprised, but it still amazes me that just about no one in the MSM has examined his background/connections/agenda, bewildering.
Jer, I’m getting seriously sick of these disgusting bigots. Aren’t there deserts in New Mexico this guy can wander in for a while. Maybe the sun will burn the ugly out of his brain.
But not to these Fox folks, they are serious. I can hear some of them saying we have already given up the White House to a black man, now they want to take Santa. That Kelly woman is trying to claim it was just a joke, it was not a joke, she meant every word she said.
Remember when we were saying, “What war on Christmas?” The GOP was fighting a manufactured war of their own making. Sarah Palin needed the war to hawk her new book. Megan Kelly was just helping them create a controversy to make it appear there is a war on Christmas. Her dumb comment was followed up by outrage and academic proof of her being misinformed. Do not think she planned on being so completely caught.
She appears so dumb as does Michele Bachmann too. Both have advanced degrees and law degrees as does Ted Cruiz so that is where I get lost other than it just being an acting job pandering to their base.
Dan Beecher and his wife, Louise Coogan Beecher, unemployed since they lost their jobs in the 2008 housing crash, couldn’t find any affordable health insurance.
Tears of Relief
As a couple older than 50, they were offered premiums of $700 per month, which was too much for them to afford.
After being uninsured for five years, the couple recently was insured under the Affordable Health Act. They signed up during an enrollment fair for the Affordable Care Act in Cornwall last Saturday and found they were eligible for a government subsidy. Now they qualify for a free health plan.
“We can finally see doctors,” Mrs. Beecher said, wiping her tears.
State officials reported Monday that enrollments in New York State of Health, the state’s insurance marketplace, surged 34% in just the past week.
As of 9 a.m. Monday, 363,258 New Yorkers had completed their applications on the state’s health care exchange and 134,622 people had gone on to select coverage.
Of those obtaining coverage, 95,196 obtained private insurance and the rest qualified for Medicaid.
“We are very pleased to see that since the launch of NY State of Health on October 1, almost 135,000 New Yorkers have enrolled in quality, low-cost health insurance, and over 363,000 have completed applications and are eligible for insurance,” Donna Frescatore, executive director of NY State of Health, said. “We are seeing tremendous activity, and in the last week alone enrollments have increased by about 34 percent.”
I must admit that Pope Francis isn’t tied to old dogmas that have had a strangle hold on moving the Church to a more inclusive and progressive place. We are in a wonderful place that has the Pope and the President Of the United States of America on the same page.
And the first one who bans telephone recorded messages. I call every politician who hits my phone with one of them – to tell them they are LAST on my voting preference.
Agree with that also. I slam the phone down when I hear the click and the start of an automated message, as if that is going to hurt the feelings of the recording.
the big story is that failure to opt in could deepen disparities in health coverage across the board. As Kaiser puts it:
These adults will not gain access to a new affordable coverage option and likely remain uninsured. Given their high uninsured rates and low incomes, people of color will be disproportionately impacted by this coverage gap, particularly poor uninsured Black adults residing in the southern region of the country where most states are not moving forward with the expansion. These continued coverage gaps and their varied impacts across groups will result in millions of poor adults remaining uninsured and likely lead to widening racial and ethnic as well as geographic disparities in coverage and access to care.
DEMS GO ON OFFENSE ON OBAMACARE: The DCCC today is launching web ads and other paid media in the districts of 44 vulnerable House Republicans, highlighting what repealing Obamacare would do to ordinary people. There is also a new Website, FacesOfRepeal, that, like the ads, features those people describing what returning to the old health care system would mean to them in concrete, real life terms.
Even if more problems could arise during 2014, the best answer for Dems is to frame this as not a referendum on the law, but as a choice between sticking with a flawed effort to solve the health system’s problems and going back to the way things used to be — the Republican position, which remains unpopular.
It is time for the Democrats to go on offense. They have sat back in the corner long enough and let the GOP and the media tell lies and half truths about Obamacare. Now it’s time to fight back.
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Kentucky finds Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) clinging to a one point lead over challenger Alison Lundergran Grimes (D), 43% to 42%.
Key finding: McConnell’s approval rating is a dismal 31% to 61%.
[POTUS Alert! POTUS Alert! Steve Harvey Show, Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. ET. And MSM (probably WHPC) went on a whining binge! 🙂 ]
Steve Harvey interviewed President Barack Obama for his daytime talk show and learned that he shared a lot more in common with the president than he anticipated.
The former comedian and current host of The Steve Harvey Show visited the White House and left politics aside when he talked to President Obama. Instead, he touched on more personal topics that drew close to home for the two men.
“The greatest moment in that interview for me was [when] he was talking about his grandmother, who he misses so,” Harvey told NBC4 days following his interview with President Obama. “She passed in her eighties and my mom passed in her eighties.

So, in return for asylum, he’ll give Brazil lots and lots and lots of info about America’s intel-gathering?
But he’s a patriot, right?
Loser.
And he should be granted amnesty!! So he can travel the world and cause chaos in international relationships. I truly have NO idea as to what he and GG are trying to achieve. No country could ever trust them – why should anyone trust them!
Exactly 99ts! He’ll keep causing chaos until PBO leaves office, then he’ll quit leaking – we all know his agenda.
He is causing serious issues in my part of the world (for our RW govt) so I’m not really sure he has any clue what he is doing. G’morning Chips & TOD! 🙂 🙂 Chips I’m astounded that you failed to include Old Orange and FDL on the blogroll! You are slipping….
Going to fix that right now, Hopefruit ………. mooooooorning!!
Like the boss you are, Chips! 🙂 🙂
ROTFLMAO! This MUST be a male bird. 🙂
Yes…because a female would be taking a bubble bath in the sink with a glass of wine!
Exactly df — the hand-on-remote was another dead giveaway as to gender 🙂
I meant to say: *wing-on-remote* 🙂 🙂
Agreed:) No question
yeah, right. wimmin don’t touch beer at all.
That’s wine with soap suds! See the girl in the middle making that face? She KNOWS it’s gonna be nasty!
LOL 🙂
😆 The PERFECT meal!!!
Good morning TODbots! It is great to wake up to the beautiful full moon outside and that megawatt smile of our President! Love the picture Chips!

Many of these dudebros aren’t old. They are mostly under age 50. Which makes it even more disturbing.
Ah, sooooo true 99ts. It’s as Hopefruit said, they deliberately choose black icons for these comparisons to provoke, they’re the absolute dregs.

http://pleasecutthecrap.com/updated-snowden-is-a-fraud-and-so-is-greenwald/ Morning read.
That pic of PBO above is just…. WOW. It’s just too early for the naughty mat and Mr. Yardarm has not logged on yet.
Fixed the twitter thingy. One of the FF add-ons needed tweaking (and a bashing on the head)
Bet the ‘murkans won’t get it all.
Aussies made the limeys cry uncle. Made up for the last ashes up above.
3 nil even – they didn’t get a look in – nothing else on the news – every game since 1978 centenary test was discussed – because – cricket
Well, you aussies have been losing pretty badly the last few years to the brits and indians. So now time for over the top gloating.
Congratulations Aussies, you hammered them!!!
squelched them, crushed them, road-rollered them.
Like the south africans did to us recently.
And like the Irish cricket team did to, um, Afghanistan 😎
…. go together like strawberries and cream. 😆
You wish.
But they’re high ‘spirited’. Will give you that.
A gem!
The picture you paint of Noonan’s future is Perfecto! I can see it now!
Now I have to know who numbers 7-1 are. Who will be Hack number 1!!!
Peggy “Ronnie Reagen” Noonan, another right wing nut stuck in the past.
Anyone see this? http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/17/world/europe/pope-replaces-conservative-us-cardinal-on-influential-vatican-committee.html
What a breath of fresh air.
Go pope and change.
Amen
Saw that – he seems to be reorganizing many committees and groups to reflect his point of view. Up is down when I am agreeing with the Pope.
Does he have a food taster? Wait … that was the Medici’s. 🙂
Seriously, though, I’m liking this Pope & looking forward to seeing so much more from him.
Good Morning Chips and everybody.
—> OBAMA’S FAULT <—
U.S. consumer prices stayed flat in November, held down by falling gas prices. Inflation remains low across the broader economy… http://bigstory.ap.org/article/us-consumer-prices-flat-gas-costs-keep-falling
Morning JER, excellent news!
Chips, I’ve run out of loathsome words to describe that scum, GG. He’s like a boil on the backside of mankind that is long overdue for a lancing.
This teacher would have to make me take off my Santa hat. This whole Santa is white business is so stupid.

What a nice stage picture of our outstanding President of the United States..
I must admit that Pope Francis isn’t tied to old dogmas that have had a strangle hold on moving the Church to a more inclusive and progressive place. We are in a wonderful place that has the Pope and the President Of the United States of America on the same page.
Agree…..
😆
And the first one who bans telephone recorded messages. I call every politician who hits my phone with one of them – to tell them they are LAST on my voting preference.
Agree with that also. I slam the phone down when I hear the click and the start of an automated message, as if that is going to hurt the feelings of the recording.
Got my vote!

the big story is that failure to opt in could deepen disparities in health coverage across the board.
These continued coverage gaps and their varied impacts across groups will result in millions of poor adults remaining uninsured and likely lead to widening racial and ethnic as well as geographic disparities in coverage and access to care.
http://facesofrepeal.com/page/-/FacesofRepeal/index.html ***** Important ACA info***** Dems on offense!
I don’t pay much attention to polls but …. Go KY!
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Kentucky finds Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) clinging to a one point lead over challenger Alison Lundergran Grimes (D), 43% to 42%.
Key finding: McConnell’s approval rating is a dismal 31% to 61%.
.
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2013/12/17/mcconnell_barely_ahead_in_kentucky.html
Unfortunately, some of that disapproval is because McConnell isn’t crazy enough for them. But it is heartening to see Lundergran doing this well.
Rise and Shine.
