Ms. Dudette,
That name sounds very familiar. Wasn’t she one of the first of two AA to attend the Univeristy of Ga.? I was a young girl then and that was BIG news.
Good morning, all.
Hanging in here. With you as long as I can.
Thank you.
Making plans with friends and family to go to SA next year.
A life-long dream will finally come true only wished I could have gone sooner.
I am loss for words for what I am feeling. So much pride…….tears just continue to flow every time I come here.
Think I saw that reference to the traffic jam much earlier, too, so I’m hoping that’s eased by now … yes, the Secret Service will be glad when he’s at his destination. And so will we!
This is so cool that you are streaming this important part of history! Thank you!
By the way, forgive me if this seems trivial under the circumstances, but watching the Chicago Bears beat the Dallas Cowboys 45-28 tonight, of all nights, when President Obama was traveling on Air Force One with Former President George W. Bush seemed quite the poetic metaphor 🙂
in my part of Africa, rain falling on the day of your funeral is a signal to the community that the departed was a very kind person
and
that rain is a final gift, he/she which is washing away the tears of those who loved him/her and at the same time giving a gift of a rich food harvest for the community in the very near future (since most agricultural relies on rain-fed cropping patterns)
Between watching all the happy diverse faces in the stadium on the live stream above and the beautiful significance you’ve shared above about the rain falling, I’m already crying and emotional. This is going to be an incredible celebration in Madiba’s honor
Retweeted by a USA Today reporter. If so, then wow, it’s crazy how a person’s beliefs (if some beliefs can be changed) or position changes when viewed through the lens of history.
so may be this change in perspective will make our media shut up about castro, Mugabe and others – at least just for the duration of Pres. Mandela’s funeral
Another one who I hope is feeling shame, deep down, is Kissinger. The mastermind of many very ugly episodes in world history, like the coup d’état in Chile.
Commitment!
😆 You ARE committed Alycee!!!!
🙂
Go Alycee!!! 🙂
hey.
People outside the stadium waiting to get in are singing and dancing too!
🙂 🙂 May have to take a quick nap and set my alarm….now that PBO has landed safely, will check back in a few!
Congrats on 1st. Alycee! Proud of you for all you do and have done to serve our country.
May ask off topic question on VPBiden? Is he home now?
I believe he is, because he’s giving a speech on Mandela at the National Cathedral tomorrow.
Thanks
Thanks.
That’s the second person I’ve heard say that rain is “auspicious” (or good luck) in South Africa. Charlaye Hunter Gault mentioned that too.
Ms. Dudette,

Good morning, all.

Yes, that’s her, LDS. She became an accomplished journalist and moved to South Africa years ago. She does correspondence for NBC from there.
Thank you.

This made me so joyous. I’m so proud of our President.
For those too tired to find the translator: “Oh my God, Obama has come! Obama came to us! Obama!”
love this! jeepers, I’m already crying
That one got me the most, so far.
PBO makes me so proud. Everyday!
Saw someone from the Chinese visitors come in cars underneath the stadium a few minutes ago on the SABC feed.
I saw them arrive, too.
saw them too; but they seemed to be just shaking their heads and not saying anything in response (language barrier perhaps)
I am here as well. HZ
Glad to be here with you, HZ. Hoping I can stay awake!
((((((((((((( We Are One))))))))))))) Love you jacquelineoboomer. HZ
Love you back, darlin’.
Good morning HZ. I need your prayers right about now. Thank you for being here.
Thank you all.
Always, anything for you LDS.
Good Morning LDS. (((((((((((((((( We Are One)))))))))))))))). Candles lit for MightyPamela also. HZ
This streaming vid puts me in mind of the few full Gospel “homegoing’s” I’ve attended. It’s in my genes.
I’m with ya, Sailor. Only this is gonna be by far the biggest one EVER!
Let there be no doubt it’s the biggest in my lifetime.
jacqulineoboomer, good morning. Thank you for the translation.
Good morning to you, LDS.
The Presidential limousine stuck in traffic ??!! Good grief, the Secret Service guys must be losing their minds !
Think I saw that reference to the traffic jam much earlier, too, so I’m hoping that’s eased by now … yes, the Secret Service will be glad when he’s at his destination. And so will we!

For some folks, that score is anything but trivial! 🙂
LOL! Awesome crushing! 😀
Super cool.
Dignitary arrivals under the stadium on the CBS/Ustream feed
http://www.ustream.tv/cbsnews
Was that PM Cameron who just arrived and entered the elevator?
Yep.
Thanks.
Agh! Sorry missed that.
Didn’t look like a very formal entry … not sure what the protocol is for this event, with so very many dignitaries there.
Ok, own up: how many gadgets/screens do you have open?
Ha!
SABC reporting on a media briefing from The Elders (Kofi Anan, Jimmy Carter, Mary Robinson, et. al) founded by President Mandela
Al Ajazeera America reporting from the stadium now.
Oh that was just a quick update between shows.

That’s beautiful, linda! Thank you for sharing that!
Lovely, Linda. Thank you!!!
Absolutely beautiful……
I just felt my heart skip a beat.
So much love in SA right now.
Thank you Mandiba.
Between watching all the happy diverse faces in the stadium on the live stream above and the beautiful significance you’ve shared above about the rain falling, I’m already crying and emotional. This is going to be an incredible celebration in Madiba’s honor
Gonna go rest – might wake up to grab the program live – if not it’ll be DVRing all the way through in the morning.
And it is so.
I see somebody with a vuvuzela (one of those horns that were so prevalent during the World Cup tournament held there). 🙂
Reading some of the lovely comments alongside the SABC feed. This one stood out!
“watching it LIVE at work…sorry Boss, Tata comes first. Will work 2moro” 😀 😀 😀
Yes We Can
Interesting times.
I suspect that the stream can’t do TSA-type pat-downs because these are heads-of-state but it is worrying
meant the people on the stream I am watching
Those folk are all thoroughly scrubbed, Linda. Not to worry.

Good evening, morning, TODers!
History in the making!
Kofi Annan and Kissinger. Wow.
de Klerk
Another one who I hope is feeling shame, deep down, is Kissinger. The mastermind of many very ugly episodes in world history, like the coup d’état in Chile.
I doubt he has the capacity for shame but I agree with you.
That man has no soul. Period.
Actress Charlize Theron arriving.
U2’s Bono
Charlize Theron and Bono have arrived.
Raul Castro just arrived.
Yep 🙂
Surprised Teddie Cruz wasn’t walking arm and arm with his pappy’s old comrade 😀 😀
This is just phenomenal. I can’t imagine being there!
I’m DVRing the ceremony on Cspan2, and there will be a repeat at 8:00 pm tonight as well. Have to go to work, and want to be on time.
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff arriving ….
The Elders are arriving!
Folk are rock’n it, big time!!!!
Yes They Are!
Kofi Anan (my Elder crush) !!! 😀
He’s a cool guy, no doubt about it, Dudette!!!
Cool to the nth degree! 🙂
Tony Blair. UGH.
UGH squared!!!
Ugh to the nth degree!
Cameron rolling in ….
Not sure the ceremony can begin in time. Lots of seats still empty. Apparently, there are traffic jams outside…
Lots and lots of rain. Nelson Mandela was indeed a very very very nice person !!
Can you imagine the overflow stadiums, as well!!! Talk about ‘traffic jams’!!!!!
Whenever it starts, it will be the right time.
😉
Looks like it’s about half full?
Something tells me that we may not start on time — as we say we will be “keeping African time”
I love the rain. Cleansing, purifying for Mandiba.
Beautiful!
Archbishop Desmond Tutu!!!!!!! Looooooove him!
My other Elder crush! 😀
Are y’all watching on CBS Ustream … or somewhere else ?
Is that Ban-Ki Moon?
Yep
Morning, all you crazy TODobots! Are we ready for Part 3?
And Parts 4 5 6 ….. infinity 🙂
Morning, Bfr! I’m struggling with the dilemma of which live stream to follow. 😀
No wallowing in sorrow there. It’s Jubilation! Appreciation! Celebration!
Mandela family being welcomed into the stadium! What a ROAR!
France!
Sarkosy & Hollande ….
President Hollande and former President Napoleon (aka Lil’ Nappy) 🙂
Sarkozy and Hollande.
New post.
