    What a beautiful couple!
VC- Glowing is the only word…….simply glowing as FLOTUS is flowing. PBO is proudly showing his Queen.
Snowing in NYC but this is just a dream to come home to…….
    Let it flow….

Yep, LDS, they glow! Both of them. ONE of the things I love about them is that they are such well-grounded, well-rounded adults. They know when and how to play, just like they know when and how to attend to business. I cannot recall another First COUPLE who regularly showed such honest happiness in some of the tasks they had to perform. Frankly I can’t recall any that showed the same naturalness and ease in their WH stint.

I just watched the Saban Forum again. ( 4th time ) and noticed that Justice Breyer was there in the front along the rope line.

    • December 8, 2013 at 7:40 pm

      Linda,

Recall that you were feeling nervous about President Obama’s appearance on Hardball last Thursday, whicn pretty much got overlooked because it happened on the same day as President Mandela’s passing.

Thought PBO’s appearance was outstanding, as usual. He had such grace and ease, and Tweety was the one who looked discomfitted.

Loved this take-away about PBO calling out Tweety for his complaints about the IRS on Morning Joe.

As PBO has proved time and time again, and as BobFR reminds us, #TrustBarack, he’s earned it.

      • 68 yardarm756
        December 8, 2013 at 8:30 pm

Tweety probably missed it. He’s too busy trying to sell his book about the “Gipper” and looking for another Kennedy’s ass to kiss.

What a pair! I loved the expression on the President’s face in the one Chips made it possible for us to enlarge. The enlargement made it possible to REALLY see his expression. His expression said: “”She’s MINE! I got the best, and you guys all know it!” My husband agreed and smiled, said yeah, that’s it.
I’ve never seen a pair in public life so handsome, beautiful and elegant.

How in the world can Cruz prophesy to genuinely respect Nelson Mandela, but at the same time constantly trash President Obama?

This is incongruous with his actions since he’s been a Senator. It isn’t real. This is for show. I don’t trust that man for anything.

        • December 8, 2013 at 8:09 pm

All an effort to look ‘statesmanlike’, DF, ahead of 2016 – it’s a disgusting joke, I would give anything for the Mandela family to tell the bigot he is not welcome.

            • December 8, 2013 at 8:34 pm

Oh, I’d pay anything too, DF! But I suspect they are too gracious to ban anyone from Nelson’s funeral. It’s a disgusting farce, that guy would have hanged Nelson Mandela if he’d had a say at the time.

Will this be Cruz’ first trip abroad? Probably trying to kick start his FP creds (barf!). I seriously doubt the Mandelas will have time to notice Cruz.

            • 87 vcprezofan2
              December 8, 2013 at 8:58 pm

IMO Cruz is going after his photo-op FP moment, much like Paul Ryan staged his community service with the clean pots and pans. Anyone noticed Ryan doing any more ‘volunteer community work’ following that incident?

              • December 9, 2013 at 2:10 am

But with much bigger people there, Cruz will be sitting at at best, the children’s table, surrounded by people who could care less and know even less about him. He’ll get a photo, and that’s about it. In fact, he probably should have stayed home for all the good he’ll get and do.

                • 89 vcprezofan2
                  December 9, 2013 at 11:03 am

‘In fact, he probably should have stayed home for all the good he’ll get and do.’

CarolD, I’d bet a photo is all Ted wants, and I’d also bet he’ll be sure to get a lot of mileage out of it AT TIMES HE/his advisers DEEM APPROPRIATE. I figure the photo(s) (one of which will be sure to feature him close to some mourning Blacks) will have its place of honour in his profile, ready to be trotted out later when Cruz needs to boost his racial, or his FP, creds. Cynical, I know, but I think this trip will be more than worth it to Ted Cruz! The likelihood of Blacks allowing Cruz to hug them (for a photo-op) will be far higher in a mourning South Africa than in Texas/America where he is likely more well-known.

I’ll apologize for my Cruz cynicism IF he makes it into the 2014/2016 campaign arena WITHOUT using any aspect of this ‘paying respect’ trip.

I just pray that some of those young people PBO spoke to in Israel who are ready and committed to change while living in peace with their brothers! they way President Nelson Mandela showed the whole this how this could be done, if you really want peace, would banned together and represent Israel to show this small man just how small he is.

I wish they would even start a donation for those who wish to attend. I bet they would have the money less than an hour.

    Some post Thanksgiving wisdom.

    Girlie Wisdom!

    1. A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills.. she has 14 kids but doesn’t really care.

    2. One of life’s mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.

    3. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

4.. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

    5. The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don’t know what you are doing, someone else does.

    6. The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.

    7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

    8. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.

    9. I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my pants.

    10. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!

    11. Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like…’You know sometimes I forget to eat!’ …..Now I’ve forgotten my address, my mother’s maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!

    12. The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.

    13. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That’s my idea of a perfect day!

    h/t Political Carnival http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-asian-american-voters-20131208,0,6145540.story#axzz2mw5nbYnJ

After years of divided loyalties, Asian American voters have swung heavily behind the Democratic Party and its candidates, posing a serious threat to Republicans whose political base — older, whiter, more conservative — is shrinking by the day. (Although referred to as the Asian American community, “communities” might be a better word to reflect the diversity of groups tracing their roots from the Indian subcontinent to the Far East.)

The problem is every bit as acute as the GOP’s widely chronicled difficulties with Latino voters. Though fewer in number, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population and a rapidly expanding part of the electorate, nationally and in battleground states such as Florida, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia. […]

In 1992, Republican George H.W. Bush won 55% of the Asian American vote against Democrat Bill Clinton. Last year, President Obama won 73% against Republican Mitt Romney, a better showing than the president’s 71% support among Latinos, according to exit polls.

Wonder how that “outreachy thingy” is going? They really think that the American public is stupid. How condescending.

    • 128 pkayden
      December 8, 2013 at 8:28 pm

Everyone can see the bigotry of the T-Bagger controlled GOP. House Republican’s refusal to even consider immigration reform is indicative of how they feel about minorities. It should bite them in their butts in 2014 and 2016.

If the media supported the democrats – even 50% of the time – they would win in a massive landslide. How can anyone vote for a party that supports starvation and is against health care – weirdest political party of my lifetime – but half the population never hears about it.

    someone close to Israel’s PM Netanyahu needs to advise him to reconsider his decision to skip Pres. Mandela’s funeral;

his current excuse is flimsy like : ‘the dog ate my homework” and no one will buy it!

PM Netanyahu could have chosen to attend at least one event and worked with Prez Zuma to reschedule around Iran Prez

I hope he recognizes that his words and deeds are serving to create a sense of isolation for Israel and the people who elected him to serve.

think about it, in the span of 1 month, he will have noticeably attacked PBO and disrespected the memory of Prez. Mandela (probably because he can’t be seen near Iran Prez) – not a good thing and ordinary people notice these things.

Be gentle with links to that place Nena, there was a whole lotta PBO-hating going on there last time I looked – which was, admittedly, a long time ago.

Hey Chips, it really is a site dedicated to FLOTUS and her fashions. However, the blog owner feels that all comments should be posted in the name of true fashion critiques. However, trolls come with their veiled fashion critiques and bash FLOTUS and POTUS. That’s where my blogging life began and used to be on their everyday fighting against those trolls. I think I actually came upon your site on there. When one of my comments was deleted because I went in on a troll, I decided it was useless to comment on the haters there. I still visit every blue moon, but I won’t comment because I won’t tolerate the foolishness.

Having grown up on an ice rink in Minnesota this is an art that is rarely seen on the ice anymore. Torville and Dean back when ice dancing in the Olympics really was ICE DANCING. From a Smartypants post today and then my favorite Torville and Dean performing the Paso Doble.

Not kidding, I have watched all of these probably 50 times, know their entire life history, etc. Such a classy skating couple.

One of my favorite Olympic events. Torville and Dean are LEGENDARY!
I still get goosebumps seeing them again after all these years. Their “Bolero” is simply the greatest ice dancing routine EVER!

I am catching up and totally enjoying all of it, Chips.

Welcome home, Yardarm. Missed you so much. I have some names for you for the naughty mats. Lots of them.

Our First Lady is just beautiful in all ways. Her dress is elegant and she is wearing it as only Mrs. Michelle Obama, our First Lady can wear it. POB knows it as well. Look at that smile on his fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee face. Love our First Couple.HZ
