Chat Away – In Search of Lost Time

The 20th Century produced two great novels, by which all other novels are judged: Marcel Proust’s “In Search of Lost Time” and James Joyce’s “Ulysses”. For your evening enjoyment, some selections from Proust’s gargantuan work. (And a bit of funny at the end.)

    In summary ….

… they’ll never escape that legacy – a legacy of greed, hate and willful disregard for the lives and quality of life of millions of Americans.

Hey Chips, Billy sent TOD this text msg just for you:

“Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains to what began as a passionate start
And they may not want it to end
But it’s really just a question of when

I’ve lived long enough to have learned
The closer you get to the fire the more you get burned
But that won’t happen to us
Cause it’s really just a matter of trust”

      —Love from Billy–

I saw that today and I swear, I thought about you. I almost brought it here, but on a second thought, I chickened out.

Then I was going to post that Prince Rogers Nelson would be the Headliner for the Essence Festival in July 2014…….Love Prince, never been to NOLA……but know that some TODers might like this information. Then I forgot and lost track. Now I don’t have the link anymore.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Next year’s Essence Festival is getting a dose of music royalty from Prince.

The “Purple Rain” singer-songwriter is headlining the 20th annual festival, a celebration of black music and culture being held July 3-6 in New Orleans.

Prince, who performed at Essence in 2004, also headlined this year’s South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. His newest single, “Screwdriver,” debuted earlier this year. Still, Prince is best known for chart-topping hits like “1999,” ”Cool” and “Purple Rain.”

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Edward-Snowden-sharpened-his-hacking-skills-in-Delhi/articleshow/26811526.cms

The hacker who shook the US intelligence machinery and had world leaders railing against Washington for spying on them picked up crucial skills in India. Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency contractor-turned-whistleblower, spent a week in New Delhi training in core Java programming and advanced ethical hacking. It’s this training that got him certified as an EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA).

Now hiding in Russia as a fugitive from US law and charged with espionage for leaking documents related to the US surveillance, Snowden trained at offshore IT training and certification provider Koenig Solutions in Moti Nagar, New Delhi in 2010. He flew into India on September 3 from Japan and left for the US on September 9.

The Registration of Foreigners Rule 1939 Form C Hotel Arrival report, a copy of which is with TOI, shows Snowden checked into Koenig Inn run by the institute in Karol Bagh at 2.30pm on September 3. “He paid over $2,000 towards his training fee, lodging and boarding,” said Rohit Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Koenig Solutions. Koenig is an authorized training partner for certification programmes from companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, EC-Council, Citrix and VMware. It has trained over 20,000 foreign IT professionals across five centres in the country and one in Dubai.

Update from Cover Oregon: As you know I have been active in the effort here in Oregon to enroll people in the #ACA. The Cover Oregon website has been operational except for enrollment so we’re working with paper here which takes longer. Cover Oregon reports they have a 57,000 completed applications, of those there are now 3500 confirmed enrollments. All of the 57K apps will be processed by Dec. 15. From the Health Care Enrollment Fairs I participated in there were 3000 apps. Separately the Oregon Health Authority reports enrollment of 78,251 persons in the Oregon Health Plan or the Expanded Medicaid provision of the ACA.
