I don’t know WHY I’m surprised…..holy shit. Just holy shit. Any questions????

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/12/01/former-romney-adviser-minimum-wage-hike-denies-opportunity-for-bottom-rung-of-the-economic-ladder/

CNN contributor Kevin Madden, a former advisor and spokesperson for Mitt Romney (R), said on Sunday that Congress should not raise the minimum wage because it would deny people the “opportunity to grab that bottom rung of the economic ladder.”

TeaNN adds yet another privileged ass to its roster. I need to throw up now.

When the bottom rung of the ladder is underwater, you can’t pull yourself up so much as just have a nice place to hang onto while you drown.

        It’s what they’re hoping for.

When will the Country wake up?
CNN and the entire GOP is eager to deprive most of us of the food, work and housing we need.
What will it take for an appropriate push-back to occur?
          Honest question, not rhetorical.

    • December 1, 2013 at 7:05 pm

      Speechless.

      Absolutely speechless.

GOP have been spewing despicable nonsense for years now (race baiting, birtherism, war on women and LBGT, etc.) but this takes the cake.

Denying people the “opportunity to grab that bottom rung of the economic ladder” makes no sense whatsoever, unless the commenter that DF posted is correct — that drowning is what the GOP wish for.

How can the MSM stand by and let this pass while focusing their echo-chamber narrative on how “doomed” Obama is?

This is the most idiotic, heartless, plutocratic statement yet.

This is not what makes America a great country.

Agreed with all you said here, Arapaho. It just takes my breath away…I have never seen such hateful, selfish people in my life. He told the truth and it astounds me….and I don’t mean that in a good way. America needs to see this. Hear this. And realize that the Republicans are talking about THEM. America, unless you’re wealthy as all get out and can add significantly to their campaign coffers….they’re just not into you!!! Rather you fuck off and die.

As the ACA gets better GOP desperation increases. Hard for me to see a good ending for them as a result of their hideous behavior.

The President and his legacy, whatever they are screeching about today, that will all work out just fine.

    The demands …

How Yanukovich responds in the next several hours ….

… is anyone’s guess …. we all must hope that he follows a path similar to what President and General Wojciech Jaruzelski, along with his interior minister General Czeslaw Kiszczak, did in Poland in 1989 – negotiate their exit from power – peacefully.

Putin went way too far …. let us hope he doesn’t keep pushing or a lot of folk are going to die.

Not related to anything here but I read that Timothy Dolan was on MTP today.
Cardinal Dolan has always reminded me of Henry the Eighth. Without the multiple wives, obviously.

My husband just changed the channel from NBC News because I started swearing at the TV. They are STILL chicken littleing the ACA. Unbelievable.

      December 1, 2013 at 6:59 pm

ABC News was grudging, still not giving the up to date figures….then used a segment from the President’s interview with Babawawa out of context.
We listened to NBC last night, and I emailed them as soon as the broadcast was over. I know my one won’t change them, and I know they are paid to say certain things, but I still think we should bombard them with mail.
Then our local ABC affiliate had Rep. Tom Cole on saying that this “disastrous” website will be the President’s legacy. That’s stupid…..no one knows what a president’s legacy will be, and it won’t be the website, it will be the ACA. These people conflate the two all the time.
Well, I wish they’d talk about GWB’s legacy: Untold numbers dead, war on a lie, torture encouraged…..
I’m off to write our local anchor right now.

Kristen Welker, who is on my last nerve, as is the rest of the NBC “news” team, just gave the most negatively slanted, sarcastic report on the improved health care site/PBO. It was nasty. It was as if she was reporting on America’s greatest enemy. All these news reports now have no resemblance to any actual facts or truth—–one wonders what in the world has happened to formerly respected news organizations. Everything is reported in the most negative way possible, to the point of dishonesty.

      December 1, 2013 at 7:23 pm

I CAN’T STAND Kristen Welker!!! She is Chuck Todd’s twin.
I have a question for consideration….almost hate to ask, but the video at the top brought it to mind.
The President was really sharp at that dinner last spring. We here loved it! However, does anyone else feel that the press has been particularly mean since that dinner…..getting back at the president?
I feel so. Seems to me this negativity has increased, really amped up. They are getting back at him…..

        December 1, 2013 at 7:38 pm

Who knows. They’re pissy and nasty because they don’t get invited for dinner with the family, don’t get a ride in the Beast, when PBO pokes them in the eyes with both damn fingers because they can’t manage to do their jobs informing the people in an unbiased way. I never saw a bunch of spoiled, arrogant brats quite like the “journos” we have now. Opinion from them passes as gospel and is blessed from the skybox of hate/ lie purveyors that are the media mogals that own them and pay their salaries. Corporate whores that collect their fat paychecks to lie to the American people. I can’t answer that question, carolyn…..I just can’t remember back far enough when news was factually reported. Walter Cronkite is rolling in his grave.

  14. December 1, 2013 at 7:30 pm

Very depressing attacks by the media reported here by carolyn, alice, dotster, etc.

In 2010, news media were still in the business of reporting facts. Now, not so much. Check this out:

One of the links in this article provides (more) links to articles written in 2010 by the NYTimes and Washington Post reporting on what a disaster employer-offered medical insurance had become. (My system is acting up now, if I can I will post the link I’m referring to — having a hard time opening more than one Window now).

Of course the MSM offers NO context of the 10-year tread of what employer-based insurance had become before ACA, but gleefully jump on the bandwagon to bash a website (!!!)

And the MSM willfully ignores the millions who became uninsured under the Bush II Adm (link posted by UTA — thank you) on this morning’s R&S thread.

Because of the various comments above, I decided I just had to ask Pope Francis a direct question:

What we have witnessed, beyond the hate they have for our President (yes, because he’s black), is the power of avarice – corporate and private Americans – to corrupt. That any American is hungry, without shelter and health care, at this moment in the 21st Century, is the single gravest threat to our National Security and the single most glaring indictment of our profound failure as a society.

    We Will Change That.

    Yes WE Can

Thank you Bobfr & Desertflower (The TOD Village was with me in Spirit!!!)……… I may never recover from this game, but I don’t care. The most unbelievable sporting event I have ever witnessed!

Spirit……..happens to be the name of our Eagle that flies around the stadium before landing on the 50 yard line at kickoff.

        • December 1, 2013 at 9:22 pm

Now that is AMAZING!! Never seen anything like it, LP.

As overjoyed I am for you, please know that I’d never have even known the game was being played if you hadn’t posted about it. I’m not a ‘sports fan’ … love athletics but ages ago had to face the reality that whatever ‘spare time’ I had I’d rather be doing sports than watching + haven’t watched TV/cable in decades. So, the replay of that amazing field goal return and this video you just shared are much appreciated – a few minutes of really cool stuff!! Thank you!!

          • December 2, 2013 at 8:18 pm

My pleasure…..I’m glad you were able to enjoy that compilation vicariously through me, Bob. It was something else. I have had so many foot surgeries of late that I’ve been scared to “get back on the field,” but going to this game is something I will never forget!
