I know, that’s why I keep coming back. Haven’t posted much the last couple of days, I can’t eve keep up with you tyrants. I was sick on Thanksgiving so I kind of lazed around yesterday and did only what I had to. Feel much better this morning, at least I feel I got more than and hours sleep at a snatch.

Ah Roberta, sorry to hear you weren’t well, but good to hear you’re feeling better – have a relaxing weekend, get yourself 100% well!

Congrats on your new GGrand baby. Mine are way too young for kids yet. I hope I am aground for the great grand kids when they come.

Great news! And good the for Irish. This is the one area where I’ve been disappointed in the pope since he took the possibility of women in the priesthood off the table. It’s long, long, long past time when the Catholic church needs to put this on the table. There is no earthly, spiritual, or Biblical reason why this can’t happen. It’s just plain old prejudice.

Morning Chips and all. The temperature is 16 degrees this morning and I’m steeling myself for a day that includes a lot of outside errands. I keep thinking about the people in the Fasting tent on the mall and wondering if they’re warm enough in that tent, especially at night when the DC mall can be very frigid. The people I would most like to visit them are the moral cowards Boehner, Cantor and Ryan. I know they’re heartless asses, but they need to confront the reality of what they do, rather than cocoon themselves in their tea party bubble. The House has the votes, according to Pelosi. Boehner could end this the minute the House reconvenes, although I hate to think of all the remaining days of hunger that means for the fasters. I don’t want this to end with the group being carried out of the tent on stretchers because they’re too weak to carry on. One man–one pitiful, incompetent man who fell into the role of speaker–stands in the way of health and progress for millions. It makes me want to scream.

    • November 30, 2013 at 8:32 am

Good morning Jackie! I echo everything you said, to see the President and First Lady visit those people on the mall yesterday and show solidarity with them was incredibly powerful and moving. As if proof were needed they are on the people’s side, as opposed to snakes like Boehner, Cantor and Co.

    • November 30, 2013 at 8:40 am

I so agree with you wholeheartedly. I hope there are doctors available to those in the tent to attend to them as this fast goes on and on. But I am fiercely proud of all those who have connected with them, most importantly VP, POTUS & FLOTUS.

Did anyone watch the interview with Bab’s last night? I watched it on line today. She is a piece of work. She asked some stupid questions, I can imagine what the out takes were. POTUS & FLOTUS were were great, I only had one frown, when FLOTUS kept interrupting the President and talking over him. It was almost like she was nervous, but didn’;t look it. Any comments on that? Just my take.

    • November 30, 2013 at 9:22 am

…FLOTUS kept interrupting the President and talking over him…”

I noticed that too, Roberta. At one point, I think POTUS was getting ready to say something about how the MSM’s messaging, but FLOTUS cut him off with her response to BW’s question. I wish he had been able to complete that thought.

Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t notice FLOTUS constantly interrupting POTUS. Maybe I will have to go back and watch that again.

GM TOD! Happy Saturday to all.

Oh how I love his brain (and other “parts” of him as well) 😉

Well I had family stop by last evening for the day-after leftovers and completely missed the BW interview. After reading the comments about it on the previous threads I’d say my family did me a BIG favor.

And now I need to do a little Saturday morning vent on our media….

I feel myself pushing further and further away from anything this media does or says about PBO. They completely disgust me. I’m tired of talking about it so now I want to replace my anger with activism.

To put it simply this is the medias MO. Take a story and spin it negatively to death. Pound away at the negativity and then take a poll to discover to their fake surprise that PBO’s approval numbers have dropped. NO President has ever been subjected to this type of negative media scrutiny. NO PRESIDENT!

    So what do we do….hmmmmmmm

There are so many brilliant people in my timeline and here at TOD. What do you all think about a virtual online townhall to discuss how to fight the media and sell PBO’s agenda to the Nation? I know that some people are already doing this but I’m thinking about a really huge coordinated effort to push back and sell. We push and support each others tweets or comments with a real concentrated effort.

If Chips & UT and the other BT’s don’t mind we could set aside a thread one evening to host a real discussion (sort of an online town hall) about how to sell the Obama agenda and circumvent the traditional media. Zizi talked about us putting together a First Draft of the Obama years in the previous thread. This would be a great topic to discuss in coordination with what do to about our media.

Think about what Media Matters did with that Lara Logan BENGHAZI story. Although the media rarely acknowledges them I watched in my timeline for days how they constantly pushed back with facts about that story. Long after it faded in the headlines, MMFA was still at it calling out 60 Minutes for that story. Eventually the Washington Post and NY Times started questioning the story with some of the same things that MMFA had been talking about for weeks. Then CBS news had to respond and well the rest is history. We have to be the truth-tellers for this President. I have nothing against people watching cable tv. I’ve come to understand that if we just tune them out then they are left to their own devices. But I also believe that we can’t just sit and watch cable, morning shows and the evening news and talk about how badly they are reporting on a story. We must hold them accountable for their reporting by whatever means necessary.

They report stories the way they do because they don’t feel there will be any real consequences. Why do we have to be subjected to so many Republicans to report on a story in the era of Obama? PBO’s a friggin Democrat. Why does the public have to have more of a Republican spin on things? Why aren’t more Dems versed on matters and demanding to have air time on matters of importance? Well the answer is because the media thrives off controversy. Even if they bring a Dem on he’ll sit there and partially agree with the Republican version ala Robert Gibbs. Honestly I just don’t think that Dems are very good at media presence which is why PBO ends up doing all the heavy lifting on his own.

Just look at how the media is covering the ACA roll-out. It’s all about how AWEFUL a website performed in the first few weeks. When the government shutdown was going on I tuned into cable and the news because I wanted to see what was happening. Constantly cable talked about how the Republicans were fools to have shutdown the government while the ObamaCare roll-out was taking place because there was a “real story” to be told about how bad the website was performing and that the R’s would be winning the argument about ObamaCare if they hadn’t foolishly took the government down. Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow rolled in their graves at that reporting. Our media actually telegraphed to the Republicans how to fight this administration on ObamaCare. Then the President sat down with Chuck Todd and I was completely through at this point.

It used to be that all we had to do was vote and get others to go out and vote but the media has changed that dynamic. Our work is never done. We have to remain in perpetual campaign mode. It’s not enough to admire this great man from afar we have to be right in the thick of things to bring this to its full measure of success.

p.s. Please let me know what you all think about the virtual town hall.

    End of rant….

    Have a great O’Day Eveyone

donna – fabulous idea. For awhile I was really tweeting back to the networks but sometimes I felt like I was by myself. And then when I saw my own local news call ACA a “Disaster” that’s when I just turned off the TV. But a coordinated effort I could get behind. Maybe if we tweeted about it some OFA folks would pick up on it too and they could join – take it back to their respective groups. You could really start something. So name the night. I’m here.

Good Morning donna – and thank you so much for taking the time to so effectively express what many of us have been thinking for months and years, but simply couldn’t quite say in this way. Your comment should be FRONT-PAGED!!!!! Thank you for suggesting a plan of action (virtual town hall), which I think is an EXCELLENT idea and CAN work, and I would be willing to be an active participant if we decide to go through with it.

I too have been finding myself increasingly disgusted, sometimes to the point of borderline rage, at the blatant anti-Obama distortions in the media’s reporting, from the stories they choose to report, to the glaring omission of facts, to the hyperfocus on GOP talking points. It has come to the point that I am second-guessing or dismissing damn near 99% of everything I read or hear from the MSM – that is not a good place to be as a citizen. The “free press” has morphed into some kind of warped mega-Propaganda/reality show machine and speaks to the tweet the meta posted above. And this is not just with TV, but also with print media, internet sites, even search engines such as Google have been infiltrated with right-wing bias. We the people need to rise up otherwise the media will have a significant proportion of the country living no better than we did in the 1940s…

HF. I know. Before I finally decided to stop watching the news my husband would wince because I’d start streaming cuss words at the TV that I didn’t even know I knew. I’m sick of the MSM and how they lie about PBO and #ACA. And just about anything else you’d care to mention.

Everyone is doing well Rikyrah. Thanks for asking. My daughter in law is still carrying those baby girls so the more time the buns stay in the oven the better. She is at 32 weeks and we’re told each baby girl is over 4lbs now and that their lungs are getting stronger by the day. The power of today’s technology to know all these things before delivery is amazing to me. Crossing our fingers that they will hold out for a few more weeks although her team of doctors says they will probably be here within days not weeks. Looks as if we are in for an early Christmas present. 🙂

        • November 30, 2013 at 10:52 am

WOW! Donna, they will be wonderful, strong, beautiful babies. My youngest brother had twins that were born at just about 8 months. They each weighed less than two pounds. They were in intensive care for quite a while but they are now gorgeous, perfectly healthy young men. SO, I’m wishing you and your family the very, very best and, OMG, your life will be even more incredibly blessed.

    • November 30, 2013 at 10:53 am

I’M IN. Love your idea and I do think we need to better organize and build our response to the hyper-active full-blown MSM assault on our POTUS. I hope Chips agrees with the idea of a town hall.
