Italy Senate Expels 3-Time Ex-Premier Berlusconi
    by The Associated

ROME (AP) — The Italian Senate on Wednesday expelled three-time ex-Premier Silvio Berlusconi from Parliament over his tax fraud conviction, ending, for now, his two-decade legislative run but not his political career.

[Yes indeedy!! 🙂 Just a sec, I’m looking for my violin.]:

Twenty years ago, half the 12 largest U.S. municipalities had a Republican mayor. When Bill de Blasio takes office in New York on Jan. 1, none will.

    Happy Thanksgiving Eve, y’all!

Funny how the Presidential pardon o’ the turkeys is covered nationwide, isn’t it? It’s all over the TV, too, because we Americans sure love to see the stuff that makes us feel good. (I am just as guilty because I personally would watch if President Obama just walked outside of the White House for three minutes to look up at the sky – that’s my idea of lovely!)

      November 27, 2013 at 1:34 pm

By the way, my comment was a dig at the media for not covering some of the more important things the President does, as well!

Pres. Obama is really enjoying himself – and the girls are putting up with it all, quite graciously (as usual)!

Chips, BTW, did you see those guys and gals on the previous post who were begging for a Thanksgiving ‘sticky’ tomorrow? I guess all that’s left to do, IF THEY GET ONE, is to remind them to ‘keep it clean’ as a thanks giving post WITHOUT ANY MOANS AND GROANS AND ‘DID YOU SEE THIS/’ FROM THE non-thankful GOPs/media.

      November 27, 2013 at 1:29 pm

Hey VC, none of here beg. We respectfully request of our wonderful hostess, not beg nor demand.

Anyway, good to see you and congrats on first.

        November 27, 2013 at 1:31 pm

Oh, and yes, also on my list are all the wonderful folks here at TODville, and that does include you, front and center.

Apologies, Mr. Japa – poor word choice indeed. I will respectfully edit my comment to the Lady Mayor.

Yo Chips! Did you see those guys and gals on the previous post who were REQUESTING a Thanksgiving ‘sticky’ tomorrow? One mentioned something about a ‘wonderful hostess’, but I wasn’t sure who that was.

        Hey VC!!!!

I will be thinking about and expressing sentiment for the smoked turkey legs that I will be eating tomorrow.

          November 27, 2013 at 1:53 pm

😯 You actually smoke them, before actually eating them!!! 😉 To each his/her own.

In case I miss you tomorrow, GGail – Have yourself a great Thanksgiving celebration! Are you going ‘south’ or are you hosting?

I’m here and I’ll be semi-hosting. My daughter is here from her Residency and is “passing thru Hotel GGail” on her way to hang with friends. I’m the spot to eat, shower, throw clothes/change clothes, run out the door and occasionally catch some sleep. But it’s nice to have her home….for a minute 🙂

O, forgot to say out late with your nephew last night as he recorded his ‘debut’ piano CD (or was it DVD?). It’s actually part of the packet for a course he’s taking – you know the one where he has to work on a biography with professional pics etc, etc. If you ask me it’s quite an expensive course given that all these frills have to be done ‘professionally’, but I suppose he’s at least getting the knowledge, and practice, of ways to market himself.

                VC, this is soooooo exciting!!!
I’ll be looking for my snippet when it’s ready.
I must send him a note of support. He laughs at how I get excited over these progressive steps. This is the CD & Bio that he will be able to send out. I’m going to encourage him to send one to our new Conductor friend 🙂

Thank you for the 411 VC!

My concern is that I think he does a better job as a clarinettist than as a pianist, yet he chose to do only piano for the CD. Of course, he would have needed to have an accompanist if he had chosen to include that, but ….

    [Juanita Jean! 😉 ]:

Houston Mayor Annise Parker was re-elected to her third term last month with a landslide. She got like 80% of the vote because she’s a damn good mayor. There were, like maybe, six candidates and there wasn’t even a second place. Honey, she was so hot that she glowed in the dark for three days after the election.

Last week she announced that the City of Houston would start giving employee spousal benefits to same-gender couples who were married outside of Texas.

Holy crap, with the way Republicans reacted you’d think the only reason she did it was to distract from the computer problems of Obamacare. Jared Woodfill, the chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, pounded his spoon on his high chair tray and screeched that the Mayor has “abused her office.” Woodfill then proceeds to abuse her.

    You gotta read this.

I just love the way Juanita Jean uses her language:

“Jared Woodfill, the chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, pounded his spoon on his high chair tray …”

“Never mind her overwhelming victory showing that she has more support than a Cross Your Heart Bra.”

I agree, Gazelle. JuanitaJ has a wicked sense of humour! I enjoy the way she approaches things, even while chipping away at the Texas political stupidity (they seem to have so much of it).

What’s That Again About the So-Called IRS Scandal?

    BY Bob Cesca

This is what happens when you make a big deal over nothing. Now it’s going to be more difficult for these obviously political groups to attain tax-exempt status. It’s similar to how Edward Snowden has made it more — not less — difficult for future leakers.

[Uh-huh. Isn’t Fager a little late in sending out CYA emails? ]:

Beyond Ms. Logan, who has been a rising star at CBS News, the review could have implications for the leadership of Jeffrey Fager, the chairman of CBS News, who is also the executive producer of “60 Minutes.” Mr. Fager sent an email to the staff on Tuesday, saying: “As executive producer, I am responsible for what gets on the air. I pride myself in catching almost everything, but this deception got through and it shouldn’t have.”

He added: “We are making adjustments at ’60 Minutes’ to reduce the chances of it happening again.”

I can see the Fox News coverage of this already, “Benghazi claims yet another victim.” […..]

Sad and Horrific. This happened in PA. No national attention.
There was on in TN/MS 2-3 yrs ago where this lawmaker killed the Mistress. Now one drugged and raped? Only resigned after he was caught. The National media looks the other way. A Dem would be the News 24/7

NORRISTOWN, Pa. – November 26, 2013 (WPVI) — The former chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee is in police custody, charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a female employee.

Robert Kerns is charged with indecent assault of a person unconscious, indecent assault of a person substantially impaired, and other offenses.

The alleged incident happened on October 25th. The victim was an employee at Kerns’ private law practice at the time.

Prosecutors say Kerns met with the victim and tricked her, giving her wine laced with the sleeping medication Ambien. They say he then sexually assaulted her both in his car and at her home after she passed out.
Court documents say the assaults were violent and that the victim suffered severe injuries as a result.

Although I find it strange that she didn’t call out the headline until well AFTER she received a great amount of negative feedback on the article. I would think that the author has some knowledge about how their article appears in print (including the headlines) before it’s actually published!

    History of Turkey Pardon:
Most presidents have had turkeys formally given to them, but it was not until the first President George Bush officially used the word “pardon” during the ceremony in 1989 that the custom formally began……Other presidents had plenty of photo ops with their birds – Ronald Reagan used Thanksgiving in 1987 to make a joke about pardoning a turkey in the midst of the Iran-contra affair – but President George Bush was the first to grant an official stay of execution, in his first year in office.

    CNN is a joke.

Today they are tracking three of their ” reporters” racing to get to DC from NYC.

Maybe they want to “throw Momma off” one of them.

Because of the winter storm, I heard The Weather Channel mention even President Obama was having trouble “landing in D.C. and had to land at Andrews.” Go figure ~ I thought AF1 always landed at Andrews.

Wasn’t able to reply to you directly last night, but did you see the info that LP provided in his tweets re: Senate and greater Iran sanctions?

Beware that the MSM theme of moment is that recalcitrant Dems are now the obstacle impeding Iran nuclear deal. This includes @Maddow.

She mentioned this on Monday and I guess yesterday too, judging by your comment. It’s also the wire services headlines now.

If the Senate does increase sanctions against Iran when they return on Dec 9 the greater sanctions would not take effect until after the 6 month interim agreement expires. This is consistent with what our President said on Saturday — if Iran fails to keep their end of the bargain they will pay the consequences.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain (or in this case the MSM, including emoprogs like @Maddow who thrive on causing trouble for Dems instead of supporting them [unless its more fun to make fun of the GOP instead]).

    • 98 RH
      November 27, 2013 at 4:44 pm

No, they definitely haven’t — they have been retaliating against workers who speak out / organize and those “we are such a great place to work” commercials are complete PR Company fabrications — actually featuring actors and even their Social Media Strategy director as supposed “associates”. I know it’s hard in some communities, but if you can boycott Walmart, please do.

      • 99 Obama Grandmama
        November 27, 2013 at 9:25 pm

I have been personally boycotting Walmart for about eight years now since I found out they treat their employees terribly. I lived in Juneau, Alaska prior to that with no Walmart. I try to convince family but making only partial success for my efforts. For some reason people like to buy crap cheaply.
Strangely, I received a phone call from a representative of Walmart on my cell phone that I do not give the number out to anyone except for my kids and family. They started out with words like how they want to reward their supporters with blah, blah, blah. I stopped them with “I am not a Walmart supporter and where did you get this phone number since I do not give it out?…” I also said to take me off their list as it is the last place I would ever go to get anything. The guy wasted no time in getting off the phone.
I love shopping at employee owned BiMart. Just bought some furniture from Ohio that is made in the USA with free shipping. My brother put it together for me as my Xmas gift from him. I certainly am liking that gift.
