    Obama Crushes the Neocons
    By Michael Tomasky

[…..] And perhaps most important of all in psychic terms to the neocons, there is contemplation of the hideous reality that Obama and the path of negotiation just might work. This is the thing the neocons can’t come to terms with at all. If Obama succeeds here, their entire worldview is discredited. Check that; even more discredited. […..[

How are you coping with the nasty tweets from yesterday?

I’m trying to cope with something from this morning. First thing I saw when I signed on. . .

All’s perfect Carol, thank you!! What happened this morning, are you okay?

      • November 25, 2013 at 1:58 pm

I got twitter bombed, that’s what I call it around good people. It came out of the blue on a tweet I posted in Campaigning for Pres. Obama’s re-election in April. Four guys I’ve never seen in my twitter line. They hate the President and said stupid stuff. I should just report and block, but a part of me what’s to get revenge. The four have over 2,000 followers for whatever that’s worth. I just get sad when they say such stupid things about the president.
As far as you know does Gen. McCrystal still trust President Obama? If you look at my twitter line I rarely get anything like this and it’s all current. I’m wondering if this isn’t a new tactic the RWNJ are taking on. Thanks for asking.

    On Critics

    By Booman Tribune

I do think, however, that Netanyahu’s Agreement Anxiety Disorder is “is so intense it should disqualify him from public office,” and that “the poor man is not thinking clearly.” He’s going beyond playing the bad cop to Obama’s good cop. He’s creating ill-will toward his country from millions of people who support the party preferred by American Jews. There are twelve Jewish senators, none of whom are Republicans. Twenty-one out of twenty-two Jewish members of the House are Democrats. And Netanyahu is accusing their president of being some kind of disloyal idiot. This is not a way to maintain strong American support for Israel. It’s just not. Maybe some of our Jewish readers can chime in here and tell me I’m off base, but my strong impression is that most American Jews are pretty angry with how Netanyahu is behaving.

LL, did you see this about the MP show being sold out?

Monty Python reunion show sells out in 43 seconds

Tickets for the Monty Python reunion performance went on sale on Monday for as little as £32 ($51), sold out in 43 seconds and promptly resurfaced on the auction site eBay for £750 ($1212). As one of Eric Idle’s characters says in the movie, “The Life of Brian:” “We’re supposed to haggle!”
After tickets for the show at London’s O2 Arena on July 1 sold out, the PR agency for the event announced more shows on July 2-5. The performance will be the five surviving stars’ first show on stage together since appearing at the Hollywood Bowl in September 1980.
Tickets are priced from £32 to £106 ($171) including booking fees, with full details announced on the troupe’s website montyphythonlive.com. Hours after they went on sale, many tickets were on sale on eBay.
Idle tweeted: “This pretty much took us by surprise, so we are talking about adding more shows.”

    Neocons let loose

    By Steve Benen

But what continues to impress is the fact that neoconservatives continue to pretend they have credibility – and much of the political world just plays along. The New York Times report had a lengthy item on the preliminary deal with Iran today, which quoted some “experts.” The next paragraph quoted … wait for it … Elliott Abrams.

This keeps happening. Every time the Obama White House advances U.S. interests through diplomacy, the neocons howl, and their opinions are not immediately subjected to ridicule.

A few questions keep coming to mind: (1) weren’t you guys cheerleaders for the war in Iraq? (2) Don’t you guys still look back at that catastrophe as a good idea? and (3) Isn’t it about time you guys enjoyed a little quiet time?

    • 82 Nena20409
      November 25, 2013 at 2:11 pm

Doc Bobfr, this was exactly what SoS Kerrey said in Geneva

To those like Amir, who claim that the Geneva deal got more from Iran that it’s ever offered in the past, it’s important to remember that Pres. Khatami offered virtually the same deal in 2005. Of course, Iran’s nuclear program was far less developed then, and it didn’t have some of the advanced facilities it now has. But as former Iranian negotiator Hosseein Mousavian argued so cogently in the Financial Times, the west could’ve gotten the same deal from Khatami. That deal might’ve suspended the Iranian nuclear program in the state it was then. In that case, there might not even be a Fordo or Arak to worry about now. There would certainly be far fewer centrifuges and far less highly enriched uranium.

The Media in their 24/7 endless bashing Never give context with any content of how this P5+1 deal became a 6month reality.

      Thanks for this story.

      • November 25, 2013 at 2:20 pm

You’re welcome, Nena. And, it is crucial context as our outstanding Sec Kerry knows far better than most.

      • November 25, 2013 at 2:29 pm

        From Juan Cole:

“The irony is that in early 2003, the reformist Iranian government of then-President Mohammad Khatami had sent over to the US a wide-ranging proposal for peace. After all, Baathist Iraq was Iran’s deadliest enemy. It had invaded Iran in 1980 and fought an 8-year aggressive war in hopes of taking Iranian territory and stealing its oil resources. Now the US was about to overthrow Iran’s nemesis. Wouldn’t it make sense for Washington and Tehran to ally? Khatami put everything on the table, even an end to hostilities with Israel.

The Neoconservatives threw the Iranian proposal in the trash heap and mobilized to make sure there was no rapprochement with Iran. David Frum, Bush’s speech-writer, consulted with eminence grise Richard Perle (then on a Pentagon oversight board) and Irv Lewis “Scooter” Libby (vice presidential felon Richard Bruce Cheney’s chief of staff), and they had already inserted into Bush’s 2002 State of the Union speech the phrase the “axis of evil,” grouping Iran with Iraq and North Korea. Iran had had sympathy demonstrations for the US after 9/11, and, being a Shiite power, feared and hated al-Qaeda (Sunni extremists) as much as Washington did. But the Neoconservatives did not want a US-Iran alliance against al-Qaeda or against Saddam Hussein. Being diplomatic serial killers, they saw Iran rather as their next victim.

All through the Cheney-Bush administration, repeated leaks from the Pentagon to Sy Hersh and other investigative journalists warned that machinations were afoot to draw the US into a war against Iran, as an outgrowth of the illegal and aggressive attack on and occupation of Iraq. The Neocons plotted against the lives of our children until their last day in office, in January of 2009.

After seeing what Bush did to Iraq, Tehran ramped up its nuclear enrichment program, in hopes of making the point that if the US looked like it might try to invade (which it often looked like), Iran might go for broke and come up with a small nuclear device. In 2003 when Khatami made the peace proposal, Iran had just declared a small set of nuclear experiments. As of 2006, it began serious nuclear enrichment activities, though UN inspectors have never found evidence of a nuclear weapons program. As Secretary of State John Kerry pointed out Saturday night, if the Bush administration had accepted iran’s 2003 proposal, the rancor, saber-rattling, sanctions and the rapid advances in Iran’s nuclear program could have been avoided.”

    Are you Listening Rand Paul?

In a piece entitled, “Confessions of a Right-Wing Shock Jock,” Hunter wrote that while Paul knew of his persona as the Southern Avenger, the Senator did not know of his previous statements, including toasting to John Wilkes Booth, calling for Spike Lee to be whipped, and more:

Sen. Paul had known that I used to wear a Confederate wrestling mask as part of an old radio shtick, and I still sometimes used the Southern Avenger moniker—it was my Twitter handle and appeared on my Facebook page. But he hadn’t known about the many stupid and offensive things I’d said.
[…] It was painful to revisit because it sounds awful to me today, so I could only imagine what it sounded like to African-Americans in 2000. I recall making equally insensitive comments about illegal immigrants and Muslims. Whenever I put on that wrestling mask, I took on a persona that was intentionally outrageous and provocative. I said many terrible things. I disavow them.
But let’s be honest: My commentary wasn’t all that different from what more mainstream conservatives were saying—at the time and still today…Most conservatives are not, and never were, racists. But many have displayed a disregard for minorities for a very long time and in a plethora of ways. I certainly did. Minorities think we don’t like them. Not enough conservatives have tried to convince them that’s not true. Some seem comfortable doubling down on the same old insensitivities as a matter of being more right wing-than-thou.
It’s a problem. It’s also a dead end for the GOP.

I’ve noticed that the hosts are often behind the news curve…well, LOD, because he’s the only one I watch…once in a while. However, he’ll be talking about an issue as if it is gospel, and the situation and the info has already changed. How can we be more up on things than these people are? I’d think they would spend the last hour before their shows reading the absolutely latest news.
Yes, one reason we liked Keith, was because his was fresh. He wrote it, and we knew it, and he took responsibility. I don’t watch the day time shows at all, but from what many of you say, all their programs come from the same writers!

Sad news guys. My puppy-nephew Oliver is suffering from brain inflammation, which is apparently specific to his breed (Maltese-Poodle mix). I’m told it can happen to small, toy-sized dogs between 2-6 years. He’s 4 1/2 half years old. Poor baby has tremors like you might see in a patient with Parkinson’s Disease and he has trouble walking without toppling over. The vet has him on steroid treatment, which has helped some, but says it’ll be like this for months, if not the rest of his life. It’s so heartbreaking to this fearless & sweet little fire-cracker reduced to a trembly shadow of himself. 😦

I’m heartbroken for poor little Oliver.

Are they absolutely positive it’s brain-related? My beloved Pilgrim (a yorkie-poo) was having seizures and went mis-diagnosed for months until they found that he had an insulinoma – a tumor on the pancreas – that causes low blood sugar and seizures. Mention it anyway and make sure they’ve tested for it. I spent 9 months on a chat group for insulinoma in dogs, and misdiagnosis was rampant since seizures are often considered neurological-related.

I’ll watch my little Kasper – a maltese-bichon mix. He’s about 4 years old now. I’ll be aware of your information.

There is nothing more heartbreaking than nursing a dog with an illness. Oliver is in my thoughts and prayers. Sending healing energy his way.
