Chips, I’ve figured something out – a bit late, but fairly reliable. Anytime I’m sending you a note or responding to you in any fashion I can guarantee that I’ll refresh and you would have sneaked in a new post. Really weird! 😀
So some RWNT tweeted about Kerry’s “two failed trips to Geneva” and “when will he learn”. I don’t get how they can be so hideously stupid or hateful or both. How do you ever get to the point of having peace without going to Geneva. I guess shuttle diplomacy is a good idea but two trips is just ridiculous.
AJE's Jonah Hull says preparations are being made for a press conf in #Geneva, where diplomats are trying to reach a nuclear deal with #Iran
I’m going to start a petition here about The Blog Tyrant not allowing us to edit our own comments after posting. It’s wrong and unfair and this cannot stand! 🙂
Their desperate desire for anything and everything this admin attempts to achieve, regardless of how good it might be for America and the world, is mindblowing, Forus. They are just consumed with hate.
This is sadly true, Chips. I don’t know how they manage to live such a negative existence. There’s so much good in the world, and so much good being done by this Administration.
Hiya Theo, and these are the people who call themselves the true ‘patriots’, yet they wish nothing but ill on America and all its people simply because of who’s in the White House. It’s all beyond me.
In their wicked racist selvers, many righties wish and want pres Obama to fail. So long as he is POTUS, their hate clouds their patriotic views for the hate baked, broiled, cooked and steamed since 2007……5 plus years is about a child in in preschool age, stagnated and dwarfed from growth of their own ideological making.
This blog is absolutely the only media I trust. I can’t believe how much I have pulled back from the nightly news, especially with Brian Williams. I tuned him out when he had someone on his show a long time ago to discuss PBO’s emotions.
COS, I haven’t watched any news programs in years. It was disgusting then and I can only imagine how disgusting it’s become. The only time I watch is when there is an urgent catastrophe or something. I get all I need from the great people here at The Obama Diary Network (TODN).
You know GGail, I was going to claim he was watching updates on the Iran talks and had his paws crossed for luck, but I just didn’t think you would, you know, believe me 😆
I have not been following closely enough to know the answer to this – what role, if any, does the US Congress have in all this? Do they have to agree to some treaty? If so is it Senate and House, or just Senate? I can imagine them trying to screw up everything
Elly, I think this is a pretty good article on what POTUS can do without involving Congress in the Iran situation because FOR SURE they would find a way to screw it up.
Hi, africa…I think that what so many of us are doing…trying to go about our day, but conscious of how important this is, and always checking back in for any smiggin of news. I can’t wait either….this will deserve a world wide toast!

Was about to share that up thread and decided to check first, Bobfr. 😀 Obviously we in NA are not the only ones anxious to have these talks take a positive step in the right direction.
The Iranians aren’t that different from us…this young, educated and vibrant country elected a leader that would free them from the dictatorial mindset and old ways of the past. We did the same…..I hold hope in my hands with them
Checking in from Lower Manhattan. I saw A.R.Gurneys new play in a small neighborhood theater and then went for dinner. All good, But
I could not wait to get to my computer and see what TOD was saying.
Apparently you guys have been fierce and focused as usual and SOS Kerry’s mission is ongoing and hope is very much alive. I want this to work so much. I want it for PBO and his team to succeed, I admit that, but also because it will right a terrible wrong. I never really could grasp the arrogance that made it ok for us to tell Iran what they could and couldn’t do.
I am not going against Israel or betraying my jewish heritage when I rejoice that President Obama has a Farsi speaker on staff. I love my country but I will not hate other countries reflexively.
(My kitchen window looks directly into the World Tade Center property, so don’t tell me I ive in some hippie fairytale or bubble. I know how much damage hate can do.)
Hello Vicki in Tribeca??? I’m guessing…..worked on Leonard between Brdwy/ Church…I miss the city:) Come stay with us and hopefully celebrate the good news. Why would you ever think that you’d be betraying your heritage because of a Farsi speaker on PBO staff? We all long for the same things for ourselves in this global community we call home.
Tribeca it is. 37 years. before it had a name, a drug store, or a grocerystore.
I feel disloyal whenever I confront my despair about Netanyahoo and Israeli belligerence.
Jewish “other” upbringing is powerful.
Everything is framed as “Is it good for the Jews?”
Wow, Vicki, you are in the thick of it. There was an SF pastry chef that had just gone to NYC to work at WOW and she died on 9/11. PBO has done so much to deal with it but there is still so much work to do.
Sounds like you had a lovely evening. I went to see the new film “Nebraska.” Incredible acting but very heavy.

“the right to uranium enrichment” is an interesting discussion with this article discussing that international agreements and treaties do not explicitly address it. In fact all are silent on it. So I think the issue is that the US and EU and Russia would be fine with the Iran agreement being silent on it but the Iranians want the language included. I’m kind of guessing on that part but I think it’s a reasonable guess.
*****
The issue is highly political for Iran, as it deems the right to produce atomic energy a matter of national pride and achievement. Decades of sanctions have made Iranians wary of relying on foreign suppliers of high technology.
But a senior U.S. official said on the eve of the Geneva talks that Washington did not believe that any country, not just Iran, had this right.
Article Four “is silent on the issue. It neither confers a right nor denies a right. So we don’t believe it is inherently there”, the senior Obama administration official said.
Samore said the United States and its allies have been making an additional argument: that whatever Iran’s rights under the NPT might be, they have been superseded by a series of U.N. Security Council resolutions in the last seven years demanding that Iran suspend its enrichment activities.
////
“I think it is understood that Iran will have some kind of enrichment program at the end of the day,” said proliferation expert Mark Hibbs of the Carnegie Endowment think tank.

Incredible story Arapaho415, they built a friggin’ garden on the roof of the building so, naturally, when there was heavy rain, the weight brought it down. And it actually won an architectural award. Astonishing.
😆 Confession: I looooooooove the Ashes! Sporting highlight of my life: getting to see a day’s play in Perth, Australia many moons ago – although it was probably the most uneventful day in the entire history of the friggin’ Ashes, NOTHING happened! Apart from an England batsman getting knocked out by a bouncer.
I mean, test cricket makes one long for a 15-inning baseball game. But, it is quite amusing to watch. I’d love to take in a county cricket match one of these moons.
Best sporting story ever: Ireland’s Cricket World Cup qualifier with Italy in the middle of the Abu Dhabi desert was abandoned this week ….. due to rain.

Good luck.
Hey COS
Hey Chips and friends. I have been running back and forth to my computer reading the tweets re the negotiations. Thanks.
Hey Chips, I am enjoying all of the good news today. Never count PBO and Obamabots out of the game. 🙂

Ah, I’ve been out most of the day and came here to get the update. As usual, easy as PIE. Thank you, Chips!!
Same here, Meta. Hello, friend.
Hello, africa! I hope everything is going great in your world.
A pleasure Meta, I’ve been getting all my updates from Bob and the gang, the only media I trust!
This blog is absolutely the only media I trust. I can’t believe how much I have pulled back from the nightly news, especially with Brian Williams. I tuned him out when he had someone on his show a long time ago to discuss PBO’s emotions.
Ha yes COS, you gotta love the pundits telling us how PBO feels! Truly, the whole bunch of them are insufferable.
COS, I haven’t watched any news programs in years. It was disgusting then and I can only imagine how disgusting it’s become. The only time I watch is when there is an urgent catastrophe or something. I get all I need from the great people here at The Obama Diary Network (TODN).
Has there been a sighting of Danny today? I’m afraid if we skip a week, we won’t recognize him.
Here he is this minute Meta, watching TV:
Not Fox, I promise. Toons.
OMG, what an adorable little pup. He looks like he’s watching the History Channel or National Geographic. Mui intelligente!!
😆 Actually, that pic makes him look really small, he’s getting huuuuuuuuuuuge!!!
Very sweet pic, Ms Chips! I must say 😀 😀 …..
i) your photographic skills are improving rapidly (must be the subject)

ii) …gulp.. I have to admit you are doing a fine job training the young man how to be on his best behaviour. You must have hidden parenting skills.

VC, I suspect John Kerry would find it easier handling Iran than Danny – he’s a maniac. Danny, not John Kerry.
Well, I like his moments of sanity – he looks so calm and intelligent. 😀 You sure you’re not making stuff up?
😆 Well, he’s 99% perfect, 1% bonkers!!!
That is one fine puppy. Hey Danny. What’s up in your neck of the wwods?
Chipsticks, you crossed Danny`s front paws! Ha!
You know GGail, I was going to claim he was watching updates on the Iran talks and had his paws crossed for luck, but I just didn’t think you would, you know, believe me 😆
