Ha, I know 57, my last dog adored grapes and he lived to 15!
So much divided opinion on these things, eg on whether you should give dogs bones (obviously certain kinds that splinter have to be avoided), Danny’s breeder strongly recommended them (for when he’s older), but others warn against. And the raw v cooked meats debate is a heated one!
I feed him various meats mixed with vitamin-jammed dog ‘nuts’, again as recommended by the breeder, so he’s thriving!
GTG to class but…I saw two HHS ACA ads during this game, also one during last weeks Sunday night game, and one during the Saturday primetime CBS Auburn/Georgia game.
Broncos-Chiefs SNF game gets 26.9 million viewers, 600,000 more than Game 7 of this year's NBA Finals
/Hmmmmmm. “I saw ….during this game…..night game…. game” I wonder when certain people make time to study and research and write papers, and edit, and….. Hmmmmm???/
Enjoy your class, LPlains, and be sure to participate. 😉
My version of participating is showing up, VC….. 🙂 My professor for this class is so boring, but always walks around the room…… hence limiting my TOD lurking ability!!!
President Obama is dispensing a bit of truth to the CEO COUNCIL. He itemized the improvements in the economy because of his initiatives and policies that rarely break through the media firewall. He sets the record straight. And he brings down the hammer on the Republican Party obstruction. Governing from self imposed crisis to crisis is hampering growth and progress.
He put on a clinic—–of knowing stuff. Widespread knowledge. I was glued also—-love to hear him speak, always so proud of this most intelligent president.
There are, however, some angles to this the right has overlooked. First, there have been 28 presidents since Lincoln, and 27 of them did not commemorate the anniversaries of the Gettysburg Address – and this includes Reagan, who did nothing on the 125th anniversary, and never visited Gettysburg as president. (The exception was William Howard Taft.) Obama, in other words, is doing largely what nearly all of his predecessors have done without controversy.
Second, I’m trying to imagine the uproar from some of these same conservative critics if Obama did go to Gettysburg to mark the occasion today. We can all probably imagine the predictable rhetoric: Obama thinks he’s Lincoln! The arrogance! Why is he trying to politicize a cemetery? This must have something to do with distracting us from the health care website! And maybe Benghazi!
They are all officially senior citizens — and so are many of their fans — but that isn’t stopping the surviving members of Monty Python from planning a reunion that is expected to take the form of a stage show.
Members of the beloved British comedy group are expected to announce this week that they are reuniting for a new stage production. Eric Idle said on his Twitter account that a news conference will be held in London on Thursday. “Make sure Python fans are alerted to the big forthcoming news event,” he wrote.
Freakish media like MSNBC only wants to hear what the President has to say about Obamacare, and then they cut him off. Good thing I’m listening at the online link. He is phenomenal!!!!!
That was absolutely fabulous to watch. I was totally engrossed and marveling at his brilliance. That weasel Paul Ryan is following President Obama. I wish there was some kind of buzzer to push every time he tells a lie. The noise would be deafening.
Wouldn’t it be great if the Pinnochio thing was real? Every time Ryan told a lie, his nose would grow. It would be so huge by the time he left the room, he would need an army of men to help carry it out of there. A 100 yd. nose. 🙂
Senator Harry Reid appears set to go nuclear — before Thanksgiving.
With Senate Republicans blocking a third Obama nomination to the powerful D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, a senior Senate Democratic leadership aide tells me Reid is now all but certain to move to change the Senate rules by simple majority — doing away with the filibuster on executive and judicial nominations, with the exception of the Supreme Court – as early as this week……
….The key to understanding what’s happening now is that it is fundamentally different from the last “nuclear” standoff. In that one, Republicans blockaded a handful of executive nominations (such as Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Board) in part out of an objection to the function of the agencies they had been picked to lead. Republicans ultimately dropped their objections in exchange for Dems agreeing not to change the rules as part of a short term deal
But now, Dems have already agreed not to change the rules once, and the filibustering continues, even though Republicans admitted when the last deal was reached that they were wrong to block Obama from staffing the government. And now, the GOP position is not grounded in an objection to Obama’s nominees or to the function of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals; it’s grounded in the argument that Obama should not have the power to make these appointments to the court at all. As Jonathan Chait argues, Republicans may not have even thought through the full implications of the position they’ve adopted. But Dems have, and taking it to its logical conclusion, they believe Republicans have presented them with a simple choice: Either they change the rules, or they accept those limits on Obama’s power. And that really leaves only one option.
Well, finally!!! I want to stand up and shout Hallelujah! It’s about freaking time the Dems stood up and put an end to this Republican filibuster clown show. Americans have had enough of GOP antics based on hatred of the president and contempt for the democratic process. The Republicans are bullies and they will push and push and push until someone pushes back. The time to push back has now long since passed. Let’s get it done.
Seems pretty clear that the GOP has decided to force democrats to use the nuclear option. An hypothesis I have is that they are confident they’ll take the Senate in 2014 and want no filibuster but they want the democrats to be the ones who’ll be seen as breaking tradition.
Or they want democrats to use the nuclear option and are planning to scream at the breach of democracy and use this to regain the majority in the Senate.
Whatever their strategy is, it’s clear they are going for broke and have decided to force the democrats to end the filibuster or at least, seriously change the rules.
They are confident that, as usual, the media won’t provide any context, won’t make the demonstration of the UNPRECEDENT ABUSE of the filibuster by republicans. No, they’re confident that the media will simply repeat talking points and do their best to not put the blame solely on the repubs. If the media was honest enough to put out some charts out there ; the abuse of the filibuster is SO easy to see… No the media is much too timid and corrupt to say anything beyond “the Senate is broken” ” both parties incapable of compromise” etc… Are those guys willfully blind, or complete idiots?
UT, I especially love this last set of tweet summaries. Laughed at the one about exposing the archaic government procurement rules for IT, which have probably not been updated since computers were invented. Wonder if it’s under the full authority of the executive branch to change these rules.
US is still In Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. Those to be rotated in Afghanistan would not be fighting, unless provoked, attacked or harrassed by fools who know nothing. Then US will kindly answer the call, come what may.
The Senate has reached an agreement that results in a series of 2 roll call votes at 5:00pm tonight. Those votes will be in relation to the amendments listed below. Each amendment is subject to a 60-affirmative vote threshold.
– Ayotte #2255 (Guantanamo)
– Levin-MCain-Feinstein #2175 (Guantanamo)
Unanimous consent agreement
Reid: Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the pending motion to recommit be withdrawn; that the pending Levin amendment #2123 be set aside for Senator Ayotte, or designee, to offer amendment #2255, relative to Guantanamo; that the amendment be subject to a relevant side-by-side amendment, which is #2175 from Senators Levin and McCain; that no second degree amendments be in order to either of the Guantanamo amendments; that each of these amendments be subject to a 60 affirmative vote threshold; that the time until 5pm be equally divided between the two Leaders, or their designees; that at 5pm, the Senate proceed to vote in relation to the Ayotte amendment #2255; that upon disposition of the Ayotte amendment, the Senate proceed to vote in relation to the Levin-McCain amendment #2123; that there be two minutes equally divided in between the votes; further, that no motions to recommit be in order during the consideration of S.1197.
Ooooo! Me likey! Me really, really likey. 😀 Thanks, Lady Mayor, this should stop him, whoever he is, in his tracks.

While I’m still able, I better ask if anyone else has been having problems posting. I’ve noticed over the past week or so that SOMEtimes I’ll post a comment, see it showing in the proper spot on the thread, then when I go back to post another comment the previous will still be in the ‘Leave a Reply’ section. That happened twice today before it wouldn’t let me post at all. What didn’t make any sense to me was that the comments that were still in the ‘Leave a Reply’ section were, AT THE SAME TIME, up in the thread. Soooo, is WordP trying to play with my mind……or is it ….. Hey, where is Amk? And don’t tell me he’s sleeping. I don’t believe a word of it!
I went thru that on and off for several weeks. Chips finally had to talk to the people that ran the spam thingy. I had to talk to them before they finally cleared it up. Hope it doesn’t happen to you.
I don’t know. I had to tell them my problem several times and then they sent me an email saying the problem was solved. I haven’t had any trouble posting since then. Seems we somehow kept going into the spam box. If it continues I am sure Chips will give you the people to contact. I believe she has to initiate it.
Mine wasn’t going into spam, MT. In fact in the end it wasn’t going anywhere. Before that it would post, then return and sit in the reply area – waiting for a compliment (Nice postie??) I’d guess. 🙄 I don’t like when things start to act up cause I never know what to do. This time I shut the system down and counted to 10 before rebooting, but I doubt that creative solution will work if there’s a next time. Crossing fingers, I am.
Me.
You! I saw Leave a comment and then my computer froze – while you were leaving a comment!
Thanks for this link, Chips – was just coming to find it and YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT, honey.
“YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT, honey.”
Tell that to Danny, Jacqueline, I just gave him a mashed up boiled egg and he spat it out on the floor. Then went to bed in a huff 😕
He’s bitin’ the hand that feeds him, hopefully figuratively. That can’t be good. 🙂
And the breeder told me he LOVES eggs. Huh. So far, if it isn’t chicken, sausages or grapes (seriously) he has less than zero interest 😕
Ms Chips, I don’t think dogs should eat grapes. They can be toxic.
Please check.
Thanks Criquet, just saw LL’s link, yikes.
yes — NO grapes.
Although my Rufus ate tons of grapes. He died a month shy of his 19th birthday so go figure. But there is a lot of research that says NO grapes.
Are you supplementing Danny’s food with vitamins, etc.? Do you have a formula for home cooked food that replaces commercial dog food?
I’ve cooked for the pups when they’re ill and old, and have often intended to cook all of their food.

Oooo, Chips, no grapes. That’s bad for dogs.
http://www.caninejournal.com/foods-not-to-feed-dog
Oh flippin’ heck ….. no more grapes 😥
Don’t feed him poinsettias either. 🙂 And—-maybe he prefers eggs benedict. Did you ever think of that??? Huh, did you??? 🙂
😆 I will try him with eggs benedict Dotster, promise!! Oh damn it, you’ve just made me seriously crave eggs benedict – for myself!
Hell, I’d spit that out too. My Puppy Soul Mate and I demand ONLY THE BEST! Don’t try that mess again! 😎
ID, please.
Congraaaatulations UT!!! A special prize:
That is one glow in the dark human being.
I know LL, isn’t he gorgeous?
Dang! Has the poor man never been outside in broad daylight? What is he a vampire? 😀
That kid is one of my heroes.
😯
What do I win?
{{GOB}} A couple of hugs! 😉
AWESOME 🙂 🙂
GeeeeeeeeBeeeeeeee!
((((HUGS))))) 🙂 🙂
What kind of no arms hug is that? 🙄
“I love you this much.” “That’s not very much.” : )

VC, since you are so persistent………. I sent you an e-mail.
I saw it. Not sure where to start, hence my silence. I’m thinking, okay?
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a TV commercial for ACA?!?!?!
Since I am not a sports person, I wouldn’t know……
This is the commercial they are airing during the games. They know the demographic they are reaching…..
Thanks, LP. As I said, I wouldn’t have known.
This is a great ad. Imagine if those so against ‘death panels’ would have funded ACA so people could actually stay healthy.
Congrats on 1st UT 🙂
That’s some picture, Chips!!! 😉

Maybe some lie activated nails in the seat pan so that when he finishes he goes out of there with a bloody butt.
This excellent Q&A will get no press time. Our President is a stand up guy and gets little credit. History will shine favorably on him!
