Honestly, unless we can mount a credible primary threat to the filibuster enablers in the Senate, there doesn’t seem to be any movement. Harry Reid must not have the votes or the balls to do anything.
Sometimes it gives ya a little thrill to see who’s involved in various causes we non-celebrities (and I speak only for myself on that) support! Good for him.
GE TOD, Congrats JB đ Thanks for providing audio of the teleconference, Chips!
People losing their insurance is a bigger story, unfortunately, than people getting insurance for the first time.
1. PEOPLE WITH THESE POLICIES FREQUENTLY DONâT LIKE THEM.
2. PEOPLE WITH THESE POLICIES DONâT TYPICALLY HAVE THEM FOR VERY LONG.
3. MANY, PROBABLY MOST PEOPLE WITH THESE POLICIES WILL FIND OBAMACARE POLICIES COST THEM LESS.
4. THE PEOPLE GETTING WORSE DEALS TEND TO BE MORE AFFLUENT.
5. PAYING MORE FOR INSURANCE MIGHT MEAN PAYING LESS FOR MEDICAL CARE.
6. JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKED YOUR POLICY THIS YEAR, THAT DOESNâT MEAN YOUâD LIKE IT NEXT YEAR.
Obamacare Policy Cancellations: Media Mythology, Republican Spin http://t.co/Z1dGRqP3f3 6 Things the Media Doesn't Understand About the ACA.
âŚ.Itâs impossible to specify exactly how many people are going to be better off in the new system or how many will feel better off. Those two things are not the same. But both groups are probably the majority of people with non-group insuranceâand quite probably a large majority. That would suggest relatively few people are like the ones weâre hearing and reading about so much in the media.
That doesnât mean the media or policymakers should ignore these people. Again, this is a very big country, which means even a very small percentage can number in the millions. But the media should give these stories the proper contextâand put them in the proper perspective. Right now it isnât.
Anniebella, if they have a computer and know how to use it, we can direct them to Healthcare.gov where they will probably be able to apply online. There is a link to every state from there. If they aren’t computer savvy, they can call 1-800-318-2596 and get help on the phone. The main thing is to ask your friends, relative, and neighbors if they have good health insurance and to explain why they may find a better deal on their state marketplace if they got cancelled or if they have no coverage. This does not apply to people old enough to be on Medicare. Look up barackobama.com/events and put in your zip code to see if a local OFA group is doing any leafletting or other educational events on Obamacare. Some states are.
“Here in Washington state, we take education seriously. We’re home to world-class universities like the University of Washington and Washington State University. We’re taking innovative approaches to prepare our children for jobs of the future at places like Henrietta Lacks High School right here in Clark County. And our state’s Supreme Court ruled last year that we’re constitutionally obligated to fully fund a quality K-12 education system.
But when it comes to early education and helping our children enter kindergarten ready to succeed, we have a long way to go. In Washington state, 91 percent of eligible 3-year-olds and 80 percent of eligible 4-year-olds don’t attend state- or federally funded preschool, and by the time they get to kindergarten, those children are far behind their peers on the path to success. It’s not fair to those kids, it’s not good for our state, and it’s time we did something about it. That’s why I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues this week to introduce legislation that will give every child in Washington state and across the country access to high-quality early education.”
Yup! I think we should all do that…because you never know when the moment happens! We could save someone’s life just by having the number handy and available…make them call from your phone even:)
I saw a tweet from OFA Md asking people to help them hand out ACA flyers. I thought that is something I could do here in IL.—–hand out flyers at the community college near me, and elsewhere. Now, does anyone know how I could get said flyers?
Thanks for the reminder, J’ob! I’m looking forward to watching the documentary. I have fond memories of my family gathered around the TV to watch her when we were little.
Mediaite has learned through very reliable sources that CNN anchor Don Lemon will be getting his own program in the 11 P.M. hour at CNN. It will be a one-topic show tackling important issues of the day, either reported or vastly underreported, from Lemonâs unique perspective.
We hear Lemon already informed his weekend staff of the change, and last weekend was his final weekend for CNN Newsroom. The show will be tested during the 11 P.M. hour in December, a timeslot currently occupied by reruns of AC360.
Mediaite has also learned Lemon will be filling in for Erin Burnett on Outfront while she is on maternity leave.
Sounds a little like a demotion … when they start using anchors to “fill in” and then move them to the weekend or late night … shades of Ed Schultz, et al.
It is a promotion but he has a December as the trial rating getter……….to determine how he is doing. So watch out for the Lemon to get more Sour and Bitter against POTUS and African Americans.
It seems those are his gig now. It has paid off for him.
Per the stories likned, the Lemon has done his last show last weekend and is now going to replace Erin Burnett while she is on maternity and then he starts his 10:00pm ET show in December.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Healthcare workers assisting people to sign up for insurance on the HealthCare.gov marketplace on Monday told Reuters they had noticed improvement in the problem-plagued website.

“Saturday was the first day that I was actually able to get someone through the entire process on the website. That was pretty exciting. And I know on Saturday that wasn’t the case for everyone on my team, but more and more consistently we’re having success with it,” said Rachel Udow, program director for MHP, a community-based organization focused on migrant issues in Weslaco, Texas.

Lift him up, Lift him up. Mr. President, we will always lift you up knowing that our lifting will enable you to lift up those who are not able for whatever reason to make the lift themselves. That is what a decent, caring, loving, thoughtful, and compassionate nation does.
Thank you for continuing to inspire each of us to do our best to help you go to the Oval Office each day thinking about us, making decisions that will make life a little better for us, and doing it all in the face of forces of oppositional evils. But we will prevail because goodness of heart has the greater and more decent cause in our space. We will make it happen because it is the right thing to do. Saving a life is a great deposit to make in ones account of rightness for all. Just is the right thing to do. Just is good to be on the right side of history. Honored to be a part of your legacy, Mr. President. Thank you, Mr. President for caring and doing the right thing.
Good night our beautiful Chips and TOD family. I love you all so dearly. We will make this happen.HZ

Thanks, Bob – glad to R/T that one!
Honestly, unless we can mount a credible primary threat to the filibuster enablers in the Senate, there doesn’t seem to be any movement. Harry Reid must not have the votes or the balls to do anything.
That’s awesome. One more reason to like him.

What can we do to help people sign up for Obamacare?

Outstanding idea, df!

That struck me so funny. And I’m old enough to remember watching Moms Mabley on the teevee.
Thanks for the reminder, J’ob! I’m looking forward to watching the documentary. I have fond memories of my family gathered around the TV to watch her when we were little.
Damn I forgot this special was this evening.
DVR’d it and it’s coming up for me at 3:45-5:00 am overnight, which – of course – I’ll be watching tomorrow!
Gotcha. Thanks.
Welcome. (Even my old grandmother liked her – think when she’d be on the Merv Griffin show or one of them!)
I use to hear her before tv. She was way back in the day. My folks had some of her records on 78 rpm’s. She was on Ed Sullivan.
Folks this why Don Lemon has been a Lemon for so many months now.
He was pimping for a Gig. Now the gig is up
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnns-don-lemon-getting-11-p-m-timeslot-mon-fri/
Mediaite has learned through very reliable sources that CNN anchor Don Lemon will be getting his own program in the 11 P.M. hour at CNN. It will be a one-topic show tackling important issues of the day, either reported or vastly underreported, from Lemonâs unique perspective.

Sounds a little like a demotion … when they start using anchors to “fill in” and then move them to the weekend or late night … shades of Ed Schultz, et al.
Not a demotion for he would have a prime time slot…..and then cover for Erin Burnett’s time slot.
You could be right. I considered that prime time issue – still sounded a little “off” to me with the “fill-in” part.
It is a promotion but he has a December as the trial rating getter……….to determine how he is doing. So watch out for the Lemon to get more Sour and Bitter against POTUS and African Americans.
It seems those are his gig now. It has paid off for him.
Isn’t Lemon only on CNN over the weekends?
I only recall seeing him on Saturday evenings (though I hardly ever turn CNN on lately).
Per the stories likned, the Lemon has done his last show last weekend and is now going to replace Erin Burnett while she is on maternity and then he starts his 10:00pm ET show in December.
He may be filling in already, since I spotted him on daytime teevee today … I don’t follow CNN much, either, so not sure.
Nena, I won’t be watching the ugly bastard.
Oops….this is why. Sorry
