Amen. He is going to go to prison or he is going to die by the gun. The man is a walking time-bomb. Too many mothers prayed for justice for that young man. God is not dead.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/report-george-zimmerman-arrested-after-domestic-dispute-with-girlfriend

George Zimmerman was arrested Monday after an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend, authorities told WESH-TV.

Sheriff Don Eslinger confirmed that Zimmerman, who was acquitted of shooting and killing teenager Trayvon Martin earlier this year, was being driven to Seminole County Jail, per the Orlando Sentinel, after an incident took place around 1:30pm ET.

I am NO FAN of Zimmerman and I have no clue what’s happened in this case, but sometimes I wonder if some women who get involved with men who clearly have problems do so with ‘sinister’ intent. I mean, who jumps into bed with a man recently accused of murder and shortly thereafter accused by wife of threats, not to mention the mini escapades with the law immediately following his release? There are times when I really do not understand the female mind. Or as Amk, might say /wimmin. smh/

      • 79 99ts
        November 18, 2013 at 8:00 pm

I disagree VC – there are a multitude of reasons why women are attracted to “the wrong un” – they can be persuaded by the talk, they can think they are the one to reform him – they read and believe what they want to believe. Zimmerman had massive online financial and “moral” support for what he did – the prosecution at his trial was the best defense anyone could have.

Too often women – who are the victim of such men – are blamed – the blame lies 100% with Zimmerman.

    [Jonathan Bernstein @ Plum]:

[…..] The problem with Kraushaar’s fantasy — and it is a pure fantasy, one which winds up with an imagined vote count on a repeal veto override — is that no actual Democrats in Congress can be found who are even hinting at anything resembling such a dramatic reversal.

None. There are a handful of House Democrats who have always opposed the law, but beyond them, nada. Zip. Zilch.

Oh, there are plenty of Democrats who want to be on record as opposing the costs of Obamacare while still supporting the benefits. Especially when it’s a safe vote on something that has no chance to become law. That’s the real story behind the 39 House Democrats who voted for GOP Rep. Fred Upton’s “fix” to the law last week.

Sure, these Dems have “distanced themselves” from the law. But what does that really mean? The jump from getting upset at the costs to actually wanting to eliminate the benefits is an enormous one, and Democrats — including Democrats in marginal districts — simply aren’t making it. […..]

OFA – Health Care for the Holidays Training

This Saturday we held a Health Care for the Holidays Training in Santa Rosa CA. We had 27 in attendance, a great speaker from the Sonoma County Health Dept. and enthusiastic folks who learned a bunch. I will try and make a blog post of the event soon. folks are committed to making this work.

I hope some of you on the blog attended a training or are helping with this effort. One of our most popula things to do is to have a tabling events at a local grocery store, or college campus. I would love to hear what others are doing.

I am going to sign up my 2 daughters and their boyfriends (all under 35) If everyone at our training signed up 4 folks we would have signed up 100 people. This is how we win!!

[Field Negro & Nerdy Wonka (UT) are fam! Mentions UT while discussing USA Today calling Best Man Holiday “Racially Themed” then chaanging it to “Ethinically Diverse”.] Uggh! :

[…..] People get mad at black folks when we emphasize the racial or ethnic angle in anything that we do, but the truth of the matter is, as my twitter fam Nerdy Wonka said, “If a cast is all white, it’s a movie. If it’s all black, it’s a “race-themed” movie”. So it’s not black folks who are separating themselves from the society at large, society has separated from us.

The fact that we like to see people on the big screen who look like us and who are saying things that we can relate to does not mean that we want to separate ourselves, and main stream newspapers shouldn’t label us that way.

I suspect that quite a few white folks watched Best Man Holiday because they wanted to be entertained for a couple of hours. News flash: Black folks watch movies and television shows with a majority white cast for the same reason. […..]

So Jay was asked about Dick Cheney and his daughters’ Liz and Mary’s disputes on Marriage equality about their family fued? Mary is not going to see Liz for Xmas. Funny how the questioned was asked. Is POTUS going to give Cheney credit on recognizing marriage equality before POTUS did? Seriously folks?

    • 88 jacquelineoboomer
      November 18, 2013 at 2:38 pm

I wasn’t watching, but I have a random thought on that. We all know this, but that type of question of Jay is another big waste of time for the rest of the country, those listening in, looking for “news.” He speaks for the President, but must the President be asked for his opinion on every incident or family feud? Especially a question about the Cheney family from newsjerks looking for a gotcha moment. How could the President even begin to answer something like that, other than to say he would prefer to keep the family business of the Cheney family theirs and theirs alone. Everyone has already heard the President’s thoughts on marriage equality. I’d prefer the patriarch of the Cheney family to just move on to The Hague, and maybe the rest of them would slide back into oblivion at their respective ranches.

    LIARS ARE US

The wrong message, the wrong messengers

    By Steve Benen

    ——————————-

But listening to Dick Cheney, Mitt Romney, and Paul Ryan talk about honesty, credibility, and the need for skepticism is just a bit too much. Romney broke new ground as one of the most brazenly mendacious politicians of his generation; Ryan’s fondness for falsehoods is extraordinary even in a Congress where dishonesty is the norm; and Dick Cheney is, well, Dick Cheney.

Americans shouldn’t turn to Lance Armstrong for wisdom on performance-enhancing drugs in sports; we shouldn’t turn to Miley Cyrus for guidance on public modesty; and we shouldn’t turn to Cheney, Romney, and Ryan for lectures on honesty in politics. It’s not complicated: they have no credibility because they have a nasty habit for saying things that aren’t true.

[LeVar Burton basically tells Tarantino to ….. well ….. get off his lawn! 🙂 🙂 Tarantino should never have said]:

“When you look at Roots, nothing about it rings true in the storytelling, and none of the performances ring true for me either,” said Tarantino last December. “It didn’t move me because it claimed to be something it wasn’t.”

[Coz then LeVar responded with a BOOM]:

“Django Unchained is a fantasy, let’s be clear,” Burton said. “And when Quentin Tarantino says that Django is more real than Roots, I call bullsh*t. I got nothing against him, but don’t go there, okay? Don’t go there, Quentin.”

He added, “Too many people who look like me bled and died for you to have the opportunity to satirize the slave narrative. There’s a place for satire in culture. Taken at face value, as a piece of satire, I went and enjoyed it. It was fun. Let’s just not get it twisted. Django was not real.”

The Obamacare Cancellation Notices You Haven’t Heard About

BY IGOR VOLSKY AND ADAM PECK

    —————————————–

The stories of private market enrollees being forced to purchase more substantive insurance have animated politics for the last three weeks. But the failure of 25 states to expand Medicaid coverage to 133 percent of the federal poverty line, as envisioned by reform, is actually far more disastrous and undermines the promise of health care for the millions who earn “too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to qualify for Marketplace premium tax credits.”

Relying on analysis form the Kaiser Family Foundation, ThinkProgress compared the numbers of lower-income Americans who are denied coverage by GOP-controlled legislatures or governors to the public estimates of residents receiving cancellation notices in those states’ individual markets. Though the public debate has focused on the loss of individual private plans, the working poor are far more likely to go without insurance:

[Madiba update. Be well dear, great man.]:

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — South Africa’s former president, Nelson Mandela, remains “quite ill” and unable to speak because of tubes that are keeping his lungs clear of fluid, though he is relaxed, his former wife told a South African newspaper.

“He remains very sensitive to any germs, so he has to be kept literally sterile. The bedroom there (in his suburban Johannesburg home) is like an ICU ward,” Winnie Madikizela-Mandela told the Sunday Independent. “He is 95 years old and it is difficult for him, because of all the tubes that are in his mouth to clear the (fluid from his) lungs, and prevent an infection recurring.” Because of those tubes, she said, he communicates through his face.

“But the doctors have told us they hope he will be able to recover his voice,” she said, adding that he is being treated by 22 doctors at his home.

Mandela’s former wife shot down reports that the former anti-apartheid leader and Nobel Peace prize winner was on life support.

“I have heard this nonsense that he is on life support. He is not,” she told the newspaper. When asked if he was peaceful, she said, “Very. When he is very relaxed, he is fine,” adding that it helps he is at his home, an environment that he recognizes.
