ObamaCare: Saving Lives Everyday

Orlando Sentinel: My Word: No Apologies – Obamacare Works

Detractors ridicule President Obama’s apology to people who are “losing” their health-insurance plans. He had no need to apologize to my family. We are grateful for the Affordable Care Act. As for ridicule, consider the source: Most harsh critics are the same politicians who have fought every aspect of affordable health insurance for all.

My husband and I buy our own health insurance. We’re among those who don’t enjoy employer-paid health or other coverage, and we represent only about 5 percent of the population. That’s a small number, but you wouldn’t guess that from opponents’ vitriol or the headlines and TV they command.

To these critics of the health law — especially those lamenting the botched implementation of it — spare us your crocodile tears. If there are any apologies, it should come from these unrelenting opponents hell-bent to repeal the reform but who never utter a peep what they would do to replace it.

You see, we’ve been forced to purchase our own health insurance for several years. The deductible was enormous; the premium was often more expensive than our monthly take-home pay, particularly during a bout of joblessness. We were forced to dip into our savings. The risk of going without insurance was a gamble we could not afford to take.

So, thanks to what detractors call Obamacare, we had no choice but to go with a better plan that costs less money.

Thank you, Mr. President. God bless.

…..Politico, by my count, has no fewer than 14 front page headlines today about the great Obamacare debacle. The Washington Post’s four top news articles and its four top op-eds are all about Obamacare, and the top op-eds are uniformly panicky…Ruth Marcus thinks Obama’s entire presidency at risk. Ditto for Milbank. And if that’s not bad enough for you, Krauthammer suggests that yesterday’s events spell doom for the entire liberal project. Not just conservatives, either; Ronald Brownstein devoted a column to, well, how the entire liberal project was at risk. It was a frenzy over … exactly what, anyway? The only shred of news about the Affordable Care Act this week to hang all of the hype on was the numbers on October signups, but given the thoroughly covered disaster with the initial rollout, the results were surely no surprise at all. As for the other strand of trouble, the pledge about keeping insurance, that’s been around for a few weeks now, and nothing really happened this week to create a bigger flap.

All of which suggests that this is a press story, not a presidency or policy story……

….The last media frenzy about Obama’s collapse (not counting a smaller one over Syria) came in the spring, when Triple Scandals threatened to destroy him. But those scandals fizzled prematurely, leaving the scandal-loving press with a bad case of frustration. Indeed, as Brandon Nyhan was writing before those Triple Scandals, Obama was way overdue for something like that. When it didn’t pan out, the press was presumably still primed for a pile-on, and even though ACA implementation may not have been a promising topic, they worked with what they had.

In other words, it’s like Whitewater because it’s the result of the press primed and ready and waiting for something to blow up around. It’s different because there is a real story here, but that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with how the press is behaving. Like Whitewater, or like the Triple Scandals from April, the phony frenzy part of this will blow over soon. But not before there’s plenty of damage – to the reputation of much of the working press, that is. There’s this week’s real fiasco.

I would say “It’s not what you say, it’s about what you do.” When using that phrase and measuring the Republicans actions it proves their dishonesty. WE need to keep pointing out the actions and voting records to prove them wrong since most people do not dig into the facts and just listen to the talking points and the MSM.

(TOD GEEKS) So…. I grew up playing in Chess tournaments, and this kid about to become the next Bobby Fischer. He was been ranked #1 in the world for 3yrs., but had to win certain tournaments to earn the chance to beat the current World Champion, Viswanathan Anand, 43, an Indian grandmaster, who won the title in 2007, and win $2.5 million!

…..But Carlsen has moves away from the board too. Alongside actress Liv Tyler he’s the face of an international fashion label. This month, he was voted one of Cosmopolitan’s Sexiest Men of 2013. And he reportedly earns $1 million a year from playing chess. Dubbed the “Mozart of chess”, Carlsen sprung into the history books early when he became the youngest grandmaster ever at the age of 13. By age 19, he was rated the world’s No. 1 player. “I’m just really, really good at what I do,” Carlsen told the Guardian. “I’m fortunate to do something I love, but I’m not a genius.”

His followers beg to differ. Part of Carlsen’s allure is his dynamic technique – almost a reactive player, he uses tactical and risky choices rather than fast winning moves. He prolongs the tension and complicates the position of his pieces so that any one move could unravel his opponent.
Many are hoping Carlsen will take the coveted title and are already treating him like royalty. It’s reported the World Chess Federation flew in two Norwegian chefs to cater Carlsen’s meals while he is competing in the 12 games……

This let me know that media has it’s agenda, and it is to make President Obama look as bad as they can. It would be okay to compare the rollout of Obamacare to G.W. 2006 Medicare Part D, but no the media want to compare it to Katrina and Iraq war.

The media has not ONLY Dem bias, ODS, but they have deep seated racial animus against pres Obama. The Hyperbole in covering this pres since 2007 is double, triple and even quadruple twisted standard built in.

Like Phoenix rising from the ashes, BENGHAZI will be resurrected again. There is no doubt about it. TBGOPers have Elephant as their symbol. They believe, inaccurately, but ideologically that Benghazi is Not a dry well. They will keep digging until it totally becomes their undoing.

So to borrow from Pres Obama:

      Please proceed, TBGOPers.

The Guardian really needs to stop lying …

“As The Guardian has taken center stage in the Snowden drama, serving as the English-language conduit of choice for publishing classified information about the National Security Agency and its partners that was stolen by Edward Snowden, it’s taken heat from the British government about its possibly illegal activities.

The bottom line is that The Guardian and its defenders are simply lying when they assert that 850,000 people saw the stuff that Ed stole. No, they didn’t. Not once, ever. Even as an NSA counterintelligence officer with ridiculously high level clearances and accesses to do my job, I never saw “everything” – because that’s literally impossible in the system. Every person’s access is specifically tailored to what he or she needs to know to do the job, and nothing more.

Which is why Ed had to hack NSA systems for months and years, including stealing the log-ins and passwords of others, who presumably had better accesses than a mere system administrator would, to get a look at the TS/SCI+ information he wanted to steal and expose to the world, while making off to Moscow as a finishing touch.”

    More at the link: http://20committee.com/2013/11/17/the-guardian-really-needs-to-stop-lying/

Chips & UT – suggest you include this in a future “Front Page.” Thank you.

So glad our TOD Illinois people are safe. As true Oklahomans, we are watching the weather channel tonight. There is a terrible fascination to these storms. Just heard that some high number like 300,000 are without power in Michigan. I have a cousin in the middle of the storm area in western Ohio, just across the line from Ft. Wayne, IN. I emailed her asking her to respond when she knew she was okay. She and husband were on a road trip back from the eastern part of the state, heading right into the winds, going home. She emailed from her phone, they were fine, so far. I know they’re anxious to get home and see their home is still standing. They live in the town where I was born, so I am especially interested.
    And…..there is no climate change?????
