Oh thank the gods, a new thread. As a mini-BT I was getting nervous.

  2. November 13, 2013 at 10:39 pm

A fed-up Elizabeth Warren called out Republicans’ “naked attempts to nullify the results of the last presidential election” and warned of payback in the mode of filibuster reform if they keep blocking all of Obama’s judicial nominees. (Video of floor speech included)

“Republicans may not like Wall Street reform. They may not like Obamacare. But Congress passed those laws,” Warren said Wednesday on the Senate floor. “President Obama ran for reelection on those laws, while his opponent pledged to repeal them–and his opponent lost by nearly five million votes. It is not up to judges to overturn those laws or their associated regulations just because they don’t fit those judges’ policy preferences.”

  8. November 13, 2013 at 10:52 pm

President Barack Obama on Wednesday signed a bill that, it turns out, hits close to home. H.R. 2094, the School Access to Emergency Epinephrine Act, was passed with bipartisan support to help students with food allergies, including oldest daughter Malia.

“This is something that will save children’s lives,” the President said at the signing. “Some people may know that Malia actually has a peanut allergy. She doesn’t have asthma, but obviously making sure that EpiPens are available in case of emergency in schools is something that every parent can understand.”

The new law provides incentives to schools to set up plans to have EpiPens and trained staff members more readily available. It gives funding preferences for asthma treatment grants to states where schools keep emergency supplies of epinephrine, allow school employees with training to administer it and develop a plan to make sure trained staffers are available during all school hours. This is the first time Obama spoke of Malia, 15, having a peanut allergy.

    Checking in

    • November 13, 2013 at 11:10 pm

Well I’m cynical enough to think that Bill Clinton intentionally placed that knight right between President Obama’s shoulder blades on purpose. Was Messina a part of the act? If so, big mistake on both their parts. I’ve heard plenty of Dems talking about O’Malley and Elizabeth Warren. Hillary’s not the only possibility. Nor will PBO’s supporters work for her if she is perceived as attempting to undermine him. Dems might have to vote for her, but they sure don’t have to work for her.

      • November 13, 2013 at 11:19 pm

I’m totally disheartened that so many of PBO’s top advisors have already signed on to HRC’s putative campaign. I know that they have to follow the money and all that but I’m absolutely incensed that her presidency seems to be a fait accompli. It really sickens me because in 2008 we all worked so hard to have a CHOICE.

“He already serves as chairman of Organizing for Action, the advocacy group backing Obama’s second-term agenda” …… so does that mean if he ends up doing that job what happens to ofa.

I feel sick. The Clintons are no friends of this president. They had their time. I believe Bill wants to tarnish our Presidents’ legacy so his own legacy (of what I don’t know) outshines President Obamas’. Just my thoughts. Bill Clintons’ ego cannot be contained.

        November 13, 2013 at 11:18 pm

“Bill Clinton’s ego cannot be contained.” How true! Hillary’s running is an ego trip for him as far as I’m concerned. He just can’t tolerate not being the center of attention…..will do anything to get it back. I really wonder how Hillary feels about all this hype too soon. Does she ever think about her inevitability in 2008 and how that worked out? If she were smart, she’d put the lid on all these early ventures. No more Clintons, no more Bushes, no presidential dynasties.

        • November 13, 2013 at 11:22 pm

The reason I feel so depressed about this is all these moves are intended to make us feel like this in inevitable. I trusted Messina, Burton, Bird. Not anymore.

            November 13, 2013 at 11:28 pm

Have Burton and Bird also signed up for HRC?

                November 13, 2013 at 11:32 pm

That’s really depressing. So, are they actually trying to dissuade other candidates (including VP Biden) from coming forward? President Obama never supports a candidate until the Dem primaries are over – this is ridiculous what these people are doing. Especially since she hasn’t even announced! Really sickening.

                • November 13, 2013 at 11:42 pm

Exactly. That’s why I’m feeling so disenchanted. It feels disturbingly pre-emptive.
I’m also obviously hoping their moves don’t telegraph or express PBO’s deeply held opinion.

I feel sick about it because I really honestly feel the primary process is important and should be a grassroots expression. Not the voice of Carville, Podesta and all those other mopes.

Moreover, I should also add that in late August DWS allowed the appointment of Harold Ickes to the DNC. Sound familiar?

Chief of Staff for Clinton. So, is the Democratic party now owned by the Clinton’s and the people who served them 20 years ago? Shouldn’t the people lining up for the next Administration/election be the ones who just finished serving this current Administration?

Maybe President Obama believes that Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who can beat Chris Christie. I don’t know… On the other hand, President Obama doesn’t seem the kind of guy who would dictate the actions of people who have worked for him. Messina, Burton and Co. are free.

But boy am I disappointed too.

They’re so political that they don’t seem to understand that once you win the campaign, you’re actually supposed to do some work, as well. If they can’t support President Obama’s agenda right now, and the 2014 campaigns, then they’re not in it for the right reasons.

Even though Jim helped elect Obama I never trusted him. He worked for Max Baucus. Right now I am am so upset with all the media, the msm, and the Dems. What is wrong with everyone. We have the best person as President and those in charge are becoming more selfish.

I will have to spend the night in meditation and prayer. Must get past my anger and make it work harder.

this is the Washington Post and Buzz Feed..I do not trust their reporting…

I’m.not going to get into the speculation of what might be….or into the frenzy of 2016…..we have things to do long before then…like returning the gavel to the hands of Nancy Pelosi…

      just a word,,,,

Hillary Clinton is not Barack Obama….no matter how many pieces of his campaign structure she may hope to acquire….

Everyone, please …. by now you should all know that no matter how many ‘sources’ WaPo or any other FAILED corporate media #NEWSTAINMENT apparatus claims to have ….

UNTIL Jim Messina confirms this is yet another stunt to cause exactly what I’m reading regarding this ‘blog post.’

Anything that distracts anyone from 2014 is no less than an IED meant to do harm to the majority of Americans.

FOCUS on 2014 – NOTHING ELSE.

I’m sure that is what OFA and the President are doing.

Agree. And on the very infrequent trip to a store on a holiday that I must make, I ALWAYS thank whoever is waiting on me for being there on a holiday.

For those who get holiday pay differential, it’s better, but I don’t even know if that’s the case today for most of those effin’ “job creators.”

All right peeps, off to watch the second half of the Wales – South Africa rugby match. In Spanish. If you’ve never heard a Spanish-speaker say “hooker” (which is a position in rugby) with a Spanish accent, you’re missing out.

    utaustinliberal,

You received a big shout-out from the blog, The Field Negro, and a big thank you from the blog owner. I am so proud of you. He thanked you for the info you included in your tweet and said he was glad he read beyond the headline of the article. Young lady, you just keep moving forward and positively impacting lives. Thanks!
