It’s Darryl Issa that’s trying to single handedly take down POTUS.

What the Media Won’t Tell You: Millions are Hurting as Red States Reject Medicaid Expansion

By: Dennis S more from Dennis S

    Saturday, November, 9th, 2013, 3:55 pm

While Congressional and national attention has been glued to the HealthCare.gov rollout controversy, the inhumane red state shafting of the voiceless percentage of our society who can’t stuff hundreds of millions into campaign coffers or buy endless TV propaganda, goes on unabated and largely ignored. Legislatures of Neanderthal states, the ones that have, for all practical purposes, seceded from the Union, have denied needy citizens access to a Medicaid expansion program that will be free to the states through 2014 and 2015 and never exceed a 10% state contribution. And the federal money for that expansion is already set aside. Medicaid expansion specifically targets the poor, disabled and uninsured.

In researching several sites, I’ve compiled a list of the states that appear to have rejected any federally funded Medicaid expansion whatsoever. None will surprise you. Alabama always leads the way in these heartless endeavors; not only alphabetically, but in serving as exemplar for any health-related program Blue Cross and Blue Shield and their running partner the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) tell these pathetic elected officials to vote for or against. ALEC also handles all critical non-health care related legislation. This description would apply to virtually all of the other states on this list.

When I worked in medical reimbursement for 16 years….most of the Insurances I dealt with had a Medicaid componant just like they have a Medicare Advantage componant.

    ‘This isn’t racist, but…’
    11/12/13 08:00 AM
    By Steve Benen

Conservatives need a new point of comparison.

In Iowa, Sarah Palin compared the federal debt she says shackles Americans to slavery. […]

“Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China,” she said at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s fall fundraiser at the State Fairgrounds Saturday night. “When that money comes due – and this isn’t racist, but it’ll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master.”

We could ask any of those questions, of course, but let’s instead make a more straightforward observation: comparing a government’s national debt to slavery is ridiculous and needlessly offensive. Slavery is a unique crime against humanity and a stain on history, not a rhetorical device to be used by lazy ideologues complaining about issues they don’t fully understand.

Good Morning TOD. I had a baby shower for my daughter in law this weekend. Of course I always use these events to get the pulse of were the public is on issues regarding the President. I can assure you that that room was full of bright, intelligent men and women who think they are up to date on political issues (quite a few are new attorneys) and the ignorance regarding ObamaCare astounded me.!!!!

I’m going to be on a tear the next couple of days about our lazy, sloppy, useless, pathetic media.

p.s. Yes I set the record straight but if the media was doing their job I wouldn’t have had too!!!!!!!!!!

Morning! I slept through my alarm…not going to be late for work, but it just means I have less “me” time this morning….and just FYI…I REALLY hate waking up and reading stupid idiotic things that Sarah Palin said. Seriously…Who the fuck cares.Honestly, That screech owl, Princess Blender Brain (as someone at BJ called her) says nothing of importance…EVER. Don’t waste your energy on her. She’s hawking a book. She’s literally stupid…she’s right out there like Mylie Cyrus…licking things and smoking a joint to get people to notice her. (Actually, I wish she WOULD smoke a J, maybe she’d be a little more tolerable, but that’s another story) SP has never said an intelligent thing in her life…you don’t really think she’s going to start now, do you? Offensive is what she is…..pay no mind. I need my coffee now…..

    • November 12, 2013 at 8:55 am

The media is trying to revive Palin in time for the 2014 midterms. They are pulling out all the stops in an attempt to recreate some version of 2010. Notice the increased reporting of PBO’s so-callled “low approval numbers” and the doubling down of negative stories with very little GOP scrutiny.

CNN has hired New York Times media writer Brian Stelter to host “Reliable Sources” and cover the media industry.

The Los Angeles Times first reported late Monday night that Stelter was about to join the network. Politico confirmed the news on Tuesday. Stelter will leave the Times to take up his new role.

They think they face a victorious Democratic Party that is intent on expanding government to increase dependency and therefore electoral support… [They believe that] insuring the uninsured dramatically grows those dependent on government.

Tea Party participants, in particular, were very focused on those who claim “rights” in the form of government services, without taking responsibility for themselves.

Race, according to the study’s authors, plays an unspoken role in determining who is and isn’t counted among the “deserving” poor.

In other words, many of those hardworking “taxpayers” outraged at the idea that they’re now being asked to subsidize health insurance for people with modest incomes themselves enjoy mortgages, health insurance, retirement accounts and other social goods that are being subsidized by other taxpayers, including those at the bottom of the income ladder.

Much of our hidden welfare state is obscured by design. Americans are, as Johns Hopkins political scientist Steven Teles puts it, “ideological conservatives and operational liberals.”

That is, they want to believe in the myth of small government while demanding that government address public needs and wants regarding everything from poverty and retirement security to environmental protection and social mobility…

The easiest way to satisfy both halves of the American political mind is to create programs that hide the hand of government, whether it is through tax preferences, regulation, or litigation, rather than operating through the more transparent means of direct taxing and spending.

Mettler writes that as a result of this dynamic many government programs are successfully “largely hidden from the public…”
