Early Bird Dog Chat with Danny

D1

Danny, November 10, 2013 (Photo not by Pete Souza)

Morning everyone. Or as Chips usually puts it: “MoooOOOooorning.” 🙄

Okay, this was my morning:

A breakfast you wouldn’t give a dog…..

D1a

…. so I had to eat grass:

D2

Tasty, but not filling:

D3

Then Chips set me a mental agility test, placing my ball in a box. No, seriously:

Doh:

D5

Facepalm:

D6

So, I had to entertain myself by doing some leaf-hunting:

D7

Then I saw something weird on the wall, a moving shape thingie:

D8

Freaked me out:

D9

Asked Chips what it was, but she had no clue:

D10

That was about it. Off to have a nap, and have nightmares about moving shape thingies.

D12

Later. Wuff. Chat away.

G’morning Chips and TOD! Danny sure is growing very quickly….but is still a very cute puppy! Chips, your photography skills have improved by leaps and bounds in the last couple weeks. 🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. November 10, 2013 at 7:36 am

Chipsticks… I love the pictures of Danny and the accompanying narrative. 😀 He’s growing really fast. It’ll be hard to keep calling him a puppy soon in spite of his age.

    On this Veteran’s Day weekend…

Honoring those who have worn this country’s uniform in the past and those who are wearing it today. Remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who risk their lives today so that we may continue to live in freedom.

Morning all! Danny is just adorable Ms Chips, and it looks like he is so happy to be with you, in spite of the food and the ball in the box! 😆 Congrats on first, CTGirl. We are cat people, but we also adore dogs…. so please keep the photos coming!

GM. Chips, Danny has such a sweet face and he looks really gentle, too. Have to agree with HF about your photo skills. I can actually “see” his face–so is he slowing down, or is that you? Off to see my little grandbaby today. She’s walking all the time now–what a difference a year makes. Next Sunday is my 77-year old’s sister’s wedding, so the whole family is all aflutter. Praying all does well.

thanks for that heads up about Vet. Richard Overton – very grateful for his service.

Agree with your gratitude for the services of Vet. Jovie and Vet. Yardam!

If I recall correctly, there is also the newly minted elected official Vet. Alycce and Active Duty Jennifer.

DF’s and Carol’s hubbies are vets too.

I am sure that there are so many here (out & lurking) who we have missed

Global, my 93 year-old mother-in-law is a World War II vet. She was among the very first Navy WAVES–a very daring thing for young women to do in those days. She got to do some decoding–very secret about it even to this day. Because she had one year of law school before she enlisted, she was commissioned to serve as a Navy lawyer, even did some court martials.

My husband and son are both vets. My husband was in Korea, and my son during the Cold War, in Germany. My father was a chaplain in World War II, and my great grandfather served in the Grand Army of the Republic with the Vermont Sixth during the Civil War.

What a wonderful collage of pictures of Danny. He is just adorable. That food really does look unappetizing. If he eats grass, it’s to get his poor tummy from feeling bad. 🙂 He sure is a great looking dog. Enjoy him alot. They are precious.

So instead of confronting Lindsey Graham on his blocking of PBO’s nominees based on that false Benghazi story, Candy Crowley (CNN) instead brings him on to attack PBO and Kerry’s efforts at striking a deal with Iran? Since when Graham has any credibility on any issue?

When we tell folks that the media is the biggest threat to this country’s democracy and biggest impediment to this country’s progress, they had better believe it!

Since Ms. Chips, UT, Hopefruit and others here were very good about the costume party, could the same be applied to the veterans, active military in our midst that we may not know about or have forgotten?

May be the three above (with the help of others here) can “nag” the vets, active duty and military family members to “come out of the shadows”, declare themselves between now and tomorrow, so that we can collectively honor them.

Suspect the “blog tyrant” will do a fine job giving the appreciation and respect each deserves

All 3 of the fur butts in our family are presently in bed snuggling my wife. It’s quiet in the house. Both children are still asleep. It’s just me and the goldfish awake. I am not very good at sleeping. I don’t know the goldfish’s excuse for being awake already. I wish that I was better at staying asleep and resting up on a Sunday morning, but waking up to snuggle my pups and the cat for a while, then snuggle my wife for a while and just enjoy the quiet before the day starts is a pretty great way to enjoy the dawn of a day off.

I am taking the tribe disc golfing today with a couple of friends so close that the kids see them as an aunt and uncle. I may start making breakfast for us all shortly or we may just pick up some donuts. I can’t make up my mind.

Do me a favor and make sure that the people who matter most to you know it today. Love is amazing. The more you hand it out, the more likely you are to receive it.

    Up in Arms
THE BATTLE LINES OF TODAY’S DEBATES OVER GUN CONTROL, STAND-YOUR-GROUND LAWS, AND OTHER VIOLENCE-RELATED ISSUES WERE DRAWN CENTURIES AGO BY AMERICA’S EARLY SETTLERS

    http://www.tufts.edu/alumni/magazine/fall2013/features/up-in-arms.html

Fascinating article. “There’s never been an America, but rather several Americas—each a distinct nation. There are eleven nations today. Each looks at violence, as well as everything else, in its own way.”

It’s hard to argue with and for me, makes it easier to understand the cultural divides; particularly on the issues of capital punishment and violence.

    • 88 carolyn
      November 10, 2013 at 9:30 am

This sociological study is fantastically enlightening. I found it accidentally on the blog roll here. Having lived in several of these “nations” I can attest to the present day effects. It is disturbing to see how large and encompassing Appalachia is…..That area is one reason for the triumph of ignorance and the dumbing down of the American public. That statement is probably a bit harsh, but there is truth in it.
One analysis shows the election in Virginia as it was divided between Appalachia and the Tidewater. Oklahoma, where I live, is mainly Appalachia which explains a lot to me. Coming from Yankeedom, it also explains why my husband and I feel so terribly out of place and out of sync.
So…..we feel like missionaries in a strange land most of the time.

      • 89 desertflower
        November 10, 2013 at 9:35 am

I haven’t read this article yet, but from what you’ve written…I see that I must be in the same boat being from “Yankeedom” and living in AZ…I feel like I might as well be living on Mars….

Good Sunday morning! What a nice post to wake up to today! Chips…what’s that slop in the bowl? Seriously…??? Yikes! I’d be outside eating grass trying to yak that up, too:) He’s more than adorable:)

Thank you to all the veterans, past and present, that have served our country so well. Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough. That’s why the concrete actions of THIS President, his administration and the FLOTUS/ Dr. Biden speak louder than empty words ever could. By far, PBO is THE BEST PRESIDENT for veterans in my lifetime.

Let’s review…and put this back out there. http://exposingreligionblog.tumblr.com/post/34790853235 (with references!)

Overall, Obama Has Done More For Veterans Than Any President In the Past 30 Years.
Republicans and conservatives have spent 4 years spreading the lie that President Obama hasn’t done anything for veterans. They have repeated it 100x per day for all 4 years and spent millions promoting their lies. The thing about records is that they are recorded. So let’s set the record straight.

I was lurking yesterday…had tutoring and had to bring hubby to the airport….just a lazy day:) Today, tutoring…..cleaning,…you know, regular stuff that we all do on our “day off” 🙂 Hugs to all.

    Look the Iran/P5+1 negotiations are 5 countries + Germany/Iran
All netenyahu had to do was call one of these countries and demand negotiations fall apart.
    That country was France.
    Any questions ?

    • 99 Don
      November 10, 2013 at 9:35 am

Jovie, it is beyond me that France or any other country does not follow President Obama’s lead. I mean he disarmed Syria without firing a single bullet, and yet these fools are following Netanyahu who’s sadly hell bent on starting a war with Iran.

Fact: the day b4 the negotiations happened Kerry flew to Israel to talk to The nut.
Then the day of the negotiation the president called netenyahu.
Then we find out that France isn’t going along with this deal.
Now I don’t know what any of that means, but it sounds pretty bad…

        • 102 amk for obama
          November 10, 2013 at 10:21 am

That’s because the entire US congress critters suck up to israel, then & now. Not to nut n yahoo. S0 Kerry has to be seen holding his hands before he flew to geneva.

As for france, they have had bad blood with iran for years. Nothing new there.

  37. 103 Don
    November 10, 2013 at 9:28 am

Benjamin Netanyahu has no idea that President Obama is trying to save him and his country a war that they will not win, oh don’t get me wrong Israel will win a physical war. But the war I’m talking about is about hearts and minds, politics, culture, and a sense of being a good citizen in the global community. Israel and Netanyahu has standing before them maybe their last best chance at a long and lasting peace in the Middle East in the form of President Obama.

    • 104 carolyn
      November 10, 2013 at 9:36 am

Last night in a tweet, SOS Kerry reminded people not to believe the naysayers and rumors. Told us to WAIT until diplomacy works. France may have stopped this temporarily, but they will come around….slowly, with feet dragging…..but for their own sakes they will have to. Kerry and team do most of their work out of the spotlight. That is how real diplomacy works. Netanyahoo is mostly bluster and faking. He grabs headlines and spotlights while others do the work.

Doubtful! It was supposed to happen yesterday but netenyahu stopped it and can do it again.
Did you just listen to senator menendez from Nj he issues stern warnings to Iran sounded like Neyenyahu.
So, he does have powers that are imbedded all over.
        Sadly !

    • November 10, 2013 at 10:11 am

It’s all Kabuki right now. Some countries have to show resistance so they don’t seem like they’re getting rolled. Netanyahu will not break this deal. They’re too close for that to happen.

  38. November 10, 2013 at 9:36 am

Did anyone here the segment on Up With Steve Kornacki about Christie and the powerful Dem in NJ? I don’t remember the guys name but the belief/saying is that the Dem is the most powerful person in the state, including Christie. If anyone can find the segment and share, I believe it is worth all of us seeing. Shed a lot of light on Christie AND the Democrats in NJ.

I read an article yesterday that talked about the Democratic nominee and how upset she was at the other Dems in the state for not backing her. She did mention that a powerful Dem was in bed with Christie and actually endorsed Christie; I can’t remember the guy’s name though.
