  3. November 9, 2013 at 7:39 am

GM Chips, TOD……Uche, Anjo,Swbluega……..what’s wrong you people? Why are you awake? I have a legitimate reason……..I had to go to the bathroom & couldn’t go back to sleep. My nerves are on high alert for the Auburn game vs. Tennessee at noon 🙂

      “I have a legitimate reason

You poor thing! 😆 Mooooooorning LP!

    • November 9, 2013 at 7:54 am

My dog has a built-in alarm clock that can’t be shut off — even on the weekends. Snooze only works for so long before she becomes insistent in her demand for me to get up. And unfortunately, her clock hasn’t adjusted from daylight savings to standard time. Soooooo…..

      • November 9, 2013 at 7:57 am

I feel your pain, Swblue!! The worst is the morning frost…..as soon as you open the door to let her out it’s game over. Start brewing the coffee 😎

        • November 9, 2013 at 7:59 am

True that…although it’s hot tea for me. 🙂

We installed a doggie door in our sunroom door when we moved to this house 7 years ago. How wonderful that is! For her…..and for us.
However, for many years we sure didn’t have one, but my husband was the naturally early riser, and I got to sleep another hour after he took care of the dogs…..and for many years it was multiple, at least two.
            Bless you all.

Bibi is having a mental breakdown…….

.In lamenting the IDF’s presence in the West Bank, Kerry positioned himself directly opposite Netanyahu, for whom an ongoing Israeli security presence in the Jordan Valley is a stated crucial condition for an agreement. Perhaps more surprisingly, he showed no evident concern over the danger of a Hamas takeover in the West Bank where the IDF to withdraw, disregarding a widely held concern — borne of the rapid ease with which Hamas swept Abbas’s forces aside in Gaza in 2007 — that the official Palestinian Authority forces alone would not be able to hold sway.

His comments, which indicated an assessment that Israelis are unrealistic about where the region is heading, seemed particularly bitter. “The alternative to getting back to the talks is the potential of chaos. I mean, does Israel want a Third Intifada?” Kerry asked rhetorically, before lashing out at ordinary Israelis. “I know there are people who have grown used to this,” he said, referring to the current relatively peaceful stalemate. “And particularly in Israel. Israel says, ‘Oh, we feel safe today. We have the wall, we’re not in a day-to-day conflict, we’re doing pretty well economically.’

“Well, I’ve got news for you,” he said, apparently addressing the Israeli public. “Today’s status quo will not be tomorrow’s or next year’s. Because if we don’t resolve this issue, the Arab world, the Palestinians, neighbors, others, are going to begin again to push in a different way.”

    • November 9, 2013 at 9:07 am

So to summarize, lots of things are happening and there are some voices that are resistant to the nature/content of change and the pace with which things are happening. Thanks a lot for the updates!

The heads of congressional republicans are exploding in 3..2..1…

Wow, to see someone calm and even tempered like Kerry lashing out at Netanyahu like this is pretty telling. The right wing in Israël is every bit as delusional and obstructive as the right wing in the US.

Oh, dear. TWO troublemakers at once!

            • November 9, 2013 at 8:54 am

                Okey dokey, that was easy
..football! Men are so predictable!

Actually, I’ve started watching the 49ers since they’ve been winning games. I’m definitely only a fair-weather viewer.

                • November 9, 2013 at 8:59 am

Is that the Kapernick era, or back to the Montana/Young Bill Walsh glory days?

                  • November 9, 2013 at 9:03 am

I did watch during the Bill Walsh Montana/
Clark/Rice era because I had a boyfriend who was a total sports nut.

                    I’m watching Kaepernick now.

                    • November 9, 2013 at 9:10 am

I was on Kaepernick’s radar back at Nevada. He ruined Boise St. National Championship dreams his Senior year. I also go to the NFL combine he in Indianapolis, every year. He had the best overall combine for QB’s……ahead my beloved Cam Newton……… but the Colt’s did put the beat down on the 9ers this year. I think they are finally finding their footing, and predict the will finish ahead of Seattle in their division….. especially getting Aldon Smith and Crabtree back. Sindy Rice out for the year for Seattle, plus Percy Harvin, still not playing doesn’t help their cause either. I grew up die hard 49’ers fan……..always root for them when it comes to the NFC.

                    • November 9, 2013 at 9:14 am

You are now speaking waaaaay over my head. But glad to know you’re on my side when the chips are down.

Holy S**T, this script would be tossed out of any Hollywood studio. Can’t make this up!!!

But the announcement that two admirals in charge of protecting the Navy’s secrets have been swept up in the investigation makes the crisis the worst to tar the Navy since the 1991 Tailhook scandal, when a convention of naval aviators sexually assaulted scores of women. Navy officials said they were bracing for even more bad news to emerge from a corruption case that has expanded swiftly since it became public in September. “We do believe that other naval officers will likely be implicated in this scandal,” Rear Adm. John F. Kirby, the Navy’s chief spokesman, said in a telephone interview.

Charging documents show that Francis enjoyed a cozy and familiar relationship with the two commanders and the NCIS agent, referring to them as “bro” or “brudda” in e-mails and sending them photos of call girls he was planning to set them up with. In return, the Navy officers playfully called Francis “Lion King” or “Big Bro.” Court records describe him as standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 350 pounds.

      I disagree.

When a woman says she’ll be ready in 5 minutes, she is actively in the process of getting ready. When a man says he’ll be home in 5 minutes, that probably means he’s 5 minutes away from THINKING about going home from wherever he is. Therefore, a man’s 5 minutes is exponentially longer than a woman’s 5 minutes.

        November 9, 2013 at 9:14 am

In recorded history has a woman ever said she’ll be ready in 5 minutes and was actually ready in 5 minutes? The answer is sadly, no.

        • November 9, 2013 at 9:18 am

I didn’t say she would actually be ready in 5 minutes. Just saying that, using AMK’s analogy, a woman’s 5 minutes is going to be shorter than a man’s 5 minutes.

          • 77 Don
            November 9, 2013 at 9:40 am

Riiiiiiiiiight because most men take so long to get dressed. Before my wife and I can even go down to the local grocery store she has to have a fitting, replete with wine and assorted cheeses.

            • November 9, 2013 at 9:48 am

              AMK didn’t say a woman’s I’ll be ready in 5 minutes = a man’s I’ll be ready in 5 minutes. He said a woman’s I’ll be ready in 5 minutes = a man’s I’ll be home in 5 minutes. There’s the difference.

If it were the first, I would still say it was not equivalent — the man’s 5 minutes would probably be equal to 5 minutes; or at least shorter than a woman’s 5 minutes in that case. 😉

    • November 9, 2013 at 1:27 pm

My late husband could not deviate from his morning routine in getting ready. If I overslept or the alarm did not ring I could get up and throw clothes on quickly skipping steps if need be to get to work on time. My husband ALWAYS took exactly one hour to get ready with no exceptions.

Steven Witkoff, chairman of The Witkoff Group, a real estate developer that owns landmark New York buildings like the Woolworth tower, believes the plan is one New York’s business leaders could be persuaded to embrace.

“If you listen to the way he asks for it, it’s completely responsible. He says I’d like people who have done really well out there to help and pay their fair share for those who need more help,” said Witkoff, citing his Bronx upbringing and New York public school education. “If I had a surcharge and it cost me $1,500 to $2,000 a year in tax for there to be this program for an early start, I think that’s a home run,” he said. “If you live in this town, how do you not want to pay more tax for early education prospects for New York City kids?”

Sorry to be a broken record, but NBC——-all rt. wing all the time now. Been watching for decades and have never seen anything like this. After covering the typhoon, the opening of Weekend Today was all anti-Obama. First a report from Kristen Welker which was all about what “Republicans are saying” about PBO—–that the Obamacare ‘fiasco’ is proof that PBO lacks executive experience and that he’s untruthful etc., showing Chuck Todd edited clips. Then they allowed Reince Priebus! to blab partisan nonsense for 10 minutes, or what seemed like forever because it was all just a bunch of nothing, junky, anti-Obama bs. I’m trying to figure out what happened—-I doubt this reporting represents the true sympathies of Lester Holt and Erica Hill—-it IS like they are under orders from corp. owners.
They did later cover the 60 Minutes story crash, but even though they pretended all kinds of compassion for getting the story wrong, it was an opportunity to nail CBS. And now that I think about it, Holt was sorta making excuses there too, story framed like “we all want to get our reporting right, but sometimes these things happen.”

Now Today is going into another round of Welker reporting further anti-Obama bias, saying Obama is trying to switch the conversation to the economy but Obamacare overshadows everything and with some interview from some guy in Arkansas saying he didn’t accept Obama’s apology because his policy was cancelled and has to pay more for a replacement. Now a quote from Lamar Alexander, for no good reason. No depth of reporting, just solid Obama bashing. Then another round of showing Ted Cruz on the Tonight Show downgrading Obama. No pretense at all of any objectivity.

I drive to work which takes about 20 minutes. I listen to NPR. on the way, with only a 20 minute drive mind you, I listened to two stories that were both hair on fire OMG Obamacare is so horrible stories. I got to work looked on both the NPR site and the local MPR site and I could not find the two stories because I wanted to tweet both journalists.

          So it continues.

FIASCO????? I’ll tell you two fiascos! Iraq and Afghanistan! Does no one ever bring those up? We are still paying for those in every way possible, and the world is still hurting from those!!!

I’d like to know how to contact these news people. Since the NBC website was “redesigned” it is impossible to contact anyone. I’ve emailed Brian Williams twice, but I watched for the submit button to take effect, and it never did.

The MSNBC people are impossible to email…..and I do believe they need more than tweets. Does anyone have email addresses for these people that work? If so, I will make a copy and keep them. I know someone a year ago posted them, but I got busy and didn’t file them. Thanks…..in advance.

If I were any of these countries that are actually debating whether to make this Nuclear deal or not, I would make the deal as fast as I can. You only have one chance to make peace, but many chances to make war. Only god knows what’s going to happen once President Obama leaves office.

    Assorted stuff:

Reading so much about deBlasio. I think he’ll do for urban politics as Obama has done for national politics. Yes We Can is good for local stuff too, and i’m hoping that’s what happens in NYC.

One thing I would like more people to know about is the benefits in Obamacare for people who already have insurance. Free checkups and preventative care, lower cost prescriptions. And the much overlooked benefits: electronic medical record. When I have gone to the ER a few times (don’t ask), having my medication record there was priceless. A lot fewer tests, and lot less problems with medication interactions. Plus my doctor automatically has the results from the visit..

Winter has finally arrived. It’s 46 degrees at 10 am-high might go up to 60 (I doubt it, but who can say?) When I go back to work next week, it’s going to be on a day where the high is 40.
