The President had no reason to apologize because he, like we, know the reason(s) some people are not able to keep the insurance plans they currently have is not because of Obamacare. It has more to do with insurance companies taking advantage of low-information customers, who are depending on same companies to give them guidance as to what plan will fit their needs.

It also has to do with the MSM amplifying those relatively few individuals who have had issues related to accessing the healthcare marketplace. In my opinion, those people would have had an issue no matter what. And honestly, I hear more positive stories about people’s experience with Obamacare; the negative stories are usually debunked.

I hate that the President, Sec. Sebelius, and anyone connected with the implementation of the marketplace roll-out will not call out those red state governors and the insurance companies who have been throwing up obstacles at every turn. They continue to act as the responsible adult with an “it is what it is and we just have to deal with it” attitude. While I truly believe that more people than not know the score, it still irks that the President and his staff have to absorb all the criticism that is being thrown at them.

I just continue to have faith that in the end, President Obama, Sec. Sebelius, et al will be vindicated.

“The President had no reason to apologize…”

An apology is not necessarily an admission of wrongdoing on the part of the apologizer. PBO was basically saying that he was sorry for the unscrupulous acts of the insurance companies and GOP saboteurs which resulted in so many people (1) having crappy/junk insurance in the first place and (2) now having to be dropped from them and sign up for new insurance. PBO was NOT apologizing for Obamacare. He was not apologizing for Secretary Sebellius – in fact, he defended her, and basically told Chuck Fraud in no uncertain terms, that she is here to STAY.

“I hate that the President, Sec. Sebelius, and anyone connected with the implementation of the marketplace roll-out will not call out those red state governors and the insurance companies who have been throwing up obstacles at every turn.”

swbluega, just yesterday in Dallas, PBO called out the GOP state officials for refusing to expand medicaid. He called them out loud and clear, and he has done so before, and will continue to do so. Kathleen Sebellius has also called them out during her congressional hearings.

      • November 7, 2013 at 7:46 pm

When I said that the President had no reason to apologize, I was not saying that he HAD apologized (that’s what Chuck Todd and company are saying). I think we both agree that he had no reason to, for reasons we have both stated and more.

I acknowledge that there have been instances that he and Sec Sebelius has called out red state officials who did not expand medicaid. I also have to remember that the portion of the interview that was shown (that I saw) was probably edited to fit Todd’s narrative.

Yes I now see what you’re saying about the apology. And I agree that the tape was edited – I posted my concerns about the editing on another thread. 🙂

          • November 7, 2013 at 8:04 pm

🙂 Honestly Hopefruit, there are days that I just have to take a complete break from the MSM and all things politics….just take a moment to exhale.

I just responded to Japa in the last post that Chuck Todd (and his ilk) is like those kids in class who are always trying to show everyone how smart they are. But in the end, they tend to be more annoying than impressive.

  14. November 7, 2013 at 7:53 pm

Ok. So back in my room for the night.

So I reserved car & hotel online with credit card at dollar car & marriott courtyard. When I got to DFW dollar said they had to hold $350! My credit card limit is $300. My rental was only for $114! The guy was nice though and the guy went over and got me a deal at alamo. And they on held $288. The alamo agent was really nice. She even gave me an upgrade to a mid size car.

So I got lost for like 30 min on Highway. But finally got to Courtyard at Marriott. Gave them my credit card and the Lil guy was nice at first but when they swiped my credit card it didn’t go through. So I asked how much it had to hold and he said $250! My bill comes up to room rate total was only $109 total! So I was like what! Ok so I was checking my debit card balances and that little punk just left me at the desk and just ignored me and walked away and left me at the desk. Did not try to give me a minute or at least give me a chance to get shit tohwther.

By this time I’m pissed. Yall know I like shhh planned. So I go back to the car and at this point I just need to find some place for the night or I was gonna just have to drive 1 hr over to stay with my Lil sis in her dorm! But I kinda have only so much time on this trip. So I went to hotels.com and found this Lil cheap Days Inn for the night so I have some place to lay my head, but tonight.

So once I got the key and I got up to my room, which seems clean, & called my aunt who works for Marriott and she reserved me a room at the same Marriott with a cheaper rate (don’t know why I didn’t check with my aunt first).

So ill check out here and go over to that marriott again and try my best not to smack that guy in the face. But hey, like my mom said, god will do cause I got my rental car, I’ve got my room for the night and I’ve got my accommodations for the rest of my stay.

So I’m in for the night and pray that i don’t get scabies or shanked in the night. Just kiddin. The place is not bad.

    • 44 jackiegrumbacher
      November 7, 2013 at 9:48 pm

Good grief, Lamh, what an ordeal. When you get home you should write a letter to Marriott HQ about the rudeness of the desk clerk. Then send a quick note to Alamo and Dollar to thank them for the good customer service of their DFW reps. You shouldn’t have to put up with any rudeness from a desk clerk and Marriott would want to know about it. That’s why they put all those customer satisfaction surveys in the rooms. I will offer a rule that I learned on many trips that has never failed to be true–if the beginning of your journey is difficult, the return home will be smooth. Unfortunately, it works the other way around, as well. In your case, going home should be smooth sailing.

      • November 8, 2013 at 6:29 pm

it went better today. my aunt actually works for marriott. and I should have gotten her to book my room. anyway. she arranged it all. yesterday and I got the room at courtyard for free. it’s way nicer than the last one.

so sometimes you don’t always get what you want but you sometimes get what you need!

The dismay we feel at C.Toads interview reminds me a bit of 2007-8 when we asked ourselves when would candidate Obama hitback hard at Hillary’s slurs.
    The answer was “never.’
President Obama then and now uses patience common sense and his vast intelligence to get his message across. I thought Our President was great in this interview and he reached out to citizens who are frightened about their ability to take care of themselves. Good for POTUS and booo to Chuckles.

I wish the POTUS would now allow himself to be interviewed so that he can clarify any questions people might actually have about the ACA going forward. Upchuck attacked the POTUS, he did not perform a service for NBC viewers. He should be removed from his position. If that’s the best that NBC has to “interview” the POTUS, then they don’t have what it takes. Please Mr. President go on PBS and let Gwen Ifil and Judy Woodruff do a real interview.

i don’t need to watch upChuck’s schtick anymore since i know exactly what he’s going to do, but sounds like our president worked the same strategy he did before the super bowl a few years ago, when he did a LIVE interview with fox sexual predator bill o’liely. people were concerned president obama was giving him “legitimacy” and so on back then too, but our president completely embarrassed the blowhard sexual predator fox employee in front of tens of millions of people. president obama did a similar thing with the republican getaway that one year also.

notice how these people never try to do it again with president obama? the smarter ones realize they are no match for him and that he’s using them to do an aikido move on them. of course, upChuck was too dumb to realize what was happening here. please proceed, next “news” person who thinks they’re going to get up in barack’s face. proceed, indeed.

Election night, 2012, when Brian Williams and Chuck Todd called the election for President Obama, their disappointment and resentment were so intense that they could not be concealed. This is what Todd said, “There is now no what if…,” and Williams echoed him. I thought that was a biased statement from someone who was supposed to be a credible journalist.

But Todd is hurting awfully inside; he has not yet accepted the outcome of the 2012 presidential elections; it’s destroying him from the inside out and he obviously cannot arrest it.

I think PBO recognises Todds’ dilemma and gave him the interview as an antidote to begin his healing process, but Todd’s condition is too advanced; he’s possessed by two demons – envy and hate. He sees in PBO the human being he wished he had become and these demonic forces within him keep reminding him that he could never attain such high and pure ideals. His response? Always lash out at the president.

    • November 7, 2013 at 8:36 pm

The only thing I disagree with, Prayer, is that I think PBO granted the interview to ‘reveal ‘Todd’s hatred to the world in all its rabid ugliness. Todd’s level of hatred is an affliction and the guy can’t begin to deal with it until he recognizes it as such and I don’t think he’s capable of that kind of self-reflection.

Rev. Al had parts of the Todd interview on. We watched it….the part about the ACA…..like everyone else, I wanted to slap Chuck, but I noticed that when Chuck would try to interrupt the president, President Obama kept talking until he had finished his thought. He did not let upchuck interrupt him. Then, after the segment, Rev. Al had Rep. Emanuel Cleaver and Ryan Grim on to comment!!! Deliver me…..but, Cleaver was not happy with Todd, we could tell, and liked what the president said, thought he put it straight. Ryan Grim is a doofus.
Then after the commercial, the part about VP Biden came on…..Cleaver said he knew exactly what good friends those two are. He said he wished he had one friend as good as these two are to each other! Grim said something about people always looking for a story, and journalists have to figure out who really knows…..well, the president pretty well told the audience whoever wrote that garbage had no idea what was going on.
I’ll just go write Brian Williams again and tell him NBC needs to get rid of the upchuck. I doubt that will change their minds, but I wonder if numbers of us wrote him saying that, if it would at least make NBC stop a minute. Chuck does them no favor. I think back to their real journalists…..Sander V, n Occur, David Brinkley, John Chancellor…so many more. How low they’ve fallen.

exactly my point. rather goes after a republican, and the most buffoonish one in history, and he AND the producer are fired almost immediately, and to top it off, the underlying story WAS TRUE!!! it was just some documents he was fed were questionable, and i think that was even a set-up to do what was done. and note – hardly any of the general public realizes that it WAS TRUE, so it was a way for them to cover the truth up.

now we have people like jonathan karl “report” complete fabrications with not a single repurcussion whatsoever, and in fact get elevated. upChuck is constantly emabarassing the network for years now. we’ll see nothing done to lara logan or the producer. it’s obvious what’s going on here, isn’t it?

thank god the internet came of age when it did, and of course president obama to revive community organizing, or we’d really be in trouble right now! now though, i think we have a fighting chance…as long as a clinton or one of their team members never gets a democratic nomination again that is…

I think PBO was smart in doing the interview with Chuck Todd because other than a FOX commentator Todd is the most antagonistic. PBO does not give himself softball situations. PBO can address tough unrelenting questions best by addressing them head-on like he did with Bill O’Reilly, and the entire Republican House a few years back. Todd served a purpose as much as we all dislike his attitude.

I doubt any of the dem “eaders” would come out and call out the pos toad for what he was. More than gop, it’s media, their enablers, that would destroy the governance in US. I am fuming that an intelligent and caring man would be treated in such a shabby manner without any repercussions.

I agree with you, AMK! It’s really our responsibility to whatever we can to demand accountability from these media outlets about the shoddy and unethical behavior of their so called journalists.

I know as soon as I post this a new thread will appear lol. But to cap off this thread on a peaceful note, I want to say that I am so impressed with two people today: our President (although that’s EVERY day) and Pope Francis. Being a runaway stayaway Catholic, I have to say that what he is doing is what I thought Catholics were supposed to be; at least those who call themselves the clergy.

And then there is our President who moves this country FORWARD each and every day in some meaningful way. Today it’s the big news on the last of the chemical weapons being destroyed in Syria and Secretary Kerry meeting the Foreign Minister of Iran. Who could have imagined this even one year ago?!? So I want to post a tweet and a music video for both of them and their good works for the whole world.

WASHINGTON, Nov 7 (Reuters) – After growing steadily for years, the backlog of U.S. military veterans’ disability claims is falling sharply – dropping by more than a third since March, the head of the Department of Veterans Affairs said on Thursday.

Eric Shinseki said the progress kept him on track to eliminate the claims backlog by sometime in 2015. It would also allow him to briefly halt mandatory overtime for claims processors, one of the reasons the backlog has fallen.

“This trend line is in the right direction. We’ve got to keep it going that way,” Shinseki told a group of reporters. “I’m not dusting my hands off and saying this is a done deal. This is: More work to be done.”

Interesting NBC is not touting the President’s answer on VPBiden. He left no space there! There is no way they could cut and splice that answer. Chuck had to shut up. The President set him down and set him straight on that one.
The president also sat him down and set him straight on the ACA, although Chuck is too stupid to realize it. Those who saw it will know it.
How sad it is when I think of former great NBC anchors and correspondents…..David Brinkley, John Chancellor, Sander VanOcur…..more. How low the network has fallen!
And CBS…..used to be called the Tiffany network! How pitiful they are with this false Benghazi report. There is no TV news any more. Just tabloid.

MJ Rosenberg. He blogs at HP.

He said it best in my view. Chris Christie is more like Joe Lieberman.

I see the similarity in the Lovefest by the media. In stabbing his party in the back when politically in their best and personal interest. The only difference is Lieberman was Not Loud, but Christie is obnoxious.
