White House press secretary Jay Carney rightfully ridiculed Boehner’s statement.
Carney said the reasoning behind Boehner’s opposition “sounds familiar to the opposition to all civil rights measures” in the nation’s history.
“That opposition was wrong then and is wrong now,” Carney said.
If the Senate passes the ENDA and House Republicans kill it, they will be locked into a distinctly anti-gay position for the foreseeable future.

Part of the reason GOP lies seep into the mainstream is the fact that not enough Democrats show outrage when outrage is the required response. Not just the blogosphere or twitter – but the DNC, the administration. The Benghazi lies, together with the major networks not doing the basic investigation into their breathless b.s. on ACA – THIS IS A SCANDAL. But it is only perceived as a scandal if Democratic leaders show proper outrage.
So I’m outraged.

I don’t know about NJ, and I’m pretty sure that VA will be okay, but I’m in a NY state of mind right now, and NYCers are NOT playing and are ready to VOTE. I’m already seeing early reports of long lines
I’m in downtown NYC and will vote between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. The precise time is my own way of estimating voter turnout. Same polling place at same time for EVERY election no matter how small gives me a pretty good idea of how the turnout in general in my city will be.
I will report back afer I vote.

As the week began, another “Obamacare” horror story hit the press, instigating a fleet of outrage-pornographers and concern trolls across the political spectrum to resume its self-flagellation and screeching about the disastrous Affordable Care Act — selectively forgetting about actual healthcare horror stories that existed before the law was implemented. It was a story focusing on yet another vague, anecdotal tale about a hapless ACA victim whose insurance policy was canceled, thus vindicating the accusation that the president lied about “keeping your existing insurance policy if you like it.”
Before we dive into the lie accusation, let’s take a closer look at an op/ed for the Wall Street Journal written by a stage-4 gallbladder cancer survivor, Edie Littlefield Sundby.
Sundby wrote that she received a letter from UnitedHealthcare announcing the cancellation of her insurance policy. She was advised to seek a different plan from the ACA exchange in California, known as Cover California. However, she claimed that there aren’t any insurance plans in the exchange that are accepted by both her primary care doctors at University of California San Diego, and her oncologists at and Stanford, thus forcing her to choose one or the other.

Many of you in the previous threads have commented about Christie. I share your dismay about dems voting for him. This is the way I see it. Before Sandy he was not all that popular. His bullying was all over the news and his cuts to education and disdain for unions, the poor and support for the rich was well known. He was criticized for taking the state helicopter to his son’s ball games and being out of the state campaigning for others. He was criticized for being in DisneyWorld when a blizzard hit the state and grandstanding for the media after Irene. But Sandy did something to the regular folks just like 9/11 promoted Mayor Giuliani. They have amnesia when it comes to his record and his opponent is like Coakley from Mass. She is not well known and did not get support from the party. Now the big guys in the party are another issue. They are corrupt and distribute many patronage jobs. He courted them in 2009 against Corzine and continued. There is a guy in south Jersey, George Norcross, with whom he has made deals and Norcross is best buddies with the Senate president. He has also made deals with the Essex County executive (that’s where Newark is). What he calls bipartisanship is sleazy deal making for the benefit of the politician not the people. If you saw the campaigns of the state house people, you’d see democrats running with their pictures along side Christie. They never even mentioned Buono. It’s been a very disheartening race for me . I have a memory and know what he did to teachers. And while I voted for the local dems they are as bad and disgust me as well.

same here in Philadelphia…it was the reason why PBO had to build his own network from scratch…i mentioned this during the 2012 campaign about how OFA did not get much support from the DEM machine in Philadelphia…and i saw that first hand in my community….there is no longer a grass roots network here in Philadelphia…there was in the 60s and 70s…helped to defeat Rizzo and his bid to change the Home Rule Charter…also it was this same movement that elected the first black mayor…Wilson Goode…
alot of the elected officials who were elected on this wave are no longer around….

Checked the NBC website and saw a story from Upchuck…he says that “Christie proving he’s electable nationwide”….Really? How did he come to that conclusion??? No. I didn’t read the story…this much already made me scratch my head.
Really? Romney won his gubernatorial race in MA too, but his national election didn’t work out so well. Up chuck makes me up chuck.
Sarah Palin was governor of Alaska, but her national election didn’t work out so well. And Christie is not PROVING anything. He’s not trying to win the GOP base in NJ – he’s trying to win a group of confused Democrats which he has so far successfully fooled. He’s in for a huge shock if he tries to run for President – the dynamics will be completely different
Yup, no way the fucker wins even NJ in 2016. By that time, NJ’ers would have tasted his ‘successes’. If he gets elected today.
