everyone who says "women won it for McAuliffe" is lying. BLACK women did it. white women voted for cuccinelli.

If you ever wondered why Republicans want to suppress black voters - here's your answer http://t.co/jNJsTHXQNf

So Black voters, particularly Black women came through in VA...Dems remember that when the MSM starts advising you to "distance" from PBO.

Democratic party should be grateful for Black voters. If it were up to whites, they'd be screwed (h/t @Smartypants60) http://t.co/1WqupVMoou

So can we officially put to rest the notice that African-Americans only turnout in large numbers for African-American candidates.

Black women and black men made the difference in the VA Governors race. Otherwise known as President Obama's base!

FYI, it wasn't white women who defeated Cuccinelli in Virginia. It was black men and women. #VAGov nytimes.com/projects/elect…

Texans, if you want Wendy Davis to win, you need to concentrate on connecting with women of color. It's your only path to victory.

What a night!
Bedtime for me…catch up with everyone tomorrow…Early Bird Chat!
Congrats and sweet dreams. Thanks UT!
Great tweets.
Thank you.
Yes Indeed, UT! Really 2nd AMK about your great tweets! Let the word go forth that it’s Black women, and then Black men, who are the most loyal and dependable base of the Democratic party! This has been the case since the 1960s. We are talking over 53 years that Black folks have voted for Democrats, black and white, with margins ranging from 80% to 97%. I challenge any political pundit to show me any other group in the Democratic party that has equalled or surpassed African American loyally to the party. On the Presidential level, in the past 53 years, only LBJ, in his 1964 landslide win, received the majority of white voters. But even LBJ could not have won by landslide if African Americans had not voted for him overwhelmingly.
So, the next time we hear privileged purity white progressives mock black folks, and claim to be the base of the Democratic party, we should LOL!
Thissssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot figure out those stats unless the White women are older and do not care at all about reproductive rights. They may have the Republican selfish personality based on what is in it for them and scr** everyone else, unless the voting suppression worked against younger voters.
Herring only down 778 Votes now…………
Is that a new photo for Pres. Obama in the left top corner or am I bleary eyed? 🙂
Personally, and this is not to disparage black women or to say we don’t need, want, and encourage them to vote, but I sincerely hope that intelligent white women in Texas, caring white women in Texas, empowered white women in Texas, etc. will campaign, support and vote for Wendy Davis. I hope that the Hispanic women in Texas will see that they will have a champion in Wendy Davis and will support her, vote for her. And further, I hope with all my heart that intelligent, caring, women-loving white and black men in Texas will support and vote for Wendy Davis! Let’s not make this about race, let us make this about character and values.
Nor should we make this about gender … this goes so far beyond that!
Agree. While this post shows real-life RESULTS of AA men and women coming out to vote and making a real difference in Virginia, especially, and no doubt other places, in the final count it’s ALL caring, empowered, intelligent men and women we’ll need in 2014, in Texas and beyond, and in 2016. We have our work cut out for us.
THANKS for these tweets
You’re welcome.
Just spoke with a “friend” in Jersey; everyone in her household voted YES on the minimum wage referendum AND FOR crispy creme… smdh, the STUPID burns!
“AND FOR crispy creme” – OMG. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Yup. Corporate media at work.
Excellent selection of tweets, UT.
Bottom line …
#TrustBarack
Thanks Bob!
This might be my favorite development of the night. BEST VP EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!
More good news. Please.
Are these new pick-ups or retentions?
Had my TV on mute and looked up to see the unhappy wife of the “winner” of the NJ governor’s race tonight on my monitor. Without sound – so I didn’t have to listen to the bloviating Christie – I could concentrate on his wife’s dull, dead-eyed look. It went beyond her being tired from a long day, to my eyes. That fake, nervous smile on her face the other day when he was talking down to a NJ teacher right next to her is more proof. I think the bully’s wife is the most bullied by him, bullied into supporting his grandiosity and bullied into a second term of his coming home to tell her how he’s in charge of the world at large and she should whip up another plate of spaghetti for him and quit harping about her day. And I don’t know that she’s “only” worried about his baggage that we can see on our TVs. She looks like the “stuck” wife of a bully to me, and none too glad about it.
I’m enraged by the whole damn “big win” of that horrible ugly ass in NJ – my home state, which I am now totally embarrassed to admit.
What a magnificent, heartfelt photo. I’m back to concentrating on the big Democratic wins tonight!
Dems pick up win 4 big city mayors offices tonight: NYC(first in 4 decades), St. Petersburg, Greensboro, Charlotte, and retake VA Gov/Senate…….yet Media is all Christie…… where maybe only 1 state rep of the many he campaigned for may win. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!
It’s ridiculous. The real story tonight is how Democrats dominated. Chris Christie won because of Hurricane Sandy and he kept name-dropping Sandy every two sentences or so.
The media propelled him with their coverage of him as a “moderate.” He is anti-choice, anti-raising the minimum wage, anti-marriage equality, anti-teachers, anti-raising taxes on the wealthy, cut education funds and that’s supposed to be moderate?
We have a crap fest media.
Couldn’t have said it better, UT. It is like beating our collective heads here at TOD over and over. There is no Media culpability……. they have been pushing this lard of a man for years. They all want access to him when he runs, and they are also scared of him. So all we get thrown in our faces are puff pieces. Can someone explain to me why NBC’s Kelly O’donnell followed him like a presidential embed for 3 straight days. Then they sent Chuck Todd yesterday. CNN had Erin McPike trailing him, and then Jake Tapper rode on his bus all day providing back rubs when required. I neve watch FOX, but I already imagine what kind of coverage they gave him.I recall Roger Ailes having Christie over to his home to beg him to run in ’12. I’m so sick of it all…….. better stop ranting now. Sorry about that!
I think the Christie phenomenon got to several of us tonight. Sickening turn of events. I pretended to myself all day that at the last minute he wouldn’t win. Dang.
I get the same irritation/sickness I used to get when I saw Palin on any channel………for my health, I will be waring out my remote control batteries for some time to come!
I will, as well, for Palin and Cruz and Christie and Rubio and countless others!!
Thank God we have TOD to come to, to maintain what’s left of our collective sanity.
Just wIt until 2016. It will be all Christie. Pathetic.
Obviously no one knows for sure, but I am willing to bet that Chris Christie will not be the nominee of the Republican party. If by some miracle he is, I don’t think he can defeat seasoned Democrats like VP Biden, Hillary Clinton, or MD’s Gov. O’Malley. He is likely to end up like America’s Mayor (i.e a noun, a verb and 9/11) who was so loved by the beltway media pundits.
Christie would NEVER win a National election. won’t happen.
At least, beebs front page says Democrats win NYC and Virginia polls
Good. Because I really am already sick of hearing about Christie. My hope is that he’ll fizzle out, right quick (as they say in the New Jersey “Pines”).

Oh, beautiful. Might make that my desktop wallpaper tonight. Ha!
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats, again!
Thank you!
In D v. D races, Walsh wins in Boston, Duggan in Detroit, Cranley in Cincinnati, Parker in Houston
OMG!!!!!!!!
Herring only needs to make up ~250 votes to win
One good thing that may come out of Barbara Buono’s loss in NJ is that she’s none too happy about it … and sounds as though she’s gonna spill the beans on whatever’s going on inside the NJ Dem Party. That’s what happened with Charlie Christ in FL, a while back.
Don’t know if this was posted yesterday; just ICYMI:
In order to avoid the crispy creme lovefest, I’m watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel. Can you believe they started their Christmas movies on November 1st?
I’m watching a recording of Shahs of Sunset on Bravo, myself. Ha!
My last update before I go crazy……. GN TOD. Keep your fingers crosses!!!
OK FINAL UPDATE……..AP has revised the Lowden clerical error. Herring now trails by only 153 votes with 5 Precincts that PBO carried by 1,456 votes over Romney left to count. I’m worn out……. see you on the other side 😎
Herring is leading!!!
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/files/elections/2013/by_county/VA_Page_1105.html?SITE=AP&SECTION=POLITICS
By 616 votes!
I can’t sleep………update infinity! Still 4 precincts out (Mecklenburg, PWC, Rockingham, Rockbridge) AP has fixed Loudoun error. HOWEVER, it has not fixed Buchanan error, which means Herring’s “true” lead is more likely 416, not 616.
Me either. Sounds like a recount is inevitable.
Is there any reputable source of news anywhere in the world? One that doesn’t have corrections (print/on-air)!!!!! Virginia’s paper of record. The Washington Post 16 mins ago: “Obenshain appears headed for razor-thin victory in Virginia attorney general’s race”
This is a good twitter to watch – it seems a GOP county is outstanding
https://twitter.com/Redistrict
Dave Wasserman @Redistrict 1h
Herring’s biggest enemy at the moment is McGaheysville (Massanutten) in Obenshain’s Rockingham County backyard. Could even race instantly.
It does seem 100% that there will be a recount
Bottom line ….
… time for some rest.
#TrustBarack
Just had to post this before departing for some rest ….
🙂
That one needs a warning Bob!!
Sleep well 🙂
